[Being bedridden is probably the most boring thing in the world.
He's stable enough, considering everything that's happened, but his mind is also pretty clear (except for when the painkillers start to make him a little wonky in the head) so he knows what's going on and the passage of time is painfully slow. But he can't just get up and leave because...well...it's the getting up that's a problem.
Damn leg being damn useless. This is the actual worst.
So he spends his waking moments not flirting with the nurses with his Cerevice in hand, texting his friends (mostly Shinpachi and Heisuke, probably), and just trying to keep his mind active. Though he'd much rather be up and about and swinging around a spear or something. Lying here is just wasting valuable time. By the time he does get out of here, he's going to be so rusty and that's not good for anyone, especially in this world where shit can happen literally at any time.
Oh, yeah, and the left side of his jaw hurts. Thanks, Sousei. He reaches up to rub it and winces a little bit when he puts too much pressure. It's probably bruised pretty well. What a bummer.
But the noises from the hallway are new and so his attention automatically zeros in on the voices involved.
Or voice, in this situation. And, yeah, he smiles because he recognizes it, even though he has no idea what the hell Tenka is up to, but it's bound to be interesting. And soon enough Sano realizes why the nurses outside were suspicious because he can recognize what that box holds even before Tenka opens it up.
(He won't inflate his friend's ego, though. Sorry, Tenka.)
