![]() It's been a whole month without any new arrivals. Who knows why? If you ask CERES, they won't bother with any in-depth explanations. They will simply claim that none of the code out there has been responding to their recovery methods, so they had to rework a lot of their technology. However, after several weeks of grueling work, they have finally experienced success! A fresh new batch of faces is coming in, and to celebrate their arrival and the real upcoming holidays, CEO Julius Vincere has arranged for a Christmas-themed carnival for all to enjoy. Those who arrive will wake up in Cerealia and be given a long, boring explanation and powerpoint as per usual before being ushered onto a bus (there is no escape. The robots will force you onto the bus one way or another). You will be unwillingly carted to the theme park where you will be immediately assaulted by a giant array of lights followed by several rides that you can enjoy. After you disembark from the bus, one of the snowman robots will be waiting to give you tickets to the rides and show you around as part of the Grand Opening. The amusement park will remain open for the rest of the month of December so anyone can visit as they please. The first couple tickets will also be on the house for new arrivals, but the rest will have to be bought with credits, so choose wisely! (Or try and sneak into the rides -- then face the wrath of the snowman robots and their snowman firearms :D)

[That would be one of Weiss's sled-mates, who probably made that sound just as the coaster. He'd been enjoying that, thank you very much, as terrifyingly breakneck as the speed had been. Naoki grips the side of the sled and rises to his feet after a glance at Weiss.
Well, since she's getting her fight on, he ought to do something too. One of the santas flies his way with a sword, but he flicks up his hand casually and a blast of wind intercepts it, strong enough it's easily slammed backward.]
So much for the ride being fun.
no subject
or if the world of rwby has santa or christmas at all...still, she tries not to be too hassled by the fact that this day just keeps progressively getting worse, because that will just make her more irritated than she already is. and nobody wants weiss schnee that irritated.
at least this guy seems to be willing to take up some slack. when she finishes parrying off a santa's rather impressive backswing, she spares the man a glance. ]
What part of this monstrosity was fun for you?
no subject
[He answers in good humour, considering...
And Naoki's gaze cuts to the side at another approaching santa. He watches its sword swing down, then moves his hand to punch at the flat of the blade (as you do), watching the metal splinter easily and sending that one careening off with another blast of wind to its beardy face.
Once that's done:] Sounds like it wasn't your thing, though.
no subject
I would have preferred it without the added company, I think.
[ she punctuates her point with a sudden flick of her wrist, sending her rapier slicing through the air, and a sprinkle of bright blue dust towards an incoming santa, who suddenly freezes solid in the air. ]
no subject
Another santa that comes too close goes cartwheeling off courtesy of a punch this time, and Naoki shakes his hand loose. He's trying not to use too much of his strength; couple a narrow space with a precarious perch and he's worried about wrecking things.
Another quick look over to take in her swordwork with interest, coupled with whatever she's using to freeze them...]
Eh, same here. I like rides better when there's not an ambush of-- Santas with swords right in the middle. [--] Looks like they're running out of them to throw at us, though. I'll take care of this side.
no subject
which just frustrates her more, tbh, but competition is the spice of life. or something!
at least he seems to acknowledge that she can hold her own, even if this nonestop fighting has made her a little breathless by now. she hasn't yet used her glyphs, at least, which is conserving quite a bit of her energy, but endurance was never really her thing in the first place. ]
Don't get too complacent — I don't trust this thing to let us off that easy.
[ she's turned her attention towards her sword by now, though, using her free hand to spin its chamber to change its setting. her thumb pauses over the red vial sitting within its chamber, but she bites her lip in thought. no — flames in these small quarters? even if it would wipe out a good handful of santas, it would not bode well for the two of them. ]
...Hey. [ she hasn't turned back towards him, nor has she lifted her sword again. instead she keeps her attention on the new batch of santas speeding towards them. ]
That wind thing you did earlier. Can you widen its berth?
no subject
I won't, I won't.
[He laughs as he catches a santa that comes in close, gripping it with his fingers, digging in before punching it back, a crunching blow that scatters it. Stupid things. He cocks his head as she calls to him, not looking away either as he cracks his knuckles slowly, appraising their company.] I can. Got something in mind?
[--teamwork? He's still not used to teamwork aside from his demons and even then.]
no subject
Sort of.
[ she's not entirely sure if it'll work out as well as she'd like — she doesn't often summon so many glyphs at once, but if it means getting rid of all these santas at once, and sparing them both some time and extra energy...
she straightens a little, and spares a few seconds to glance around them, mapping out where the santas are. just as they get closer, her free hand lashes out, two fingers jabbing sharply in the air. within a second, a bright cyan glyph appears beneath every santa. with a twist of her hand, the glyphs turn black, effectively holding each santa in place. ]
Now would be a nice time..!
no subject
Got it--
[He immediately understands the second that he sees the santas stop moving and his hands spread out. The wind he was using earlier was nothing in comparison to the wind that whips now, spreading out around them, just shy of an actual tornado, though he could do that as well. But he's trying to not make other things collapse.
