Who: Jessica Albert (

What: Jessica's fire element is acting up and she's putting it to good use... when it's acting nicely anyhow.

[Jessica is putting her spontaneous fire to good use. Since everything she touches seems to burst into flames, the sorceress is going through the Pleasure District during her off time putting a stop to those robots going rogue chiefly by grabbing hold of them. Not that she neglects her whip but that seems reserved for tripping up the robots more than anything.

She quells the fire on one with a bit of ice magic, shards of ice jutting out of the ground and around the metallic remains of said robot. She sighs out, flexing her hand a little afterward.]

I'm certainly glad my magic is stable but this fire business is another problem altogether. This place really doesn't want anyone to be comfortable anymore, does it.

[And here is one of the discomforting parts of fire abilities. Jessica isn't much of a cook to be honest and setting things on fire doesn't help. However trying to eat out isn't so simple when one keeps setting every slice of pizza they touch on fire.

Right now Jessica is grasping onto the crust of one burning piece, her teeth gritted and her glare enough to make one wonder if it's her element or her gaze setting it on fire.]

What, is it every other piece then? Honestly if there were at least some predictability I could plan around this but now...

[Naoki's a wanderer, when he's not sticking close to home, and today brings him out wandering, now that his abilities seem to have calmed down enough where he isn't a liability to every person around him. He'd been uncertain at first, but by now he's relaxed enough to proceed without too much worry.

Hands in his pockets, his attention diverts, drawn to a feeling of energy not far. He hesitates but, with a small shrug, he heads in that direction, in time to see Jessica flexing her hand.]

Question should probably be if they ever really wanted us to be comfortable in the first place, [he calls toward her.]

Fire!! Watch out, Jessica-san! [Rock Lee cries out at the sight of the flaming pizza!

But he does spot a fire extinguisher nearby, grabs it, and quickly starts spraying it at the flaming pizza slice. Of course, almost anything nearby could end up getting caught in the spray as well.]

I suppose you have a point.

[She speaks before she glances over to the man but once she does, she pauses a moment. He has a fairly unique appearance after all but the pause is only a moment and then she moves on. Planting her hands on her hips, she looks down the street with a slight sigh.]

It they ever did, they're doing a fairly poor job of it now.

[The streets seem to be emptying out more and more as the days go on. Even the few locals out now look somewhat paranoid and nervous. Not that she blames them with the robots and all.]

[It puts out the fire beautifully. And as a bonus it covers the pizza, the other slices of burnt pizza and the table in foam. Most important it also covers Jessica herself.

There comes a moment of silence, the white-coated figure of the sorceress still holding up her now non-flammable piece of pizza. She brings up her opposite hand that hand been on her lap and thus was shielded by the table to wipe away the fine foamy mist of white off of her face.

She doesn't move but the tone of her voice is heavy as a stone and suggestive of at least one of them needing to move very soon.]

Rock. What did you just do.

[Something about that tone fills him with dread and leaves him on edge. He nervously takes a step back as he regards her.]

I... I helped to put out a fire...

...

...B-but it seems that some has gotten on you. [More like all of it.] I am so sorry, Jessica-san!! I will do anything to help!!

[ Yo that is very dangerous?! Hopefully she doesn't get mad when Kousetsu walks by, clad in a rain coat with a hood over his head while inside, and douses that fire with a sudden onslaught of rain...

He might step back quickly and bow deep in apology. Even if her pizza was on fire he honestly hadn't meant for that to happen?! ]

I...am deeply sorry for that. Are you alright? [ If Kousetsu could show emotion there would be an expression of embarrassment on his face. ]

[She continues glowering at the man for a moment and then she sighed out. She reaches for napkins on the table, slowly mopping away the foam from the rest of her face.]

Oh never mind. It isn't as if these last few days haven't been the biggest mess anyhow.

[Heck, these last few weeks.]

[There is a brief moment where the now wet Jessica thinks about turning on the man with the heat of her temper. Before it can fully fan to life though, she notes how wet he seems to be and the rain coat over his head. And then a look of understanding passes over her face.]

It's alright, it doesn't seem to be something you can control either.

[She sighs, dropping her now soggy burnt piece of pizza and shaking off her hands for what good that does.]

What a mess. Random fire, random water...

[He frowns at that, then he quickly procures some paper towels and tries to hand them to her.]

Ah... Please, Jessica-san, tell me all of your troubles!

[Even knowing that the robots were violent and that she couldn't reason with them doesn't make it any easier for Veronica to watch as Jessica stops them. Knowing they were different and being able to bring herself to hurt someone, something else was another thing entirely.

Still, she's impressed with not only the fire (which she could also do but with much less control), the ice, but with the way the other woman handles a whip, as well.]

....I do not think it has ever really wanted us to be comfortable.

[Because the things it did, regardless of their intentions had never been kind things.]

Mmhmm.

[Naoki scans around them, his fingers working in an anxious flex, his yellow eyes narrow like he's anticipating more robots to come stumbling out of nearby buildings at any time.]

