What: One cute run in during lunch and another cute run-in after work.

[one of the best to spend lunches, as flynn's found, is to hang out at the arcade. in addition to having some good food, checking out all the various games never fails to prove entertaining. it makes time fly by faster, too, and that means being able to get back to work all the sooner. lunch breaks really shouldn't be mandatory.

but contemplating the need for lunches when going without them is completely doable (and he's used to not eating a lot in a day. or at all) can wait for a later time. right now, the arcade is calling. flynn finishes off the sandwich of day quickly enough and sets off to pick out a game to to pass the remaining time. hmm... some basketball game? no. an action adventure? fun, but it'd probably take longer than he has to beat it. ah. flynn stops walking at the sight of a racing game, one complete with steering wheel and all the works of a car. perfect.

he sits down and starts up the game. the first run results in what one'd expect from someone playing it the first time. flynn crashes and burns easily enough. does the same happen on the second attempt? nope. second attempt starts out a tad shaky, with him still fully trying to grasp the controls, but quickly shifts into flynn pulling a ridiculously high speed with full control as if he's a pro at the game. perks of being a fast learner. ]

[evening rolls by quickly and that means quitting time. for once, flynn leaves on time, too. paperwork got finished, no emergencies popped up and everything went smoothly. all in all, a good day. hmm maybe he'll cook something tonight since there's time for it. it'll be a nice change from the recent few days of eating take-out. the only question is what to make? beef bowl? beef bowl. nothing beats a good bowl of meaty goodness to top off a pleasant day.

this leads to a quick trip to the store for all the necessary ingredients (and maybe some... not necessary ones). it'll be a good meal. maybe he'll save some for work tomorrow, too. oh and possibly some for yuri. with how much the other man cooked for flynn in the past, surprising him with meals every now and then is the least he could do. it's thoughts of meal sharing that occupy his mind as he walks down the road with bags in hand.]

[no cat costume today--not yet, anyway.

leia is making the first round of her shift at the arcade, which is thankfully back to normal after the mess that was their "spring cleaning." it's almost hard to believe she actually spent the night here... but she's honestly pretty glad to have had the opportunity to see another side of the place. she passes by the racing games, which seem to be functioning properly, so she pays it no attention...

until she spots the familiar head of blonde hair.]

Whoa. Flynn?

[someone saying his name comes right as flynn takes a sharp turn flawlessly. ah, that voice. glancing over in its direction reveals exactly who he'd expected: leia. not the most surprising sight considering she works here, but still a pleasant one. he smiles at her, managing to do both that and continue playing the game at the same time. multitasking at its finest!]

Hello, Leia. Working hard?

[with or without cat suit, it isn't far fetched to assume she's working today. ah, and ramp jump... with fantastic landing!]

[Living alone was a little while now Lily has been trying find ways to entertain herself lately. It gets boring at the house alone after all so today besides wanting to get food she decides to let Bandersnatch out. Walking with the chain at her side it starts to snarl at people close to her. It might be because he mood has been a little sporadic lately. Still when the chain someone to harass she doesn't do much, letting the creature intimidate the person. That is until she sees someone familiar walking by her.

Perking up Lily turns to look at him and smiles brightly. It was the knight man!]

Hey! ...um....Flynn!

[thatdamnknight]

[a familiar voice calling out to him gets him to stop and look around. his eyes fall onto a certain cute little girl a short distance away and a warm smile comes her way. what a pleasant surprise seeing her here.]

Oh hello, Lily.

[that smile falters momentarily upon noticing the animal with her. it isn't fear so much as curiosity about this weird looking animal. my what sharp claws and teeth you have, pooch.]

Is this your dog?

anyway, it's not like leia won't smile in return. of course she will, and even though it's more like "hardly working" for now, she'll lean in to get a better look at the screen. how is he actually doing this well?]

Not as hard as you. [ha ha--okay, she's joking (no one works harder than her, no one).] You've been kind of a regular lately, haven't you?

[not his fault that he's awesome. oh look. the car manages to snag a power-up and the speed shoots up with zero sign of diminishing control.]

Only during lunches. The food here is good quality and at a fair price.

[as someone who grew up poor, food with flavor and that he could afford easily is the best thing ever. it's almost weird, really, to not be hungry for a good chunk of the week. his smile becomes a tad sheepish.]

I have to admit that the arcade is becoming a draw, too.

