Shopping District

[So. Things are still super weird. Everything about this colony and everything he’s learned over the last couple of days has been very strange to him, not to mention stressful.

Initially when he woke up a few days later shivering he had assumed maybe he was sick. Not that that had mattered. He burrowed further in his blankets and that was that…except that it wasn’t. Everything felt cold, even Baymax activating his internal heater did nothing for him.

So he left. He took off, taking his robot on the train with him and headed for the shopping district. Over the course of the day he’s wandering with Baymax, occasionally burying himself further and further into piles of clothing. Sorry if he startles you by being there.

On the other hand, taking Baymax anywhere is always a hassle. When Hiro’s not trying to warm up, he’s chasing after the robot, occasionally bumping into people.]

Baymax! Wait! [Baymax might not be fast, but it’s easy to get separated from him. Heads up, he’s not at all watching where he’s running. He might just run right into you…or through you. Or through a building. Well that’s not normal, is it? Who knows where he’ll end up.]

CERES Game Center

[Being nearly invisible is kinda bad. He’s almost completely faded by the time he makes his way to the CERES game center with Baymax at his side. The robot and invisible-boy are blocking the entrance to ViViD today due to the fact that Hiro’s sitting just outside of it scowling at it, moving around the system to try and figure it out without going inside. If he sees someone passing by though or even approaching to play, he’ll catch their attention, trying to grab them by the arm and phasing right through.]

I'm not going to freak out, Hiro. Not right now.

[ when stuff is actually going down, he definitely will, though. ]

Just - man, there was the killer Santa who attacked everyone with a chainsaw if your apartment didn't have milk and cookies. And just recently, CERES said they were doing some spring cleaning, but all the electronics went haywire, and people started dreaming crazy stuff like a lady getting strangled.

It's not the normal kind of glitches you might think. They're. . . terrifying stuff.

Killer Santa I knew about. [He recalls that somewhere in the haze of his brain. The night of their last huge discussion is fuzzy in places just due to the sheer amount of information and baggage they had to deal with.] ...but I didn't know those specifics.

[It explains some things about Baymax, at least. Maybe that's why he's just wandering off on his own, but does that count? Does Baymax count as an electronic in a place like this? He's not quite sure.]

They're basically doing a virus scan on us but it's screwing us up. [This whole thing was a fun analogy for a while. Now it's a lot harder not to take it seriously.] Wouldn't that kinda be more reason for people to be more on guard with this stuff?

It should, but you'll find that the people here are trying to get back to their normal lives.

[ a pause. ]

Whatever that means.

[ though in tadashi's case, that means a lot to him. he's on guard, but he still wants to enjoy his stay here. there's no way he'll be able to go back to his home in san fransokyo, so for him, this is his home now. ]

[zerotohiro]

[There's a pause. He can understand that. Aren't he and Tadashi busy trying to get back to normal? And besides, Tadashi has a life he's started to create here in the two months he was without Hiro.]

I get it. I really do, but...kinda interested in figuring out how to stop all of these things so that we can get back to our normal lives. I can't be the only one. I still have a couple of things I want to ask Mosley.

Finding solutions and getting answers is the tough part.

But with what's happened here so far, think we can build something some time? You know, to rescue people?

[ with the two of them working on something, at least it'll be an ingenious idea. ]

Because I'm sure more awful things are bound to happen in the future.

[zerotohiro]

Like we both don't already have ideas. [C'mon, Tadashi. He knows you. Both Hamadas are continually a whirl of ideas with a dedicated focus. He'd be surprised if Tadashi didn't already have something in mind.]

I think we're definitely gonna need it though. That's the part I don't like. [It's a shift in him, possibly something Tadashi hasn't seen before as the determination to keep people safe surfaces a bit.] People shouldn't have to be rescued here. CERES shouldn't be putting everybody through these things...but it'll be fine. We'll make something really sweet to keep people safe.

[bropane]

[ well, he has his line of cybuddies to make, after all! that's been his priority so far. pet versions of baymax. ]

You know, I think there's something you haven't exactly discussed with me yet. [ a pause, and he smiles, hoping to lighten the mood. ] That superhero business.

[ if he knows what hiro's capable of, maybe he can figure out how to fix things, and what to do with his own equipment. ]

[His shoulders tense just slightly and he shoots Tadashi a very nervous grin in response. The superhero thing, huh? They had talked about it, of course, even if it was just "I formed a team with our friends and we're helping people." So yeah. This is kind of an awkward thing to ask and he nods slowly.]

