Welcome to the CERES! You are now under arrest!

Did you think the glitches were over? Boy, were you wrong! Through the last remnants of the digital kerfluffle, the latest batch of recovered code has manifested in CERES' computer systems as the guilty parties. Yes, that's right, all incoming arrivals are now placed on the wanted list, accused of having committed the heinous crime of creating and releasing the gorg0n virus all over Cerealia. These vicious twelve have been working together all along and conspiring against CERES, and it's now up to everyone to figure out if the new arrivals are truly guilty or if they are as innocent and confused as they claim.

In the meantime, CERES has dispatched assassination droids to stop the accused and bring them to justice via disembowelment. So while CERES rushes to stop the droids from committing murder, characters are perfectly welcome to a.) soil themselves b.) fight off the droids c.) run while soiling themselves or d.) cry a lot. e.) ask for assistance!

"ASSASSINATION MODE: ONLINE
OBJECTIVE: ELIMINATE THE ACCUSED
TIMEFRAME: 24:00 HOURS

JUDICIAL UNIT-00345 DISPATCHED"

//SCENARIOS.EXE
PHASE I
[ 00:01 ] It's a minute passed midnight, and the newest sets of recovered code are being spat out of ViViD and into Cerealia. Before the joyful reunions begin, an announcement starts blaring through everyone's computer screen, TV sets, devices, billboard screens, and so on. The image flashes with twelve names and twelve pictures along with a list of crimes each person has committed. They continue to flash again and again throughout the colony, alerting everyone of these heinous criminals. It's up to anyone if they want to engage them or stay far, far away from these perverts and miscreants.

As the arrivals begin to explore, they will see themselves plastered on just about every screen imaginable.
PHASE II
[ 2:00 ] It's still dark outside, hardly anyone out and about. It's the perfect time for an assassination attempt because that's when the information is received and processed by Cerealia's judicial system, but this isn't a job for any ordinary donut-eating cop. No, this is far greater than that. They bring out the big guns.

Twelve assassination droids, clad in armor and carrying katana, are immediately dispatched and sent to take out each of the accused at any cost. Characters are welcome to do any of the above choices while veterans to Cerealia can assist the arrivals, assist the droids, or just sit back and watch others suffer. It's completely up to you. They can also run into the droids on their search and try to interact with them.
PHASE III
[ 7:00 ] Your friendly CEO has finally gotten his ass out of bed, but by then, who knows how many people are left alive? After hearing of the kerfluffle, he decides to issue a cease and desist on the assassination droids, and instead, has his investigation units step in to confirm that the new arrivals are not guilty of any of the crimes and charges listed under their name. They will be pulled aside for painful, painful questioning before being released to explore as they wish.

To make up for all the damages and trauma incurred from the near-death attempts, Julius will also be giving the new arrivals a settlement of 20,000 credits each, so go out and party.
PHASE IV
[ 12:00 ] By noon, the incident has been cleared up with little to no blood spilled (hopefully). New arrivals are welcome to explore and enjoy their new living arrangements or possibly lie in bed and just cry some more. Either way, welcome to the magic that is Cerealia. The CEO will announce that the last of the virus has been officially cleaned up and taken care of, and he'll be issuing a video with a public apology for all.

BONUS
[ why:o'clock ] Among the police droids dispatched, there will be a rehabilitative droid in a dinosaur suit, looking to cure the criminals of their improper behavior and their moral indiscretions through the power of LOVE and HUGS. It was developed after the researchers in CERES did extensive research on other worlds and found that this mystical creature was capable of creating worldwide joy and cheer. It will be chasing those who are on the Wanted List exclusively, but it will not stop at just them. Your character will be accosted and hugged whether they like it or not.
[ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with trigger-y or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

//RUN.EXE
Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's arrival experience and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you!

[That's abusive and Tenka would be mad about it if he wasn't falling. Except now he's falling because Sousei totally just made him fall. What a partner.

Regardless, this is something that Tenka's used to, so even once he's a heap on the ground, ungraceful and a little broken, he's just huffing indignantly. What did he even say to deserve that? He thought that he was saying the right thing - he has a purpose. He won't stop until he has that purpose fulfilled.

. . . but to not give up-

He wrinkles his nose.

The frustration builds because what decisions is he supposed to stand by? Why is there a caveat to them being partners? That's awful, as far as he's concerned. Sousei shouldn't even offer the position at all if he's going to put limitations on it.

And it's that sort of thing that gets the rest of Tenka's irritation to bubble over.]

