Ceres tech & Auto Shop
[ Well someone today is a bit miffed about the treatment they’re receiving in this shop. Cyrus was just perusing the place when a robot, or more specifically a helper droid, apparently thinks he’s a robot too?! The droid totally thinks he needs to be serviced so he’s just not having a good start to his day here. You might see a young man with the left half of his body harboring metallic limbs fighting with a droid that’s just trying to get him drag him into the repair shop for some “upgrades” (Cyberman voice here). He is just not having a good day, it doesn't help he has some...lingering self conscious issues with his own limbs? Drawing attention to them just piss him the hell off. ]
Let go of me you idiot! I’m not one of your damn helper droids. [ Have some harsh coughing as he tries to pull away again. The minor struggle continues wherein he's no closer to getting this persistent robot off his case. Oh my god he is so done with this right now. He is just going to…yep, he’s going to kick that robot with his metal leg and send it flying. Sorry if you happen to be in the way? He’s just really not amused right now. ]
Ceres food stop:
[ Well after that fiasco at the auto shop he’s just…going to lay low and try to not bring too much attention to himself. Except that’s hard to do when you stand out like a sore thumb. Either way he’s picking up some food for the way home. He’s making a face as he looks through the selections however. It is not a good face, more like a grumpy slightly unsure face actually. ] This stuff looks…
[ It looks suspicious and weird. He’s really not sure if it’s safe or not to eat. Either way he’s just…going to turn you and ask- ] Do you know what’s good around here?
Gymnasium:
[ By the end of the day he’s just kinda done, tired, but not enough to really go to sleep. The words of what’s been said still echo in his mind and he can’t seem to get it out of his mind. So! Training late at night…with magical objects and such. If you’re up an about you’ll see a glowing orb manifest itself out from Cyrus’ chest. It’ll take the form of a multi-pronged spear that he’ll wield with expert ease. And then the fun starts as the training simulation begins. Multiple targets will attack at once but Cyrus will easily evade with glowing green sigils visible beneath his person. They won’t be in any language or symbols readily known, but each time he lands on one his speed increases. In the blink of an eye he’s gone and behind the virtual enemies, which fall to the ground in a bloodless heap. He’ll continue this for a while until he begins coughing again, upon which he will take a break at the juice bar to catch his breath. Don't mind the blood or anything on his towel. Totally normal thing to happen. ]

He doesn't seem that disturbed about the grumpy face of the guy who's talking to him (he's used to it anyway), and he scratches at the bandaid on his cheek before answering:]
Pretty much everything is good. But that's as vague as your question, isn't it? I haven't had anything that bad.
[. . .]
Well, I still wouldn't eat food that was on the ground but that's just common sense.
[Nice???]
Ceres tech & Auto Shop
... Hey lea - [Except the guy then kicks it and launches it right past her. So she just kind of... stops and blinks for a moment, glancing to where the droid is now flailing on the ground, and then back to Cyrus.]
... Are you alright?
no subject
[ R U SRS. He just looks so done with you. Either way his gaze turns back to the wide selection of shops. His face nestled into a permanent scowl for a few minutes longer. ] I meant more along the lines of since everything seems to be odd colors. I've never really seen purple spinach before...
[ Well, maybe he has. Palma was known to have a wide array of people living on it. ] I don't know how much the taste and texture varies with things are here. Colony life like this tends to manufacture most of their produce and vegetables. [ He shrugs. ]
Just wondering if they actually mean what they say that everything is safe. [ Because that's totally suspicious as hell. ]
no subject
Yeah I'm fine. Sorry, I didn't see you, are you alright? [ He'd feel bad if she was accidentally injured or something. Stupid ass robot being so persistent. ]
no subject
... I'm totally fine, the robot went right past me. That was a pretty impressive kick. [Plus she could've just teleported out of the way if it did fly towards her. She takes another glance at the still downed droid, before turning back to him.]
... Are you really alright, though? It seems like you're coughing a lot.
no subject
He'll cough again before shaking his head. His expression turning a bit sour. Ah, yes, he still wasn't really used to people bringing up his "condition" but he's not mad at her for doing so. ]
I'm fine. It's nothing to worry about.
no subject
But the faint feeling of worry sinks back in when he coughs, noting how his expression sours. While she doesn't want to pressure him, she is still concerned, watching him as she nods - if he says he's fine, then she won't press. Unless he starts coughing again.]
... Mm, alright. [Then she pauses as she hears some more shuffling behind her as the helper droid starts to get back up. Glancing over at it for a second with a frown.] ... Do you think it's gonna come bother you again?
no subject
[ Just because he has robotic limbs doesn't mean they need to be serviced. He coughs again before looking at the exit. ] I'm going to head out. I want to check out what else is around here. ...you're free to tag along if you want.
[ Ah the troubles of having little to no skill at small talk. ] I mean, only if you want.
no subject
[Though when he says about her tagging along, she blinks over at him, her eyes wide for a second. People saying she could tag along with them is something she isn't used to, but she doesn't hesitate to nod. Even if she's bad at being social, she does like being around people.]