What exactly do you want to know about it?

[bropane]

[ he just shrugs nonchalantly. this is obviously a big deal for him, but he's too exhausted to actually make a big deal about it. so a casual conversation is all he offers. ]

You tell me. What exactly do you do, and what kind of... I dunno - tech did you make for it?

[zerotohiro]

...like I said, we're just keeping San Fransokyo safe. Runaway trolleys, bank robberies, stuff like that. ["Callaghan trying to murder Krei. House fires. Stuff like that."] We've got the backing from the police and fire department, and the mayor, too. [He's proud of himself, but it's clear he's holding back his own excitement and everything he needs to tell Tadashi about it.]

And you've seen some of the tech I've made. My armor and Baymax's armor that we brought home? I made those. I made armor for the whole team...[He laughs suddenly.] Fred's even got a super-suit that lets him jump really high and be the fire-breathing lizard he's always wanted to be. GoGo's got electromagnetic discs on her wrists and ankles for speed and to throw...Honey can create her chemical balls inside a purse I built for her and Wasabi has gloves that can produce his lasers he's been working on. I created everything to work with all of their strengths.

[But why bother explaining what his and Baymax's armor does? That can wait.]

Not bad, knucklehead.

[ he actually wants to know about hiro's, but truth be told, what he's made for their friends sound really cool. ]

You guys sure helped each other out for that one. [ a beat, and the dreaded question. ] What do you do?

[zerotohiro]

[He ducks his head a little, a little more than pleased by Tadashi's approval as they approach the building Tadashi's apartment is in. He doesn't say anything for a moment, thinking of how to describe it. The thing about forming the Big Hero 6 is that he's bonded with their friends so much in that short period of time. Tadashi's probably happy about that, too.]

Hey, every team needs a leader, right? Figured I should probably be ours.

[bropane]

[ tadashi is indeed happy, but he can't help but feel that there's something hiro isn't telling him. ]

So, that's it. You stay behind the frontlines and just lead. [ he says a bit more chipper than usual, hoping for the younger to slip up, or something. ]

[zerotohiro]

[Ahhhhh. Well. It's harder to say yes to that not only because it's a lie but also it plays right to Hiro's ego. So he pouts for a moment upon realizing Tadashi's subtly tricking him...but still trying to wiggle his way out of it.]

I mean not exactly? I'm on the field, too. I can't be a good leader if I can't see what the others are doing, right? [A beat.] Besides, I've got a sick view from the air. Makes things easier for me and Baymax to monitor where the team needs to go when we're fighting crime.

[bropane]

Soooo. . . you go where Baymax goes?

[ basically attached to the hip, huh? ]

[zerotohiro]

[A huff of laughter.] He hasn't left me alone even when I asked him to. [Implying that he doesn't ask anymore. They're close. Maybe a little too close, seeing how Hiro relies on Baymax pretty heavily now along with their friends.] He's been learning a lot, Tadashi, it's amazing. I wrote a couple of other chips for him to expand his skill set and it's really helping him adapt.

[A pause.] ...he's kinda like my best friend. We do a lot together. And he's taking care of the others, too. [Including Aunt Cass.]

[bropane]

[ there's something he wants to say, about how he has competition now in being hiro's best friend, but... he's not allowed to say things like that anymore. especially after what had happened to him. ]

I'm glad the two of you are getting along, [ there's no malice or jealousy when he says this, because tadashi really does mean it. his inspiration for creating baymax was hiro, after all. ] And even better that he's doing what he's supposed to do.

[zerotohiro]

Yeah. Annnd a little more than what he's supposed to do. [A grin follows but he's not saying anything beyond that.] But don't worry, he's being taken care of.

[Not that he rebuilt him, but eh. There's a short pause though and he suddenly looks up at Tadashi carefully.] There's probably some other stuff you should know about Baymax, too. But we can talk about it later.

[bropane]

[ tadashi can't help but feel that this might be bad news... it's just how he is. what is there that he has to learn about baymax that he hasn't, already...? the superhero thing is shocking and slightly bad news, but he's welcomed it anyway if it's helping hiro. but... what else could there possibly be?

well, whatever. hiro said he'd tell him. he isn't letting him off that easy. ]

You better tell me everything I need to know. Let's not have any surprises anymore.

[zerotohiro]

Later, okay? When everything's back to normal? [Pleeeeeeease?] It's a lot to explain.

I know, I know.

[ HE KNOWS. ]
