Who: Rio, Ryouga, and anyone who wants to have birthday shenanigans
When: 2/11-2/12 and 2/13
Where: Lots of places I guess
What: So, Rio's fading out and Ryouga's slowly choking to death. That doesn't stop Rio from trying to at least brighten her brother's birthday, for what it's worth... mostly.
Rating/Warning: I doubt much other than general (mute) grump from Ryouga, but I'll update if necessary!

[A, 2/11-2/12: locked to Mizael + anyone who has existing CR with either of the twins (feel free to assume!)]

[As much as it's becoming a pain to try and type with cold fingers and occasionally phased-out hands, Rio is determined to send this message. If you're Mizael or otherwise known to her as someone she is fond of, even if Ryouga doesn't know you (or perhaps if he does), she'll be sending out a semi-mass text in an effort to set something good into motion. If not for her sake, then certainly for his.]

Hello! My brother Ryouga's birthday is coming up on the 13th, and I'd like to lift his spirits a bit if things have not cleared up by then. Would you mind meeting me at the marketplace, if you have time? Thank you.

Nasch's birthday is in a few days. I'd like to do something nice for him so things are a little more tolerable if these... issues... are still causing concern by then. I'm not sure what you know of how this tradition works, but if you have time, please meet me at the marketplace.

[B, 2/13: locked to IV]

Here. Eat this.

[She's worried about him. While he's been having trouble breathing, and has made her freak out on at least two separate occasions by passing out right on the floor, he still needs to eat. It's to the point where he can't even speak anymore, be it from the fact his mouth is apparently numbing over or that he can't draw enough air into his lungs to actually say anything, and it's hard to see him like this.

Having dragged him all the way to the cosplay cafe, Rio places a plate of something fairly meaty in front of him, setting a drink down next to it. She holds the tray to her cold body and watches for a reaction, hoping he won't protest in this state. He's got to conserve his strength, even if that means sacrificing air for food every few seconds. It breaks her heart to watch, honestly...

...But not so much that it will stop her from hiding a few vegetables in the food. She's curious if he'll even figure out that they're in there at all; all the better if not, though.]

[C, 2/13: open to everybody]

[The morning of, Rio's careful to keep a certain slip of paper hidden from Ryouga. She tells him she wants to take him out to have fun today before her shift, and won't take no for an (unspoken) answer. Cheerfully, she pats his back as they walk out the door, praising him for humoring her.

What he doesn't know is that she's stuck a sign that says "hug me, it's my birthday" onto his back, and is planning to get the most out of it while she can. They can be found more than likely window shopping in the shopping district on Rio's insistence; follow instructions on the street if you're so inclined, or maybe try to ruin her fun -- at your own risk.]

[He's heard some things by now, and they don't sound too good. When he receives correspondence from Rio about their whereabouts, he heads straight for the cosplay cafe. Only, upon arriving, he doesn't see them from the entrance and goes deeper, ignoring the waitress who offers to seat him.

His sight hasn't been all that reliable as of late, but how hard can it be to find two people? Apparently, it's a difficult task. He must look the fool, glancing to and fro despite Ryouga and Rio being plain in sight.]

Where are they . . . ?

[Ryouga's poking around his food when he spies IV coming in. Blinking widely, he looks up as he walks right by them. By now, Ryouga knows what happens when he tries to yell, so rather than shout for anyone, he waves his fork at Rio and jerks his head at where IV is.]

[Rio takes the hint quickly, having not left Ryouga's side -- "medical issues" seems a perfectly feasible excuse to center her attention on him today. But seeing IV blunder right past them is... strange.]

I'm right here, IV.

[She taps him on the shoulder; at least the touch connects this time. Ignoring that she's in a classic French maid outfit today, she's sort of hoping she hasn't completely vanished yet... why else would he be looking around like he can't see her? But then again, Ryouga is having no such issues, so what's the problem...?]

[It isn't the call or tap that alarms him so much as the fact that he doesn't see anyone when IV whips around. Eyes glinting with suspicion, he blindly reaches out in hopes of at least finding Rio's wrist before she can put it away.]

Is that you, Rio?

[Yet again, squinting doesn't help.]

[Ryouga twists in his seat; he ends up opening his mouth to call out but his jaw slackens at a weird time and his tongue twists… not that any noise comes out anyway. He exhales through his nose impatiently, setting his elbow on the back of his chair and his chin on his fist. What in the world is going on with everyone?]

Yes? We're both here. Can you not--?

[Forgetting about her condition for a moment, she reaches for IV's hand, only to phase right through. This again... Thinning her lips, she turns back around and glances from Ryouga to IV and back again. The same thing must be afflicting IV in a different way; she's heard about the various effects, but...]

Ah... that's unfortunate.

[To say the least. Rio saunters back next to her brother, looking at him one more time as if asking permission to speak for him.]

Ryouga is here as well, but he's currently having... ventilation issues at the moment. I'm afraid I'll have to translate for the time being.

[[Scowling, IV paces himself as he follows Rio's voice to the nearby table. He can't tell how close or far he is from her, but there's a plate of food and the seat is pulled out on one end, which he figures to be Ryouga's.]

Is it that bad?

[He takes the seat on the opposite side, staring at what looks like an empty chair to him.]

Ryouga . . . I can't see you, either.

[Ryouga frowns, turning to face IV. It's a little unnerving, being face-to-face with someone that can't see you… He waves his fork out in front of IV's face testing to see if IV really can't see him at all.]

I'm afraid so...

[She sounds as worried as she is. It's dangerous is what it is; as if they needed health issues on top of it all. Rio looks at Ryouga with a quirked eyebrow, but being curious to see the results herself, doesn't immediately snatch it away.]

Ah... I'm sorry, did you need something? It seemed like you had a reason for looking for us.

[IV doesn't follow the fork at all. In fact, because his eye level is a little higher than that of Ryouga's, he unwittingly stares at the latter's forehead. He tears that awkward gaze away to search for Rio by the sound of her voice.]

Do I need a reason? I came to check on you two. Things haven't been all that stable lately.

[There's also the fact that it's their birthday, but now doesn't seem like a good time to bring in that detail.]

How's Ryouga?

[Ryouga slumps back in his seat, setting the utensil back down and dropping his shoulders. He shows Rio a shrug, as if he's not all that concerned with his own condition. At least he can see - besides, it's not as bad if he's sitting.]
