one. it was a gentle tap, really
[ today malia is trying to Do Her Best. well, that's probably every day with her but today she's trying to do her best when it comes to just basic shopping. she's saved up quite a bit of money over her months here and is looking for a way to spend it today. she just... doesn't want anything, is the problem? either way, she drags herself to the marketplace today with the decision that she will spend something. for herself. that's not clothes or food. something beyond THE BASIC NECESSITIES. it's crazy.
right now, she's looking in the window of a shoe store, looking between the very fancy ones in the window and then her own boots. she runs a hand through her hair with a sigh and --
Hello! Would you like to try a free sample? she's interrupted by a robot. ]
No, I'm fine, I--
[ Our records indicate that you have not made a purchase in the Marketplace yet. Please, let us help you make a purchase! ]
No, really, I don't need any--
[ Refusal to comply will result in detainment! Come with me, come with me! and then the robot grabs her arm. big mistake.
there's what sounds like a growl there and suddenly malia lifts her foot to kick it right into the robot's chest. the robot goes flying, crashing right through at least three stalls and through the wall of a building. debris everywhere and the crowd looks over at malia. ]
Ohhh, shit.
[ does anyone want to help her?! ]
two. accidentally delinquent'd
version a:
[ lunch time! malia doesn't like school, she's not very good at it and she doesn't have many friends because she's an anti-social poop. still, she keeps going because it's the one stable tie that she has to something similar to life at home. she's still failing half her classes and struggling to maintain C's but she's trying, at least.
lunch time is nice though. free food, peace and quiet, and she doesn't get graded for it. today is her favorite -- large piles of meat and she orders two helpings. the problem is, with such big helpings she has to be very careful how to walk in order not to tip them over. which is why you (yes, YOU) are going to be in super big trouble when there is an inevitable collision and malia's food goes everywhere. there's a beat of silence before she growls, snapping her teeth at you. ]
Hey! Watch where the hell you're going!
version b:
[ alternatively: if you don't want to be on the bad side of malia, there is always detention. yep, unfortunately if you didn't bump into malia, someone else did and there was a very big scuffle over it. this scuffle has landed malia in detention for the entire next two weeks because APPARENTLY the school frowns on biting your peers. go figure.
so, if you are the unfortunate soul to end up with her, be graced with a malia tate sitting in the back of the detention room and flinging rubber bands at their robot teacher supervisor. who apparently doesn't really care. how annoying. ]
three. this is only funny if you've watched only god forgives too
[ today there is a teen girl at the gym, dressed very gym-y and with her hair tied back. she's been going at it with the punching bags for a while, practicing skills she's learned from a certain ninja over her time here and just feeling pretty good. she's getting bored though, the adrenaline building up more and more until she sends a very frustrated hand through the bag, sending filling everywhere. she stares down at the mess, giving an awkward cough before walking away.
then, perhaps, she spots you who are also equally exercising here at the gym. she might watch whatever you're doing for a while before approaching, an eager grin on her face as she bounces on her toes. ]
Hey, hey. Wanna fight?
[ she doesn't look that intimidating, right? ]
wildcard. insert lycanthropy joke here
[ seriously she's a loser, someone save her from her loser-y ways. ]
(( OOC: holy shit i'm really slow and super sorry for it! i'm still getting to these, just. slowly. ))

Isn't it just sugar? I don't really eat it.
no subject
And since Malia's plate is safe, Veronica stoops down to start picking up her own plate though the contents have long been scattered all over the floor. It's probably best to make sure no one trips, right?]
Why do you not eat it?
no subject
Uhm, it's probably more than sugar! I just, I don't know the rest.
[ oh! she sort of blinks down and watches veronica pick up her food. should she... apologize for that? no? it was veronica's fault! probably? oh god. ]
It looks all weird and it jiggles. It doesn't make any sense. Food isn't blue.
no subject
[So it was something that was causing the thing to jiggle.]
That is alright, I was planning on reading about it.
[Veronica hasn't even thought about blaming Malia for this, and she's calm and methodical as she picks everything up, scooting most of it onto one of the trays. She's even started cleaning Malia's one dropped tray as well.]
It is quite interesting, I think. Blueberries are also blue although not quite the same shade. Why does it jiggle? Simply for the sake of weirdness? Surely not.
no subject
[ but malia still does feel kind of guilty as she watches veronica clean so she's going to take a step forward to the jello and quietly grab a blue one when the lunch robot isn't looking. she'll keep her back to the thing so it doesn't see her hold it out to veronica. ]
I don't really eat blueberries but you can eat this. It smells... sweet so it probably tastes good. Er, I think the jiggling is part of what makes it it.
no subject
[She catches the movement from the corner of her eye and raises her head to see the much-desired blue jello cup. Veronica's expression lights up upon seeing it and in return, she offers Malia a warm smile.]
Thank you very much!
[She carefully wipes her hand on one of the napkins they'd dropped before reaching out and taking the jello cup in both hands.]
I suppose it does. Nothing else is quite like it, so surely the jiggling must be a characteristic. But I wonder why?
no subject
I bet it's to get you to eat it. It's all bright and it smells sweet and it draws attention to itself. It makes you want to eat it.
[ animal logic right there ]
no subject
It is like the way flowers and bright and smell sweet, is it not?
Although perhaps not for quite the same reason.
[Malia's still here, so Veronica turns to her as she straightens up, the stacked trays in her hands.]
Are you not going to eat lunch? Would you like to eat together?
no subject
I... guess? I never really thought a lot about flowers.
[ but right at the offer, malia is... actually going to accept! she doesn't mind and veronica's actually been nice so far. so, she smiles and gives a short nod. ]
Sure. What are you having anyway, besides the jello?
[ she'll take a step back and sort of wait for veronica to pick a table for them. if she does, malia will just follow her to it! ]
no subject
[Veronica looks down at the mess of the trays in her hand for a brief moment before looking back up with a bright smile.]
I will be getting some pasta. It is not like the things I learned to make during cooking class, so I would very much like to try it. Oh, and perhaps some of the broccoli as well? [But by the time she comes back her plate will probably be filled with little bites of nearly everything on offer. She wanted to try it all and only had a limited amount of space for it.]
Will you wait for me? I will be back.
no subject
What's the use in that? ... Is it so people don't pick it?
[ shouldn't the brighter flowers have stronger scents? now she's legitimately curious about this. but at veronica's wish for food, she gives a nod. she's satisfied with her own plate to meat so she just holds it tighter and stands a little straighter. ]
That's fine. I'll be right here.
no subject
[Veronica sets the mess down where the trays are collected before heading off, coming back as soon as she can with a plate that is really one, big, eclectic collection of food.]
Where shall we sit? Somewhere close to the window?
no subject
she's still sort of thinking of flowers with veronica comes back, looking off to the side before nodding. she'll head straight to an empty table, close to the window right after. ]
How do you know so much about flowers, by the way? Are you like a... uhm, I forgot the word. One of those people who works with flowers for like, a job.
[ a botanist, she means! ]
no subject
[Veronica sets her tray down on the table, taking a seat and waiting for Malia to take hers.]
I am not one. It is just that I find flowers very interesting and read a lot of books from the library in order to know more about them.
no subject
So, which one is your favorite? If you read so much about them, you have to have a favorite.
no subject
[Veronica starts on the jello cup as she thinks. She didn't really have a favourite since she tended to like all of them, finding each more interesting than the last.]
I suppose it would be the roses that we had back at Rainesburg. The ones that bloomed in the summer. But it is my favourite more for the memories than anything.
