Who: A few lines of code and one wily, wily tree lady
When: It's the end!
Where: Cerealia, sweet Cerealia
What: Be seeing you, kid
Rating/Warning: PG-13 for tearful goodbyes

//END.EXE

It's the end. The problems have been resolved. The situation has been handled. More than anything else... everything is over. The Flamines are gone, leaving nothing but rubble and odd, lifeless masks in their wakes, with a contract stating they will never return. The Tellus spirits have accepted a new Bridge, and seem pleased. CERES has gone eerily quiet, most likely giving up on Cerealia as a business investment once and for all. Mosley stands near the Research Tower, adjusting his tie one last time.

Tellus has been saved. Your world has been saved.

It's time to go home, isn't it?

Time to go home after a few goodbyes, anyway.

This is Mosley.

So, you're leaving, are you? And who's going to clean up this mess? Me? Do you picture me with, what, a broom in my hand and an apron around my waist? Well, I'll have all of you know that that's just not how it works here. I'm Public Relations, not housekeeping and the fact that none of you have ever really seemed to grasp that... well! It's a good thing I'm unemployed now, isn't it? Jerks.

Oh well, guess it's time to brush up my resume. What do you think of "freelance anarchist"? ... No? I suppose I was never very anarchic. Ah, that's the way the pastry dissolves as they say. I'll figure something out. As for you? Go home already. Get out of here. I never want to see your faces again. Shoo.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ 08:30 ] Mosley does have a point though. With the Flamines gone, well... everything is kind of a mess. Buildings are on fire. Structures are crumbling. Debris litters the streets. Really, it's all a disaster. Do you really want to leave this like that? (Yeah, maybe you do.)

Either way, seems you've got some time before Occidi does her thing and saves your world. If you want to visit some old Cerealian haunts, or gather your belongings, or even try to put out some fires, now's the time.

Just watch out for some falling rubble.

It would really suck to die now, of all times. Pathetic, even. People will laugh.

PHASE II

[ 12:00 ] But hey, all of that aside -- this is it! It's the end, and you made it! Clearly, that means it's time for a party. And Cerealia is always down for parties. It doesn't take long for the remaining functioning bots, now turned back on by your neighborhood friendly Mosley, to get to work and set up a party amidst the rubble and wreckage. There's streamers and a few blow horns, a very soggy cake that might actually have been a stolen wedding cake from one of the closed down bakeries. There's also pizza, since the robots appear to be under the impression that "pizza parties" are a very important Cerealian tradition. It's the only fresh and hot thing around though, so might as well eat up.

So it's not really that party-like, if we're honest. There's not even any music! But they at least scrounged up a small disco light at least, and hey, someone found some booze!

It won't even have any weird affects, aside from, you know, making you drunk like normal alcohol does.

That's gotta be a Cerealia first.

PHASE III

[ 14:30 ] Want to say good-bye to Cerealia properly? Well... ViViD seems to be back up to snuff and functioning again. There isn't the wide variety of levels there once was, but the levels that do exist seem to be safe. Fight together with your friends, take on some quests, play a few more final rounds -- you won't even feel tired afterwards.

Looks like all of those questionable business practices that ViViD was being used for have disappeared just like CERES. Now you can just play and have fun, without fear of ulterior, sinister motives. It might be a good way to pass the time! Or at least feel a little nostalgic for a while.

(Though there are still some unfortunate glitches around, like accidentally getting put in that skimpy bikini armor, or ending up in the Wrong Level. Some things never change. Even the robots seem pretty amused every time it happens.)

PHASE IV

[ 16:00 ] And then, just like that... it's all over. Occidi appears, lifting one branch-y arm, and there's a feeling in everyone's hearts, like something clicking properly back into place.

And their worlds are healed and whole. Occidi fades back then, allowing them their goodbyes and farewells, but the portal won't remain there forever. It doesn't look much more than a ripple in air, wide enough to allow a good handful of people to go at once, and Occidi tells them --

It will remain open for half an hour, and no more. They will have to leave by then. They can leave together, to make certain they end up in the same place, and have to simply think of home. Those who would like to go home with others -- well, make sure you're holding hands, or something like that.

And if ever they want to come back, or go to another world, well... all they'll have to do is return to Tellus. It's doable, if they try, really, really hard.

The clock's ticking. Time to finally say goodbye.

BONUS

[ why o'clock ] Well.

With the return of the other robots, it seems a few others have been turned right back on again. Namely the ones wearing dinosaur suits who want nothing more than to hug you.

The hug bots are back, and they're here to make everyone feel better, since everyone seems so very, very sad! They'll even drag more than one person into a group hug if it seems like that's what they need. Go on, it's your last chance to get manhandled by a robot. Why don't you just let them do it.

For old time's sake.

[ She needs a nap. She badly needs a nap, and perhaps she'll take one, but if nothing else, Otome's had enough rest to regain her magical stamina-- which is exactly why you'll find her helping with putting out fires or offering to help you if you got stuck under some rubble or... just sitting on some rubble, that's fine. ]

There's still so much to be done...

