[ Let it be known that one should never promise Yang anything, because she will take the steps needed to ensure certain goals are attained. Like, for example... convincing her small fairy friend to accompany her, still in work uniform, in search of their new breakdancing teacher. Hey, it's a new skill, it's a fun skill, it's a chance to socialize, it could help in a fight, and it'll be amusing to see how many times Yata will get flustered before the day is over.

And this is why she strides right into the gym, Cynbel by the hand, and cupping the other around her mouth. ]

[Oh, boy, attention on his inadequacies. Fun times. He shakes his head, taking a slight step back and holding his hands behind himself to look as unassuming as possible.]

I don't think I'm the slightest bit close to reaching the level the two of you are at! Wouldn't I be slowing you down?

[rollin]

[ Yang sounds like she's been through some shit... but Cynbel! Despite all the sass he's given him, Yata will admit that he deserved it. A little. Dealing with Cynbel and teaching Cynbel are two different things. He can tell his new friend needs some encouragement. ]

You know, being smaller means you got less weight to carry around. Can you stand on your head?

[flaredo]

[ Let's not talk about how she almost got mauled by monsters as a kid-- but she frowns a bit at Cynbel, nodding as Yata continues. ]

My friends don't ever hold me down-- so don't give up just yet, okay? You've got this!

[ headstands or bust!! ]

[The encouragement surprised him a bit, enough to rethink giving up so quickly.]

Standing on my head...? Are they so similar?

[He considers this for a moment, before he moves away to give himself a little space and stares intently at the ground.]

I can that much, with a little room.

[Rather than just going into a straight headstand, he rolls his weight forward into a cartwheel, which he lets go for one full spin before stopping upside down. One headstand, made to order!]

[rollin]

[ The encouragement worked, and he's cooperating! Yata grins. ]

Nice. Okay, so [ He rolls into a headstand, too. ] first, you're gonna want to spread your legs apart, right? And keep your hands in front of you—Yang, you do it, too—then you gotta wind your legs... and push the ground.

[ To show them how it's done, Yata gives a demonstration. ]

[ Yang whistles low, under her breath, impressed. Cynbel's a little acrobat, isn't he? ]

Wait, so hold on-- [ and she'll follow their lead, crinkling her nose as she adjusts to the upside-down life. ]

Do I swing first with my legs or push with my arms?

[changeably]

[He's got a sassy shell and a core of pure marshmallow for people being to him, so that really was all it took to get him back on board. Besides, he's had enough practice living 50% of his free time back home in trees, so he has to get some exercise in Cerealia somehow.

Still, holding up this pose for long isn't easy, and watching Yata try to teach them is kind of dizzying. He makes a confused face, trying to puzzle it out from upside-down.]

It's with your legs first, isn't it? If you move your arms first, I rather think you'll fall over.

[rollin]

[ He ends his demonstration in a few spins and rolls back into a crouch. ]

Cyn's right. Don't worry if you don't get it right the first time. I don't want you to get hurt...

[ Don't say that like a taunt, Yata. ]

I'd believe that if you didn't say it with a smirk...

[ But she'll experimentally shift her legs to give it a try.

Protip: She'll fail. ]

["Cyn"? When did Yata get so friendly? He's distracted by that and making a confused face at Yata that he completely misses what's going on until Yang falls over again.]

You shouldn't encourage her into hurting herself, you know.

[You are both terrible, shame on you, etcetc.]

[ Cyn is one less syllable to say! When he sees Yang fail, Yata whistles and mumbles something like, "So there's stuff she can't do..." before addressing Cynbel. ]

It's fine, it's fine! Yang is like, a superhero or something.

[ she's already sitting up and rubbing an elbow with a grimace. ]

What sort of weird things are you saying about me now?

[Nicknames are cute, but Cynbel was not expecting to get one. It's kind of nice, actually, but there's too much going on right now to appreciate it.]

An awesome person who uses their powers for good!

[ And obviously she isn't hurt because she's hella strong, so he's not too concerned. ]

Yep, I'm fine. [ she'll shake out her hair and plant her hands on the ground again. ] My timing was seriously off on that one, though...

[changeably]

[Oh, okay, a hero with great abilities. He understands that much, and it definitely applies to Yang, but he's starting to lose focus after staying upside down so long.]

Perhaps I'll use mine to do this right the first time, then!

[Aaaaand off he goes! It works fine for a single rotation, but he overbalances quickly and falls forward. It's progress, at least?]

[rollin]

[ It's definitely not a failure in his eyes. He's grinning. ]

Yeah... we gotta work on that. But it's something! Hehe, we just gotta work on your balance and your timing. You know, breakdancing's easier to do with a beanie.

[ Oh no. ]

[ well, she sure said that flatly, as she's trying another round. Like Cynbel, she'll manage a rotation, maybe the half of another one, and then she's down again. ]

[Sorry, Yata, but he's on Yang's side for this one. It's a fashion thing, and he just gives Yata a scandalized look.]

Those are terrible-looking hats!

[But they're trying to learn something right now, so he starts to move again. Instead of going into the headstand immediately, he cartwheels again, trying to use the momentum to make his spinning last longer when he gets there. It's steadier than last time, but the speed gets away from him, and he falls again.]

This is much more difficult than it looks.

[rollin]

[ The rejection hits him hard, as if someone stabbed a dagger through his heart... ]

Y-yeah, it's kinda hard. You guys wanna see it again? Or we can do it together.

[flaredo]

[ Sorry, Yata, beanies aren't for everyone. ]

Let's give it a shot together. Maybe I can figure out what I'm doing wrong from there.

I think we ought to try again! It seems like something you must practice to learn properly.
