[OPEN] Ready or not, here I come.
Who: Yuya & YOU
When: BACKDATED TO 2/4, when Yuya gets back from his canon update
Where: Research District
What: Yuya's back and has a hard time keeping his berserk mode in check.
Rating: Violence and a falling building included!
A: Return & Possession
[It's a repeat of his first arrival: the grueling ViViD game of his world torn apart and the whip-lash tone of the powerpoint right afterwards. Not that he clearly remembers because his mind is locked up in his own thoughts but not his own memories. Burning buildings, everyone screaming, the tell-tale flashes of purple lights, laughing...
Yuzu...There's still a chance, right? No, no. Not in this place. Not right now.
He's not strong enough to begin with, but now he's even more powerless.
Every word presented to him is blocked out, and Yuya rises when it's over, feeling numb and jittery. He allows himself to be escorted out of the building, and continues onward down a random street. Yuya should recognize where he is, should know automatically how to navigate to his home away from home, but there's no reaction. Dark thoughts cloud his mind: his failures and his losses, screams and laughter and fire--
How kind of CERES to release a ticking time bomb onto the streets. Shadows like flames build up in his wake.]
Ghhhhh-! [Yuya's made it a ways away before his knees buckle and his hands dart up to clutch his head. It's all too much, and the shadows flicker at his feet, lick at his legs before flowing freely all around him like a dark aura. Mouth gaping and eyes wide open in a pained yet horrified expression, a pained scream is ripped from him as something from the deepest part of his very existence catches him. It was invited by the commotion of thoughts swelling inside of him, anger and despair mixed finely into each other, and Yuya......well, he's in no state to stop it now. He's not strong enough. But with Yuto, together they can...
A second before the darkness takes him, flaring up in his eyes with a red unearthly light, Yuya feels so alone. He remembers that Yuto isn't there.
The red blocks out his pupils, and a bright white light pushes forth at the center, swirling like a vortex. Yuya stands then, back straightening, and the duel disk on his arm activates. Only one card is pulled from the device and activated, and Yuya announces the monster's arrival in a deep tone:]
Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon.
[The dark dragon materializes with a rumbling hiss that builds into a roar as it stretches and its back extensions (where its wings should be) open and extend, forming blades of light.
Anyone around to witness the event will feel the rolling shockwaves emitting from it.]
B: Break It Down
[The first yells and initial commotion cause the police androids to appear. It's likely to be expected given that he's in the research district, of all places. But whatever is possessing Yuya isn't about to come quietly. He continues walking. (To where, though, is a good question. For what purpose, another.) And although Yuya shows no signs of acknowledging the robots as they approach, Odd-Eyes Rebellion turns toward the officers that aim to surround and intercept its master, letting out a warning hiss. There's orders to 'cease and desist', and when they move to apprehend him, the dragon knocks a few over with the swing of its tail and rushes the next.
It's a little too much.
The dragon slams two androids into the nearest building, powering through the wall while its blades slice through the rest as it goes. The structure's weakened too quickly, and with more shouts joining an unsettling creak, the building begins to lean sideways and collapse. Dust and rumble explode into the air. A shocked silence follows, hanging only for a few seconds before distressed screams interrupt it.
The only reason Yuya manages to stand up in the aftermath, wipe the dirt calmly from his shoulders, and keep walking is because the dragon returned to shield him. It too, rises again and follows.
Feel free to try to stop Yuya or try to bring him back to his senses. Reinforcements will be arriving on scene soon. Hide him or hand him over?]
ENDGAME: Closed to Yuzu
[He's made it past all the distractions and obstacles, had Odd-Eyes Rebellion plow through the robots trying to arrest him, and had several duels along the way. Still, Yuya walks looking slightly worn down and roughed up, but still moving nonetheless. It's unlikely that CERES would stop looking for him, given all the damage he's caused.
But ignoring the potential new wave of adversaries, Yuya as slowly picked up more pieces to the puzzle as time has passed. Deep down, he remembers this strange world and the friends he made. Everyone who had called his name, the ones he looked towards as obstacles in his way, slowly added to this insight despite the lack of control over himself and awareness of his actions, like shining lights through murky water.]