[ In more than one place, apparently.

But then you'll see her setting up an impromptu First Aid Station, so clearly she's going at it hard. ]

[ PHASE IV. ]

[ Well, honestly... there's not a whole lot to say here, no observation to make to herself. Otome's just standing there, staring at the portal-- before she sighs and shakes her head with a very soft smile and turns to begin the hardest part of any encounter.

If she knows you, well. She sure is looking at you expectantly??

(You're probably going to get hugged before you can escape.) ]

[ so that's the end of it.

it's been a little over a year since steven's arrival in the colony, but he still can't quite find the words to voice how he feels about it. there were obviously moments of hopelessness, despair, and fear - he had experienced death twice, both in slow and quick terms.

but there were happy moments, too. friends that you make during hard times are some of the closest ones you can make, and cerealia's were no different. it's bittersweet to think about parting ways, but he's confident that this isn't goodbye forever. portals aside, the devon corporation has already utilized infinity energy to open doors to other dimensions. finding a way to other worlds is just another step for technology to take - maybe he'll make it a priority if he inherits the president's seat from his father.

half an hour seems like too little time to say goodbye and reflect, but it's all that he has. ever the gentleman, he'll be wishing people well as they enter the portal, metagross by his side.

it's all very polite and composed, but if you're someone close to him... that polite smile will fall into something far more genuine. ]

It's a little odd... I don't feel like I'm as prepared for this moment as I thought I was.

[this definitely isn't much of a party atmosphere. stahn knows that this won't be a permanent goodbye for a lot of them—there's no way he's going to let these months be forgotten. he's not going to go home and never look back, because that's not something stahn could ever do. he can't forget about the friends he made and the precious people that could never be replaced. he'll see them again too, because even though he doesn't know all the people personally who are making this possible...

stahn also won't let things like the work of chibi and pyrrha go to waste.

but he's not really in celebratory mode despite knowing that he'll be able to see his friends and family soon and get back to the things he needed to do. he needs to talk to others and share bittersweet goodbyes, he needs to embrace those last moments where they all share a single world and cause. stahn's not at the point where he's too upset about it, but the melancholy is definitely there; it's harder to be the ray of sun he's always been—though maybe someone will be willing to talk it out with him or just give him a reason to be aggressively sunny before the gathering is through.

...or maybe he'll be caught forcing smiles, doing his best to try and be a positive fixture for everyone else. it's forced, without a doubt, and he seems to oscillate between the two pretty easily right now.]

( phase iv; )

[the moment of truth.

it's time for the final goodbyes, and unlike the melancholy that came before it... stahn is much more sad now. he's always been a bit of a crybaby; he's a simple country bumpkin who values the people he loves. so saying goodbye (or... "see you later") isn't easy for him. it's easier when it's only a nation or two away, when you can send letters and know they'll be there in a couple of weeks. not portals, not inter-world travel. not other brands of uncertainty that go over stahn's head.

for a moment, he looks at the portal before turning away. he's not ready—not until he sees some people and says some things... but there's a good chance he may get a bit more emotional than most are used to seeing. this is tough stuff—saying goodbye to so many things. bad memories may have been plenty, but stahn's grown up a lot and had even more good things happen. so he has to let all of that out before he heads forth to be the hero his world absolutely needs, with dymlos in hand.]

( wildcard; )

[anything else to say to stahn that doesn't fit within those prompts can make the goodbyes happen however here!]

[...He does feel a little bad for the city.

For as much as this place put them through, it was still a place Naoki called home for a while. That's why you can see him, well, doing a few little things he can. "Little", but present are his demons. Don't mind the large blue dragon casually picking up rubble, or the little fairy complaining that Naoki's making her do pointless clean-up.

Yurlungur, Jack Frost and Inugami seem to have just wandered off and are playing instead of cleaning. Oh well. Take your victories, right? Naoki just tolerantly snorts and smiles and continues on with what he's doing.]

phase iv.
...

[It all feels a little... strange. Here they are.

They can go back. But Naoki doesn't feel happy. Rather, his expression is blank by now as he gazes (from a distance) at the portal, his fingers winding together, unwinding in his lap, clasping back together again. He's sitting with his feet set apart and never has he felt more torn in his life. He knows what he wants to do, but what he wants and what he has to do are two different things.

He knows what to do. He knows how this will end. He thought he was prepared for it. Part of him never thought it would happen-- hoped? Maybe he did hope for it, in some way. He's not sure anymore.

... Naoki sighs and leans his head back to gaze up at the sky.]

[You know what Kashuu hates? Chores. All manners of chores, from the simplest of dusting tasks to weeding out the garden in the middle of winter.

You know what he's doing right now? Chores. ...Kind of. Cleaning up a ruined city feels a little more noble than making sure that their carpet isn't covered in cheerio dust, but it's the principle of the matter, really! He's elbow-deep in helping people dig their possessions out of crumbled buildings, or covered in soot from helping to put out fires, and he only stops every now and then (by some definition of the phrase) to check a mirror and clean himself up.

