[Edgeworth perks up at the knocking. The dog CYbuddy he keeps thanks to Pearl starts barking loudly, and he shushes it (boy, it was pretty obedient for a robot, but then again, he should be more worried if it didn't obey his commands, probably) before hurrying to the door. Tea is brewing, giving his apartment a homey aroma wafting all over the place. Everything is organized, as always, and he didn't have time to read. Instead, he would stay tuned to the network and what would happen next, because clearly, something was going on. Again.
He peers through the peephole in his door to see who it is in case the apparition (or was it?) of Franziska followed him all the way here, or if someone - or something - else did.
Who he sees knocking on his door is worse. Far worse. Edgeworth recoils, making a strangled noise in his throat that is a cross between a gasp and a yelp. Gritting his teeth, he ponders this for a moment. What on Earth could Manfred von Karma want with him now, in a nightshirt and slippers? Was this another trick? No, the man outside looked solid enough, and...in distress. It was tempting to pretend to be deaf and let Manfred seek help elsewhere, but Edgeworth's conscience would beat him up silly if he did that.
No, he isn't heartless. He's not going to like this, but if Manfred is on the run from something that could potentially kill him...
With a touch of annoyance (Why him? Why here? Why now?) Edgeworth unlocks his door and opens it all the way so Manfred can see just who lives in this particular apartment. His expression is unfathomable except for the furrow of his brows.]
