[ It had been a very hard week for Scuttlebutt. She kept misplacing ordinary objects, forcing her to remain indoors, her staff was sick, arrested, or vanished, and she had this nagging lethargy that wasn't going away...
Still, the news always gets through. She wasn't about to give up her perfect schedule for that. --Hopefully no one would notice the slight dip in quality. ]

[ Myriam Scuttlebutt, wearing her cardboard box, carries a stack of bundles of The Cerealia Times newspaper in a cardboard box on a hand-truck.
Or rather, she's waiting for a certain freeloader of a pirate to show up and do it for her. She'd long hoped to push the menial work on someone else and she really hoped that it'd happen today. ]
"Where the heck is he... kahk kahk kahk."
She'd continue to wait outside the store for him.
B. OTA
[ Myriam Scuttlebutt, wearing her cardboard box, sits behind a register at the School Supply Store she works at. She rings people up blandly and then... even more blandly, tries to offer them a copy of the paper. ]
C. OTA
[ Read the paper and post your character's own reaction, wherever they may be! Perhaps confront Myriam before she leaves the delivery area if they wish to comment directly to the editor? The paper can definitely be found at Archer's food-stand, Thistle Do Nicely flower-tea shop, The Little Sister cosplay cafe, the Arcade, and the Opera House. ]

PANIC IN THE STREETS!

- FEBRUARY 14
- CEREALIANS RAN FOR THEIR LIVES yesterday, when noted Prince Vegeta from the planet Vegeta, who some had referred to as "Evil Saiyan Menace," took to the skies and blasted several buildings into loose debris, raining chaos, destruction, and terror on all.
The motive is unknown, but this reporter was able to take this blurry photograph and get a quote from a person close with Prince Vegeta:
"This isn't [Prince Vegeta]! He isn't hearing me! People could die!"
It's speculated the person wasn't speaking literally but more figuratively.
Any deaths have not been confirmed, but it's speculated that the number is probably "more than zero." Those buildings probably weren't empty.
Any information on deaths or injuries should be reported to the local authorities.- CEREALIANS RAN FOR THEIR LIVES yesterday, when noted Prince Vegeta from the planet Vegeta, who some had referred to as "Evil Saiyan Menace," took to the skies and blasted several buildings into loose debris, raining chaos, destruction, and terror on all.

Local orchestra leader Nonon Jakuzure arrested.
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt- Surprising no one, Nonon Jakuzure, local conductor at the Opera House, got herself arrested by making what the police reported as "serious threats" against the prison facility in an attempted jailbreak for her girlfriend Ryuko Matoi.

Local baseball game planned.
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt- Someone's organizing a baseball game. Should be fun for those who enjoy that sort of thing. For those who don't know, baseball is a sport involving a "ball" and "bases". A piece of wood called a "bat" is involved at some point. It's the national sport of the United States of America, and the most popular sport in Japan, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela.