Anyone who needs help setting things straight will be joined by this punk in his adventures and greeted with:]
Need a hand? Or a broom? Actually, you could just take the broom if you want. You look like you could use it more than me.

[Or, he can be found helping people carry the kinda lifeless bodies out of the Nexus Code and toward... wherever they're being stored. Piled up near the portal? Set on the sidewalk? Who knows!

In particular, he's taking care with the ones he recognizes and the people he knows immediately, but he'll help anyone who looks like they're struggling to heft around any beefcakes.]

phase iv;
[Half an hour, huh? Somehow, he's not really ready for it. In the time they have left before they need to return to their worlds, now safe and returned, Kashuu is a whirl of activity. He'll be tracking down anyone he knows and chances are almost 10/10 that he'll be launching himself in a full-blown barrel tackle of a hug.

Sorry not sorry if you end up on the ground.

Maybe a little sorry if you conk your head on the way down.

For people he doesn't know as well, he'll be a little more reserved, at least. A clap on the shoulder, or maybe a hair ruffle, or maybe he'll just latch onto your arm.]

You ready to get going?

bonus;
[HERE HE IS, LOCKED IN A CLUSTER EMBRACE WITH who even knows how many other people?! It's only right for him to have at least one more hard time before he ships out and returns to his own world, where he can continue having a hard time.

For now, though, this manhandling hugbot seems a little concerned! It pats Kashuu reassuringly, telling him that it's okay to cry. Kashuu promptly bats its hand away, possibly whacking or elbowing anyone nearby in the process. Whoops.]

Geez, I'm not crying—!

PHASE I: A CLEAN SWEEP

[Edgeworth is quite tempted to leave Cerealia as it is, feeling it deserves to rot. But there are so many safety violations around that he can't help but...go around putting out fires with some help from broken fire hydrants or nearby fountains, or sweep up shards of broken glass from windows and other dangerous garbage. You might find him there.

He will also be found cleaning up at the apartments too because he's searching for his stuff. Pess, his ever-loyal canine companion, is helping him retrieve things - organizers and files with so much information recorded during his stay and during his stay in that other world, dog toys, the sweater Mary made for Pess, to name a few. Edgeworth even took out the pots of little flowers he had begun to grow in his apartment just in case he had to speak to Occidi. There are a good number of those flowers, in different soft colors and some flashy shades of red.

So here is Edgeworth at the apartments with his stuff, kneeling before it and poring over his old paperwork. Oops, he kinda got nostalgic in the midst of cleaning up.]

PHASE II: AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A CEREALIA PARTY...NOT

[All Edgeworth has to eat is the fresh, hot and trustworthy pizza - the dork even eats it with a knife and fork. Geez.

He eats quickly and away from much of the "festivities" before standing up and leaving quietly with his dog on a leash. Are you going to follow him (and maybe tell him that no one eats pizza with a knife and fork)?]

PHASE IV: IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

[With a satchel of the possessions he will take with him, his weapons and his dog, Edgeworth is ready to go home.

Or is he?

With his back to the portal, he looks up and around at this world, a faraway glint in his eyes. Finally, finally, it was time for all of them to return home, to their repaired worlds. No more worldhopping madness, no more battles with crazy monsters and other beings, no more having to write contracts that would impact entire worlds. In the plural. He should have expected and waited for this day to come, but now that it was here...it was suddenly so surreal. Absently Edgeworth ruffles his dog's ears.

He says nothing, does nothing, lost in his thoughts and his memories...and therefore he is a prime target for any hugs or surprise conversations.]

[ Well, you can never say no to free booze, right? At least, it's something to do for now... This isn't the kind of party Hijikata expected because there isn't much energy to it, but hey. The robots are trying right? though, it's almost overwhelming, in a sense. It's basically about to be over, so for once, Hijikata doesn't know what to do. He just wants to go forward, basically; go back home, and continue with his duties. That's all he can really think about now.

but like usual, he's going to be mr. anti social and enjoy some booze. Feel free to approach him though! ]

Phase IV

[ He was sort of ready to go home but not ready for being on the clock. Maybe he should bite the bullet and just leave? Should he go say his farewells? He's been aching to go home, and it's finally time..! He never thought he'd see the day, honestly.

He couldn't help but gather a few belongings though, just a few. Seems weird for as someone that acts just so detached 90% of the time, huh... Well, either way, he'd feel bad if he left certain things here. ]

I guess it's about time I leave, huh.

[ For some reason he doesn't feel as... prepared for it. Weird! Maybe it's just because it feels too good to be true, but he also... maybe. MAYBE!! Might miss some people he's parting with. MAYBE! It's not like he will say that out loud though, gosh.

Ugh. Feelings are hard.

