[The fact that Astrid's even at the carnival is a feat in itself. She resisted every part leading up to it. While she did listen to the powerpoint, she asked a million questions, practically refusing to accept what she was being told. Her home? Destroyed? No way. There was no way a bunch of creatures could come in and take over, not with their dragons. They would've fought back, wouldn't have gone down without a fight. And after what Hiccup and Toothless did, after they took down the Bewilderbeast? No way.

Then they tried to force her on the bus. Of course, she fought that too, and why wouldn't she? She didn't know what a bus was, to her it was a loud metal box that naturally looked like a trap.

But her interruptions weren't enough to make any difference. The robots made sure of that. Even with Stormfly squawking and trying to help, it was a waste of time. She finally recanted, very unwillingly, and that's how she ended up at the carnival.

Even though she was there, she made a point not to participate. The machines, the noises-- all of it was too much, especially given she had never seen anything like this before. Her mind was racing. Between being told her home was gone and being here in this strange world, full of lights and sounds and objects beyond her wildest dreams, she felt helpless, and that was the worst feeling.

To anyone milling about the carnival, they might spot the viking lurking about with her dragon, very clearly trying to figure out what the heck she had gotten herself into, all while making a point to stay away from everything ever.

Help her out?

Er. Or at least, attempt to avoid her axe?]
