At first it is only dark. The blackness cannot be seen through no matter how used to the dark you are; it's a blackness that defies light in every way.
And then, contrarily, there is light.
Blue, purple, green, the strands of light brighten the way enough to allow the space that you are in to be seen. It's decrepit. Lines of light like strings run through, around and are tied to what seem to be old, half-coded buildings, because it is undoubtedly true that everything present is code.
Everything is slightly off here.
The floor may suddenly no longer be solid, and then you're falling, through blackness and empty space, until you are dropped right back where you were before, an unsettling glitch that truly has no impact in the end. A building, half-finished and unreal, can be walked through as if it isn't there.
And strung up by those lines of light, there are faces.
They may be faces you know, people you have seen before. They may even be the faces of people back home, but they have passed through Cerealia before, and that is why they are here. This is, after all, the Nexus Code--Nexus Space. And you are not alone here; it seems you are all stuck here, and there's no exit to be found. The bodies can't be interacted with; if you try to touch them, your fingers will pass right through them, just as you can't touch the lights.
But the problem isn't with the lights, or the buildings, or the floor, or the bodies. No, the problem is with you, because the longer you're in here, the more your body fades away as your code is corrupted by your surroundings. Bit by bit, you can touch less, feel less, see less, hear less, until it's clear that you're doomed to fade away.
And even worse, the longer you look at those motionless, strung up bodies of friends and family, the more it becomes clear, a niggling sensation that you can't shake: there are faces that should be here that are missing, as well.

Welcome to the wrap-up to Cerealia's July event!
Characters have been dropped into the Nexus Code, and there's no easy way out of here; the bodies they will find will be those of any character that has dropped from Cerealia except for those with high magic abilities or spiritual affinity of some sort. Those characters will be mysteriously absent, even if they were dropped from Cerealia before. Feel free to use your best judgement in that.
Please visit the OOC information here, and should you have any questions, feel free to ask them here! You can also check the FAQ for more general inquiries. Characters will be stuck in the Nexus Code for one full day: 8/01 to 8/03, or IC 2/13 through 2/14. Should this event log hit Captcha, there is an all-purpose overflow here. Thank you! |

well, heck. she's even crying right now as she looks up at the bodies before her. there's definitely a lot, even ones whom she doesn't know. but there's xion, gareki, klavier gavin, apollo justice, and that's just four names amongst the many bodies she's familiar with. ]
This is— [ no, even if she's talking to herself, she can't say it out loud. but she knows it. this is what will happen to her, too. ] I'm going to be...
[ she tries to reach for apollo justice, maybe there's something she could do. but she just passes through him when she does, and it just makes her crying even louder. ]

Of course it's Archer, ever the stoic. He might not be good at being a friend but no one ever said he wasn't good at being a rock in a storm. That, for one, was just about all he was good at.]

At best, he remembers to put his arms around her, lightly patting her back. Thankfully not awkwardly since he's well beyond that.]

I- It's- It's finally going to happen...! We're going to die!
[ shaking and crying over here THIS IS SO HARD. ]

[A voice tries to say calmly as he steps up behind her. He sadly smiles at the image of Apollo, then he looks towards Athena.
It's when we're at our worst times...]
We're all going to be alright, Athena. I just know it.
no subject
[ that sends her to start, and she quickly dries her tears, not even caring that her sleeves are the ones she's using to wipe them away. ]
S- Sorry, what? We'll be fine!
[if there's definitely somebody who can switch on athena's (fake) optimism, it's phoenix wright and co. ]
no subject
[He knows her optimism may be being faked... but to be fair, some of his is as well. There is some fear underlying his words, unfortunately, but he presses on. Maybe they can make their way to real optimism eventually.]
And so will Apollo. This isn't the end.
no subject
[ it takes a lot out of her to feign courage right now, so her voice is shaky, but mentioning apollo is pretty much working. ]
Apollo wouldn't give up so easily, right?

She's pretty bad at moments like this, having faced death down multiple times, but Athena clearly needs some support. Approaching, she slips an arm around her shoulder and leaves it there.]
Athena. It'll be fine. You're not going anywhere.
no subject
sorry, rei. you'll have to probably shake her to get her to talk back to you right now. ]
no subject
Athena. [No honorific. The Miko's voice is grave, serious, commanding even.] Athena, snap out of it. Don't give in like this.
no subject
[ it looks like she's snapped out of her daze, but she's still crying. ]
Rei...? No, not you too.

[Ai is right there next to her friend, and taking Athena's hand in hers. She sounds tired due to he past few days and now that they're in this kind of mess...
She doesn't want to focus on herself right now though.]

[ her voice is so weak, it'd be understandable if ai wasn't able to hear her fully. ]

The longer you look, the more you're hurting yourself. Let's head in another direction.

[Edgeworth steps over to her, deliberately avoiding making eye contact with Shirou Emiya, strung up like a puppet among lights, along the way. His jaw is set and his glare is prominent on his face.]
None of us will. [He hangs on to his own experience - leaving this world, seeing his home for several days, and then returning with those memories and everything else of his intact.]
no subject
Mr. Edgeworth... You're- [ a pause, and she inhales deeply. her exhale is just as deep, letting off a lot of pent up stress the past couple of days. ] You're right.
[ her frown isn't as bad anymore, because "none of us will" certainly did help bring her spirits up. now, she just looks like she hasn't slept in a while, and is about to turn loony. ]
But we need to get out of here. We need to go back to the colony as functioning codes.
no subject
He nods, not dwelling on the code part.]
Yes, we do. We won't find a way out if we just stand here gaping at...at these. [Edgeworth waves a hand over Apollo Justice, not referring to him as a corpse or simply a body.]

[ her mindspace is just so confused right now. normally, she'd believe everything will be okay, but... to actually experience death - or close to it. . . maybe that's why she's been hearing this song about death for a few days now. it was a sign. ]
What if we never get out of here alive?
no subject
[He......is probably the worst motivator.]
We should at least do something productive.

[Says the distorted, inhuman, voice. She'll find him teetering on the edge a nearby shadow, dressed in jet black save for the silver mask that covers his entire face. He approaches her slowly, an air of confidence and certainty in each step coupled with danger and suspicion. Well, anyone who dresses like him and feels the need to cover his face has to be suspicious right?]
It's a bit too early to give up, no?
no subject
Who are you?
no subject
[He stops at a certain distance, just enough not to alarm or scare Athena anymore.]
Personally though, I'd like to think I'm an ally of something greater.