Well, nonetheless! He'll give one more look back to cerealia, taking it all in before he decides to hop on out of here. Feel free to stop him for any goodbyes. ]

[Look, it just wouldn't be a party without the local mermaid hogging the food table. She's grabbed several whole boxes of pizzas and lifted them up in her arms triumphantly-- or as triumphantly as she can. It's not so much that they're heavy, but they're awkward to hold and she's grabbed enough that she can't see over the top of them]

These are mine! Call-- eh, what is word? Dibs! Call dibs! Therefore, no one can touch!

[That's how that works right? Stop her before she crashes into something or someone.]

[Phase IV]

[She stands with her hands on her hips, face a thoughtful frown. She doesn't have the training to hide any of her conflicted emotions, her face an open book.]

...Ah, it is silly, but... Hoped this day would come, a little. But somehow, now that it is here... [She trails off and blinks back tears.]

So much has happened. I have been here since the start, so it is strange to see it from beginning to- to end. I do not know what to think or how to feel. Should be happy, but I am still sad.

[She's mostly just talking out loud, trying to get her jumbled thoughts together and rapidly blinks back tears.] Ah, stupid. Something in my eye.

Ah... This is so stupid! [The return of her favorite word, at least! She stomps the ground childishly] I do not want to go home. I have decided that long ago. Nothing for me there. But if everyone else goes home too, what is there for me here? Stupid...!

PHASE I:
[To be honest, Karl's still waiting for the other shoe to drop, because in his experience, the resolution of one conflict is usually followed up by a worse one immediately after, but until then... he'll take this.

For those who look up to the sky (though it's hard to miss, when a torrent of water comes down on a burning building), they might see a somewhat different-looking Karl, accompanied by a dragon. Most prominently, the crystalline wings on his back, resembling shards of ice. Accompanying those are the ice-like adornments, markings on his face, and pointed ears—and though unlikely to be seen at this distance, fangs, and slitted eyes with a pink sheen in them.

Either way, he'll be landing on the ground soon after. Conclusion so far: flying still feels a tad weird, but it's not a skill he'll need immediately, so he's not too concerned.

... It's still surreal. He spent so much time here training, trying to awaken his demonic side in isolation where no one was liable to witness, but to no avail. And yet, it ended up being so easy.

Here's hoping it's not too late.]

PHASE IV:
[Seeing a portal—or gate, as his mind supplies—is actually really nostalgic, even if it doesn't resemble the ones he knows, and that very sentiment is part of what makes him feel sick to his stomach.

He remembers the first time he crossed the gate to Grand Gaia, and more recently, when he entered Ishgria. The latter is the one he'll be returning to, rather than where the heart is and all, but... hopefully, soon enough, he'll be able to go back home for real. He misses Elgaia. (He misses his friends far more, but...)

If he's still alive, that is. Idealistically, he chooses to believe that he and his friends are. Realistically, though, he realizes that his chances of surviving as soon as he returns are still incredibly low, given his circumstances, and that this might be the last half hour of his life. He's afraid, but it's the failure he fears, more than death. It's for that reason that he's going back; that it's never seriously crossed his mind to choose any other option. He'll face his fate, whichever it is, as long as there's still hope remaining.]

... Tilith, please protect us...

[She won't hear him, he knows, but he has no other gods left to pray to.

In spite of everything, he's impatient to return. He's never been able to fully put aside his mission, to adjust to the relative peace of Cerealia, and now that it's so close, he's feeling more restless than ever to finally settle matters in Ishgria.

Still, he should stick around for a bit longer, for any last goodbyes. That's another part that hurts, although he at least has experience with saying goodbye to a world and the friends he's made in it—if one ever really gets used to such a thing, at least.]

PHASE II

[Hikari was going to pass on the alcohol, thank you. It smelled bad and the people who were drinking it acted funnier than her dad whenever he came home from a late night barhop after work.]

[But the pizza was a definitely plus! She managed to swipe a couple slices for herself, and even an extra for Tailmon. Together, the two sat on one of the dusty sidewalks as they nibbled on their snack. Quietly watching those around them "celebrate" their soon-to-be return trips home. More than a little eager for her and Takeru and Taichi and their digimon to do the same.]

PHASE III

...remind me why we decided to come in here again?

[Tailmon looked part unamused, part honestly confused as she stared down at herself. What she hoped was their final visit into the ViViD games was already off to a questionable start: she and Hikari had already glitched into...rather interesting wardrobe choices. And while it might not have seemed so strange to see the girl wearing her brother's former clothing choice...Tailmon wasn't quite so sure how to feel about being dressed in an Agumon costume.]

[Hikari, meanwhile, was doing her best to hide the giggles behind one hand. Clearly more amused by it all than her partner.]

We wanted to play one last level before going home, remember?

The hat looks good on you.

For the sake of our friendship, Hikari, I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that.

[More giggles was her response.]

BONUS

[Hikari could only stand sheepishly as she watched the poor dinoasaur...robot...creature...getting mercilessly chased by her digimon partner. The scene played out like a Benny Hill sketch, with the duo first running to one side, before making a sharp turn and attempting a run back the way it came. Back and forth, back and forth, for over a minute.]

Ah...Tailmon, I think you can let him go now.