No music column this week.
byline: Myriam Scuttlebutt- There will be no music column this week as the authoress, Nonon Jakuzure, has gotten herself arrested and can't write columns for submittal to the paper while in prison. We apologize for the inconvenience.
In her vein though, this reporter once heard there was a classical music piece that used real cannons in the performance. Maybe Nonon would've liked that.- There will be no music column this week as the authoress, Nonon Jakuzure, has gotten herself arrested and can't write columns for submittal to the paper while in prison. Eventually, though, he wanders up, bandages peeking out above his haramaki.]
Oh, this is the place. You gave me terrible directions. [not that he remembered them correctly or followed them precisely] I'm ready.
no subject
[she was pretty sure]
Good, grab the hand-cart and let's go.
[she avoided saying how long it'd take for fear he'd balk at the last second]
no subject
[that hand-truck is it? Pshaw, easy! He grabs it and is on the go, wisely sticking right behind her. She knows the route, after all]
How many places carry the paper, now? I've grabbed 'em from Archer but...
no subject
[she'd hedge her bets a little and change the subject]
What happened to you? You get in a fight?
no subject
Tried to stop Vegeta. Again.
no subject
[she'd take out a copy of the paper and show it to him with the top story and picture of Vegeta]
no subject
[it's all sarcasm, but maybe he shouldn't shoot his mouth off so quick since he's met two guys named Masamune.
Anyway. He looks at the paper and makes a face at the photo.]
'Course. I fought him before, I wasn't going to just stand there and watch.
no subject
...And you only got those bandages? You're not secretly wrapping up broken bones with those bandages, are you?
[Scuttlebutt didn't want to think she was forcing him to work when he was already half-injured and risk crippling him with the weight and then be on the hook for liability with his medical bills]
no subject
[because did he bother to go to a doctor? No way in hell. Zoro can only guess at his injuries. But he's sure he'd be a lot more sore if he broke anything.]
I'm fine. It could've been a lot worse.
no subject
[she'd slip the copy back in the pile... well, she could always claim he said he was fine.]
Okay, first stop, the Opera House.
no subject
[he feels that, though. He could have actually died, and he knows it.]
Opera House. Right.
...where's that?
no subject
It's this way, follow me.
[she took a few steps]
We cater to a wide variety of people, even those of haute couture enjoy The Cerealia Times, dontcha know? Sss, sss, sss.
no subject
That so? Probably shouldn't be surprised. Those kind like gossip.
no subject
Better watch out. If we're unlucky, Miss Couture herself might jump out and cut our heads off!
no subject
[flatly. What are you even, Myriam.]
Is that why you needed a delivery guy? So I can defend you from head-choppers?
no subject
Sss, sss, sss! Nah, I'm just pullin' yer leg. Miss Couture and I are on good terms.
no subject
Or is it?]
So you're doing this all for free? How do you make a living. [waaaait a second...] How're you gonna pay me, then?
no subject
It's not that complicated.
no subject
no subject
[and, there they were, at the opera house]
The Opera House gets two stacks. Don't tear 'em, okay?
no subject
[he can be delicate when he wants! And this is totally a piece of cake. One, two...there you go, opera house.]
Next?
no subject
Sss, sss, sss. Next, we go to the game center, arcade... place... thing.
--No time for playing any games there, though!
[she never did... she'd guess he didn't either, but you never could be sure]
no subject
I don't play games. Especially not the virtual ones, they're stupid.
[Now, where was the game center? By the bars, right? Now...where are the bars?]
no subject
[sorta, at least. Her friends liked them...]
But a lot of people go there anyway.
no subject
Ever thought about delivery? You know, making people pay a little to have papers taken to them.
no subject
[one she wouldn't admit was fearing disappointment that no one would subscribe]
no subject
[He's so used to the News Coo, at the moment he can't fathom who wouldn't want the convenience of dropping coins into a delivery box to get the paper no matter where they are]
no subject
As long as the paper is free, I can prove easily this is not true. --The minute I take money for it, people will start chirping those things again, even if it is only to recoup the costs of printing or delivering it.
no subject
I guess I can see that. But I'm used to a paper that covers up the facts if the Marines or the World Government leans on it hard enough, so it's not really a huge shock.
no subject
Surely there must have been some sort of underground freedom-oriented paper?
no subject
Don't think so, at least not on a worldwide level. The News Coos get the paper out every morning all across the world, it's a pretty impressive feat as it is.
no subject

--Oh! Hi, Roy. Sss, sss, sss.
My capacity for sleep deprivation! As usual... Sss, sss, sss, sss.
Can I offer you the latest copy of my paper? It's fresh off the presses. Free, as always.
no subject
Ya ought'a get more sleep. Yeah, I guess ya can do that. [ He always reads it even if he doesn't comment on it. Sometimes it makes him confused. ] Ya not gettin' enough sleep cause'a the paper?
no subject
Here, take it!
no subject
no subject
[ He accepts the paper, to neatly fold it, and put in a pants pocket. He is in the middle of shopping, so he'll read it in peace at home or outside. ]
Thanks!
no subject
You're welcome! Uh... you looking for anything specific?
no subject
[ Well, he tends to go into shops to learn more about the future, but now that she mentions it... ]
Ya don't happen t'have any ink for dip pens here?