[the more games played, the more addicting they become. flynn's falling into that dangerous gamer spiral.]

[A bright smile on her face she nearly bounces towards the blond. She was happy to see he was still around especially since so many people she's met have left...]

How are you?

[The chain perks at the mention to it and growls towards the knight. It was really in a foul mood until Lily bops it's head and it lowers to the ground.]

Flynn isn't a play thing.

[Her voice is far more stern that what someone might think a child will say.]

Huh? Oh, kinda? He's a Chain! This is Bandersnatch.

[his own smile returns full force as lily draws near.]

I'm fine. How about you?

[the... chain doesn't scare flynn or anything, especially considering how easily lily manages to calm him down. there's definitely curiosity as to what it is, though.]

A Chain?

[is that some sort of dog breed?]

[Giggling she tugs at his top before noticing his food.]

I'm good! What do ya got there?

[It looks like it might be good!

Back to her chain she smiles more and pets the creatures head.]

Yeah! A creature of the Abyss!

Just a few ingredients for dinner.

[the abyss? huh, a weird, if sort of creepy name. ah well, flynn's willing to leave the issue of lily's pet at this. no reason to hound her when she looks so happy.]

I see. And what's his name?

[she always knew he would. nevertheless, she nods, because their food really is something to be proud of, too. she's definitely glad she turned him on to this place. in a teasing tone:]

Just be careful you're not late getting back to work.

[because she assumes that's what he means when he says lunch. his break. isn't that when they met the firs time...?]

[yuup. lunch breaks: mandatory so he has to actually take them and it's the best time to meet people. he laughs a little.]

Don't worry. I always factor in a few additional minutes to spare just in case.

[mr. perfect? late? hah, there's a higher chance of him going to the pleasure district than being late to work.

oh and with that game? someone just got a high score.]

[ooooooh! she's taken in by this, rather than him boasting about how responsible he is. please, flynn.]

Heeey, you did it!

[she gives him a congratulatory pat on his shoulder in her excitement (which is only a little bit violent--a little...) Leia, you weren't even the one who won.]

It wasn't anything that great. I ended up missing several of the speed boosts.

[said casually and with a smile as flynn puts in his name. something so imperfect isn't worthy of praise. gosh, so at least 3 chances to speed up were missed. give it another run or two and he'll nail it completely.]

[She is curious now, it looks like it might be tasty.]

[Whatever, whatever. Though speed is kind of the name of the game, isn't it?

She watches him anyway and once he's done, she tilts her head curiously.]

So you like racing games?

I'm planning on making beef bowl since it's been a while since I've had some.

[and it's so good, too. then again, ANYTHING with meat is good. mmm meat.]

I guess so.

[he's thoughtful for a moment before speaking again.]

But all of these games are pretty enjoyable regardless of their genre.

[none of the games really are that much worse than any other. he likes them all. ...and he's probably gotten high scores on a good chunk, too.]

I'm sure you have some favorites, though. Doesn't anything stand out?

[AS AN EMPLOYEE it's her job to know these things!! plus she's just kind of curious about his preferences, okay...

Hmm... I suppose the fighting games.

[they ARE the ones he tends to go to a lot. maybe rita's commentary on him being a battle maniac wasn't too far off.]

They're not at all realistic, but attempting to pull off more difficult special combos is good for sharpening reflexes.

[training even while having fun: the true essence of flynn.]

[Lily looks really curious now.]

[there ARE enough ingrediants for two. flynn maybe planned to make it his breakfast, too (yes, somehow that's healthy).]

[he'd get along with Jude.....

that aside, it's not like she can disapprove. fighting games are among her favorites, too, even if she prefers ViViD putting you in the middle of the action.]

It's pretty satisfying to put the computer in its place.

[she nods.]

But I guess that goes for a lot of games.

Competing against the computer is fun, but playing against an actual person is more so.

[nothing feels as good as kicking actual people's butts as opposed to ai. get a challenging adversary and you're bound to have a hell of fun match. granted, him and yuri tend to get a bit too intense in their matches, but that just adds to the fun.]

It's not as easy to predict what your opponent will do or how they'll react then.

[way more of a challenge and way more enjoyable!]

[yeah, yeah, but sometimes the computer is a cheating bastard. anyway, it's not like leia disagrees. she trains with a lot of people, both at the gym and in ViViD.]

It's a good way to make friends, too! Hey, we should play together sometime.
