[ MAYDAY, it's the end of the world. After the fact of the world's supposed destruction. And no Law around to take by the shoulders to better check for head injuries.

It's not that it's a bad title in and of itself, or at least not for any pirate that he'd personally have an investment in surviving long-term, but the idea is so wholly against what he knows of Law. Marine-sanctioned anything goes against what he knows. ]

But... he said he hated the World Government. I didn't think that would have changed. Not even enough to take a position and then abdicate it. [ Part of some kind of bigger game? After so long, Rosinante supposes he can't say anything for certain. ] Either he's gotten a new opinion or he's stepping out of his usual boundaries for some reason. If I were superstitious, I'd call it a bad omen.

[ Well, he wasn't one of the top students of his year for no reason. He'll take the offered papers and pencil and get to writing as she talks, his note-taking neat and, more importantly, efficient. ]

Captive?

[ He lifts his eyes. ]

How do you hold a spirit captive? No - that's not what's important. Which one? And you said was. Is that spirit free now?

[overgrowth]

[ SCOFFS. no, he's going to be a dick about this. ]

Really? You would've been stuck up there forever if it weren't for me.

Very good. [She nods, answering wordlessly.] The answer is simple enough, spirits are bindable by rituals and energy flows. Because that's a good question to ask too. It's not something you can do by accident, you have to prepare it.

[A beat.]

And yes, it is free. It was not one of the four elements, but another. One they called the Bridge. Female, according to them. One of the groups involved in the raid managed to rescue her.

[And she doesn't know Yu well enough to open up about Mosley's involvement. Not yet. ]

Maris and Caeli took her with them as that group left. I was not with them, though. I don't have firsthand knowledge of her looks or anything.

[Zoro's actually fascinated, because this guy clearly knows Law better than he does. He wants to know what Corazon knows.]

Can't say as I know for sure. He's been pretty tight-lipped around me, and most of the crew. Luffy might know more, if he were here. [and he will be, shortly...] The only thing I know for sure is that it's part of a plan to take down an Emperor. That's why he wanted our alliance.

[ he CROSSES HIS ARMS INDIGNANTLY.

[ Yu takes a moment to write more of this down, considering what he knows so far. ]

I want to know more about the Bridge and the raid, if you can tell me. If she's not an elemental spirit, what is she? And what was the raid for?

aaand notifs went down. I'm sorry. I'll just have to focus on this tomorrow.

The raid was to find information, and to free her. She's a spirit, as far as I know, but not necessarily of an element.

[A beat.]

And the raid itself was bad. We were separated early on. Three groups. One found a bunch of machines, but I don't have an accurate description of what they did. One found the bridge, and my own found five ghosts bound in cages. I freed them, and we made our escape.

Only...five of the six of us died, along the way.

[A sore point to be sure.]

they are. so down. i checked this on a hunch. no worries.

[ Guess who doesn't know yet that the dead come back in Cerealia? This guy!

The fact that he actually drops his pencil out of shock should say it all, though his eyes also widen marginally. He's never been prone to huge reactions except on very rare occasions. This isn't one of them. But he still looks horrified, if only in an understated way. Somewhat hushed: ]

You were the only survivor?

Yes.

[It's a simple word, and the look...the tone he takes...it surprises her. It was more of a reaction than she'd seen so far.]

I was. But...that was a few days ago. The other people? They're alive. They returned. It's...really unsettling, I know but death isn't permanent here. You can die, and you're returned to life a few days later. They are all alright. Unhappy, unnerved, but...alright.

( no problem!! o/ )

A zombie? No, none of that. I'm— [ there's an easy way to go about this, or there's the long-winded, complicated way, and he's not about to give an hour lecture on how tsukumogami work. ]

—a sword spirit. [ gesturing towards himself: ] Basically, this human form doesn't get, as you said, wrinkly and crusty and stuff.

[he laughs. that title actually has a nice ring to it. flynn approved! a brief pause comes before he speaks again.]

You know, some days I still can't believe it. [that his humble butt gets to be commandant] I always hoped to rise in rank, but never dreamed of rising this high.

[It's gratifying to see Gino smile, however briefly, and Kagari makes a mental note to try and get him to do it more when they're not dealing with such heavy subjects.

Sybil trying to take out Kogami should sound more shocking, and it is surprising, but it also makes Kagari angry. It had sucked about his own death, sure, but it was like Sybil had been bent on ruining things for the others too. He's genuinely glad that at least that attempt had failed, though.]

Never thought I'd be saying this, but it's a good thing Akane shot Ko. Guess it's not all that surprising that a lot of things ended up going to hell after a while.

[He move in his seat, enough that he can stretch, putting his legs out in front of him and his arms over his head.]

Man, all this, you being here, this is not how I thought my day was gonna go.

[ That takes him a long moment to recover from. Coming back from dying in ViViD had been one thing. That was just a game by design. But death, real death, just.... people dying, really, actually dying, and what, popping back up a few days later like it was nothing--?

Yu leans back in his seat, pressing a hand over his mouth and taking a moment to breathe in slow and collect his thoughts. It's hardly bad news to hear. He'd certainly rather all those people be alive than the alternative. But it's unsettling in a fundamental way, to know that death is unreal here. He wonders what Yosuke will think.

Finally he nods and sits up straight again. ]

I'm glad to hear they're alright.

[ He'll take up his pencil again and jot down a few more notes, trying to recollect his thoughts after news of that magnitude. ]

Was there anything to learn from the ghosts?