... Yes, I want to, I've been meaning to look around this area anyway. [Then there's a pause, realizing she should introduce herself.] Ah, and my name is Lapis Fathalla.
no subject
But a sigh escapes him at her acceptance to his offer. ] Yeah. This place is pretty big for a colony. I've seen some big ones in my travels, but this one isn't too bad. [ Albeit a bit strange... ]
Cyrus Crautz. Nice to, um, meet you.
no subject
... Do colonies usually grab random people from different worlds? [She hopes not, and that Cerealia is just a super special case.]
It's nice to meet you too, Cyrus. [Her expression softens into something almost like a smile, but not quite, and it doesn't last for long. She's still bad at emoting.] ... Ah, we should get going, I think the droid is back up again.
no subject
He goes to nod at her but his face might flush ever so slightly at that smile. He'll quickly look away towards the droid again, his expression falling into something resembling anger. ]
Yeah that sounds like a good plan. [ You really don't have to tell him twice. He'll hold open the door for Lapis and follow behind her. ]
Is there anywhere specific you wanted to go?
no subject
Him quickly looking away causes her to blink though, tilting her head in question, especially it seemed like he turned a bit red for a moment. Not really understanding what's wrong, but she'll quickly head out the door when he opens it, clasping her hands behind her back as she starts to walk along.]
... I've been curious about the CYbuddies and the HOLO decoration thing, so I wanted to take a look. I'm not sure where they would be though... [Which is partly why she was wandering around a bit. She glances over at him now, hands still clasped behind her back.]
Is there anywhere you wanted to go?
no subject
...Oh. He looks at it too, and moves his headphones around his neck slightly as he considers it.]
I don't really eat spinach, so I don't pay that much attention to it. [Of course...] But you'd think that they'd want to keep us alive. I mean, if they really do want us to fix stuff.
[Hm...]
Maybe we'll get special powers or something eventually.
no subject
I wonder if there's a map of this place somewhere. You didn't happen to see one mentioned, did you? [ He'll thoughtfully look around as he tries to see anything with Holo or CYbuddies on its sign. ] I wonder if we can download one on this device they gave us.
[ He'll fiddle with the CereVice, coughing slightly as he maneuvers through its many lists and programs. However it's a fruitless endeavor and yields no results. ]
Me? Ah, no, not really. I was just looking around to be honest. [ He coughs again as a breeze moves through the area. He really hates the cold. ] We'll run into it eventually, I hope. [ And not more weird robots trying to upgrade him. ]
no subject
[She basically just flopped around her new apartment before she went back out again, only taking the CereVice with her. So her expression looks almost sheepish, glancing over at him as he coughs again, her shoulders hunching slightly in response to the breeze. Lapis has never been a fan of the cold, especially since her home country was pretty warm.]
... Mm, hopefully, though it's interesting to see the kinds of stuff here. [Another pause as she glances over at him.] Does the cold bother you?
no subject
Do you want to go back for it? I mean the apartments aren't too far from here. [ At least that's what he thinks, if he's remembering correctly. ]
But I guess walking around without one is fine too. [ Says Cyrus as he coughs again. ] It does. But it's alright. I can manage. It's just a cough.
[ Cyrus no. Now is not the time to be a thick headed idiot. He doesn't want to stop just because of this stupid disease though. ]
no subject
... We can see how walking around goes, it might give us a better idea of where things are if we're looking around a lot. [Her brows furrow when he coughs again, trying to think fo what she could do to help. Then she glances to an empty space to the side of her, which is where her ghost buddy is floating along.]
... Hey, Mitchell. [Once she says that, her ghost buddy forms a small fireball to float in front of them, to help warm them up. The air in front of them becoming a bit warmer now, and Lapis turns her eyes over to Cyrus again.]
Does that help at all?
no subject
They don't seem to be too accommodating or too open with us though.
[ Weird since, you know, they were supposed to be helping each other. ] Besides the food is there anything...weird about this place I should know about?
no subject
Who are you... [ he might startle a little, whoa, wasn't really expecting that. But he's not as surprised as he really should be. His cough might not sound as bad but it's still persistent. He nods his head in thanks. ]
Yeah it does actually. Thanks. So you talk to spirits, I'm guessing?
[ His robotic eye might flash into a brilliant blue hue. A beam of light might erupt from it into a sort of scanning type of array. But it'll quickly turn off just as fast as it came on. No sense of life force or physical manifestation cloaked by invisibility or anything like that. ]
no subject
... Mmhm, that's right. Mitchell is the ghost who hangs around me most of the time. [Then she blinks when his eye turns blue and a beam of light emits from it. Blinking a few more times, before tilting her head slightly.]
What was that?
no subject
You got other ones?
[His curiosity's too much on that subject, though, but he has to focus on the other question that he's asked. Kind of.]