he's just left the library when he hears a scream, and he's not going to ignore that. he starts heading towards the noise, his scarf flapping in the wind. he comes around the corner just in time to see
one of his babiesYuya looking like he's in pain]Yuya!
[he calls out to him, but then the dragon appears. what is going on?]
no subject
It's only when he's a few steps away from his mentor that he pauses, glances at him as if he were a measly obstacle (and his dragon hovers close just in case), then looks to the sky and squints at the towering buildings. Searching for someone, something, but still completely lost. Not that it matters since he'll knock down anything that gets in his way. Yet...he knows this place. At the very least, there's pictures in his mind starting to knit together into a map. Not that he knows where exactly it's leading him, but Yuya turns away from England to move onto a neighboring street.]
no subject
[what the heck was that? Yuya didn't even look like he recognized him. actually, he looked pretty angry. England has never seen such a scowl on Yuya's face. and that Dragon... why is it out?]
Yuya! You have to put your summon away! You're causing a scene. [England is nervous. something's obviously happened to the boy. he's not in his right mind. he moves to touch his shoulder, to try to bring him back to reality]
no subject
The white light in his eyes looks over England again, scanning, reassessing. The dark aura around him doesn't diminish either. But somewhere, a small part of Yuya recognizes him as a familiar face, just like with the rising images of the city. However, it makes no difference in his demeanor-- he's too consumed.]
no subject
Yuya, please calm down. Are you all right? Did CERES do something to you? [does Yuya even know who is talking to him right now? perhaps his code was messed with!]
no subject
CERES...Flamines...Academia... [All unforgivable in their own way. Academia first for destroying Heartland and taking away his friends, Flamines for supposedly destroying everything else, and CERES for putting him through that hellish game (and all the other things he can't quite remember right now).]
Stay out of my way.
no subject
I will not stay out of your way! You need to call back your summon or the police will come after you!
no subject
At least it doesn't shooting a beam from its mouth too. It's supposed to be threatening, with sharp teeth and equally sharp blades that frame its jaw, in order to make the man back off. And this is Yuya's current way of playing nice.]I said out of my way.
no subject
he looks around the dragon's face, calling out to his friend again]
And I said no! Wake up, Yuya!
no subject
Fine.
[It's then that Odd-Eyes Rebellion's arm surges forward to grab England by the waist with its pincer like hand.]
no subject
he doesn't know what to do! Yuya's going to get into trouble. this isn't how he normally acts]
no subject
no subject
Yuya! ...Dammit... [what happened to him?]
no subject
Hey, Yuya!
no subject
Yuya turns, expecting the CEO, but finding someone else completely. A stranger? No, there's a cloudy memory that he can't make out completely and doesn't really care too much to delve into it. He doesn't continue on his way, instead opting to stay a moment to inspect the other teen.]
...?
no subject
Yuya, what's going on?
[Amid his demand for an explanation, he notices that Yuya's eyes look peculiar. He tenses, unsure as to what that unusual air about them means.]
Have you seen Yuto?
no subject
Yu...to...Yuto... [His face shifts from a distant inquisitiveness to outright malice that bares itself in a smirk. Was that what he was looking for? The missing soul that should be consumed as well or the person himself?]
...He'll come to me. [They will be drawn together again and the dragons will resonate.]
no subject
Hey, what's the matter?
[His gaze darts over to the destruction around them before it settles on Yuya's duel disk. Whatever the reason, it can't justify this scale of violence and the consequences that'll come of it. Can Yuya even be reasoned with like this?]
Recall your dragon now. You'll get arrested!
no subject
As for actually reasoning with Yuya, that's definitely going to be a challenge, especially when he seems to be murmuring to himself--]
Ceres...Flamines...Academia..I won't forgive them.
no subject
IV grits his teeth when Odd-Eyes Rebellion delivers its hostile reaction. He brings his shoulders back, but doesn't retreat any farther than that as he darts his attention back to Yuya.]