I'm sure he didn't mean any harm.

[Tailmon barely paused in her chase as she called back:]

It was trying to attack you! I saw it!

[The young girl opened her mouth to correct her, before realizing it was futile and instead found a nice pile of rubble to sit herself down on and wait until one or both of them simply got tired.]

Phase I

[Some habits were simply impossible to break, particularly after a lifetime of enforcing them.]

[It was for that reason alone that Iris would be found out on the streets, the sleeves of her uniform rolled up slightly, kneeling on the ground as she attempted to sweet up some of the debris from the ground. There was...a lot of it. It seemed a near futile cause. She was convinced she'd had to clean up worse before.]

[Depending upon one's definition of 'worse', she may even have been right.]

[Beads of sweat marred her brow, but she paid them little heed. There were three trash cans on fire. She fetched the water, bucket by bucket, until they were fully extinguished. Hard labor was something she was accustomed too, and even when the job required her to pick up and move some of the larger rocks, she was able to do with with surprising ease. Working tirelessly until she'd actually cleared a whole street path that had previously been too rocky to risk crossing.]

There. That's a little better.

Phase IV

[The portal opened. Iris...stared blankly at it.]

[There was surprisingly little emotion to her expression, given the weight of what was about to occur. She was about to go home. The portal would take her there. Back to--if she had understood correctly--around the precise moment she had been taken. And place. Which meant...jail. Her unexpected furlough was coming to and end, and when faced with the realization, she felt...]

[...she felt...]

[...and that was, perhaps, the most confusing part of all. Iris didn't know what to feel. Which was why she continued to stare out, hoping the epiphany came to her before she had to take those final steps.]

It's all set, for once.]

[Yet, it hasn't quite hit him until now, that everyone is leaving. On Tellus, more than ever, it's easy to become used to the transience of relationships; their simultaneous fading is jarring, lonely. Chibi traces the side of one of the Zaaps with a callused hand and thinks.]

[All things End, but all things, too, begin. Mortals die, their wakfu seeps into the soil, and then those mortals are reborn - their gazes, their gait reflected in a butterfly's wingbeat. Worlds end; his ended. Worlds begin, too, in the same fires that ended the Eliatropes' reign. Cerealia ends; Tellus continues, heedless of the portal's opening. Hell, he'll make friends with the natives, he's sure - and he knows he'll see his friends and loved ones again. The Goddess, too, is all around him - she always has been.]

[ It's really odd how calm the end feels. Just like that, their worlds are back. Although Kyouko is relieved that her world is restored, she knows that there's a lot of work to be done when she goes back. While it may have been brought back, it's certainly nowhere near perfect.

Although all she's wanted since she got here was to go home, she's... conflicted and almost hesitant to go. She knows what she needs to do, yet she can't help but linger around.

While Kyouko's silent for the most part, if anyone approaches her, she'll turn towards them. ]

Bonus.

[the beer has been drank, the snacks have been stuffed down his throat-- some goodbyes have been mumbled. It isn't as though this is The End Forever...just of this chapter. There's no need for him to be so sappy!!

Even though...he feels hella sappy. Thank god he climbed on his bike just in time before he felt some kind of Emotion aside from gas. And the gas-guzzling thrum of the bike's engine beneath him. Yeah, remember that thing? He's peeling out, folks!

But not before one last thing. If you're leaving as well, you will see Kaneda before a group of those Huggers, beaming. Oh, awww, Kaneda's going to--

he's going to uhhhhh

there's the sound of a sickening scream, a crash!!

He ran over one of them. Nice.]

i | i will remember you
[ The people she knows she tracks down, her red backpack beat up and clinging to her back as she navigates the devastation of the city once again. She twitches and darts and moves like someone who still expects an attack, in the thoughtless way of one whose become used to running to survive. Chihiro doesn't even notice the way she moves anymore, aside from judging distances to safe points or what she can avoid or clamor over, depending on her needs at the given moment.

But she's focused. Tired, mostly clean when she remembers to freshen up, she's dogged in tracking down the people she cares about. To all on her approach, she's calling out their name, and then:
]

Hey! Can we talk for a while?
ii | will you remember me?
[ ooc: this is actually the wildcard for reasons unknown HOLLA hit me up with this for a randomized prompt tailor made to you, or give me one of your own! you can also ask for a particular mood! happy/sad/silly/etc. ]
iii | don't let your life pass you by
[ The people left lifeless having spilled out of the Nexus Code leave the small hairs on the back of her neck constantly standing on end. Regardless, Chihiro has rolled up her sleeves, trekking in after several nervous starts where she couldn't quite bring herself to go in.

She can't handle anyone bigger than she is. It's why she's brought in a blanket, and it explains the kind of nutty process of events involved once Chihiro finds a familiar face, shivering as she tugs at people who might be Jack the Doppleganger, Rhys, perhaps that guy Gilbert Nightray, any person she has met since she arrived who disappeared and did not find themselves awake again once the Flamines descended upon them all.

