Even with crap like this happening, it's better than anything back home.

[Literally anything else is better than what would happen if he went back home; being a prisoner here is already better than living, or dying, as one back there.]

I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, but I'm glad nobody knows how long all this'll go on. I don't want the rug yanked out from under me again by leaving here too soon.
