Who: Hak, Tieria, Athena, Vietnam, Celty, Natalia.
When: OOC: 7/30. IC: 2/12.
Where: Around Cerealia, especially in the street
What: After being MIA for several weeks, Hak's finally back, but not in the way you'd probably expected him to be. Whoops.
Rating/Warning: n/a!
[ When Hak said that he would find his friends, he meant it.
Dead serious, actually. And in the few weeks that he'd been missing, he didn't, but he does come out of the research center with some new, valuable information that hasn't been uncovered yet--last time he checked, anyway. It took him a while to get to the inner workings of the research center, but he's here.
He sneaks into one of the offices and begins to shuffle through some of the loose leaf paperwork on top of the desk inside. His eyes narrow as they scan over its contents, trying to absorb the information; he uses his CereVice to snap some quick photos of the paperwork before stuffing it back into his pocket.
It's once he starts to snoop inside of the computer that alarms begin to sound, and the noise of mechanical legs scurrying towards the office means that Hak needs to get the fuck out.
He's running now, dodging all of the robots' attempts to jump at him--but there are so many and he's running down flights of stairs. They're fast. His staff's in one of the closets downstairs, and that's where he's heading before running to the exit.
Once he's on solid ground, he pulls out his CereVice. ]

CELTY: BREAK HAK OUT.
He's still running to the exit, however. This is taking quite a bit of effort because they just don't stop coming, what the heck. Celty where you at girl. ]

she pulls up at the front a few minutes later, tapping out a quick reply: ]
I'm downstairs now.
Do you need me to come inside?
no subject
give me a sefajslkdc
[ Whoops. Hak may or may not be getting mauled by another hoard of robots; it takes him a few minutes to get them off of him, breaking some of them and leaving their dismantled bodies on the ground, before he makes a beeline for the entrance and searches for that weird helmet he remembers seeing--
--ah. Yellow cat ears. There she is. ]
'Sup?

she sort of just Looks at him for his greeting before tossing him a black helmet and making room for him on the seat. once he settles in, she puts shooter back in gear, turning on the text to voice function on her device. ]
Close your eyes. Don't open them until I tell you to.
[ the last thing she wants is CERES tracking them through hak's ocular implants, at least it'll be harder for them to capture him this way. once he does so, she'll take off, heading towards the shopping district. a bigger crowd would make it easier for them to hide in. ]
no subject
[ The ocular implants. Right. Hak settles his staff on his lap first, securing it, before he closes his eyes upon command. He's holding on to Celty's shoulders, though his arms soon go around her waist once she gets the thing started. The sound of the robots chasing him grows more distant the longer she rides on for. ]
Where're we going?
sorry for the delay!
[ it's all she says for now, mostly because she doesn't have much of a solid plan aside from trying to put as much distance as possible between them and the research center. she's reluctant to bring him to the housing area just yet, opting to take as much detours as she can before slowing down once they reach the back alleys of the shopping area, tucked behind a group of restaurants.
she pulls up next to a large dumpster, checking their surroundings before turning back to hak. ]
I think we should be fine here. We'll wait a bit before I take you home, just in case.
GROUP MEETING.
It's a good thing he's gotten some of the documents on his CereVice however; all that information wouldn't have been easy to keep in his head alone. Some of it, sure, but everything? Nah.
It's really unlike him to suddenly call people out like this, but he's got to find a way to get back into the Research Center--or someone has to. He's going to need some assistance, whether he likes it or not. And once they've all gathered, Hak takes out his CereVice and reads through some of the information. ]
They're planning more than they're letting on.
[ He shows them the photos of the documents he'd taken. The documents deal with the general theme that energy levels and profits are linked together, making Cerealia a "huge success". The "success" part is vague, however, and it doesn't say exactly what it is. ]
Besides this, there's another file on the computers. It's titled "QUEEN". I couldn't get anything more than that, because the alarms went off as soon as I'd touched it.

Queen? Maybe it has something to do with the new CEO?

[ While his scowl isn't anything unusual, the look in his eyes says otherwise as he looks towards her. ]
I lost the job.

[ no she can't, but she's trying to relate, anyway. ]
Are you okay, though? I mean, I know you're strong and all, but even Goliath got put down.
no subject
I'm fine. Barely a scratch.
[ Okay, well, maybe there are a few scratches on his arms and legs and hands...but it's nothing major at all. These are small cuts and bruises that'll go away in due time, and for Hak? This is elementary. He's dealt with far worse. ]

If you say so.
What do you plan on doing with what you've found out so far?