She doesn't know their worlds. She doesn't know what to do with them. And frankly, as she struggles to roll an adult onto the blanket she's laid out, she mostly has to think that she's doing this because she can't rest thinking these people might not go to a home, or have a life, or...

Rubbing at the tears that brim in her eyes, Chihiro grits her teeth and grimly works on, little more than grunts and exclamations and once (once!) cursing with a word learned from Kaneda under her breath as she tries to drag out one-time acquaintances and friends to Cerealia proper, and whatever future would await them beyond that place.
]
iv | weep not for the memory
[ She tries her hardest not to cry. This doesn't have to be goodbye. It's not always a sayonara, but too often that's what it feels like, and while that's natural, too, it hurts. After the traumatic bonding of the last few months of her life, months less than those who had been manipulated and used by CERES far before she ever woke in their simulations, people here almost feel more real than her life does back home.

She's losing them. It feels like losing part of herself. And in the scant time before they all leave, for the ones she had yet to break down crying for (or even those she has), or smiling, or saying "see you later" or "goodbye", she crashes into them now with a grunt and impolite arms that wrap around waists or chests or necks (carefully), whatever she can reach.
]

'm gonna miss you.

[ She declares, eyes screwed shut. ]

[ ooc note: all threads using this prompt are going to be wrapped in five comments! before she runs off to the next person and eventually goes through the portal home. ]

Phase I

[It's been nearly a year since Rei Hino first walked through the doors of this apartment. Four bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen, and a living space. Her home, the home of all five Inner Senshi at various points, a place for her two servants, her robot panda. The site of dinner parties, movie nights, late night rendezvous with her love, and a dozen other things. It was strange, but now that she was here at the end of it all, she was having a little difficulty stepping out that door.

It stood open, with both Lacus and the crows waiting outside while she checked over things one last time. A heavy looking suitcase and backpack sat against the outside wall, and she kept going through it all, fretting a little until at last she steps outside and closes the door.]

Well. That's...finished. It's tidy and neat, as it should be.

[Looking around, she smiles at you as you walk by.]

Ready to go?

[Phase IV]

[Through Occidi's ceremony, Rei remains silent, taking it all in. She looks at the assembled faces, the friends and family she's found, and finds it hard not to start tearing up. There are some who are going with her, of course, and she knows that thanks to Chibi they'll have the chance to see one another again. And if that failed, there were other ways. Other powers. She made promises, and she will see them through.

She'll approach anyone she'd call a friend, arms extended in a truly grateful hug, and a gentle smile.]

And here we are together, at the end of it all. We made it.

[ PHASE I ]

[ It doesn't feel real, yet. The dust has barely settled, they'd been so close to losing everything - again - and yet somehow they were alive. He and Mabel had survived (technically) another apocalypse. Two for two's a pretty good record, right? And just like in Gravity Falls, once the peace had fallen and the danger neutralized, it was time to tie things off and go back to where they came from.

Dipper and Mabel were going home. They could even remember their adventures here, and possibly see their friends again, if those portals really worked. And hey, if they didn't, Dipper happened to be related to someone who has an interdimensional portal in his basement. No fuss.

It all sounded great. It all sounded like basically everything they could ask for after what they had gone through in this place. He should be happy.

But it's not that easy. It never is, is it?

There aren't many places Dipper feels a need to go back and visit, or help clean up (sorry, Mosley), but he visits the newly-old apartment. Several chunks of wall are missing, and it's nowhere near as cozy as it used to be. But he has things there to gather up. Making his way around the apartment, Dipper starts to fill up his backpack with his scattered belongings. Various notebooks full of scribbled theories, sketches of monsters from the jungle and labyrinth, some sweaters Mabel made for him. Small tokens of his time spent in this place. It's a solemn task, and there are a few things he lingers on as he holds them in his hands. ]

...Iiiii'm sure glad I don't have to clean this place up.

[ Whoops, hopefully no one's in earshot right now. Otherwise he's going to be one of those weird kids who talks to themselves. Well, he already is, but then someone else will know it. ]

[ PHASE II ]

[ Okay look, he might be a little world-weary today, but he's also a 13-year-old boy. He's not going to pass up hot pizza and cake.

Except he's attempting to pull two slices of pizza apart while only touching one of the slices. You know the scenario. We've all been there before, awkwardly trying to not touch someone else's slice but also trying to not pull all the cheese off at the same time. It's a difficult balance to strike. ]

Uhhh...do you...want to grab that one?

[ Please help a brother out. ]

[ PHASE IV ]

[ It's time, and all the doubts that have been lingering at the fringe of his mind beckon to him.

He's never been good at goodbyes. Even when they'd left Gravity Falls, it was with the promise that they could return next summer. His and Mabel's adventures there could continue. They could go home and grow up, and now they still had to do that. He can't stay thirteen on an alien planet forever. He doesn't want to, either.

He wants to grow up with his sister. That hasn't changed.

But so much else has.

He doesn't approach the others - not quite. Though he may slowly edge towards his friends. It's totally not obvious at all. That he's. Slowly getting closer to them.

