Who: [personal profile] cardboard_journalism & the people around her
When: January 24th, morning
Where: Different places around Cerealia!
What: Myriam Scuttlebutt's newspaper, 4th edition!
Rating/Warning: (possibly some PG content?)

[ January 24th, and what a week it'd been since last issue. Murders, video games, and baffling mass hallucinations... or at least, they seemed like those things... Who could know for sure?

Luckily, The Cerealia Times existed to tell people for sure! ]

A. OTA

[ Myriam Scuttlebutt, wearing her cardboard box, carries a stack of bundles of The Cerealia Times in a cardboard box on a hand-truck and tries to convince businesses (especially cafes!) to set them out for people to take, free of charge. Maybe you're a worker she's trying to persuade? Or maybe you're a worker sitting on the sidelines wondering who this weirdo in a cardboard box is. She will definitely be coming around to any business that accepted them in the past! ]

B. OTA

[ Myriam Scuttlebutt, wearing her cardboard box, sits behind a register at the School Supply Store she works at. She rings people up blandly and then excitedly offers a copy of the paper with their purchase. Alternatively, Scuttlebutt behind a register is a sitting duck who can't escape anyone bringing up an issue about her paper. ]

C. Either/or!

[ No interaction with Scuttlebutt herself, just read the paper and post your own reaction wherever they may be! Maybe leave her a comment on her inbox or go track her down to complain with another prompt. The paper can definitely be found at Archer's food-stand, Thistle Do Nicely flower-tea shop, and the Opera House. ]

D. Semi-open [directed to [personal profile] psycholawgy but open to anyone who might be at The Little Sister cosplay cafe]

[Scuttlebutt came by with her usual bundle to The Littler Sister cosplay cafe, and if she saw Athena would plead with her.]

"No gossip column this week either. ...so I can set it out, right? Kahk kahk kahk..."

[ It looks, feels, and smells, like a newspaper, and the top above-the-fold part of the paper reads as follows ]

"you'd miss me if I were gone"

MURDER! (maybe)
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt
CEO Vincere Julius found dead on 1/17 along with another unidentified man. Presiding over the scene was newly announced new CEO Bellona Recreare, in a seemingly pre-planned grisly photo-op. The unseen camera-man was CERES' public relations manager Mosley, no last name given.

[ The below-the-fold story reads: ]

Open and shut case?! Not so fast, says new CEO!
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt
Presiding over the bloody scene in an unidentified by high-class looking CERES office was new CEO Bellona Recreare. Agreeing to answer questions for The Cerealia Times, Miss Recreare had this to say: "...I am not the culprit here, regardless of appearances. After all, there would be no point to me doing so after I had already paid the full price for this company. But we are investigating, and will find the murderer with all due haste." Miss Recreare then went on to say changes "to improve upon the troublesome decisions Mr. Vincere made in his running of this colony," were on the way. Miss Recreare declined to comment further on what those changes may be, or make any statement as to the transparency or independence of this supposed "investigation" into the double murder. We at The Cerealia Times firmly believe in the rule of law and "innocent before proven guilty," but c'mon, you gotta do better than that, Miss Recreare!

Anyone with further information about Miss Recreare, her plans, or actions is welcome to contact The Cerealia Times.

Local vigilante Patrolman Jaco arrested.

byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt
Patrolman Jaco, pictured here, was recently arrested by automated droids for property damage and causing a public nuisance. In lieu of fines, he is being held in the local jail. Jaco admitted perhaps his laser gun had been set "a little [too] powerfully." He announced that he would not let this deter him from his constant vigilantism and would simply make attempts to be more careful in the future. He did not, however, expect this to deter him from his usual vigilantism. "Security thinks I am too tough on crime-" he began to say in a quote for The Cerealia Times, "I think they are too soft!" he finished.

CEO of CERES corp: cut down in his prime!
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt
An enigma to most of the relocated at Cerealia, the chance to better get to know Mr. Vincere Julius is now forever lost after his untimely death along with one other unidentified person. An obituary was asked for, and received, from CERES representative Mosley no last name given.

