[semi-open] did u hear the joke about the dragon
Who:
perfectstrike & anyone who might have cause to try to call Peko to check up on her after the CERESTour!
When: just after the CERESTour into the next day (ic: 1/26-1/27)
Where: CERES Hospital
What: Peko got herself injured during the CERESTour and is patently confused as to why people keep visiting her.
Rating/Warning: Warning for blood and talk about injuries, but nothing gorey or gruesome.
[Immediately following the tour, Mosley had kindly ushered group three to the hospital for their sustained injuries. Peko, having gotten herself hit with the sharp end of a not-so-virtual dragon's claw, had needed to be rushed to get several nasty-looking gashes cleaned and stitched, along with some smaller burns treated. Swords aren't much good against things that can fly and breathe fire, after all.
Some time later, she can be found in the wing tended to by human and humanoid doctors (no androids here, please), seated quietly in one of the beds with her eyes closed as if she's asleep. The heart rate monitor is beeping quietly and steadily, and there's an IV hooked to her right arm to replenish some of the fluid she'd lost from bleeding everywhere earlier. All in all, though, she looks fine! If the ripped and bloody sailor suit in the corner and the fresh white bandages covering her left bicep and peeking out from above the cut of her hospital gown over her chest are any indication. At least the gown is cute, with happy little robots printed in a pattern along the fabric. To promote organic healing, of course!
Before the Cerevice goes down, though, she'll be answering calls with voice and just generally trying to rest and recover in the hospital. She's fine, though, really--!]

I had to see if everyone was okay. It looks like Yang checked out early... that's probably a good thing, right? [ Meanwhile England is drunk somewhere and Rio wasn't that injured to begin with, so it looks like he'll be touching base with just Peko for now. ]
no subject
[She might call him once the Cerevices are back up?? That's something, right?]
Knowing Yang... I am certain she would only check out if she were healthy enough to do so, so yes.
[Says Peko 'going to leave by tomorrow whether they let me or not, I'm fine' Pekoyama.]
In any case... please have a seat, if you would like. I am not certain if you should be standing.
[There's flowers on the chair there for visitors, but they can be easily moved aside! There's also her bed, but I don't recommend that seating option. Her sword is still laying there within easy reach.]
no subject
[ Well, since she didn't specify where and the seats are occupied, Jaune will continuously misinterpret everything and make it awkward by sitting on the edge of her bed. He doesn't cover much of it at all, really, so it looks more like his upper thighs are resting against it than actually sitting. ]
I... don't suppose you got room for one more of these?
[ He offers her the tulip, clearly aware of the jungle of flowers that's already surrounding them. Peko must be popular? ]
no subject
And then her jaw drops a little at the realization that he's offering the flower to her. T-two gifts of flowers in one day?? How could this happen to her, Peko Pekoyama???]
I-I... that is, um...
[She's blushing again. It's actually kind of sad how surprised she is.]
I-if you are offering it as a gift, I would... gratefully accept it.
no subject
Y-Yeah, of course it's a gift. Well, I mean... it's also an apology, too. I keep thinking we could've done more, y'know?
no subject
Hearing it's also an apology, though, she frowns. That flare to her cheeks isn't going away, but she doesn't seem as unexpectedly pleased about it as she was.]
There is nothing to apologize for. We fought as well as we could, under the circumstances.
no subject
That's really nice of you to say. I.. I'm glad you're okay... [ And the fact that she isn't expressing any opinions of him being a failure is a small relief, as he still has himself to convince of it, too. ]
Do you still have the samples you were collecting?
no subject
I have received worse injuries than this.
[She moves as if to shrug, then grimaces and thinks better of it almost immediately, instead shifting to try to sit up a little higher as she nods to him.]
Of course. Though... [and she hesitates, glancing out the door to her room. She doesn't like talking about this kind of stuff where just anyone might walk by and overhear them, after all.] Do you speak Japanese, by chance?
["Jaune Arc" doesn't sound very Japanese to her, but maybe he'll surprise her?]
no subject
N-No...
[ Oh no, he's gonna disappoint her and his loser cred will be established!! Quick, Jaune, recover from this disaster!
He tilts forward just a little as he whispers. ]
.........do you want me to learn it? 'Cause I would if that's what it takes. In fact, I'm ready to learn ten words right now!
no subject
[What? Why are you closer. Why ten?? What a random number. Peko just blinks up at him again, clearly a little lost.]
No, it's fine, unless you want to. It would have been a somewhat more secure way to converse, is all.
In any case, I will need to find a way to analyze what I uncovered... Unfortunately, I need to wait until I am permitted to leave here.

[ Jaune reaches for the clipboard with some of Peko's medical data that was attached to her bed and flips the paper over. He won't be using his arms in combat anytime soon, but he's medicated enough to use his hands for writing without any struggle.