Like my decision to leave the Yamainu? Like my decision to let my brothers and the townspeople to cry over my execution? Like my decision to keep living off the monster that brings suffering to my hometown?

[How can he be proud of any of that? It made sense to him at the time, of course it did. He did what he had to, he'd always thought, but-]

How am I supposed to not regret it when I've hurt people? My brothers? The people of Shiga? The Yamainu? You?

[He gives up on any sense of decorum now, falling flat on his back and looking up at the sky. It's easier than staring down an empty road surrounded by foreign architecture and buildings that don't look anything like home.

This sky doesn't look like home either, but dammit, he has to try.]

I did what was required of me, I always did - but... does that mean that's the right decision?
deontology: (XII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-10-23 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
[And Sousei takes all of that irritation, remaining unflustered, expression unruffled. He knows that he's putting a lot on Tenka's shoulders--but he also knows that he refuses to lose his partner again, and that there are a hell of a lot of things that Tenka has to atone for and learn from.

Because Tenka did what he had to do, and while Sousei doesn't agree with the decisions, he knows that that's the case. And those choices can't be undone.

The life he's lived can't be unlived.

Sousei waits, and when Tenka asks, he has an answer ready. He's had so much to say to Tenka. And he doesn't intend to hold back, now that he can finally say it all. He's had so much on the tip of his tongue, and Tenka was dead, and now--

Now he'll say it.]

You were always such an irritating, selfish, loud-mouthed teacher. [Sousei crosses his arms, looking out at an unfamiliar, foreign, futuristic city.]

...But the things you taught me, I have carried with me, and I will not forget them. [He will carry that dream that Tenka offered him, no matter what. He won't ever give it up.] Because you were also a worthwhile teacher, and someone worth following.

Now it is your turn to learn. [Because Tenka can't always live as the charismatic guide to everyone else. He has to, at some point, grow himself.] Learn from your past choices, and if you require further understanding, I will return the favor.

[Just as Tenka did for him when they were children.]

[Just nodding like it's the most obvious thing in the world, wow.]

I am, at least! Not many people... what, set themselves on fire to fight and survive? [And then she's getting A Look™... He's both incredulous and vaguely impressed!!] So it seemed reasonable to assume the same.
unjustify: breadcrusts (an idiot.....)

[personal profile] unjustify 2014-10-23 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
[And this one is crazy and a loser, wow. He just hit the jackpot.

THAT SAID, once again Naoi doesn't seem too confused by this, or even very surprised. He's pretty sure Shiina showed up around that time period - earlier, even, now that he thinks about it. There were probably people wandering around that school from before the 1500s...

He also has a finely tuned sense for when people are fLAGRANTLY LYING about understanding stuff from the future, considering he's dealt with it for years and years. So he decides to be actually helpful for once!]

I can show you one. They're all over the place so it shouldn't be hard to find, and it's good to know where to go if you ever get stuck starving on the side of the road without enough money for groceries.
sunshrouded: (☀ you kept trying to highlight my face)

[personal profile] sunshrouded 2014-10-23 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
[This asshole.

Even as Sousei's finishing his list of complaints, Tenka's burying the heels of his palms against his eyelids. The pressure is distracting and maybe takes away a bit from the fact that Sousei feels the need to continue to add insult to injury - literally.

. . . or well, that's what he's thinking until he continues on.

Was he someone worth following? Was what he was doing right?

He's silent as he can already feel the pinpricks of tears, applying more pressure from his hands even as he does nothing but breathe and listen.

Does he need to learn? What more does he need to learn? How much more does the world have to offer him?

And it's with that thought that a bit more clicks into his place. He wants to know what his brothers' smiling faces look like when the sky is clear again. He wants to know what excuse Shirasu has to offer for causing such a ruckus. He wants to know what Kiiko looks like when she's not on the job. He wants to know if Ashiya has a comfortable place to live now, if he's finally made friends with the rest of the Yamainu.

He wants to know just how much his partner is willing to put up with.

So his voice is scratchy, rough with emotion as it is, even as he strains a smile.]

... Jeeze, you're way too much, Sousei. You'd probably be a shitty teacher too, you know.

[ . . . and yet, he breathes another sigh.]

But I guess that score should be settled.
deontology: (XVI.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-10-23 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
[And it's clear that it's gotten through to Tenka. It's clear that he's finally listening, and somehow, it's a weight off of his shoulders. All of that guilt, all of those unsaid words, the fact that the last real conversation they had had had been an argument (about Tenka leaving the Yamainu, and Sousei still doesn't completely understand, but he thinks he's starting to).

The weight of all of those things that would never be shared had been much too much.

