[ There's a long silence before Mary's shoulders slump. Both him and Seto, Nesso-- accepting her so easily. ]

How can you be so nice...?

[lionly]

I believe I should be saying that to you. You're a wonderfully kind girl, Mary.

[He squeezes her hand... and then he moves to stand once more, looking down at her with a gentle look.] In comparison, I'm not that nice at all, you know?

[immobileyes]

[ In response, she doesn't look convinced at all. ]

I think you're the nicest.

[lionly]

Are we about to get into an argument over who's the nicest?

[Elza chuckles and teases, giving her a smile.]

[immobileyes]

[ That makes her smile in response, shaking her head. ]

That'd just be silly.

[lionly]

Terribly. So, let's look around instead. We still have things to pick up, don't we?

[And more things he needs to be educated on!!]

[immobileyes]

Yes! But not a vacuum cleaner.

[ That's decided. ]

[lionly]

But not a vacuum cleaner. So, what do you think we should get?

[His tail swishes leisurely behind him as they go...]

Mm, well... I don't know how well you understand washers and dryers yet... but maybe an iron and an ironing board?

[ did they have irons in his time??? ]

[lionly]

[Irons he knows! He perks up slightly, one ear twitching lightly.]

That's a good idea. Do you know how to use it? I know what that is, but... Hmm. I never did a lot of ironing. And perhaps now would be good to learn, so I'm not leaving everything to you or Zara.

[immobileyes]

Mm! I used to help iron clothes, you just have to careful with the steam... but I could teach you.

[lionly]

I would be in your debt, my lady. [He ducks a playful bow.]

I'd offer to teach you something in return, but... My skills are swordfighting, patrols, that kind of thing.

[immobileyes]

I don't think I'd be any good with a sword...

[lionly]

I think that I'd be pretty worried about you with a sword, to be honest...

[immobileyes]

I wouldn't drop it!

[lionly]

It's not only dropping I'd be worried about.

--perhaps something smaller, if you ever needed a weapon. Like a knife, or a dagger. [But, that said,] Me and Nesso are around so you don't have to worry about danger, though.

[immobileyes]

Because you're my knights? [ best parents. ]

[lionly]

That we are, my lady. [He'll duck another little bow, grinning.

He means it, though. Being a knight... it's his life and his duty, and that protection extends to anyone around him who may be in danger, at any time. That's what it means, doesn't it? Now those knights under those princes, certainly some have been corrupted, or not given some knowledge, but... at least he and his company, Nesso's company, uphold it.]

[immobileyes]

[ And she grins back at him, curtsying a little bit. She knows all too well that she isn't a princess, isn't the princess they're used to protecting, but she's grateful for them. For Elza, and his mothering, and Nesso, and how she imagines a big brother would act. Zara, too. ]

But I'll do something for you, too... somehow. One day!

[lionly]

Aren't you doing something for me right now?

[He gestures with a light hand around them.] You're teaching me about a lot of things today.

[immobileyes]

Is that really such a big thing?

[lionly]

Of course! It's not only that... when I learn everything I need to, I'll be able to do more, and then I might be able to sometime teach someone else...

[His tail swishes lightly.] See? And you'll make sure I don't accidentally burn down our home.

[immobileyes]

... [ That's a very good point. ]

Do you know how to put out a fire?

[lionly]

With water? Sometimes sand, or blankets...

[Elza did you know that electrical fires are different...]

[immobileyes]

... We should see if there are fire extinguishers here.

[ and she'll gently nudge him onwards. ]
