At first it is only dark. The blackness cannot be seen through no matter how used to the dark you are; it's a blackness that defies light in every way.
And then, contrarily, there is light.
Blue, purple, green, the strands of light brighten the way enough to allow the space that you are in to be seen. It's decrepit. Lines of light like strings run through, around and are tied to what seem to be old, half-coded buildings, because it is undoubtedly true that everything present is code.
Everything is slightly off here.
The floor may suddenly no longer be solid, and then you're falling, through blackness and empty space, until you are dropped right back where you were before, an unsettling glitch that truly has no impact in the end. A building, half-finished and unreal, can be walked through as if it isn't there.
And strung up by those lines of light, there are faces.
They may be faces you know, people you have seen before. They may even be the faces of people back home, but they have passed through Cerealia before, and that is why they are here. This is, after all, the Nexus Code--Nexus Space. And you are not alone here; it seems you are all stuck here, and there's no exit to be found. The bodies can't be interacted with; if you try to touch them, your fingers will pass right through them, just as you can't touch the lights.
But the problem isn't with the lights, or the buildings, or the floor, or the bodies. No, the problem is with you, because the longer you're in here, the more your body fades away as your code is corrupted by your surroundings. Bit by bit, you can touch less, feel less, see less, hear less, until it's clear that you're doomed to fade away.
And even worse, the longer you look at those motionless, strung up bodies of friends and family, the more it becomes clear, a niggling sensation that you can't shake: there are faces that should be here that are missing, as well.

Welcome to the wrap-up to Cerealia's July event!
Characters have been dropped into the Nexus Code, and there's no easy way out of here; the bodies they will find will be those of any character that has dropped from Cerealia except for those with high magic abilities or spiritual affinity of some sort. Those characters will be mysteriously absent, even if they were dropped from Cerealia before. Feel free to use your best judgement in that.
Please visit the OOC information here, and should you have any questions, feel free to ask them here! You can also check the FAQ for more general inquiries. Characters will be stuck in the Nexus Code for one full day: 8/01 to 8/03, or IC 2/13 through 2/14. Should this event log hit Captcha, there is an all-purpose overflow here. Thank you! |

Who are you?

[He stops at a certain distance, just enough not to alarm or scare Athena anymore.]
Personally though, I'd like to think I'm an ally of something greater.
no subject
Are you with CERES? Or LILITH?
no subject
[He looks over the person she tried to touch, then the rest of the people she was passing.]
People you know?

[He looks over them again wondering how he would react if he were in her situation.]
This must be difficult for you.
[Obviously.]

It is, and it hurts here, [ athena places a hand over her heart. ] But this isn't the worst that's happened.
no subject
I see. Then perhaps it'd be best we leave this place and search for an exit.
[Or someplace nicer to rest.]

We will never know unless we search.
[He's not certain. He's honestly just looking for a place where we can get comfy until he figures something out.]
Would you like to join me?
no subject
Alright. I think I'll be able to help.
no subject
That's good to hear. Now lets be on our way miss...
[A beat.]
May I have your name, miss?

[He starts to look around to try and get some bearings.]
Hmmm. I guess for starters, we should try to figure out what this place is. Do you have any clue?
no subject
I think this is where corrupted codes go.
no subject
[Technology. One of his greatest weaknesses.]
Does that mean we are in ViViD right now?
no subject
When we disappear, it means our codes get corrupted. We're in CERES' system right now, or something.
no subject
What do you mean by "disappear"?
[If she's referring to what he thinks she's referring to, then Athena crying at the site of those people will suddenly become a lot heavier.]
no subject
This is what happens to them.

[He places a hand on his chin, deep in thought as he realizes the full gravity of their situation. Honestly, he had a feeling that this was all just some trick to rattle them but for this place to actually be something of note...the realization was bitter. Still, he doesn't allow it to deter him or break his spirit. He needs to press on, and so does she.]
So, if the people we see here now are indeed those who were "saved" by CERES, then perhaps we should try to understand the nature of this place first.
no subject
[ don't believe her bs, richter. she's just making things up. ]
no subject
I realize that, but what I mean if code becomes corrupted, why run the risk of it spreading and corrupting something else? Why keep it around in this place?
no subject
Maybe this is it. It's not... [ shrugs. ] I don't know much about this at all. I'm only a psychology expert.
[ she looks pretty disappointed for not being able to answer his concerns properly. ]
no subject
Don't worry, I'm not an expert with computers either but I know that machines like those can only operate with some kind of command based on logic and desired outcome.
[Also he's mostly just thinking out loud. He thinks of the trash bin idea a little more, though it's not the most savory of ideas, he can't deny that it's a possibility.]
A psychology expert. Then maybe we try looking at it from this angle. If something you worked for to attain, say maybe a pet, became ill, what sort of actions would you take?
