First Prayer: I'm not your only friend...[Open]
Who: Rei Hino and you?
What: Day in the life of Rei Hino
When: Some nebulous day between 12/17 and 12/21, or whenever works
Where: Residential District, Gym, Shopping District, Research/Tech District
Warnings: None at present?
Residential District/Research District
[Rei's always enjoyed taking walks in her free time, getting to know the area around her and taking in the sites. She's been given a day off, a small thank you for a project deadline completion, and she's taking full advantage. It's different here, of course, given the alien nature of so much of the architecture but that's actually part of the appeal. She's reminded of what she's seen of her own world's future, and while the CERES logo plastered everywhere isn't entirely her favorite thing in the world it's nice to see some of the advertisements she's been working on around.
Eventually she'll make her way into the Research and Technologies District, looking around at all the sterile government buildings and ominous labs too. It's idle curiosity, combined with her family being involved in the civic system, that catches her interest. As well as possibly finding an entryway into CERES' facilities for later.
She's not paying the most attention to her immediate surroundings, though, so she might just bump into you, or brush past you. Trailing behind her, too, is a Cybuddy, this robot taking the form of a fuzzy baby panda bear. Whoever said she couldn't like cute things?]
CERES Gym:
[Next on her list is to find Abe no Sousei's kendo school. With a little help from Edgeworth, she's actually acquired a shinai of the proper size, and she'll turn up at the gym with that and a bow, wearing some pretty standard exercise clothes (scarlet and black of course) and begin warming up if he's not in yet. She'll start off with rock-climbing, an activity she finds herself actually doing pretty well at, and then move on to perform some pretty impressive gymnastic feats. After that? Archery.
Catch her taking a breather at the juice bar, or maybe watch while she's working out? Whatever strikes your fancy]
Restaurant:
[With all that done, it's time to get dinner. And that means heading out to a restaurant and then to pick up some stuff for the rest of the week. The restaurant she's hitting up claims to serve traditional Japanese dishes, and it's worth a try, she figures...though when she gets the food she orders, Rei's lips quiver in absolute disgust. She doesn't yell, but she gets up and carries the plate over to the counter, dropping the tray down hard enough to clatter and catch staff attention]
This is not Hōtō-nabe. [Ugh.] This is not even remotely close. It's green. And it smells like garlic. And since when are edamame purple? I'd like a refund.
[Naturally, she is going to be that customer. Or that fellow patron. Or...whatever.]
Shopping
[And with that fiasco out of the way, she has to settle for less familiar food, in this case a fried fish sandwich. It is what it is, and she'll eat it, but it leaves her wanting. So it's off to the store, where she goes through a little of everything she'd consider “traditional”, gathering up a rather full basket. Sorry if you were looking for that super-secret sauce or those last pickled plums, she's already reaching for the last one...]
Wild Card:
[No prompts to your liking? Watch to catch Rei in between things? Do it!]

[How embarassing, she thought before she peered at the basket as well. As she chuckled to herself, she gazed down at the floor to avoid looking at Rei.]
But no, I haven't, I'm use to other people cook for me! I thought it would e a lot easier since they do it all the time but I'm starting to have a new respect for how they can it like it's nothing!
no subject
[Pumpkins do not go well with chocolate.]
There's no shame in that though. Everyone has to start somewhere. I did. And I'm still only a passable cook. [Her lip quirks.] I guess your family was rich too, though? What do your parents do?
no subject
Which was why Anna didn't really respond at first. Suddenly, that box of cereal was a lot more interesting]
You can say something like that! My parents were really rich and I'm just use to having people do a lot of things for me back home! But it’s really interesting and a little frustrating now that I have to do a lot of things for myself!
no subject
Well...if you need help? I'd be happy to teach you some of the basics, Anna-san.
no subject
If that's okay? I would love any help I can get and especially if we're going to be stuck here for a long while! But don't worry, I'll repay you back!
no subject
I don't mind at all, no. I wouldn't offer otherwise. [She grins.] And you can repay me with a nice dinner when you've gotten a good handle on it. It does mean that we're going to start simple though. Rice, eggs, and easy meats.
no subject
Rice and eggs? Don't think I ever made a meal using those two ingredients before but it sounds like it should be easy! All you have to do is just cook the egg with the rice and we'll be set!
[Pause] But how do you cook an egg anyway?
no subject
[A beat.]
And I'll show you that too. Eggs are easy if you know what you're doing.
no subject
[She said before she placed a fist up in the air!!] So c'mon, let's go!
no subject
[Rei rushes through gathering up the basic things. Rice, soy, eggs, a few frozen veggies, and pre-cooked ham.]
Should we start at your apartment? Or mine?
no subject
[She said before staring at said bag]
No seriously, that's a lot just to make something simple!
no subject
[She looks down and shrugs at the bag as she pays and starts out.]
