[ Kasen sighs as if this was a truly traumatic, horrible experience, because it was, thank you. He'll hear no sass on the matter!! ]

It was that ridiculous, what was it, game! I had finished and completed all its stupid tasks, and so I was free, but then it dropped me into that horrid place! I had no choice in the matter, let me be clear about that!

I believe you!

[He does! Really! He may not be Kasen's BFF, but he knows his feelings about elegance. Dumpster diving is not elegant.]

It broke my arm, for a while. [Glitching. He means glitching. But he's trying to sympathize.]

What? Namazuo-kun—

[ That at least gets Kasen to switch from Kitchen Guardian Mode (tm) to Team Mom Mode (tm), and his expression immediately becomes one of concern as he looks towards the wakizashi's arms. ]

My goodness, how did that happen? How are you now? Did Haru-dono repair you?

[ If you wanted to sneak food, this is the chance to guilt Kasen while he's weak... ]

[D'aww, Cooking Mama Kasen is so nice. Namazuo smiles, holding out both his arms and spreading his fingers wide.]

I'm alright! It fixed itself after a little while. I'm not sure what happened--I was in that awful game, and then when I got out, my arm just kept... flickering. Like-- like a ghost! Scary, isn't it? [Says the sword spirit... 2spoopy

He really is fine, though, and he is hungry... but he's not cunning enough to play the guilt card. All he can do is hope his wakizashi charm is strong enough!]

That smells delicious, by the way! [Puppy eyes...]

Hmph...

[ Kasen frowns deeply once the blame falls to ViViD, since unsurprisingly, he's not a fan. He was never going to be a fan considering how his arrival went (and ended, technically), but the more troubles he hears with it, the less he likes it. ]

It is scary. Or at least a cause for concern... Even if it's all right now, I don't like that it happened in the first place.

[ He's one of the starter swords, after all. It's his duty to look after all the rest, or that's at least the role that Kasen has taken for himself.

...Which is why the puppy eyes keep the frown in place. His heart is weak to such begging. ]

I'm glad you think so... It'll be ready in another hour, I think.

[Namazuo can't say he likes it much, either. It doesn't matter that the Honebami he saw hanging from that tree was fake. Coming home just to find out that Honebami hasn't made it here at all certainly hadn't helped his mood.]

Mm. But I'm glad master's here. And you and all the others, of course. [Namazuo isn't the type of sword who can't survive without his friends and family, but he definitely prefers having as many of them around as possible. Especially with cooking mama Kasen here to beg from.]

A whole hour? Really? [Noooooo]

As am I. Though this may be quite an... odd place otherwise, at the very least I am glad to have comrades here by my side. It makes it feel much more familiar, at the very least.

[ He makes a soft, affirming noise at that, but it's followed by a gentle laugh when Namazuo half whines about the cooking time. WHY ARE SWORDS SO FAT... they don't even need to eat. ]

Really. You don't want to eat undercooked food, now do you? If you get sick, it would be terrible! [ for everyone tbh since I don't imagine swords take getting sick well ]

Yes! So long as we're together, I'm sure we can handle whatever this place has in store for us. [MY LITTLE SWORD ~FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC~

And look, he just really likes eating okay? IT'S DELICIOUS. Who wouldn't enjoy delicious food??]

I'm sure a bite wouldn't make me sick! If that's even possible for us. [What if it isn't and Kasen is denying him for nothing? He's gonna starve for no reason...]

I won't take the risk!

[ He wags his ladle at Namazuo, but it's playfully rather than genuinely scolding. His expression carries the same sentiment, since teasing swords about how fat they are is always a good hobby. ]

It reflects badly on me as a cook if you get sick, I'll have you know! An hour's patience for a better meal is a small sacrifice to make.

But...

[LOOK AT THESE BIG, SAD EYES, KASEN. How can you resist this pouty face?]

Shouldn't you have someone try a little? Just to make sure it tastes alright?

[He's being logical and helpful!]

[ Normally, he has an iron-clad will against big sad eyes!! But considering what Namazuo had told him about his arm, he's feeling a little more generous, which is why he rhythmically taps the ladle, then ends up sighing and shaking his head. ]

...Fine. But you can only have a bit of broth and vegetables! The meat definitely isn't done yet, so I won't risk it.

[OH BOY OH BOY SNACKS!! Namazuo's face immediately lights up, and he nods eagerly.]

Right! Yes, of course! That's fine!

[If he had a tail, it would be wagging right now. But he's not Mutsu, and his ahoge is not sentient, so he does the next best thing--opens his mouth expectantly, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet. HE'S READY.]

[ Well, goodness... It's hard to be such a ~~mom~~stickler when Namazuo is so excited about it. Kasen sighs a little, but it's less exasperated and more gently endeared. He grabs a bowl, and then uses his ladle for good and not for smacking hands as he dips up a small bowl of broth and vegetables, which he hands off. ]

Now, just a taste. If it spoils your appetite later, I'll say that I told you so!

[See, he's polite even when he's this excited! He can't help it, eating just never gets old. It's probably one of his favorite parts about being human... on a less serious note, anyway.

He takes the bowl, and immediately brings it to his mouth for a taste. Turns out Kasen doesn't need to smack him--he's more than capable of injuring himself.]

Ouch, hot... [And yet he's still nomming.]

Ah, Namazuo-kun—

[ Kasen clicks his tongue lightly, but the wags his ladle towards Namazo again. Team mom is appearing, and his tone is turning appropriately scolding. ]

At least wait for it to cool down! You can wait a few moments more.

[But moooom...]

I'm sorry... it just looked so delicious, I couldn't resist. [He looks appropriately bashful, peeking at Kasen through his bangs. With what appears to be a great effort, he stops to blow on the bowl--or what's left in it--stealing glances at Kasen like he's just waiting for Cooking Mama to turn away.]

[ He can Tell, and that's why Kasen's frown deeps just a little bit. It's not genuine displeasure, but it's just wondering sometimes how swords even manage to make it... Just day to day... ]

Patience, patience... It will be waiting for you and will be all the more delicious when it's cool. If you burn your tongue, you can't even taste it in the first place, can you?

[Listen, Namazuo didn't blow up a microwave or stab a television, so in comparison he's doing an A+ job around here.]

I suppose not... [Ugh, logic. His nemesis.] It's interesting, isn't it? Eating is still such a fun experience, even now that we're used to these bodies. [More or less.]

[ Kasen's expression at least softens, and after a moment, he nods with a gentler expression. ]

...It is, yes. I wouldn't have guessed it would ever be something I could enjoy.

[ Because he wouldn't have been able to have a physical body to eat food in the first place. He laughs gently, but it's definitely fond. ]

We have quite a bit to thank Haru-dono for.

We do, don't we?

[Namazuo smiles, too. Of course he means more than just food--Haru's the reason for so many wonderful things in their lives now. Not for the first time, he wonders if they should do more for him than they already do. Maybe he'll talk to Kasen about that later, once everyone's settled in a bit more.

(Hahaha, and then jungle happened. Oops.)]

And thank you for this! I'll come wash the bowl when I'm done, is that alright? [Since this is a good handout and he doesn't want to push his luck by hovering...]
