[OPEN] It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

[OPTION A: CERES TECH & AUTO SHOP

Even a stick in the mud like Edgeworth has needs - and quite a few interests, and some things he missed from home. One of the worst features of this colony, as far as he is concerned, is the sore lack of animal companionship. Unless your pets tagged along with you when you were brought here, you either had to be content with a CYbuddy or nothing. While he missed his dog all the way back in his home world and the two dogs he and Genesis owned back in Death City, it was probably for the best that none of them would be brought here and experience the crazy life he has.

Since he much prefers an actual dog, he isn't going to get a CYbuddy. It just wasn't the same having a robot running at your heels and doing time as a search engine.

That won't stop Edgeworth from passing by to look at the CYbuddies available, though. They sure came in a variety of sizes and shapes - or rather, breeds, if one was so inclined to consider them "breeds" instead of "models" or whatever. Seeing a border collie CYbuddy is making him nostalgic...excuse him while he lingers a bit longer at the dogs...]

[OPTION B: ALSO AT CERES TECH & AUTO SHOP

He does have a much better reason to be at this shop than peering at CYbuddies and telling himself over and over that they won't be the same as real pets. Edgeworth needs a better way to get around the colony quickly, so he is looking at motorcycles. Yes, one of the things he learned from CRAUtown was how to drive a motorcycle because Death City was too cramped for cars.

Most likely he is looking at red models that are good for sidecars. Intently, one might add. This is serious business. Either he gets one now, or continues to save up enough credits for something bigger. Admittedly, he misses driving a real car. At least he had some of that when he was briefly returned home a.k.a. had a canon update.]

[OPTION C: CERES GYMNASIUM; morning

Edgeworth hangs out here every morning to train and spar with people. When he's here, he is NOT wearing his complete suit at all, but instead changes into a long-sleeved, collared white shirt - although the burgundy trousers are still there. He exercises and works on what he knows in the realm of martial arts - which is just enough to give him something to use when he's drawn into a fight, certainly not enough to win any awards - and can be seen using this gorgeous blade when it's time to work on his sword skills. They're not that impressive, really, but they're something, since they've kept him alive so many times.

Feel free to bug him; he doesn't mind gathering up more sparring partners and teachers. You may catch him in the middle of a session or just as he's wrapping up and getting ready to haul his butt to work.

BONUS: If you're here REALLY early, between 6 and 7 AM, you might catch him swimming laps in the pool. Dem abs. I'M SORRY MOVING ON - ]

[OPTION D: SHOPPING DISTRICT

One side effect to learning how to use a sword is the sword nerdery that comes with it. Occasionally, Edgeworth stops by weapon shops to look at the display of swords with a careful eye, his own sword carried in a scabbard strapped to his belt. While he likes his trusty saber enough, there may come a time when he'll consider picking up a spare blade.

IT HONESTLY SOMETIMES MAKES HIM FEEL LIKE THE STEEL SAMURAI.

This is the sword nerdery option, you have been warned.]

[Edgeworth probably doesn't notice Leia's yawn as she enters the pool area; and similarly, the sound of his strokes as he does his laps seem faded and far away. When she closes her eyes, it's hard to open them again, though the smell of chlorine does wake her up a bit.

Sleepily, to herself:]

Well, this'll be different than jogging. Athena won't blame me for changing things up a bit.

[Clad in her swimsuit, she lazily drops her towel onto one of the seats, and starts to put up her hair in its usual bun.

Then, she'll notice, eyes widening a bit.]

Oh. Someone's already here.

[After she's ready, she stretches and approaches the pool where Edgeworth is doing his laps--wondering if it's anyone she knows.]

[He doesn't notice her arrive, predictably, but at least he doesn't go so fast (speed isn't his strong point) that he'd be an unrecognizable blur. When he reaches the end, he stops, leaning against the side of the pool and slicking his wet hair back from his face. Squinting, he notices someone approaching him...a girl, in a swimsuit, her hair pulled back in a bun.]

...What is it? [Wait, this is pretty early. Normally there weren't a lot of people this girl's age around the pool at this time, and that was precisely why he was here. He wasn't expecting to strike up a conversation with a young lady while he's wearing nothing but a pair of red swim trunks.]

[journaler]

[...

......Yeah, it's entirely too early for this. She hadn't been expecting to strike up a conversation with anyone but herself, let alone some (wet!!) older guy who's sort of Alvin-like in looks and seems to be more Gaius-like in personality. (#GoodFirstImpressions)

But hey. It's Leia, and she's still as cheerful as she can be. Her smile is sheepish.]

Oh, no... er, it's nothing! [She waves her hands a bit defensively.] I... I thought I might try my hand at a few laps this morning for a change, but I don't mean to bother you or anything.

[prosecutory]

[Oh. The smiling type. At least she's not the smiling AND JUMPING AND SQUEALING type.]

"For a change"? What do you normally do in the morning? [He doesn't feel bothered, at least.]