Listen, Yuya! There's no Academia here, and nobody's siding with CERES or the Flamines. All you're doing is creating a mess and drawing unnecessary attention. Whatever it is you're trying to do, let it go.
no subject
...? [For a second, Yuya actually seems to consider what IV says. But the message gets lost halfway through processing, mixed up in the indignation of being dragged away from his home and forced through a simulation of the end of the world. His world, Yuto's home, too much screaming. He just wants Yuzu back, wants everything to be normal, but Academia has to pay too.]
But then... [There's just way too much noise, and the thought of even figuring out the situation is immediately rejected.]
Shut up, shut up! [Yuya holds his head like he's having a terrible headache, but he still manages to glare back at IV.]
no subject
Yuya! Calm down!
b
But the dragon shields Yuya, yet the relief Yuto feels dies out almost immediately, fear once again showing in his eyes. He can almost see himself in Yuya now, as a terrible memory flashes through his mind. A memory of when Yuto was possessed by something that made him wish for nothing but destruction.
If Yuya hadn't saved him back then--
Is the same thing happening to Yuya now? But why? And what is that dragon? No, he doesn't have time for this. Yuto clenches his fist, fear quickly surpassed by determination. He has to save Yuya!]
Yuya!
[He calls out running up to him, standing in his way.]
Yuya! Listen to me!
no subject
[Oh, he's listening alright. He's overly aware of his twin's presence before they can even see each other. The dragons know too, and the extra deck compartment glows where Odd-Eyes and the duplicate of Dark Rebellion rest. Odd-Eyes Rebellion resonates as well, letting out a hiss as its master turns towards Yuto.
His eyes are wide as he takes in the sight of the dragon user, but his face splits into a leering grin.]
...You're all the way over there. [Which shouldn't be the case. Yuto should exist within him. No matter, though. Yuya lifts his arm to pull off Odd-Eyes Rebellion from the holographic board and returns it to the extra deck. The dragon disappears in turn.]
Duel me!
no subject
But as he observes Yuya he almost backs away. Seeing that kind of expression on his twin's face is so startling and so very wrong... No, every single thing is wrong here and Yuto for second wishes that this is some kind of nightmare or one of CERES tricks, because Yuya was gone...
But he knows this is Yuya. Yuto wouldn't be in this much pain if it was a trick.
Yet Yuya's words don't make sense either. Where did he think Yuto was supposed to be?]
I won't... [It hurts.] I won't duel you! [I don't want to hurt you.] Yuya, this isn't like you. It's not you. [Because you're just like me, right? You don't want to hurt anyone either. You don't want to fight.
There has to be a way to make Yuya snap out of it. Just like back then. Just like Yuto himself returned to normal.]
You wouldn't hurt anyone. You wouldn't wish for destruction.
[And Yuto continues talking, making sure that his voice doesn't waver even a bit.]
no subject
However, those words ring through him and drop the grin from his face. He's held onto similar ones so ferociously after Yuto's disappearance, convinced him that his twin wasn't the source of the darkness that now holds him, that they could be strong together and keep from being dragged down. Dueling should be used to bring happiness rather than hurting others. Not like Heartland (with its fire, screams, and taunting laughter), not like the sacrifices made during the tournament...
But the memories and emotions are so strong, he can barely look past them to see himself now. And on his own, how is he supposed to beat back the darkness?]
Destruction...eradication... [Familiar words, and the dragons continue to call out to each other. He hasn't truly been the one making himself move, nor is he responsible for the grin's return as he approaches Yuto.] It's not complete without you!
[There's intent to goad and corner Yuto into a duel as he uses the holographic board of his duel disk to slash at his twin.] I'll take you back.
no subject
But before he can say something Yuya slashes at him. It takes Yuto by surprise, yet he somehow manages to react fast enough to avoid getting hit. And he tries to grab Yuya's hand, in order to stop him from doing that again.]
Yuya, stop it! I won't duel you! [He sounds desperate now.] And what do you mean by "taking me back"? I don't understand.
[Maybe if he knows, maybe if he understands he will be able to bring Yuya back?]