Uh...sometimes weird things happen. We've gotten thrown into ViVid and almost froze because we didn't play it, too.
no subject
Huh? Oh. Um. [ He'll touch the left side of his face lightly with his metallic hand before dropping it back to his side. ] A scanner. It...detects organic materials and abnormalities in the area. Your ghost friend came up as an anomaly, actually. Energy detected but otherwise no actual physical bearings present.
no subject
[ There's also the whole bit with the Ossarian Herald and Nox, but he leaves those details out for now. That news gets a frown from him though. ]
No one got hurt...I hope?
no subject
Huh, that's pretty interesting. I've never heard of technology like that before... [Technology-wise, nothing has ever really been able to detect a ghost accurately back home.] How much of a radius does it have?
no subject
[He seems to think about it, and rubs the back of his head as he considers it...]
I don't know. I didn't really pay that much attention. Maybe?
[#best protag]
no subject
You're a pretty laid back guy to not care about something like that. [ But to each their own he supposed. Not that knowing the details would really bring him any comfort. Cyrus will cough once, twice, and then clear his throat grimacing a little at the action. Blood sure wasn't the taste he wanted. ]
no subject
[ He's a bit disappointed because he wouldn't mind talking to another being like Lacielle. ]
You probably wouldn't have since this comes from the year 30039. I mean, unless you're from another planet that's been picked up by Palma Ult, Vega Nox or Yander Sol. This sort of technology is pretty common on Palma and the other two moving planets. It helps us detect souls and other incorporeal things to help excavate them quicker. [ He pauses to give that some thought. ]
Thirty feet or so. Depending on the interference.
no subject
... Mmhm, more than likely. He does tend to sound like white noise every so often too.
[While he may not see how Mitchell nudges Lapis with a huff, the way she moves along with it with a quiet giggle might make it obvious what happened. Though she quickly focuses on Cyrus again, tilting her head as she listens to him, but something in what he says catches her attention. Her brows furrowing in confusion as she mulls over that, sounding faintly confused as she responds.]
... Wait. Excavate them quicker? You excavate souls?
no subject
What a distracted train of thought.]
I don't know, I was trying to figure out something else too. There's plenty of other people that could help out, right?
[Nice...]
no subject
Ah. Yeah. It's sort of my job back on Palma. But these aren't souls in the way you think. Basically they're conglomerations of emotions or thoughts and they're given form in the shape of these orbs that can be consumed. You get special powers from eating them and sometimes...after effects.
[ He frowns as he looks a bit put off after saying that. The soul of Okita Souji he was forced to consume left him in this state. Who knows what other souls out there were capable of doing. ]
no subject
[Since it involves vision going a bit static-y and a pretty bad headache, so it's something Lapis doesn't do often. She never likes hurting people, and so she would only ever use that power if the other person was absolutely sure.
Though Cyrus explanation is certainly interesting, and it would explain why she couldn't sense anything from him if he did consume one of these souls. She hums softly as she thinks over this, taking note of how he frowns and she tilts her head slightly as her brows furrow.]
... I'm guessing these after effects aren't always pleasant.
no subject
[ He's not an expert but Cyrus can tell that the people here are different and helpful when they need it. He's seen colonies worse off then this one at least. ]
Oh. Right. I'm Cyrus by the way. Nice to meet you...?
no subject
[ Connecting to souls of those who were deceased. Cyrus coughs again and nods, a frown touching his lips as he does so. ]
Yeah. Sometimes they can be a real pain in the ass to live with. But...that's life, right? [ No use crying over spilled milk as the saying goes. ]
no subject
Yeah, I suppose it is. Though a lot of people seem to think it's creepy too.
[Not that Lapis minds too much, she's used to it by now - even if she sometimes is bothered by it. She glances over at him again when he coughs, her brows furrowing slightly even as she nods. Considering some of the stuff her powers put her through, she can't help but agree.]
... That's right. Though I'm gonna assume the cough you have is one of these after effects.
no subject
[ Cyrus shrugs. ] Not as bad as somethings I've seen. I eat souls for a living so...a lot of people are creeped out by that. Even if it's not an actual 'soul' we're consuming. Could have done with a better terminology to be honest.
[ He coughs as he covers his mouth with his real hand. ]
Yeah. This cough is the product of eating the soul of Okita Souji. It comes with great power but...living like this. [ Ha. What a joke. He really hates this power, this responsibility. If he could redo that moment in time he would do it in a heartbeat. ]
It's not worth it.
no subject
And Lapis does have to agree that eating souls is rather creepy, nodding in agreement when he says about better terminology.]
... Mmhm, that's true. Maybe something like 'afterimages', though even that might still be considered creepy.
[She becomes silent again when he coughs, her brows furrowing slightly as she listens to him. Frowning as she glances down, humming in thought - it certainly doesn't seem like it's worth it, being stuck with an illness which Lapis can only assume is rather serious.]
Is there anyway to treat it? Or lessen the effects of it?