And now, as if it's too good to be true, Tenka is right here, lying before him and breathing, and even if he sounds as if he's going to cry, he's still so very Tenka.

Sousei scoffs, a sound that only Tenka draws out of him.]

It should be, and it will be. But for now...stand up.

[He'll offer a hand, because you don't get a partner without the assistance. You don't get to stand alone, when you agree to have a partner.]

We have work to do.

[There is still a lot he needs to know about Tenka's situation. There is still a lot that has been buried for the both of them. But lying on the ground in a city that isn't theirs when enemies stalk their path is not the time.

There will be time. And Sousei was quite sincere when he said he didn't intend to allow Tenka to leave again. So for now, he'll support him, until they can be safe, and then they will talk about everything, and he will see if they really can finally see eye-to-eye.]
deontology: (XV.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-10-23 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
[His prize is more headaches.

But at least there are those small favors. Naoi is both not calling him out on his blatant lie about understanding, and he's being legitimately helpful.

Also, he's not freaking out about the time period Sousei is from. That's nice too.]

It would be appreciated.

[he will never be stuck starving on the side of the road]

And what year are you from?
unjustify: juuzawa (sounds like a plan)

[personal profile] unjustify 2014-10-23 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Sometimes he manages to actually get things right! Except then he just creates more headaches, so it's a pretty even give and take...

That said, he'll gesture over his shoulder and then turn to start walking. ONWARD, FRIEND.]

This way! [As for the question, his gaze rises upward briefly.] That's a tough question. It's been a while since I died, and we don't really keep track of the years in the afterlife. After 2000, though! But you're not too far behind.

[Yeah... yeah... here comes the rest of the headache here it comes.]
deontology: (VII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-10-23 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
[That's enough to give him pause. Well done, Naoi. You've increased his headache.

(2000 is a very large year compared to 1878, okay.)]

...You're dead. [It's stated very, very flatly, but...well.

really.

It's not even that he doesn't believe it so much as he doesn't understand why this is happening to him.]
unjustify: breadcrusts (omniscience duh)

[personal profile] unjustify 2014-10-23 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
[HE CLIMBED THE MOUNTAIN.]

Yep. [Just "yep"...] I still don't really understand why I can be here with people who aren't dead, but I guess that part wasn't a lie. The part about them trying to restore every world... [Even the worlds that are comprised entirely of dead people, apparently.]

I was brought back to life once before in the place that I was dragged to before CERES got me, though, so I guess it could be something like that too.

[ 'Someone' isn't much of a descriptor. There's no way in hell Nine's going to find anyone just going off of that. He needs more here. He does want to help. It goes passed being a police officer at this point. He just knows what it's like to be in that position, and it sucks not having anyone to turn to or anywhere to go.

She may be a brat, but he's not going to just leave here around in the midst of all this mess. ]

Who's this 'someone'? You got to give me more to go on. There aren't that many people from other worlds, so I might have run into them already.

[ He remembers when they first arrived and were all that fair, so it's possible this 'someone' of hers is lingering around somewhere... if they're even here at all. It's worth a shot looking for them. ]

What do they look like, at least? I'm good at rememberin' stuff.

[personal profile] particularity 2014-10-23 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe-- I can help you carry it.

[But Ten-nii? Aniki?? Hinata looks surprised, considers for half a second before deciding that no he couldn't possibly... the only one he could call something like aniki is Kuzuryuu and that'd just be to see if he'd be happy about it or not. Ah, informally exchanging cups with a yakuza... In the end, with an acknowledging nod:] Tenka.

The Japan I'm from is probably... a lot further along in time than yours. If not different altogether. That's the things with places like this one.

[A gesture at the area around them before he shifts toward the dinosaur-costumed robot...]

What sort of neighbourhood do you think I come from?

[ Okay, so he did have quite a few iljin years back when he was younger, but that's mostly due to being dragged into it by his best friend, okay.. it's not something he casually would have thought up by himself. Probably. ]

[Hinata nods his agreement with those words.]

Maybe this is their secret weapon or their special security group... or something like that.

[Assassins! In that case, how strong is their military power? But they're relying on robots, that can be manipulated to turn against them.

...hahhhhh this is a terrible set-up.]

I have been wondering the same thing.

[In his time, even, guns are overtaking swords, though there are those like him who can use swords well enough to deal with guns anyway.

But in this time...

Well, he finds it hard to believe that swords were their best choice.]

...I suppose I should not question stupidity when it is in my favor. [He's glad he's not full of bullet holes!! And he's a much better swordsman than these droids are.]
