[ Ima listens very intently! It's neat, to hear Mutsu talk about his old life since he isn't the type to. Swords can make really good tsukumogami, since they have the opportunity to see so much at their master's side.

His eyes when he hears about Sakamoto leaving, that is definitely a risky thing to do. But then they light when he listens to how much loved Mutsu. ]

But Mutsu-kun was still a treasured sword by Sakamoto-san! You get to fight now though, and you're pretty good at it for helping Haru-sama, so it's okay!

[ Now he's got Ima all nostalgic. He moves away a bit but stay close to Mutsu's side, it's easier to talk that way. ] With my old master, I was used for just protection as well. Yoshitsune didn't need an oodachi or something, that's no good for self-defense. I got to be with him a lot like that, too!

You know what though, we beat the great Benkei together! I didn't end up his thousandth collected blade... and I made a wonderful friend, too~

[ Mutsu's so smart... Souji watches as the tsukumogami pieces the rest of the puzzle together, though his brow furrows a little at the 'swords are old fashioned' part. Why are you insulting yourself, Mutsu... But more importantly, that's the kind of thing people who are aren't close with the Shinsengumi would probably say, or at least the sort of people who subscribed to different beliefs. ]

But you're the sword of Saitani Umetarou or whatever his name is. [ and he knows the Hokushin Ittou Ryu style, so he's obviously not some common sellsword. ] So it's not like you were a blade serving some nobody... Right?

[ Pitch didn't so much as turn a hair. He had haunted battlefields, looked in on asylums and seen plenty of mankind's monsters already. However he was not a murderer. Mostly because it ran counter to his nature since dead things did not feel fear. ]

[Yet all the same, Tenka crushes Sayo close -- like his only treasure left in this world. He runs his fingers through his short hair lightly, soothingly, and rubs his back with as much care as he can muster. Sayo is loved. Tenka loves him dearly. He just hopes that he doesn't forget that.]

It's okay to cry. It's okay to be scared. But you and I both know that you're so very, very strong now, okay?

[He tries to maintain his warmth and his hope, providing light when Sayo seems to be struggling to see it.]

Aniki is here to take care of you. Everything will be okay.

Sousei's wandering around here somewhere -- and I figure if he's out then I should be too. Can't have my partner upstaging me, you know? And besides.... a lot of people are still in trouble, so it's not like I can sit still.

[He's honest about it, lifting one shoulder in a half-shrug as best as he can manage.]

But Haru-kun's really lucky to have you, Mutsu-kun.... You should definitely at least check in soon even if you're not going home, okay?

Oh! He did this all on Gojou bridge, so no need to carry the swords too far! He was a really big guy too, just like Iwatooshi. Um, and he probably stored them all someplace near that bridge... maybe under it! Yamabushi like him aren't attached to material things, so they were probably more of symbol of his 999 victories than... trophies? Iwatooshi said it was something like that.

[ Ima tries hiding his yawn. Someone might want his grandpa nap, but he shall resist! ] Did you guys have fun outside of Tosa? It was worth it to see the world, I bet....

[ Freddie, that's just making you sound like better prey. And honestly? The more afraid you get, the better. Pitch Black even found enough of an excess of fear here a second Nightmare. But he was actually in the middle of something before the first Nightmare noticed Freddie.

Stepping from the young man's shadow Pitch seemed not to notice when on of the Nightmares disintegrated into component Black Sand. Probably because it reformed under him. ]

You are not on "my side", mortal.

[ The Nightmare he wasn't riding paws at the ground, wanting more of that tasty fear. Pitch silently waved it on, after the ghosts. It's definitely reluctant to go, and you'll (hopefully) never know how tenuous Pitch's control over the Nightmares is. But it goes, though Pitch stays behind a moment to pin Freddie with that creepy unblinking stare.

I don't care what you were doing or why. I am not your friend, your protector and have absolutely no reason to be your ally.

[ He smiled but it was in no way nice. ]

If I wasn't already busy, I'd call the rest of my Nightmares over to get to know you better.

( There are other swords running around too and he can't let them show him up either. As for that last part... ah, he a humble sword, you know? More proud of his masters than he is of himself. More lucky to have Haru than Haru is to have him. So the lucky compliment might have made Mutsu blush just the tiniest bit from embarrassment. He shakes it off quickly, though! )

[He's scared for sure, and now he's angry, too. Angry at himself for being scared and defenseless as he always is, and angry at Pitch for antagonizing him. Remarkably, he holds his ground and glares back heatedly, like someone who's had experience in this sort of situation.]

I'm not asking you to be any of those things. But what we do have is a common enemy! Hundreds of them, too. So why waste your time harassing me when we could both be trying to do something about them?

( He nods, understanding now that Ima's explained it some. Mutsu's a material sword-- the sword of a merchant-- so he doesn't really get it but... yeah, he can understand the symbolism behind things just fine.t )

Mmm! It was the most I'd ever seen 'til now! ( Back then, Japan was the whole world but now he has all of time to pick from and apparently, worlds? Who would have ever imagined... But he catches that yawn and he slows down hsi steps, hand reaching to ruffle Ima's hair, ) Hey, want me to carry ya back home? We can go check on Haruji together.
