THE TOWER
[ As per the mod post:

All groups will find that the tower is deserted, and all technology is shut off. Through some fiddling, some of CERES’ databases can be accessed, but only in the most basic of safe modes. Hacking will just get everything to shut off again, as it takes too much power from whatever emergency power source allows the systems to turn on.

There are no dangers, but even so, the characters won’t have long in the tower before their code starts to warp strangely. If they stay too long, they will be glitched right out of existence -- and then right outside of the tower. They will find that for the next three ic days, all food tastes burnt and sleeping is extremely unsatisfying, to the point that they don’t even feel like they need it, before they go back to normal. Characters will have a maximum of 3 IC hours in the tower before that point.

Feel free to thread out characters meeting up before the exploration, or bumping into each other in the rather big tower, amongst other shenanigans! ]


THE SANCTUARY
[ there isn't much of a preparation for this, but there will be a text blast alerting everybody to go to the sanctuary if they so please to discuss what people have found in the tower.

as usual, a variety of flavours of pizza is being served. there may not be pizza for everybody however, as athena is rather broke. (sweats) remember to leave your cerevices in the basket by the entrance! ]

1. Exploring

[So they're inside the tower and they've got a specific quest--find the library. But that's not as easy as it looks, given all the rooms.]

Where should we start? I mean, I've got something that might let us search a lot faster, but it kind of wipes me out and if I can save it, I'd rather do that.

[GataKiriBa definitely would be useful here, except probably nobody wants to carry Eiji out of there when he runs out of energy.]

Any ideas?

2. ViViD parlor--OTA

[The ViViD machines are back online, but the parlors are still pretty quiet. That works out fine for Eiji, along with anyone else who's with him, because he's determined to destroy them so they can't harvest any more energy from anyone.

Anyone is welcome to talk him out of it or help him smash.]

[What he wouldn't give for having his wife here. As it was, he was grateful that there was at least someone who could understand a few of the more frustrating parts of hanging around heroes all the time, but still, she and her spells would have been useful. At least he had one little trick up his sleeve, or better yet, inside of his vest.

Jinga tugged the glowly blue butterfly from its little hiding spot and blew on it to get it to fly. It chimed back in a way that suggested that it was trying to swear and circled their little group.]

That idiot can go scouting so long as it remembers what its looking for. [There was a sharper chime and Jinga flicked a finger at it.] Go.

[Eiji nodded. He'd left most of his candroids to circle around the building to act as lookouts.]

Kinda wish I'd thought of that.

I kind of wish my wife was here. She could create a swarm of them to make this far easier.

[Once the butterfly headed off, Jinga shoved his hands into his pockets and starts walking in the general direction that the butterfly went off in. He was acting that this was going to be easy, and that nothing was going to spring out to surprise him. It might seem weird, but Ryuuga should know that it was his habit when he wasn't actually trying to kill people.]

It almost looks like it had been abandoned. Odd, isn't it?

[Eiji wants to say that this is what they're fighting for, but he knows better than to assume that everyone has a home and loved ones to come back to. So he just nods.]

A little. I mean, I'd at least expect guards.

[And weirdly, that's the creepiest part. There is nothing stopping them right now, so are they walking into something worse?]

[Well, he was kind of there when Jinga snapped at Ryuuga about him losing his son to a group of humans that thought that he was not strong enough to protect them. So no. He doesn't actually have a family, at least not the way most people did. He was a Horror now.]

Are they abandoning us? [He tugged his hand free of a pocket and reached over to flick his finger against a muted screen, making it sway as they passed it by.] Some of the systems are still working but how long will that last? We have too many things that are provided for us that I'm not sure will continue once those systems die.

[powertotearer]

[That was a slightly worrying thought, that they'd be completely cut off. But Eiji shook his head.]

No, I don't think it'll be that easy. They put a lot into bringing us here, and they definitely need us for something. As long as we're still useful, somehow, they're going to keep us alive. And if we stop being useful, I think they'll be more direct about it.

[That much he can trust in, from experience. They haven't been killed yet, so clearly, they're doing something for CERES, but what?]

Ah, but how long will we prove to be useful?

[They came to an intersection and he paused, head tilted as he studied the two directions. A very faint chiming sound came from one direction and he followed it.]