And it looks complex, but you'll see what I mean. It's a dish you can toss a lot of different things into, I just like these things in mine.
no subject
[However, she eventually chuckled to herself a little before making her way toward the entrance of the store]
But that just means that you must cook a lot at home! It must be nice to have that skill and not have to worry about if your cook might make something you won't like though! Like broccoli? I can't stand eating it at all!
no subject
Oh, I don't care for it either. It's so...tough, and hard to make well. Though, that begs the question...what is your favorite food? And what is your least favorite?
[Yes, she's curious, but she also doesn't want to add a vegetable or something Anna hates.]
no subject
[She giggles a little] But I'm not that picky outside of broccoli! I think it just tastes weird! I don't mind carrots or any kind of meat! So... [She trailed on!]
You can surprise me! Which ones do you think would be the best?
no subject
[Rei waves a hand airily as she turns down her street, towards the tiny apartment she's been setting up.]
Carrots, peas, a few onion slivers, some leek maybe. Do you have an opinion on mushrooms?
no subject
I'm good with that! Anything outside of broccoli is pretty much going to be a great meal for me! And if we even have any left overs, we can make mushroom bread out of it too!
[And then her stomach growled a little]
But all this talk is making me more hungry the more I think about it! I want to eat something now!
no subject
Well, I have some bread and natto if you want a snack. Cooking will take a little time.
[Please, please try the natto. It's the nastiest stuff for gaikokujin and it's Rei testing that claim that you'll eat anything.
Once they make it inside, Anna will find the place is laid out very, very differently from a Western place. She's used her money to make a home, after all. Tatami floors, tables low to the ground with cushions, a kotatsu around one, and a few other odds and ends like that. And it's very neat and orderly, without much decoration beyond some knockoff ukiyo-e paintings.]
no subject
[And somewhere, Anna would regret eating it in the future! But until then, she'll just be willing to try anything new!
Either way, once they made it to Rei's house, the princess was surprised to see what she found. This definitely wasn't what she was use to but she didn't seem to mind.
In fact, don't mind Anna wandering around the house an inspecting every little single thing around here! From the kotatsu to the tables and to the decorations!]
Is this what it's like in Japan? This definitely isn't anything like Arendelle at all! We never have any of this, it's kind of interesting!
no subject
[Rei laughs a bit when she sees Anna doing her meandering. She absolutely can understand the curiosity, since she's definitely pinned Anna as the sheltered sort. And honestly it's really, really endearing.]
This is a traditional layout, yes. It's more comfortable for me than the way other countries do things, but I guess that's sort of a given. What about Arendelle? what's your home like?
[She brushes over to the kitchen and let's Anna poke around while she gets out pots and pans and stuff.]
no subject
It was one thing to be sheltered but it was another to completely miss out on all the things the world had to offer...]
H-Huh? Oh, right, Arendelle! [She cleared her throat] Let's see...Arendelle was one of those kingdoms where you felt a home. There are endless trees that you felt like you could get lost in and no matter where you went, there was always this calm feeling you had.
Not to mention how the moon shines so brightly against the fjords. It really does feel like you just couldn't stop staring at it, you know?
[Pause] Or maybe I'm starting to get homesick.
no subject
That sounds nothing like where I'm from, honestly. But Japan sounds like it's a bit larger than Arendelle?
[She's guessing some medieval kingdom, based on Anna's dress frankly.]
But it has places like that. No fjords...those are only in Europe, around Norway. But it's an island nation, so we have a lot of seaside ports and things. And there are many, many huge forests all over the center. Nikko is...like something out of a dream. And so is Hokkaido.
[A wistful sigh...]
But Tokyo. That's something special. A huge, huge city, with parks and places to eat, shrines, temples, sights to see...and the Palace, too.
no subject
I wonder what they're doing now though. I know that the world is gone and all but I just can't help but wonder...
[She gave a light chuckle before changing the subject a little]
But it must be nice though! If we ever get out of here, I would love to see what Japan has to offer! It seems like I'm missing out on a lot of stuff!
no subject
[Rei smiles somewhat wryly as she looks at her new friend from across the room.]
Perhaps. I would like to see Arendelle, myself. I haven't had much chance to visit other nations. I have been to Korea, once, but nowhere else. And Korea is relatively close by.
[She gestures.] For now, though, I have most everything ready, so let's start your first lesson, okay?
no subject
Then I hear by invite you to Arendelle whenever you get the chance! I know I'm being bias but it's really lovely place if you want to see some beautiful places! Of course, I'll be dead when you get there but...at least you'll get to see the country right?
[She didn't want to think about it but it was the truth. If she ever went back home, she probably wouldn't be able to see all her friends from the future...
Although, she quickly brushed it aside before making her way toward the kitchen]
But anyway! What do you have in mind for me, Rei?
