That would depend on the definition of foolish, wouldn't it? Really, I could say it's foolish you even think you need to make that request of me.
[of course, souji knows that saitou means something far more drastic. he's not stupid enough to really think that it would be meant for something other than an occurrence far outside the norm. hell, he's had to warn others of his own issues with similar results in the past.
so he gets it, even if he goads a little. the only reason he even does that at all is to seek even the barest sense of normalcy in a situation that is clearly anything but. neither of them wants to breach the topic properly of the things that happened, mostly because it's difficult. it's not as if souji doesn't want to apologize for his actions that night (day?) after all. hurting saitou like that isn't something he'd ever do in his right mind—he's owed at least that much of an apology. but he can't come right out and say it, especially when they're already dancing around other touchy subjects.
one thing at a time, right?]
It doesn't really make much difference though. It's not like I'd really let Hajime-kun do anything troublesome, anyway. [even if that meant killing him, again. but doing so in his right mind to save saitou from himself is much different, and he knows that goes without saying.]
...I can't have you stealing my thunder, after all. [and a self-deprecating jab at himself. it's true though, because only one of them needs to go out making foolish mistakes, and souji's met their monthly quota for that already. the smallest of smirks creeps on his lips as he shifts positions. it really is getting pretty damn cold in the room.]