[ As much as the memory stings and loops, Gino finds himself shaken out of it by Kagari's dark humor. It drudges up something else– Akane's first day on the job. ]

That's twice she did, you know. [ A small, vicious part of him had been glad the first time. Relieved, the second. ] Kogami was never going to let go, you know that. If it meant following Makishima Shogo to hell in order to catch him he was going to do it.

[ And that fact alone leaves him feeling exhausted. ]

Is that good or bad? [ Gino tenses, wondering if he's suddenly overstayed his welcome. ]

[A card? Wall-E tilts his head, thinking for a moment before... oh, wait.

He holds up a hand as if to say "one moment", before he then opens his chest compartment to reach inside and feel around for a moment until he pulls out a card, holding it up for Quatre to see. Are you talking about this thing we found on us earlier?]

Really? Hm. Pity. It would frighten anyone you met more to tell them you hacked your own leg off.

[ Pitch was busy inspecting the leather that made up this sort of contraption (saddle?) that Toothless was wearing when Hiccup interjected again.

It did make Pitch come to a full stop. The Look he gave Hiccup was unreadable, but Pitch had already started to work out the contraption mentally.

After a few seconds of very awkward silence, Pitch turned to look Toothless right in the eye. ]

Does he always do your talking for you?

[ a slight jerk of a thumb to indicate Hiccup. ]

I don't mean mortal speech, either. Surely you can decide to leave whenever you like.

Yes, everyone has a different way of describing how they feel about peace and freedom, no? Equality included. [And herself, she has leant towards the latter.] But I suppose that is what makes everyone unique. Humans have a lot of spirit. [And she likes watching and learning from them.

She looks up curiously when he speaks of being part of the police force. That explains why he's so professional, and he guessed that she was some kind of diplomat.] Oh! You have a great understanding of the balance between peace and freedom, and so this is not surprising to me. But why do you call yourself a blood hound? Is your work very difficult?

[Also, she should probably get him some tea. Thankfully she has some already brewed, so she is pouring him a cup.]

[ Just when the vertigo seems to be setting in, Pitch reappears from the complete opposite side of where he disappeared. The look of what is (hopefully) hangdog disappointment that Pitch is really using for a mask.

It' s an okay mask. Not great since it's not really sincere. But here's hoping it's just enough to fool Takeru for a little bit... ]

There is...one thing I can do. I could get you down out of this tree. It might be a little mentally uncomfortable.

[He clearly remembers the aftermath of the first time Akane had shot Kogami. He'd been kind of a dick to her after, actually. He knows even without being told that Kogami would have gone to those lengths in order to bring down Makishima; single-minded didn't even begin to cover it.]

Yeah, well, he got what he wanted, didn't he? Besides, it's not like he's the only stubborn guy I know.

[He notices the way Gino seems more uncomfortable as he takes a moment to think about the question. It could just be awkwardness, but Kagari smiles faintly, but reassuringly.]

It's good, I think. I mean, not ideal, but nothing's all sunshine and rainbows, and I think it's better to know this stuff. It's all because you're here again, and that's actually awesome.

[He pauses. Well, why the hell not be a little ridiculous? He doesn't want Gino tensing up all over again.]

If you ever tell anyone I said this, I'll deny it. I'm pretty glad you wound up in my bathtub, Gino.

[faithfulflame]

[Again she's quiet, letting him think while she tries to process what to say next. After a little thought, she nods sharply. Let's just get on with it then.]

Nothing from them specifically, they didn't speak beyond a 'thank you' but they were upset at CERES. Furious, even. The room had been built to keep them in, that much was obvious. You don't make a place like that without a very specific purpose. And they were definitely prisoners, behind bars and all.

[overgrowth]

You're nine.

[ pauses. ]

Ten.

[ and everyone knows ten-year-olds can't climb out of trees on their own! ]

Just shows you've got the chops for it, right? Not like anyone would deny that you don't work your ass off.

[after all, flynn is dedicated to what he does, and even with the mistake he's made, it's always been in the best interest of the people. maybe he'd been foolish to blindly believe alexei, especially as circumstances worsened, but that was just flynn trying to see the best in someone he respected.

there were things about that situation that undoubtedly bothered yuri, but to say flynn didn't deserve to be where he is right now would be and out-and-out lie that he couldn't bring himself to say, ever.]

[Said-kid is still pretty much frozen in place while he's waiting for Rosinante's next move. It's not that he's afraid necessarily but this certainly isn't what he had anticipated upon stepping out of ViViD again. He's experienced some weird things since arriving in Cerealia but this is definitely a first.]

Yeah...I guess this place has a lot to look at anyway. [He seems to have picked up on that same fact, but he seems to take the acceptance of blame with ease. Regardless, he rewards Rosinante with a tentative grin. At the mention of his savior though he tilts his head back to look at Baymax who's still propping him up.]

That's sort of his job. He's pretty much trained to work with me. [Or be a personal babysitter.] You just came out of ViViD, right? Where'd they spit you out?

An Emperor? [ RAISES THE HECK OUT OF HIS EYEBROWS. ] That's pretty ambitious.

[ "Pretty ambitious." Talk about an enormous understatement. So become a Shichibukai, ally with an outside crew-- put that hard-earned title at risk by allying, then abdicate the position anyway, all for the sake of taking down one of the Emperors.

Tch. What a convoluted strategy. And why aim to take down an Emperor in the first place? Why align himself with the government? ]

If he's after a new title, that's a lot of trouble. What does your crew get out of all this?