[journaler]

[Not now. Let's just say she'd definitely fit in at Wright & Co., though, as far as perky assistants go.

Since he doesn't seem bothered by this though, and since he's actually gone out of his way to ask... well, of course she's going to answer.]

Jog with my friend Athena, mostly. Sometimes I'll train here at the gym, but this'll be the first time I use the pool.

[...Other times, she'll sleep in, but he doesn't have to know that.]

[prosecutory]

[+1 for the Wright Anything Agency, then.

Athena? Boy, that girl sure has a lot of friends. Hopefully she didn't just drag Leia into this like she dragged Archer into the food stall business.]

I see...did you join her voluntarily, or did you somehow find yourself caught up in it?

Oh, no, I wanted to do it!

You can never really have enough training partners, and I thought it'd be a good idea to keep my strength up while I'm here. I don't always like the hours, but...

[journaler]

[......She's getting rambly, which is sapping a lot of her energy; so she trails off there, thankfully for Edgeworth, until--]

Is she a friend of yours too, sir?

[prosecutory]

More of an...acquaintance from a later point in time than mine.

[That's the best way he could put it. He hauls himself out from the pool, seating himself on the edge, legs dangling in the water.]

[journaler]

[She joins him, dipping her feet in as if to test the temperature. Predictably, it feels cold, but beyond an initial shiver running up her spine, it doesn't seem to bother her much.]

A later point in time, huh...? Like a friend from the future.

[Friend, acquaintance--it's all the same to her. She knows Ludger and Elle are from her past... so it's not totally strange that things could happen the other way, too.]

That must be interesting.

[prosecutory]

It is, yes. [And he's had so many of them from Death City, and now, here. So many old and not-so-old and entirely new faces.] But sometimes...disconcerting. [When they know things about you that you don't.]

[journaler]

[Leia is quiet at that, not entirely sure what he means; but it sure gets her thinking. Finally, with sympathy (and it sounds like she's speaking from experience):]

It's probably a little weird for her, too.

[Go easy on her, Edgeworth.]

[prosecutory]

I may have been disconcerting to her as well. Even until now, it must still be surreal...seeing a younger version of myself.

[He does go easy on Athena, okay.]

[journaler]

[Leia nods. It'd be like seeing a cry-baby Jude again or something. Or Alvin, back when...

......]

But she bounces back so quickly, she's probably used to it already.

[They're alike in that regard, her and Leia. She won't dwell on the past anymore.]

[prosecutory]

She does seem to be the resilient type. [Inside, and out. Not many girls can flip a security droid. And whatever she was thankful for that Edgeworth had a hand in, it was probably not a small matter.]

[journaler]

[That's putting it mildly.

On that note, though, Leia does wonder. She'd have so many questions for someone from her future.]

And you haven't thought to ask her about your future self?

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth's knowledge of Athena at this point is "mild", anyway.]

No. [A shake of the head. At least he doesn't send water droplets flying everywhere when he does that.] There are enough people here from my future - Miss Cykes' present - who mention my "future self" without me asking.

[journaler]

Yeah... but that's not the same as truly knowing about him.

[She looks thoughtful at this--though it's hardly her place to butt in here. She realizes this even more quickly than she normally does, given Edgeworth's firm answers.]

I guess some things are best left for you to find out.

[prosecutory]

I will truly know about him, someday. [He shrugs.] When I am him, and not just his past.

[journaler]

[Leia gives a nod in return, and leaves it at that for now. He isn't the chattiest of adults, she realizes... not like Rowen, but her first impression of him tells her he's probably just as wise.

The silence is pretty comfortable, but Leia breaks it as she peers over the pool he'd just crawled out of.]

Are you leaving already?

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth shakes his head again.]

Not yet. If you want to start your laps now, feel free to do so. [He gestures to the pool; he must be keeping her from her exercise.]

[journaler]

I will.

[If he were to ask, she wouldn't say he was keeping her at all. She was the one who stopped him, if anything.

She half-turns though, and it looks like she's about to dip in when she glances back towards Edgeworth again.]

Race me sometime, okay? [For fun.]

[prosecutory]

I don't race, but we'll see.

[Your chances are not very high though, Leia. He leans forward slightly as if about to watch what she can do, or about to dive in after she does.]

[journaler]

[It's not a firm "no," and that's the best she can really hope for. She'll take that and drop into the water, kicking off from the wall immediately as she kicks her feet and bullets to the other side.

She has no idea whether Edgeworth's watching or not, but she certainly tries her hardest. One might wonder if she'd ever learned to pace herself... but she resurfaces like it's nothing when she reaches the other side.

She clings to its wall and uses the moment to catch her breath, before turning--and in another instant, she'll be jetting back like a torpedo from the direction she came.]

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth is rather...astonished. He hadn't expected this girl to swim so fast. Not that it matters to him because he's not the competitive type. Or rather, he no longer is. He's watching, but mostly out of curiosity, not to scope out a rival.

Also, yeah no he's not going to challenge her right here and right now.]
