Mika should perhaps be glad that Armin can't see his expression right now. While doubtless Armin hadn't intended it to, his question had brought to mind memories that, while they were some of the happiest times of Mika's life, they're also now tainted with loss. Nearly all the family Mika had cherished at the time are dead and gone now.
