[semi-open] did u hear the joke about the dragon
Who:
perfectstrike & anyone who might have cause to try to call Peko to check up on her after the CERESTour!
When: just after the CERESTour into the next day (ic: 1/26-1/27)
Where: CERES Hospital
What: Peko got herself injured during the CERESTour and is patently confused as to why people keep visiting her.
Rating/Warning: Warning for blood and talk about injuries, but nothing gorey or gruesome.
[Immediately following the tour, Mosley had kindly ushered group three to the hospital for their sustained injuries. Peko, having gotten herself hit with the sharp end of a not-so-virtual dragon's claw, had needed to be rushed to get several nasty-looking gashes cleaned and stitched, along with some smaller burns treated. Swords aren't much good against things that can fly and breathe fire, after all.
Some time later, she can be found in the wing tended to by human and humanoid doctors (no androids here, please), seated quietly in one of the beds with her eyes closed as if she's asleep. The heart rate monitor is beeping quietly and steadily, and there's an IV hooked to her right arm to replenish some of the fluid she'd lost from bleeding everywhere earlier. All in all, though, she looks fine! If the ripped and bloody sailor suit in the corner and the fresh white bandages covering her left bicep and peeking out from above the cut of her hospital gown over her chest are any indication. At least the gown is cute, with happy little robots printed in a pattern along the fabric. To promote organic healing, of course!
Before the Cerevice goes down, though, she'll be answering calls with voice and just generally trying to rest and recover in the hospital. She's fine, though, really--!]

[It keeps happening. Teammates keep apologizing to her, and she isn't completely sure why. Peko certainly doesn't feel like she herself owes anyone an apology, which is starting to make her think that she's done something wrong and just isn't aware of it yet.
At least Rio explains a little better than Jaune or England, though, and at first, Peko only nods. If Rio wants to apologize for not immediately doing what Peko said, that's fine; the nod means she'll accept it. But then--]
It's fine. No permanent damage has been done. [It does hurt like hell, though, so she's pretty grateful for the painkillers they put her on.] Hopefully, it will not be something we will need to encounter again in the future... or if it is, now that we know more about each other's capabilities, we may do better.

[At least Peko is graceful about it... and at least she accepted the apology, in a way. Rio twines her hands together, glancing aside as if uncomfortable, then back at her.]
I had been hoping I wouldn't have to use that power so liberally. It isn't something I want to become dependent on.
[Probably because it doesn't represent her so much as the vengeful being that decided to use her as spiritual fodder and a pawn all at the same time. Not that anyone in the group seemed to recognize her or mind much when she was helping them dismantle various enemies, anyway.]
But that aside, is there anything you've been wanting from the city? If so, I'd be happy to bring something for you. It can't be terribly comfortable, after all.

[Peko just gives Rio a careful look, though she doesn't pry further into the nature of her powers. After all, all Peko can tell is that it's some kind of transformation, and if Rio doesn't want to use it, that's entirely her prerogative. As long as she uses it when it's necessary.]
I see. [She doesn't, but she's willing to leave it at that. Instead, she just blinks at the offer, as if she hadn't considered it.] I... um, no, thank you. It's not worth the inconvenience.

[...For making the dragon put a nice gash into your shoulder, is the unspoken ending to that sentence. Still, the air doesn't get any less awkward, and Rio wonders how to ease things.]
...You know, for a high schooler, you are quite skilled with a sword.
[As if that's much better.]

The continuation isn't unwelcome, though, and Peko glances back to her, lips curving into a bit of a puzzled frown.]
It's my talent, [she says simply. There's another bit of pause before she remembers that yes, elaboration is something that has to be done in normal conversations.] ...Which is to say, I have been practicing kendo since I was old enough to hold a blade. My skill is enough that Hope's Peak Academy admitted me as the Super High School Level Swordswoman...
...but as you were able to see, a sword is not enough in these kinds of situations.

Against a foe as large as that, you cannot have been expected to do everything and escape unscathed. It was barely enough for the three of us to take it down, wasn't it?
[But still the guilt lingers. Trying not to make a fool of herself, she continues, a little hesitantly.]
But you had no protections, and nothing to use against it other than your sword itself. I think there is something to be said about the courage that requires.

[She just hums, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with Rio's assessment. It's true, that in normal circumstances, her skill would be more than enough. But circumstances here are never normal, and if she can't trust in her ability to protect herself, how can she possibly think she can protect those important to her?]
It is not about courage, for me, [she says finally, after another long pause.] My sword has always been a tool to protect those whom I must protect, and cut those whom I must cut. In this place... that tool is no longer enough.
In any case, you fought well, yourself. I would not have guessed you possessed such skill.