"Julius Vincere, 32, was killed in an apparent homicide occurring in the early hours of the morning this past Saturday, January 17th. He will be missed by both friends and family alike and respected in death as a true visionary and honored CEO. A memorial service will be held off planet for those closest to him but any Cerealians wishing to pay their respects may visit the CERES established memorial at the local shrine located within the Pleasure District.

"After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." - Unknown"

When asked for comment, Miss Recreare offered the opinion that Mr. Vincere was rather "altruistic"... we at The Cerealia Times think that speaks for itself.

Local Prince Vegeta from planet Vegeta accepts invitations to spar.
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt
In a well publicized battle between anyone with the guts to face him, Prince Vegeta took on some suckers. With no established rules, umpires, or even an agreed condition for winning, it's difficult to say exactly which of the fighters "won." However, Prince Vegeta was the clear favorite, and one knowledgeable spectator was able to explain to this reporter that Prince Vegeta's power comes from "ki manipulation," which is some sort of advanced pulley system he used to hover. Only the pulleys weren't visible.

We wouldn't have believed it either, but a picture is worth a thousand words, and there it is.

[ There's a section titled: "MUSIC". In it, space has been allocated to Jakuzure Nonon. A photo of her conducting is here.

The article, byline Nonon Jakuzure, continues from where it left off last week. This week recommends the work of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the famed Russian composer. The article is dedicated to his first masterpiece "Romeo and Juliet" based on the Shakespeare play of the same name. Detail is made that most people are familiar with the overture because it is so well known and used everywhere. The crescendo is instantly recognizable.]

Love Advice ♥ with Miss Maggie

There have been a few questions pertaining to dating and sadly, I wasn't able to answer them all in the last column. Rather than answering them with similar responses, I decided that for this column I would outline some basic dating tips and ideas to keep in mind! Points that were touched on already: How to ask someone out, where to take them out. For those who missed it, I'll briefly cover them here too!

-When you are asking someone out, you need to make sure you are confident and straightforward!

-Taking a person out is really simple! Traditional options are going to movies or dinner, but picnics, going to the arcade, walks in the park are just as acceptable!

Alright, with that information out of the way, we're going to discuss important tips to help your date go smashingly well! And first on this list is dress code. No matter what kind of date this is, you gotta make sure you look nice. Hopefully I don't have to tell you guys about good hygiene, but just in case please make sure you shower, brush your teeth, and over all are clean and odor free. I cannot stress this enough this is an IMPORTANT STEP!!

-For formal dates, like dinners, you'll want to make sure that you are a little dressier than normal. I'm not saying you need a tuxedo or a ball gown or anything, but make sure you look nice. An evening dress or classy ensemble for the ladies, slacks and a dress shirt for the guys. Tie, bow tie, suspenders all optional. Don't wear hats, okay? Just put your hair up or brush it back, make it look nice.

-More casual dates like picnics, walks in the park, the movies, you can of course dress more casually. But you still gotta look nice! This means you can't wear the ratty jeans with the holes in them. Make sure your clothes are clean and stain/hole free. You probably want to avoid any loud graphics too. Keep it comfortable, but simple! Jeans, a t-shirt, a light jacket over the top for boys is a good example, and jeans or a skirt, a blouse and a sweater for the girls! Feel free to mix it up though, just don't over dress.

Next up is conversation! Since you're looking to get to know each other, don't be scared to ask them questions. "What is your favorite color?" "What kind of food do you like?" "How do you feel about dogs/cats/pigs?" Knowing some basic info is a great place to start learning how you mesh together! You also want to keep the conversation moving and light, especially if you're the one who asked the other person out! Here are some suggestions:

-Talk about each other's jobs! Jobs are a great way to share experiences, learn more about each other and learn about things like future plans!
-Ask them about movies, media, games and things! These kinds of interests are not only good to know so you can find common ground, but can help you for future date ideas if a second date is in the cards!

Conversation topics you should AVOID on the first date:

-The weather. This is saved for people you are just meeting and is too simple. Usually leads to a boring conversation! (Unless you're magic and can control it!!)
-Family. Sometimes this can be a really private subject, so it's probably better to save this for the second date instead!

Also, try not to sit there and talk all about yourself and your interests and things only you are interested in. If you are all about "me, me, me," your partner won't be very interested in you, you, you for very long. Be open and be interested in them! Listen to their stories, laugh at their jokes, show them you care!