/takes some creative liberties
You--! You were supposed to be with me! [His free hand clutches his chest, and there's a little more of Yuya actually shining through in this brief moment than whatever is puppeteering him.] Heartland burns, and you left me with all these memories. How am I supposed to keep the darkness away when you're not with me?! How-?!
[His voice reaches a high pitch before his face freezes, slackening a little before the trace is snuffed out. The maliciousness is back full.]
It doesn't matter. You'll have to fight back eventually. [Otherwise he's just going to keep lashing out at him.]
no subject
I'm here, Yuya. I'm here. I won't leave you. I am with you now.
[He doesn't know if this is what Yuya means. He doesn't know what memories Yuya is talking about or what Heartland has to do with it either. He continues even when the darkness takes hold of Yuya again.]
I don't want to fight you... and don't you remember? We were supposed to duel, but not like this.
[Yuya promised to duel him, but their duel was supposed to be fun. If they duel now, they will both only get hurt.]
Yuya, please...
[Please, come back.]
no subject
Yuya's eyes widen, clearly hesitating for a moment as he lifts up his free hand to the his chest. There's a pained look as his heart aches, but suddenly something like instinct kicks in:
He needs to get away right now. The person before him is a threat. He needs to destroy, burn, eradicate--]
A-aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!! [In a desperate attempt to get away, Yuya goes for his duel disk and slaps down a card. It's unclear whether he fumbled and accidentally pulled out Dark Rebellion or that the dragon itself willed it to be summoned in recognizing its former master, but it appears at Yuya's side nonetheless. It calls out once, the sound ringing hollow before it whips its tail at Yuto to knock him out for Yuya's release.]
no subject
But then something completely unexpected happens. Yuto stares, eyes wide when he sees that Yuya has called Dark Rebellion.]
How...?
[It's impossible. Dark Rebellion is with Yuto now, so how in the world Yuya summoned it? But Yuto has no time to think about it more as the dragon, to his surprise, whips its tail at him. The impact throws him away from Yuya and makes him collide painfully with the ground.
Wincing from pain, Yuto slowly tires to push himself up.]
no subject
The moment she steps out of the train station and into the district, she knows she picked a bad day to come.]
What is...
[She looks down. Her feet are unsteady, and she wobbles despite standing still, shocked--but she can't stay that way forever. She makes a run for it, into the heart of the action like a reporter should.
Seeing him as someone not quite himself, full of despair and hopelessness, she freezes.]
Yuya...?!
[The name nearly dies on her lips. Did she remember it right?]
H-Hey! Yuya, it's me! Remember?
[Leia chases after him when he fails to acknowledge her presence. She can hear those police androids in the distance already, which isn't good... or maybe it is. She gets the feeling she's in over her head, but she has to do something, and there's no time to call for back-up.
What happened to him...?]
no subject
For someone who's come from a world where dueling takes presidence over all, especially in terms of capturing enemies, Yuya's adapted to the change of pace. Turning away from Leia, he points to the robot:]
Eliminate.
[It's a command that the dragon executes immediately by spiking the android in the chest with the blades that line and extend from its jaw. The machine is then launched up and caught mid-air between a set of sharp teeth with a crunch.]
no subject
(In a group, mind you, but details.)
When they're interrupted by the first android, she lets her guard down to watch how he reacts, since she can't be sure what it'll do. She shields her face when Odd-Eyes attacks it, and the rumbling in its wake threatens to knock her off her feet again.
That won't help matters.]
Wait--
[She reaches out her hand, but just like that, it's gone. Smithereens. Just a pile of metal. She sees more of the police bots closing in, and turns to face them--all of them--hands outstretched. She wants a chance--though it seems unlikely that either side will give her one.]
Stop!
no subject
Miss, that boy is now a dangerous criminal. All citizens should evacuate the immediate vicinity for their safety.
[Yuya's not waiting much longer to make his move though, and suddenly Odd-Eyes Rebellion is directing its gaze towards her before is snaps. It goes for anything-- her staff, her arm, even her torso if it can. Something for it to bite into and use to throw her to the side because right now she's just an obstacle in its way.]
no subject
[...She doesn't know how to finish her own sentence. As she looks around, she feels the weight of the androids' attention and her knees begin to weaken, words gone. It leaves an easy opening for Odd-Eyes, who gets her by the staff as she's flung out of the way and into the hard rubble.
