Shopping District

[So. Things are still super weird. Everything about this colony and everything he’s learned over the last couple of days has been very strange to him, not to mention stressful.

Initially when he woke up a few days later shivering he had assumed maybe he was sick. Not that that had mattered. He burrowed further in his blankets and that was that…except that it wasn’t. Everything felt cold, even Baymax activating his internal heater did nothing for him.

So he left. He took off, taking his robot on the train with him and headed for the shopping district. Over the course of the day he’s wandering with Baymax, occasionally burying himself further and further into piles of clothing. Sorry if he startles you by being there.

On the other hand, taking Baymax anywhere is always a hassle. When Hiro’s not trying to warm up, he’s chasing after the robot, occasionally bumping into people.]

Baymax! Wait! [Baymax might not be fast, but it’s easy to get separated from him. Heads up, he’s not at all watching where he’s running. He might just run right into you…or through you. Or through a building. Well that’s not normal, is it? Who knows where he’ll end up.]

CERES Game Center

[Being nearly invisible is kinda bad. He’s almost completely faded by the time he makes his way to the CERES game center with Baymax at his side. The robot and invisible-boy are blocking the entrance to ViViD today due to the fact that Hiro’s sitting just outside of it scowling at it, moving around the system to try and figure it out without going inside. If he sees someone passing by though or even approaching to play, he’ll catch their attention, trying to grab them by the arm and phasing right through.]

You can't defend yourself that well, anyway. Clearly.

Well nobody's expecting a lightning-fast flick. That's kinda like cheating. [He's not sure how he did it, but Kanda did something that equates to foulplay.] I can defend myself just fine and I'd be totally fine if I actually wore my armor today.

[He glances down.] Could you defend yourself very well without the sword?

[overgrowth]

Nothing here's normal. You're going to have to deal with that.

[ kanda brushes a hand over the hilt of mugen reflexively. ]

Depends against what.

[A huff. Fine, okay, fair point. But the second part is what interests him more.]

...you're saying there's stuff it can't defend against?

[overgrowth]

It's specialized. For things that aren't here, apparently.

[ and for some reason kanda seems grouchy about that, but it's mostly misdirected annoyance and anger. ]

But it's still a blade that can cut you. And your... bay-max. [ no need to worry about that! ]

[zerotohiro]

[Suddenly his eyes narrow.] Don't you dare get your sword near my robot. [Otherwise you are in for a world of terrible things, bro. Terrible.]

Anyway, our armor could probably stand up to it. A blade's still a blade, specialized or not. [Since it doesn't look like a laserbeam or anything weird.]

[overgrowth]

What's it made out of?

[ looks... soft and squishy, without the armor. kanda gives baymax a long suspicious look. ]

Vinyl mostly with a carbon fiber skeleton. Strong but light metal. Also equip with actuators for mobility. [He reaches up to tap his knuckles against Baymax's access port, causing the robot to tilt his head and watch what Hiro's hands are doing.] He's programmed via a few computer chips that he scans and reads and he runs off of a lithium ion battery for faster charging purposes, too. His dock's back at my brother's apartment.

[Whatever the case may be, it's obvious that Hiro knows a lot about his brother's creation and has zero problem rambling about it to a stranger who just hit him in the head. That's fine.]

[overgrowth]

[ it's a lot of information that kanda hardly understands. the basics, though, he gets. and he totally encourages people sharing possibly sensitive information to people they don't know! ]

And he uses them to—what, detect injuries?

[ how that works, precisely, kanda doesn't get at all. ]

Who's your brother?

[zerotohiro]

Detect injuries, treat injuries, use martial arts, that kinda thing. It's pretty limitless based on whatever we write on his chips.

[He doesn't seem too perturbed by that question. People have asked a lot lately.] His name's Tadashi. You know him? He's been here a few months.

[overgrowth]

No. I just got here.

[ and he's still lost and confused in parts. ]

Did you get here at the same time as him?

[zerotohiro]

I got here whenever you got here, I think. [He's pretty lost, too, but probably not nearly as much as Kanda.] ...somebody told me that I've been here before, but I don't remember any of that.

[overgrowth]

[ kanda remains willfully ignorant about many things. ]

Did your memories get changed somehow?

[zerotohiro]

Someone told me it's because my code got corrupted. I don't know if that's true but I wanna find out. [Though...] You seem kinda calm about that idea though.

[overgrowth]

I've heard of weirder.

[ like kids possessing demons and other people and being recreated from just a brain. ]

Still don't believe it, though.

[zerotohiro]

I don't really either, but I've had at least three people tell me that Baymax and I have both been around. There's something weird about it and it's why I'm going to ask around and see what else I can find out.

[A pause.] Do...I wanna know what "weirder" really means?

[overgrowth]

Maybe they killed the old you and made a new one.

[ kanda sounds more than a little bitter about it. he doesn't elaborate on the "weirder" part either. ]

[zerotohiro]

[Kanda... Granted...maybe that would explain why Tadashi's here. He actually pauses for a moment to consider that possibility. After all, he made the new Baymax, didn't he? Same chip, different body. Could it be the same thing?]

You say that like I'd let somebody just kill me. [A beat.] I'm not the only one this has happened to though. You gonna tell me CERES killed all of them and brought them back, too?

[overgrowth]

They've done weirder shit. Look at this place.

[ kanda just thinks the worst of everything, pretty much. but things are proving to be bad, anyway. ]

People said they came back from the dead too.

[zerotohiro]

[This suddenly became a lot more interesting.] People here? What people have said that?

[overgrowth]

I went back in archives. Couple people, some of them aren't here anymore.

[ and he forgot a lot of them already because he's kanda. ]

[zerotohiro]

All the more reason to keep looking. I might check it out myself. [Thanks for the tip-off.] It can't be that hard to find something useful.

[overgrowth]

[ kanda shrugs. ]

Maybe. They're good at hiding stuff.

[zerotohiro]

And I'm good at finding stuff. Trust me. You'll be one of the first to know when I find something helpful.