The other side of the paper is a perfect blank canvas for them to write on, which Jaune does so before showing her his scribble. ]
do you think we're being watched?
i think i know someone who could help you with that analyzing stuff
no subject
[She's silent as she watches him with mild curiosity, expression only clearing once she realizes what he's doing. That's a good idea! Wins him a couple points in her estimation, anyway.
Once he turns the pad over, she nods and gestures with her uninjured hand. Fortunately, it's her right hand, so she's able to prop the board against the bed itself and try to write as best she can.]
Someone could be listening. Who do you know?
no subject
Detective Shiho Sannomiya. The first thing she always asks of her clients are for physical items rather than the usual questions. A few days later and she has the case blown wide open. I think she has a secret forensics lab or something.
[ He looks up at her for a moment, then writes some more on it. ]
Can I ask you something else?
no subject
Do you trust her? [Then she points to his question and just nods in affirmative, rather than bother writing it out.]
no subject
He then presses his pen against the paper, but immediately scribbles out whatever he wrote. He coughs for a moment before trying again, but the result is the same. Eventually he manages to get some kind of question out and presents it back to Peko. ]
Do you want to go on a dateWhat movies do yDo you
want to go on aknow a man called Sousei?[ Time and place, Jaune!! ]
no subject
...Or not. She blinks at the scribbles, then just looks up to him to nod again. Yes, she knows Sousei. Why?]
no subject
I don't think I'll be leaving here anytime soon. I would like to trust you with giving him something for me. A small data disc.
[ He was meant to meet up with him at the tour for this, but... things happened obviously! And with the Cerevices being down for who knows how long, it may be a while until they can be in contact again. ...Not that he wants Sousei to see him in a pathetic state like this anyway. ]
no subject
At realizing that Jaune is someone who at least knows Sousei well enough to give important information to, he does climb another few ranks in Peko's estimation. From someone who's not a terrible fighter to someone maybe she wouldn't mind getting to know a little better. Pro...gress...]
Of course. Of the people here, Abe is one of the few I trust implicitly. If it is important, I will ensure he receives it as soon as possible.
no subject
He lifts his left leg and bends forward just enough to open a secret compartment in the tongue of his shoe. A tiny note is pulled out of it, and it reads a passcode: 7-2-4-2
This is not important.
Remembering numbers is hard for Jaune, just as left and right is sometimes. This is the combination to his locker, and what he really wanted to reach for is hidden in the tongue of his right shoe, which he promptly retrieves and hopes Peko didn't peek at his passcode!! The other item in question happens to be the a small data disc, the size of a coin and it's in a sturdy case that managed to survive their recent trial in ViViD... or whatever that was!. Inside the disc, should Peko choose to view it later (Jaune doesn't mind), will reveal certain information about Elias that Rin managed to recover for him.
With a grateful nod, he offers it to her. ]
no subject
But the disc, that's something that kind of makes sense, and she nods as she takes it. She... doesn't have any actual pockets right now, thanks to the hospital gown, but if it's important...
Instead of trying to get out of bed and put it with her torn skirt, she just tucks it into the gown itself. That disc is now nestled safely between her boobs to be retrieved when she can put it somewhere more secure.]
I'll take care of it.
no subject
But, wow. Boobs are... certainly a useful storage compartment, aren't they? As he stares probably a little longer than he should have, he wonders what the other girls in his life are hiding in theirs. This forbidden place of magical wonders. Is this really just curiosity about what girls are hiding inside them, though? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We'll never know. ]
I-I'm glad I can trust you!
[ ...Ooops. Realizing they're speaking again, he quickly writes more on their piece of paper that's gradually running out of writing space. ]
I'm glad I can trust you!
[ So unnecessary. ]
no subject
How do you know Abe?
[Apparently this, she doesn't consider sensitive enough to write down? And now she doesn't really want to take her eyes off him to look at the paper while writing, either.]
no subject
Pyrrha... and now he deflates again, reminded of his failed mission to find out why she disappeared in the first place. ]
I've just known him ever since coming here. He's strong... and my partner liked to spar with him. She was really strong, too, and I wasn't, so they sparred. They sparred while I was trying to catch up to their level.
[ He's not as bitter as this might make him sound. Even though he felt excluded, he was happy that Pyrrha could train with somebody without holding back. He understands it's an important part of improving. ]
no subject
THough oh, even with Peko's extraordinarily stunted social skills, she can tell something she said hit a sore spot with the way he deflates. She has no way of knowing what it is, though, and it tempers a bit of her own annoyance at being stared at.]
I see. And this partner of yours...? Did something happen?
[Considering he's using past tense, here.]
no subject
[ Yang, England... and even Peko, as he glances at her a little less intrusively this time. This can't all have been for nothing, he hopes. ]
