[ It's been about a week since Ryuko started the Ceres Juice gig. Management has said that she had the right "look" as an attendant, but her attitude could use some improvement. The trick to attracting customers is to always SMILE and make them feel SPECIAL. Of course, Ryuko would have none of that, as those sound more like job requirements for the Pleasure District... however, a girl needs to make ends meet somehow. How else is she going to buy that motorcycle?

With a clearly forced smile, Ryuko greets any patron that approaches the counter. ]

Welcome to Ceres Juice~! Where we do the hard juice, so you don't have to! ( What the hell does that even mean? ) ...Uh. What will it be today~?

[ Sometime later, in an hour when the Shopping District is less busy, Ryuko can be seen neglecting her duty and trying to catch some quick power naps at the counter. Senketsu, her talking uniform that only Ryuko can hear, is trying to keep her from falling asleep. He tells her that if she's having trouble staying awake, then she shouldn't stay up so late the night before. ]

Hnngh... gimme a break, Senketsu... it ain't like anyone's gonna see us...

[ To anyone who's oblivious about Senketsu, she looks like a crazy person just talking to her inanimate clothes. ]

[ Hooray, it's lunch break!! Now she can really slack off and not get in trouble by anyone. Her work ethics could use some brushing up, however, as she's sitting with her bum on the counter and back turned towards any customers. With a delicious McCeres Burger in hands, she's not letting anyone ruin her 30 minutes of paradise. ]

Go away. [ She takes another mouthful. ] Busy.

O-Oh.. yeah, well... they didn't give me a lot of options, y'know? I just figured this would be the easiest. [ Ever the underachiever. ]

Kinda glad ya showed up, though. I was about to fall asleep on the clock, ahaha...!

Nothing like that. I'm just a doctor's assistant for now. [As suspected they wouldn't let him be an actual doctor at this point. But maybe he can work his way up there.] Although the doctor I work for isn't around a lot so I end up doing a lot of the work anyway.

[Speaking of work...] Did you just get a job here?

I'm use to it. [The doctor he worked under back home (before his untimely death) had often done the same thing. And Jude's the type that's easy to push work on to boot as he'll do it without complaint.]

Doctors are busy so I don't mind handling non-emergency patients.

[ really, he'd just been looking out of curiosity, but that catchphrase is so odd that he has to question it. ]

[Honestly, Edgeworth prefers this honestly grumpy Ryuko over fake smiley Ryuko.]

I visited their legal department. This isn't an actual nation, or city, or anything of the sort, but a colony meant to keep us under control and "treated fairly". [Fairly, they say, while inflicting their esteemed guests with crazy events.] CERES is the governing body until they can draft a better system of rules.

It sounds like a fancy way of sayin' they can play by whatever rules they make up at the time. [ She wonders if Edgeworth shares a smiliar opinion, and stares at him deeply to gauge his reaction. Could this be the certain ally she and Lee need for their plan...? ]

[prosecutory]

Hmph, they are in a position to dictate any rules they want to enforce.

[He sounds disdainful. This isn't a state or whatever, yeah, but still, it's almost like a dictatorship. There was no court to strike down the rules they could make, or heck, no laws to circumscribe the kinds of rules that could be laid down.]

And we're just supposed to be okay with that? [ To be fair, CERES hasn't done anything malicious as far as Ryuko knows. She just doesn't like the idea of fighting a battle by someone else's rules, and make no mistake, this whole thing is a long battle to her. ]

To hell with that...

Personally, I am not "okay" with this. [He folds his arms across his chest while waiting patiently for his juice. This discussion gives him something to do and think about, at least.

Edgeworth isn't okay with it, no, but he wouldn't arrange a violent rebellion or storm the castle, so to speak, either.]
