[for a moment, nam soon is a little more fixated on the tiny dinosaur—maybe because it's just one of those things he never thought he'd actually get to see. they were always supposed to be big and ferocious... you know, not to mention extinct.
but then there's this little one, who while looking somewhat fearsome by default, really does remind him of heung soo. it's meant to be a pet, so while it looks ferocious, nam soon can see that it's also playful wants to enjoy itself too. well, as much as a programmed animal can, he guess. it's more endearing the more he looks it... maybe because he never had a pet, either. so having one that reminds him of his most important person? it's appealing.
the thought gets shoved to the side for a moment when he feels heung soo's shoulder bump his, and nam soon's attention turns to the duck... that really does bear a resemblance to ddochi. that would happen. actually, it's kind of eerie that it did, because it makes it feel somewhat intentional and kind of invasive. nam soon is choosing to ignore it and chalk it up to coincidence (mostly because he doesn't want to consider the other possibility when they're trying to get their minds off the bad crap).]
I thought by the time I was an adult, I'd stop getting compared to Ddochi. [it's definitely a holdover from when they were kids. nam soon hated it back then, being compared to a shy and softhearted ostrich—an ostrich that looked more like a duck. but as he's gotten older, he's minded it less, especially since it's usually only heung soo that says it these days.
his annoyance is only feigned barely. he's not actually annoyed and doesn't see a need to act like he is beyond the standard exasperation that he's nearly required to have when the topic comes up. he doesn't mind though, especially in knowing that it reminds heung soo of him.
that part's kind of nice, isn't it?]
Maybe it's a sign that we're supposed to do something about it. [if he believed in fate, he'd compare it to that.]
