[Archer was fully cringing at the emblem Athena made and the fact that it was pasted on his apron. Well, inwardly at least. Athena got to have her way with the things went around here since she was the one who put in the money and most of the work. That meant her lame idea of what was great ended up plastering almost anything that had the surface for it.

But for a food stall, there was a serious lack of menu. Archer, though, intentionally wanted that. Restricting himself would only be admitting that he couldn't make things that people wanted outside of said menu. Obviously, there were some restrictions because supplies of some things were exceedingly rare or impossible to find. Which meant that rich people places had to be visited for that. But here were reasonable prices for fresh cooked food.]

Before you ask, there's no menu. So just tell me what you want.

[Customer service needed a little bit of work, however. And no, Saber, you weren't getting any free food.]

[In a way, he's challenging her comfort zone, where she finds strength in her strong emotions which is what Ai needs to depend a little less on.]

O-Oh, no! Did I just sound ungrateful then? I mean, so much has happened and for once in my life there's just so many...!!

[Okay, reeling it in here. She takes a deep breath.]

Before, I felt very lonely. The people who raised me couldn't accept me easily and that made me think that anyone else I would meet in the future would be the same because I am the way I am.

So believe me when I say that I was happy beyond belief to be wrong about that when you said that we're friends Athena. It hasn't been too long, but that only makes me hopeful for the future.

[ Of course, she has to protest about that. She sure doesn't know what it's like to be Ai, but she at least knows how it feels to be isolated from people and not make a lot of friends because of certain things hindering them from socialising. Their circumstances may be different, but Athena's absolutely overjoyed with every friend she makes, since she didn't have a lot of them to begin with. ]

If people don't want to be friends with you, then that's their loss, and not yours. I may not know much, but I can only say that you have a good heart, and anyone who doesn't see that is foolish. You won't be lonely anymore, now that we know each other. I won't let you.

[Ai Thao's just... She can't follow up with that. Not without stumbling over her words, so she's just covering up her face.]

[Ai looks thoughtful, what, with this talk of jobs and all.]

I could probably change my occupation sometime soon, or at least take on another job.

[She chose the gift wrapping gig, mostly so she had time to get used to the colony and her new lifestyle. Now, she has the freedom to change things up, it's great, but kind of daunting at the same time.]

I sometimes think of how to relax, but I can't think of anything that isn't an activity that requires me to be active.

[ Nods rather sagely. That sure is a fancy way of saying that she has a difficult time standing still... ]

I've been asking people to join me at the cosplay cafe. If you like dressing up, you should definitely come by and join the staff. Then we can hang out with each other more often. And Ryuko will have a reason to visit the cafe more often.

[Well, Ai certainly isn't adverse to the idea of dressing up.]

Er, what kind of costumes are people made to dress up in?

[You know, just asking, just in case.]

[ She clicks on her dumb robonecklace and draws a smiley face in the air before them, and a holographic screen appears. It was just a huge smiley face at first, but then it turns into a pretty large screen - probably around 13 inches in length. She clicks on something, and it displays a variety of pictures of the cafe. It's mostly selfies. ]

Well, look at these. I dressed up like a pirate, a princess, a fancy Victorian maid, a policewoman— [ There's a lot of images in this album, and all aren't embarrassing and totally worksafe. ]

[On the one hand, Ai wonders if she could easily wear such costumes without feeling silly at some point. And she'd have to deal with a lot of people if it's a cafe setting.

She's been wanting to try out a lot of things lately even with the looming possibility that there is going to be future dangers that would disrupt daily life scenes like this. Still...

Ai smiles at Athena and admires the images.]

They're all rather cute! I think I could try this out.

If you like baking or cooking, then you don't even have to put on the costumes since you'll just be in the kitchen. [ And she laughs. ] It's only for the waiters and waitresses.

[ And she closes Widget's holograph feature, before putting her hands back to her hips. ]

You should! It's a nice place, and we get to take home the leftovers.
