[ he's been building up for this day for about a week and today is the day all of Yamamoto's dreams will come true. he shows up at least fifteen minutes earlier, just to get everything set up: laying down cones (shamelessly borrowed from the school) for bases, checking the number of balls and mitts, making sure they had everything they needed to have a good game going.

he also brought a case of water bottles for the participants (purchased with his own hard-earned credits. gotta make sure they all stay hydrated. he'll just be practicing his swing as he waits for people to show up. ]

(OOC: i'll be setting up different comment threads in this post for people to tag around in, so just wait until i get them up before tagging please! have at it! also, the winners are Natalia's Team!

FYI, yamamoto is not playing, but he'll be around for quick tips/lessons and be a back-up substitute should anyone need it. feel free to also volunteer your character as a sub if you wish!)

[Actually, it may seem like he's too excessively energetic, but to anyone who's seen him in the past, he may seem vaguely more sluggish in comparison to how he usually is. He's still acting chipper and peppy, though.]

[Hey, look who it is! It's the team's shady manager, one Jade Curtiss. This was a compromise towards the idea of playing on Natalia's team, and he figured that the business experience could be useful within the colony.

He comes to the team's area and quickly lays some things out on a table; it's a number of adhesive clothing patches and pins that all bear the names of different Cerealia businesses, from the odd to the inappropriate.]

Gather around, everyone. There isn't much time. I've managed to draw in a fair amount of sponsors, but it won't mean anything if you won't wear their names. Let's satisfy this commercialist ritual in an orderly manner shall we?

[He taps at his glasses as he waits for people to claim them.]

DURING GAME

This is an interesting game...although I am unfamiliar with the rules, I suppose I can understand some of its appeal.

[He says, musing aloud. Sports, he's come to understand, serves to satisfy the human competitive drive without actually harming the players involved (for the most part). Cheering for teams is supposed to be a substitute for humanity's tribal roots, or something like that.

He's not playing or a team member, of course, but Saiduq somehow appeared sitting in the dugout nonetheless...? Without a sound too, which might be a bit disconcerting.

Can one really be called a spectator though, if they're...in the dugout with the team itself...? Well, shove aside that question for the moment, because he's got a question or two for you, unfortunate member of either team that he just so happens to address.]

Why do you yourself wish to participate in this activity?

[ rin catches sight of yamamoto on the way out; he acknowledges him with a wave. he's discovered - or rediscovered, more like - that baseball isn't necessarily his strong point, but at least he hadn't embarrassed himself out there. kind of a low standard, especially when given rin's natural tendency for competition, but -- what can you do. he's a swimmer, not a ball player. ]

At least we put up a good fight. What'd you think?

[Of course Leon had shown up. He hadn't been able to stay away, for more than one reason. And of course he hadn't played, also for more than one reason; he's just been leaning on the fence from time to time and watching everyone embarrass themselves. Damn . . .

One thing had gotten to him, though--okay, more than one thing had, but some of it he doesn't want to deal with right now. This part's easier. And his curiosity is killing him. After the game's over, he wanders up to Yamamoto, looking as sullen as he did in the video when they'd first spoken, hands in his pockets.]

Hey, all that and you didn't even play? You kiddin'?

[ SO THEY... LOST... to another team that equally does not know how to play the game and that's sad. what's even worse is probably the fact that hawke bet on herself to a robot and is now off to the side, very unfortunately handing over the robot's winnings. ]

At least it wasn't much...

[ she runs a hand through her hair and looks rather put out. really! totally should have won here! if anyone wants a slightly sulking champ, she'll be over here. she most likely struck at least one home run during the game though, so there is that! ]

She points to herself in absolute confusion for a second longer before she... kind of does a small little hop (even in her heels) and claps her hands together once, apparently giddy.]