Twisting his hand, the wind slams into the santas, letting loose enough power to crush them and, if that weren't enough, bring them crushing into each other if Weiss releases the glyphs.]
no subject
she still has a pretty good vantage point to appreciate his handiwork, though, and by the time the last of the santas crash into each other, and they're left alone once more, weiss lets out a content little sigh. ]
Not bad.
no subject
Naoki settles back down in his seat when no more appear forthcoming. It won't be good if the ride decides to pick itself right back up and he gets flung off. You know, he'd be okay but he'd still be kinda miffed. He leans forward in his seat slightly, folding his arms against the front of it.]
Pretty good, even. What was that you were using to keep them in place?
no subject
[ she watches him out of the corner of her eye, critical for any tone or expression from him that may offer offense. (she's careful, too, to keep her breathing even. it'd be embarrassing to look so winded when he hardly looks affected.) ]
It's just something I taught myself to do. [ she doesn't quite know how to explain something that's been so innate and common in her world, so she winds up defaulting to the textbook definition: ]
A person's Semblance is a projection of one's Aura, which is an innate, personal power usually unique to an individual.
[ yes of course she'd memorized it. ]
no subject
Naoki has kind of an unusual reaction once he hears Semblance-- he grins. And he looks strangely pleased.]
Semblance, huh. So that really does make you the Weiss that Yang told me about. [The girl who got a pie to the face-- except she asked him not to say that so that'll just be in his head.] Unless I'm wrong and there's more than one girl with your hair and eyes and [...] refinement.
[That's not how Yang put it exactly but he's being polite.]
no subject
Are you a friend of Yang's?
[ her tone is casual, but her eyes are sharp. she hadn't realized yang was around, but he's definitely speaking with familiarity. ]
no subject
Yeah, that's right; we spar together and hang out sometimes. She told me about you-- and the rest of her team. [Shifting, he offers one of his hands to her.] I'm Naoki Kashima.
no subject
then she reaches over, calmly slipping her hand into his to give it a nice, firm shake. ]
Weiss Schnee. [ she realizes introducing herself is redundant, but it felt too rude not to. ] A pleasure.
[ when she withdraws her hand, her tone remains nonchalant. ]
What exactly has Yang told you?
no subject
[He'll shake her hand back firmly, tucking his arms together when she's pulled her hand away.]
She told me you guys's names, what you all looked like and a bit on what you were like... enough for me to recognise you if we ever ran into each other. [He tips his head slightly, adding:] She said you were proper... and that you liked doilies.
no subject
but she never thought yang would betray her quite like this. ]
—she mocked my doilies, didn't she? Didn't she?!
[ a tiny fist slams against the edge of the sled, lips pulled into a perfect, prissy pout. ]
Don't believe everything she says, okay! Fifty were a perfectly reasonable amount!
no subject
You'd know better than I would. I don't have much experience with doilies.
She didn't mock them or anything [she did], though. Just mentioned. Like how she mentioned Ruby likes weapons and cookies.
i just realized her canon point is pre-doilies BUT WHATEVER i'm sure weiss talks about them 5ever
Really.
[ squinty eyes at you, naoki!! ]
love of doilies is eternal!!
Yeah, really.
[He shrugs a shoulder lightly.] Anyway, you like what you like, right? [And since he knows about one of the (weird) things she loves, he'll share one of his (weird) things to make it more even:] I mean, I like occult stuff and my friends never really got that.
finally, someone understands... ;~;
(—but don't think she won't give you a talking to about gossip, young lady!) ]
Is that why you're covered in tattoos?
[ she tries not to say it in a way that implies she's secretly judging him for it.........
but let's be real, it's kind of her default tone. 8(;; ]
no subject
But then he shakes his head and laughs, flapping his hand.]
No, no. These don't have anything to do with that. Me liking occult stuff is on a a relaxed hobby level, not a 'time to get an occult tattoo' level.
no subject
[ a pause, because that still doesn't really explain the tattoos, which she had admittedly been more curious about than the occult stuff in the first place.
but let's not be rude here, weiss... ]
What do you like about it so much?
no subject
There's so many different things that can be called occult. You got stuff like magic, alchemy, astrology... And all of these methods that people've come up with to try to do more than they could usually. Rituals, trying to predict the future, finding meanings in stuff in nature or coincidental things...
It's like a way of explaining and thinking about things. That's why I like learning about it, 'cause it's so different from other ways of thinking.