She screeches, yelping as she slams into it and lies still for a while as she recovers.
After a moment, she'll stir and open one eye to see what's happening. She can't tell if it's been seconds, minutes, or hours...]
Nn--nngh... [She groans, but it doesn't look like she's given up.]
B
With wide eyes he watches the dust clear on the scene, and he runs forward in the few moments he has; the shockwaves did not blow him back after all, and he fully intends to help his friend in any way he can.
He knows what 'this' is--or at least...he thinks he does.] YUUYA! [he calls, shouting himself hoarse over the air as he charges. He has his disk ready if he needs it, but for now he aims for Yuuya and only him, ready to pin him down and haul him off if need be, just like last time.]
YUUYA--!!
no subject
Odd-Eyes Rebellion meets Gon in the middle to guard Yuya, although it's thanks to some recognition that the dark dragon doesn't end up hurling him into a wall like it did with the androids. Wouldn't want to knock down another wall, would we?
Yuya stares down at his best friend from atop a pile of rumble, his eyes set on the set duel disk on his arm rather than Gongenzaka's face.]
no subject
He has to.] Yuuya! [He shouts out, stopped by the appearance of the dragon.] It's me! Gongenzaka-!
Open your eyes, Yuuya-! Look at where you are..!
no subject
Is it really that easy?]
It doesn't matter.
[The duel disk isn't being shut down, and the dark aura around him doesn't fade.] Duel me.
no subject
And then Yuuya speaks, and his eyes widen.] D-Duel--!?
[He prepares to protest--but without looking around he can see how that will end. And so with a grave nod, he strengthens his footing, bringing his duel arm forward with a nod.] ...Very well.
[The disk turns on.] And through this duel, I, the man Gongenzaka, will make sure that you come to your senses..!
no subject
Using the Scale 6 Performapal Lizardraw and the Scale 8 Timegazer Magician, I set the Pendulum Scale! [As soon as the cards are set down, Yuya's duel disk lights up as the monsters begin to rise into the sky. The familiar summoning circle appears above his head too with the pendulum swaying in turn, but nothing about the darkness that Yuya carries changes. Not one smile or a drop of friendliness.]
With this, I am able to simultaneously summon level 7 summons. [And who else would it be other than--]
Sway, Pendulum of my soul! Draw an arc of light across the ether.
[The vortex opens, spilling forth a bright orange light.] Come forth, my monster servant!
[Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon let's out a roar as it enters the field and stands in attack mode. Both master and monster stare back at Gongenzaka. It's not a usual set-up for Yuya, but then again the red glow in his eyes is far more calculating.]
Turn end.
endgame!
But then she caught a glimpse of him, and lost it immediately as he continued his rampage at a speed she could not keep up with... still, the trail of destruction he left was not especially subtle, so here she is in its wake - standing on Bloom Diva's floating floral stage, just in case she needs to reflect shout some sense into him. For now, though, she'll just shout normally.]
Stop! Don't you dare walk away from me again, Yuya!
[She barks orders as though his crazy huge dragon doesn't phase her. In truth, she's terrified. She doesn't understand what's making him act this way, or if this is even the real Yuya at all - it could be a trick, like what they pulled with their dads at Christmas, but she doesn't care if it is. All she wants is to see Yuya again. But not like this... whatever this is.]
\o/
...Or so he thought.
The moment both Yuya and Odd-Eyes Rebellion turn to face Yuzu, it's like something was thrown into the gears of his head, his movement begins to stutter as his gaze locks on her. She's here, right in front of him. Not in another dimension, not kidnapped by Academia. Her whole self, not a card.]
...Yuzu... [There's a flood of relief that eases the chaotic mess inside of him and begins to snuff out the darkness. But it's not so simple as to be cured instantly by her arrival. A flicker of pain twists his expression before he doubles over with his hands clutching his head. What starts as groan turns into a frenzy of agonized screaming while Yuya shakes his head. It's like he's being torn apart-- the darkness doesn't want to leave.]
