( All the festivities had taken a toll on Manfred's energy levels (he is not young as he used to be any more, and he is only getting older) so he finds himself ducking away from the party, into the gardens for a breather. But he breathes a bit too deeply as he finds a secluded spot, his chest feeling unusually tight. He loosens his jabot slightly as he looks around at the nearby foliage, shadows cast here and there by the plants. In one motion he moves his head slightly too quickly and thinks he sees something in the shape of a crumpled body over by the edge of the clearing.
No. It takes him too long to realize he's hissed this word aloud. His face has an unsightly pallor to it as his eyes dart this way and that, trying to make sense of the scene he finds himself in.
