Queen of the Mountain

It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time.

"Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… "

When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.
"Greetings, Cerealians! It's nice of you to join us at last. Are you worried about the power coming back? Oh, I'm sure CERES is working on it now. Rest assured that they have their finest technicians on the job. You won't be without your precious personal computers and robot-pets much longer.

In the meantime, let's play a game shall we! The rules are rather simple:

♥ You see that necklace on your chest? That's a lantern. You're going to want to hold onto that. If you lose it… well, you don't want to know what will happen to you if you do.
♥ Now, for the fun part! Collect the necklaces any way you wish, though we prefer the naughty way. Kill a friend. Kill a foe. Killkillkillkill until the streets are paved with blood.
♥ Whoever collects the most of those lanterns, gets a special surprise! They get to go back home, back to their friends and loved ones and away from CERES' endless lies and trickery. Don't you know it's all a lie? Your worlds weren't destroyed. This is a penal colony, and you've been suckered into the biggest prank of your life. But I'm here to help, of course. Just bring me a garbage bag full of the lanterns, and I'll show you, the lucky winner, the way out."

PHASE I
[ xx:xx ] You're going about your business, wading through the dark, finding supplies. But you're not alone. After the broadcast happens, everything is in full swing. Some masked participants decide to start breaking into shops, classes, apartments, you name it. There's no escaping them. They're on the hunt, they're after you 'cause they're hungry like the woooolf. You can choose to engage them, fight your way out, jump into the game, or head to the sanctuary located in CERES academy. The choice is yours. Be sure to make the right one.
PHASE II
[ xx:xx ] Spiders, spiders everywhere. For those who decided to surrender their lanterns, the first twelve hours of the game are a breeze. Then, come the spiders, hungry critters that will attack and try to catch you in their many webs strewn through the colony. Be sure not to get stuck in one while they chase you.
PHASE III
[ xx:xx ] Feeling weak? Not quite keeping up with the clown-faced gentlemen? Or maybe even your former friends and lovers? Well, there's a solution for that! You'll find another masked man happily pedaling some Pulse for you to take. The temptation is there with the promise of extra strength and a boost of power and speed. He won't hint at any side-effects, but oh, how you'll feel them when they hit. And those trying to dodge that fate, don't put your drink down anywhere or take your eyes off your food. Someone just might slip a little extra to get this game really going.

PHASE IV
[ xx:xx ] It's the last day of the game. You're tired. You're weary. You may have stabbed a roommate or ten. But the lights are gradually returning while the CEO appears as if from nowhere with a public apology on all the billboards. You're welcome to spam your disgust and contempt in his inbox. His explanation for not being around? Quite simple! He was off on an expedition this whole time and wasn't aware of the situation because he gets no reception out in the jungle. See, he was doing it all for the good of the colony and trying to look for more habitable terrain. Isn't that kind of him?

Any further complaints will be forward to his underlings, Elias and Lucius.

BONUS
[ why:o'clock ] You know what's fun? Jumping castles! Someone happened to surreptitiously leave one in CERES' large garden. Do you want to go in and see what's inside? For a limited time only, you can escape the madness and murder to jump to your heart's content. There also might be another clown-faced murderer watching you as you jump. And jump again. He'll just be in the corner. Breathing. Watching.

PHASE I;
[This game? She's over it before those masked guys even show up. She's already played it before, after all. Helped plan it, even. And as experience would show, "getting out" is never as easy as it seems. There's always a catch. It wouldn't be worth it if there wasn't a catch. There is no despair to be had in something that's completely transparent. That's how her little sister would see it, in any case.

Alas, analyzing this situation would have to wait until later. For now, getting rid of these masked participants is her priority. Just as it should be yours, maybe. And so, in the middle of the fray and dolled up in cosmetics, will be one (1) Mukuro Ikusaba. Or, one (1) Junko Enoshima impostor. Both are very valid names for the same person.

Whatever you chose, however, it doesn't change the fact there are a number of unconscious(?) bodies at her feet and a teeny bit of blood on her face. It also doesn't change the fact that, should you catch her in the midst of things, she seems to be bashing skulls and breaking limbs like it's nothing out of the ordinary for here. Catch her after the carnage? And she's checking her assailants just in case they have anything worth looting. This is not something a normal fashion girl should do.

Join in? Gawk? Try to rescue this damsel that needs no rescuing? It's not like she'll care about others do, as long as they're not coming after her.]

PHASE IV;
[And on the last day, her outfit is a mess and so is her face—but, she somehow managed to miraculously get away from this without being injured once. How lucky. It's almost like, you know. She's something other than a model or whatever.

Either way, there's little she can do after the announcement but stare and breathe and let that excuse sink in. Once that's done, she grits her teeth, scrunches her nose, and just... reacts. Explosively. Fictitiously.]

That bastard! Are we supposed to believe that crap?!

[ He's... in the gawking group, having caught the tail end of whatever she did to those poor guys. This place has a troubling amount of girls with frightening, gorilla-like strength. He seems to keep running into them, one after another, though fortunately, none of them have decided to turn that against him... yet. He really doesn't want to end up like one of those guys at the moment, but he also doesn't want to scuttle away like a coward. He's gotten this far on his own, which has got to be worth something.

His footfalls are steady as he approaches her, observing the damage done much more closely. ]

Oi, are you collecting, or are you just fighting them for sport? Just how many did you take out here?

[ He nudges one of the injured with his foot, pushing aside the mask to see if he's even alive. Things look grim from his vantage point, and he ignores the feeling of his stomach slowly turning in on itself. ]

Ease up here... what if after getting all the lanterns, it turns out to be a trick anyway?

[Y...eah... She was honestly hoping nobody would stumble across this scene, but c'est la vie. Compared to a second or two ago, her body language changes entirely when she turns to face him. Is her make-up alright? Does it even matter if it's alright? Probably not. Please excuse her as she tries to bs her way around this.]

O-Of course not! Don't think I'm participating in this freaking game! [Sounding pretty offended, right there. Props to her.] But, ya know, if they come after me first... I can't just stand there and take it. A girl needs to defend herself, no matter what. ["Defending herself" should not be synonymous with "beating these guys within an inch of their life", but what can you do? She was in the zone, man.]

...Anyway, don't just come up to someone and assume stuff. You're lucky I'm not playin', but someone else would've killed you. It's that type of game, after all. [Wise advice from an SHSL Soldier... who should not be acting like an SHSL Soldier right now.

She's not going to provide a number, by the way. She didn't keep count.]

[ The duplicity of this scene is a little jarring, and Rin's not sure what to assume. On one hand, she doesn't look like the kind of person who'd beat up a bunch of guys like that. On the other hand, there aren't exactly any other people around for him to pin it on.

Regardless of who did what here, he's going to keep his distance for the time being. He's not the type of guy to go around beating up girls himself, freaky strength or not. ]

I didn't come here to play, either, but it's like you said- someone tries to beat you up for a necklace, then it's either run or fight at that point.

[ He doesn't particularly like running, but he also doesn't have a weapon to defend himself with. Punching is kind of useless when the other person has a gun.

It really is that type of game. ]

Besides, what am I left to assume when you're pick-pocketing a bunch of bodies like that?

[ She doesn't exactly look like she's taking their deaths particularly hard, which is troubling. ]