This place is really, well, falling apart. I dunno if I'd say that they're--CERES or this place--ending or anything, but it feels like it's all going to hell.

[The paper towels are accepted, not particularly happily so but who could be about mopping themselves up. She runs one over a pigtail, knowing what little good it will do in the long run but might as well clean up as best she can.]

My troubles? I'm not sure where to begin. To be honest, this place hasn't been all that kind to me from the very moment I stepped foot into it.

[Plop onto the floor goes a particularly big bit of white foam onto the floor as she knocks it off of her chest. She mutters in a bit of a grumbling tone.]

Or woke up in it really. That bag wasn't a pleasant experience either.

[With all the people running around here and there from the robots themselves, Jessica isn't quite as surprised by the voice as she might be. Veronica is a fairly familiar figure now and Jessica gives the other woman a slight and perhaps somewhat sardonic smile.]

I suppose not. It still would have been nice though.

[That said she turns to more fully face Veronica, tipping her head some.]

You're not wandering around here dealing with the robots, are you?

[Was she much of a fighter? Jessica didn't know and knew better than to judge from looks. Still it's troubling to see someone walking about by themselves. ~~You know, never mind Jessica herself is doing just that.~~]

Well if they're not ending then they're certainly making a good show of it.

[His anxiousness is perfectly justifiable, considering how yet another group of robots have started doing just what he thought they might. They bumble out after a few of the natives and Jessica blows out a breath.]

Ever since the day this district fell apart these creatures have been a nuisance.

[When one of the robots gets a little too close to a native, the redhead seems to have no issue in sending her whip out with a sharp snapping sound to wrap round the robot itself. She jerks her arm back once it's caught, doing her best to fling it back and away from the natives it's helping to chase.]

It really doesn't seem to end but at least they're fairly easy to deal with.

You're not having too much trouble, at least.

[Naoki nods lightly and then he moves himself, intercepting another robot emerging from nearby. He grabs it by the face and smashes it against the ground before rejoining Jessica, like he'd just taken a break for some small thing or another and not robo destruction.]

It's now I'm wondering just how many of these are in the colony... it could be a, er, commitment to try to take all of 'em down.

...it has been happening to many people now. I believe it might be the work of the...spirits that inhabit this planet.

[ Those are the only connections to their elements so he's just assuming here. ]

But I am...not entirely sure, it could be many things. This place is strange in that way. As long as people do not get hurt by this...then that is fine.

Right, those bags... [He recalls that ViViD level.] That was a very cruel trick!

[He frowns as e looks towards her. He wants to help more, but he's not sure how.]

I am sorry to hear about all of that, Jessica-san. This place can be very unpleasant! But, I am also glad that you have endured through all of those hardships! You must be much stronger now!

Stronger?

[She considers a moment.]

I suppose this is teaching me to keep my temper somewhat in check. Though honestly I don't believe I have that much of a problem.

Unfortunately it seems like everything happening is almost designed to hurt someone or other really.

[She stands and nonchalantly tries to wring water out of her skirt.]

I've heard a few talk of the spirits but I confess I don't know much about them. I'm a rather new arrival still.

Maybe but one may as well try, yes?

[Or that's how Jessica sees it anyhow. She's used to venturing to other worlds to solve problems now and that's how she views Cerealia as well.]

We may have been brought here for more nefarious reasons that I first suspected but that doesn't mean we can't define why we are here for ourselves. And at least in my case I would rather be here to crush these creatures before they can hurt others.

[She's quite firm about this as she jerks the robot over to her. By now she's worked out touching seems to spring up fire every time and that seems to fry whatever might be working these robots, at least for now. So she lays her hand against this one, fire sparking up until she's assured it's good and deactivated.]

[He nods.]

Yes! Through every ordeal, we become stronger in some way, even if it just a little bit! [Surely she must be gaining some exp.]

I do not think that there is anything wrong with you! Ah... But even if it is not a big problem, having better control can only be good!

[As he speaks, several corn stalks spontaneously grow from the foam-covered table.]

Indeed. [But then again, Veronica has yet to see a single being (one that brings in people from other worlds) do nice things.]

I am not wandering around dealing with them. I do not wish to hurt them, regardless of whether they are able to feel pain or to think. [And she's not too sure about Jessica wandering around and dealing with them either.]

I am only walking.

...yes that is something Ceres would have happen to us. [ He can't even deny it by this point. ]

I see. Then...I am sorry that you have been brought here when all of this...has been happening. It is not normally so...chaotic.

[... Stalks? Jessica can't help but jump as they more or less shoot out of the foam.]

Ah... yes. Yes, exactly.

[Composure, Jess, composure. She can face the most fearsome of creatures and yet for some reason those stalks just springing up is terribly surprising.]

I see. You should be careful though, the robots themselves don't seem to care much about other's comfort as much as you care about theirs.

[She plants her hands on her hips, her smile growing.]

You're quite a sweet person though, aren't you.