And that's all for now! Hopefully this advice will help you out in your romantic adventures!

However, the 300 credit offer for someone who maintains a three-month long relationship with Sir Integra Hellsing is still available. Pictured below: Sir Hellsing. "

]

[ Next page is dedicated to "Missing Persons" and reads as follows:

"An unverified person styling themselves "Lord" Cain C. Hargreaves is searching for his butler, a mister Riff Raffit. He is described as "quite tall, broad-shouldered, with fair hair and blue eyes, probably wearing a well-pressed suit in blue or gray. He's left-handed, strongly built and maddeningly altruistic."

Riff Raffit is of such reportedly high character he is likely to be seen "...rescuing a kitten from a tree, aiding a gentlewoman with her garden or teaching underprivileged children how to box." Any reports should be addressed to "Lord" Cain C. Hargreaves. No reward has been offered for this information. Mr. Hargreaves has expressed that as his employer, he is considering docking Mr. Raffit's paycheck."

b - for myriam

[ Nonon actually has a reason for going to a school supply store. Seeing how someone she is close to goes to school still. And Nonon is going to teach her how to study like a normal person. Well, like an overachiever anyway. Which is why she has a basket of notebooks, pens, highlighters, and other organizational stick-on tabs, that kind of thing. Oh and a bunch of adorable skeleton stickers. Like, Nonon just went and bought all that she could find. ]

I guess they don't have a strict dress code here, huh? [ She says, teasing as she puts her basket up. ]

c - ota

[ With a newspaper out in front of her, Nonon is doing what she does best. Sitting at the local St*rbucks, drinking a cafe au lait. She likes to go into the Opera House late on the days the newspaper comes out. And since she strong armed her way to the top of the opera house's food chain, no one can do anything about it. She's dressed warm, in a little winter beanie with a skull on it, a warm skirt and wool leggings, and... Ryuko Matoi's stadium jacket which might be familiar to some. ]

There's no way she didn't have a hand in his death. I don't trust her... [ She also has no trouble talking aloud to herself while reading apparently. ]

[ Shaking her head!! ]

That sounds like you're not long for this job. [ Though looking around, is there even anyone to fire her?! ]

These are for Ryuko, because apparently she's failing Math like an idiot. [ Calling her by her first name? Buying her school supplies? What is the world coming to? ]

...If I ever end up in a retail job I would rather die.

[ Sorry Scuttlebutt. ]

She's obviously in class right now. And I told her I'd help her get her grades up. What's it to you? [ She eyes her a little suspiciously... but then... ] Is Miss Tattler gone? It seems like you haven't been putting that column in anymore.

Only so that I can work my way to the top in the next few months.

[ Nonon refuses to stay at the bottom, and surprisingly, her work ethic is amazing when it comes to things she cares about. ]

At least you're dedicated to something. [ She can respect that a lot. ]

And you don't even have any cute pencil toppers. You need to get some. [ Who is she shopping here for again? ]

Have you figured out a way to tell how many people are picking up a copy each week?

[personal profile] shikisha 2015-06-25 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well if you get things like that I'm sure I'll be back, whether Ryuko's grades improve or not. [ She plans to teach her how to study and not do her homework all by herself... but who knows. ]

I guess that's not too bad. [ Suddenly a thought popped into her head. ] You think a census has ever been taken here?

[As the newspaper had come out, he had looked through it in concern for any new information on the missing people. He found nothing... maybe they truly were gone from his place.

But something else does catch his eye: the horoscopes. He finds that he is Sagittarius and digs right into his horoscope- his prophecy! So his heart will lead him great places if he lets it...

Rock Lee can be found pretty much everywhere in town. In any random place. He's running around to try to find where his heart is leading him, while also reading the newspaper as he runs. Even if they did it's doubtful they are going to be telling us anything about it.

What about it?

[ Nonon is listening pretty intently, deciding she's actually not as crazy as she seems, that sounds pretty smart. Until there's a camera in her face and she's balking. ]

H-Hey! [ She's just surprised, only looking made for a few seconds before all she does is narrow her eyes at the other girl in the box. ] At least you'll be making Ryuko happy, all she ever wanted from your paper is to catch CERES in a lie.