Simple staples for most people wouldn't be hard to keep up with, so I could see those systems remaining intact. However, we do seem to be having troubles with the robots that removed garbage and the transportation system. The stuff that does require a bit more work then the norm.

[That's something he really doesn't want to have to think about too much. But if it comes to it, he will fight to save everyone.]

Well, hopefully, we'll find out more about what would make CERES make things so inconvenient on themselves.

[Jinga was a planner. It was his nature to plan out things and to slowly figure out new ways to turn things into his favor, even if it took years for those pans to bear fruit. He wanted to make sure that his survival would occur no matter what, even if that meant working with his enemy and his morals to achieve it.]

There had been talk about CERES stocks falling. Maybe this is a result of that? [If there had been a hostile take over, the people doing the taking over might not really understand the systems around them that much.] All this equipment and bringing us here could not be cheap.

We first need to know the why. Then we can at least have an idea as to how.

[Ryuuga's already drawing his sword, eyes narrowed. There's also the smallest hint that he feels almost proud that he had been avoiding ViViD as much as he had outside when he had been absolutely forced into it.

Let's do this.]

[Well, Eiji doesn't have a sword or anything, so he's got to transform if he's going to put a dent in anything.

He looks to Ryuuga. Now that they're actually doing it, he's hesitant to make the first move.]

All right. Ready?

Yeah, think so.

[No point pulling out the armor in his case, though he is hesitating a bit himself, taking a deep breath, more to convince himself than anything.]

[powertotearer]

[It's funny how neither one of them wants to be the first one to hit it. But Eiji knows it has to be done--these things have been harvesting their energy so CERES could sell it. They've exploited them in a terrible way. They have to go.]

On three, then. One, two, three!

[And at three, he smashes his claws right into the first machine, still a little shocked he did it.]

[wolfpuppy]

[No point using his armor unless he needs to defend someone or smash through it more, so at Eiji's "three", he slams the blade into the nearest machine to him - even if it looks like it might take work for him. Soul Metal can make a good dent in Horror flesh, but machines are another story.]

[powertotearer]

[So that's a hole on Eiji's machine, and despite his shock, as soon as he's able to pull his arm out, it's a little easier to start tearing into the next one. Ryuuga seems to be having a little more trouble, though.]

Do you need any help? I mean, I don't have any weapons with me that'll help...

[wolfpuppy]

I might.

[He lets out a huff - half-annoyed and surprisingly half-amused by all this. He shouldn't be surprised it would be harder to break than the robots or other things. It gives him a slight reminder of when he was dealing with the robot velociraptors and how even the transformed Garoken while in his armor had trouble taking it out, which has him falter a bit, but he shakes it out of his mind quickly enough.]

[Eiji just nods and kicks it, leaving a nice dent, even if it's not a hole.]

Do you think maybe you need your armor for it? I mean, I know you've got a limit on how long you can use it, but if weapons aren't as good...

[wolfpuppy]

I honestly don't know - though I guess it's at least worth a shot. What's the worst that could happen?

[Ryuuga. No.

Regardless, he does summon his armor, and starts hacking away at the machinery again, and it does seem to be doing a bit more damage, at least.]

[ Annoyance slips in her tone, but there's also a bit of chastising in it as well. ]

[ She rests her hands on her hips, knitting her brows as she leaves the question hanging, almost as if she's quietly saying that he's going to be in some deep shit if he doesn't answer. ]

Are you going to tell me the truth or not?

[Well, that's not fair. He's older than her by a couple of years--how does she have him feeling like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar?

He sighs.]

We have to destroy these things. CERES is just going to keep stealing our energy if we don't, and even though we all might believe what we just discovered, it doesn't mean any of the others in the colony will.

And that's where you're an idiot.

[ She can't believe she's hearing this and honestly can't help but be somewhat annoyed by the entirety of the situation. ]

Do you honestly think that CERES is going to let us get away with this kind of shit? They can see what we're doing right now. And sure, yes, I believe what we discovered, but telling others is a necessity. Besides, I'm not stupid enough to show and tell without evidence.

[ As she takes out her cellphone which she was using the whole time to record video when they went to the CERES area. ]

[He's about to argue that he can handle the consequences and he'll deal with them himself if he has to, but the last part gets him to deflate more.]

What exactly should we do, then? It's one thing to have evidence, but we can't leave these things running.