For all his experience in Cerealia, Dipper is still as awkward as day one. ]

[Cao Pi isn't interested in your pizza any more now than he was the last few times. But he has a glass of grape wine and may be returning to refill it now and again as he walks around, looking to see if there's anyone he cares to bid farewell. For the most part, though, he looks detached, aloof. He isn't hiding, though, he walks straight through the crowd with head swiveling in search of certain people.

Yes, this means he's here come bother him but at a time like this, that may just be what some of his acquaintances want. A moment. A farewell. One last smirk.
]

IV

[This isn't a time for farewells, though. As long as the portal is aimed toward Orochi's demon dimension where his father, his wife, his dearest comrades, and his kingdom currently are, Cao Pi is simply going to go. No looks back, no more well-wishes. He truly wants to get out of this place and where others linger and hesitate, he strides right through.

Farewell, Cerealia, forever.

Phase i

[Usagi didn't have a whole lot she had gathered beyond some prizes from games and clothes, in terms of personal items she cherishes and actually wants to keep. But she still heads to the apartment to get them, to let herself get lost in the memories for a moment. Of course, she wasn't here nearly so long as some others, but even so.

She sniffs, as she stands at the door with a bag mostly full of clothing and stuffed toys (rabbits, mostly).]

For all that I missed home....I am going to miss it.

[It was.....it was fun. Like a big sleepover with Rei and the others, before Ami and the rest were taken with the Nexus Code. Mostly, she's sad for the friends she'll miss, that she won't necessarily get to see back home.

When she does finally move, making to head off, one of the soft toys drops to the floor, falling out of the bag as she turns.]

Phase ii:

[Well. Usagi is never one to deny herself food. Or the company of friends. So, of course she can be found at the 'party' of sorts. So she will be chatting and munching on that pizza. Probably also getting some of the sauce from it around her mouth in the process.]

Phase iv:

[This is it though. They've all wanted this. Or, most of them. Even if some might prefer to stay behind, or some might prefer to go home to a friend's world instead. Usagi isn't sure how to feel. Relieved, nostalgic and homesick for her own room at the Tsukino residence, sure. But also there's a sense of loss and loneliness at the same time, having to say farewell. Farewelling friends she would never have otherwise met if not for ending up here with everyone else.

Either way, they're leaving. And of course as a result Usagi may be getting kind of clingy. And tearful as she says her goodbyes to friends she has made during her time here. Sorry, those she hugs may get slightly damp shoulders as a result.]

[ phase iv. ]

[ It's a little strange that out of all the people from his world who were here before, Rideaux is the only one who's still here at the end. But that's the kind of person he's always been, after all. He's always done everything in his power to ensure that in any situation he would be the last one standing.

He still pauses momentarily in front of the portal, not because he feels any sadness at leaving anything or anyone here behind, but because he's not sure what to expect when he goes back to his world. From this point, things could either go very well or very badly. He'd been slated to die just a few minutes after the point from which he'd come, he knows, and for several months he had resigned himself to that seemingly inevitable end. But now that he's contracted the Flamines to destroy the remaining fractured dimensions -- a task that had been insurmountable for his world's living chromatus users -- he's feeling more hopeful now than he has in years, if cautiously so. If those dimensions are gone and completing Origin's Trial is no longer necessary to ensure the continued survival of humanity, then he has a chance at living to see another day. (Saving all those other lives and being able to take credit for it would just be a nice bonus.)

If things don't work out like he's hoping, though... well, he'll have to cross that bridge when he comes to it.

(Unless he is that bridge.) ]

[Rock Lee dashes through the ravaged streets of Cerealia while pulling a sleigh filled with his friends' lifeless bodies.

...He's back from a trip to the Nexus Code, alright? And this seemed like the best way to carry loads of them out at the same time. He has a wide variety of friends whom he wants to make sure get back home! This is his last mission... He just may have to try to avoid fire and falling debris as he makes his way towards the portal's site. ...Whoops, did someone just fall out?]

[Phase III]

[Once that task was completed with the portal not yet up and running, Rock Lee makes his way to a ViViD machine. He had heard that it was back up and running without the shady elements, so he couldn't help but be tempted to give it one last try.

He turns to whoever else is there with him - whom he either badgered into coming with him or is just coincidentally also there.]

Please, let us play one last hot-blooded game of youth! I am sure that it will be a time to remember!

[Except that it will end up being in a random environment with random and ridiculous costumes.]

[Phase IV]

[The final hour has come. In the wake of Occidi's announcement, Lee is standing still for once as the reality of this situation hits him like a punch from Neji.

It's time. Time to leave behind this world that he has called home for the last year. Even if it wasn't his true home and was fraught with peril and hardship, it's still a place where he's gone through many trials and forged many incredible bonds of friendship. Bonds that he'll now have to say goodbye too.

Yep, it's time for the waterworks. Rock Lee is soon a sobbing mess as he looks towards the portal.]

H...half an hour? Just half an hour... that's all the time that we have!