Hak.
[Looks him right in the eye.]
Were you infiltrating that place all alone, and then you had to run for it?
hello young whippersnapper
[ He shakes his head. ]
It would have been too suspicious.
my auntie...
[She tries to straighten up.] It is a good thing none of your efforts were in vain.
What happened? What would you like us to do for you now?
yes my niece
[ He shakes his head before looking up at her, eyes tired but the gears in his brain are still turning. ]
There's no way I can get back into the research center. You guys can try if you want, but otherwise, we're probably going to need to take a different route to find out more.

So when he asked Hak to snoop around CERES, he's prepared to help bust him out or something but since the guy hasn't asked for help, Tieria has assumed he's fine. Well, he's still in one piece.
Somehow, he's not all surprised by the information Hak found. There's nothing about how CERES is operating that conform with any kind of emergency protocol at all. Having evidence in their hands is great but now they have something bigger to figure out. ]
Energy business... what does this have anything with what they are making us do? There's almost no correlation between data extractions and energy farming.
[ As for the QUEEN file... ]
Would you be able to get to the same computer the file is stored in again?
why hello there
Hak's fine with taking things on by himself, too. It's less troublesome with less people (his group's a handful), and he'd had his own agenda in mind while doing so that went beyond upholding his end of the bargain with Tieria.
Now that he's uncovered some information, however, he knows he can't do this alone. Hak's pretty skilled at a lot of things, but technology? Not one of them. It's a good thing that Tieria's offered to help him out, despite them butting heads. ]
I couldn't find anything about what's been happening with us. Only this.
[ He'd like to know the answer to that, also. ]
No. They fired me on the spot, and I'll most likely be on close surveillance if I go anywhere near the Research Center.
will there be some kind of destruction this time too?
[ Although there's no correlation between the information at this point, Tieria knows better than to dismiss them. There has been too many explainable happenstance that in this colony that at this point, it's a lot more logical to assume they're interrelated than not.
But Hak being booted out from the facility is a setback, one that's too soon with so much more to dig for. ]
Well, that's inconvenient. [ If Hak can get back onto the same computer, Tieria could, theoretically, get him to flash the computer so he could remote hack it. But without someone inside, that's not possible. ] Do you remember which drive was the file stored in?
when is there NOT any destruction...hue
"Drive?"
[ ...In other words, nope. ]
All I know is that as soon as I tried to open the file, it locked me out and the alarms went off. That's it. The computer was in [ ROOM NUMBER ].
welp... somebody pay for the repair, not Tieria
Body scan for all.
So when the meeting is more or less done, he stands up to address everyone in the house. If Hak trust them, he'll levy some for them. ]
I'm sure most of us are aware that there's an implant in us that allows CERES to track our activities. I've tried scanning myself for it but the scan turns up negative no matter how many attempts I made. Haro is certainly not faulty. [ At this point, he gestures to the round pink robot that has all the while remained in incognito mode to record the meeting, boots up at the mention of it's name, flapping it's mechanical ears in greeting. ] Hello! Hello!
If it's fine with you, I'll like to have everyone present scanned. I'll like to confirm that this isn't a technological fallacy but a possible tampering of our base code that hinder the discovery of the implant.
[ Because how else does he explain why the implant refuse to show up in scans, not just his but others who has build similar devices to do the same. ]
scan me all u want bb
[ No questions asked. Not like Hak knows about all of this stuff, anyway...but he trusts Tieria enough to know that this is probably a good idea. They did make a deal, after all, and the guy knows what he's doing.
Hak raises an eyebrow at Haro (that thing again?), but otherwise puts up no resistance against the body scan. ]
that sounds so wrong man
Haro, activate full body scan.
[ The Haro springs to action, scanning Hak much like how it did when Hak saw it scanning buildings back when Hak first met Tieria. Immediately right after, the Haro display a hologram visual of Hak's body, marking his gender, species, blood pressure, heart rate, sustained internal injuries but most important detail, the ocular implant, wasn't marked anywhere on him. ]
Scan negative. No implant found. [ Haro reports. ]
... [ The result isn't unexpected... but looking at Hak's body scan result, he raises a curios brow. ] What did you do, wrestles monsters?
only if u want it to be. he h
[ And that's an over exaggeration, but there really were a lot of them. So yes, he's gonna have some bruises and cuts here and there, but it looks like that thing still can't detect the ocular implant.
Ceres is still watching. ]
Can you figure out a way to turn it off or something?
Ha ha ha ha!
I have to be able to find the implant to even try attempting that. [ Which goes without saying, not being able to detect it means he can't do anything. ]
This is infuriating... [ Crossing his arms in front of his chest, he frowns. ]
there's an appropriate video for this somewhere
LMAO why am I not surprised?!