How... how can I be expected to say goodbye to so many dear people in just that amount of time? How?!

[Phase II]

[It's a very odd and awkward party. But, in that sense it's probably the most fitting send-off that they could get. Really, Phoenix is just cautiously relieved that things seem to be working out so far. Their contract seems to have gone through, and they'll all get to go home.

Maybe now he can finally kick back and relax, with some pizza and "grape juice". He also takes out some cards and shuffles them as he sits down at a table. Ready to go a game of poker, or just want to talk? Either way, he's the Wright man for the job.]

[Phase IV]

[Goodbyes are never easy. And these ones come with a time crunch. But that's alright... Phoenix feels like he does his best work when the pressure's on. He looks around anxiously for a moment, for any other familiar face to say goodbye to.]

So... this is it, huh?

[END]

[There's a number of unconcious people from his world who get placed through the portal one by one. It's an unsettling job, but one that has to be done for them all to be free from this. He still can't truly face what happened to the spirit mediums who did not end up in the code, but he'll instead focus on the relief that comes with sending Pearls and Mia peacefully back home.

Eventually, there's only one left. His daughter, Trucy. He cradles her in his arms as he looks into the portal. Fear and doubt trickle within him. What if this doesn't work?

But resolve soon appears to vanish that. The impossible can happen here. Even if that's come against him so many times, it's also saved him and his friends, and that rule will see them all home safely now too, as if this was all just a dream. And he's not alone. Iris, Edgeworth, Maya, Larry... They're all hear and all supporting him.

He's ready.

Phoenix takes a moment to look down at Trucy with a soft smile.]

...Come on, sleepyhead. Time to wake up.

[With that, Phoenix steps right into the portal. With a brilliant flash of light, the Wrights are gone from this world...]

[Somehow, she still has some items left.

Lili's not a materialistic person by any means, which is probably why it's a bit surprising that she's gone back to looking for some of her personal items - it's a little pouch with a simple tie, but the baubles that she's pulling out from it certainly look rather precious. Ornate jewelry from the looks of it. The bag is only a fraction full now... and she seems displeased with even that.

If she catches your gaze, she might hold out one of these shiny pieces at you.]

People like souvenirs or something, right?

Take this from me.

You can sell it later if it's not to your taste. I don't really care.

[ PHASE IV ]

[It was fine - until it wasn't.

Lili was fine - until she wasn't.

Just second ago she was prepared to depart from this place, gaze even and calm and ready to return to whatever her world had in store for her. There was no doubt in her mind that she would be returning to her lands, after all. Her tribe needed her. But then - ]

H-Half an hour?!

[GUESS WHO ISN'T READY FOR SUDDEN EMOTIONAL GOODBYES.

Guess who probably isn't ready for goodbyes at all.

She's jumping a little bit, looking around to see who's nearby - as if they'll have any idea how to deal with this better than she will. Admittedly Lili is all set to go home - a new sword at her back along with her pouch - but actually being told there's a time limit is something else entirely.

Despite herself and the calm demeanor she possessed all of two minutes ago, there might already be tears springing to the corners of her eyes.]

phase i:

[ if they’re going to leave this place, then tidying up is the least they can do. and by “they”, he means everyone else, who seems to be sweeping glass shards and fighting debris with some strange level of enthusiasm. as for tsurumaru, he’s headed nowhere in particular, his jacket drawn around him as he wanders around the streets of cerealia — watching people helping other people. it’s a strange sense of camaraderie that he’s not sure if he likes or dislikes.

(there are also two things currently missing from his outfit: one is the circular crest that he wears, but the other one is a little more noticeable — the gold chain that he usually has threaded across the back of his jacket is no longer there.)

still, he wants to pitch in somehow, even if it’s not on the scale of some of cerealia’s most energetic volunteers. so whether you’re carrying more trash bags than you can handle, need someone to help you sweep, or have your possessions stuck beneath the building rubble, he’s going to step in. ]

Do you need some help?

phase iv:

[ for the most part, tsurumaru hasn’t disclosed his own plans to anyone else — aside from vague comments about death that don’t seem out of place if made at any other time... because you can’t tell people about plans that you don’t actually have. while this place has put its residents through a lot, he’s not eager to leave immediately. after all, it was in this place that he met new people, made new friends, learned more about his comrades, and found things that brought him happiness.

so even now, as he stares blankly at the portal, he’s still uncertain about his decision. there’s a difference between what he wants and what people want him to want, the latter of which ties in to what’s good for him. when he looks back up, he tries to crack a smile. it’s a half-hearted attempt. ]

Are you ready?

[ spoken as if he’s staying right here where he is, ready to accept his fate of death.

...except surprise, he’s ultimately going back home with the other swords but no, he’s not going to let you think that right now.

he’s already even packed his belongings: he has a small, white bag slung over his shoulder, but he’s concealed it beneath his jacket — because where one would expect him to stuff cerealia’s most expensive desserts, he’s brought with him a few items, such as presents that people have given to him. ]
