//event007.EXE The Haunting II: Haunt Harder ViViD has opened up a new world that new arrivals will be pulled into while frequent players will be invited to check out. This particular setting is the new beta world that CERES is constructing in time for the Hallow's Eve celebrations and festivals. It's a world inhabited by the undead and several ghouls and monsters of typical horror lore. Inside, one will encounter werewolves, lichens, vampires, succubi, incubi, specters, mummies, and so on. They will be on the prowl and eager to attack, but players need only concern themselves with getting through and getting out. At first, players will awaken outside of a large manor supposedly owned by a wealthy noble who is rumored to be practicing strange alchemic experiments within. Many know him simply as The Count. //SCENARIOS.EXE PHASE I [ xxxx ] Yes, those are all the directions you get. Welcome, indeed, to Atrocia Manor. On the outside, you'll notice a faint howling in the distance. You better start running. That howling is only going to get louder as the werewolves start approaching. They roam in packs and will approach you from all sides, leveling a menacing stare at you before-!!! -licking your hand. They'll all suddenly surround your character and start licking and lavishing attention on you as their tails wag from side to side happily. They may even roll over and show you their bellies for belly rubs. Please give them a treat and lots of love. PHASE II [ xxxx ] Once you survive that grueling challenge, it's on to the next part. This is where things start to heat up. The inner atrium of the mansion is dark, only lit by faint torches. In the center are three of the four ghosts that were spoken of, slowly moving in circles around a shrouded figure. Before you can glimpse at the figure, it disappears and the ghosts turn to you and start approaching from every side. They block you in, leaving you in the center and slowly looming around you. Their howls are prolonged and deep, piercing your ears, and they seem to want to lead you into a room. You can choose to run from their frightful faces or you can follow them. They will seat you down at the dinner table then slowly pull forth a power point presentation. This is your love and/or sex life. Yes, you have a sad one. How dare you? The ghosts will guilt you for this, and somewhere in the midst of their lecture, you notice a faint figure moving along the windows. It's only for a flicker of a second that it appears, but the impression it leaves on you remains. PHASE III [ xxxx ] Feeling tired already? Well, don't stop and rest now! The challenges will only get worse. As you escape the three ghosts, you will ascend the stairs to the second level. Awaiting you is a vicious vampire …panda. Does it want your blood? Nope. It wants to talk to you about how to properly file your tax forms for a successful tax return. It will then lecture you on the EVILS of tax evasion. Be prepared for a scary ride with this one. It's not letting you out of the room until you listen to everything it has to say. For those who attempt to escape, it will… do absolutely nothing. It will sit there and watch you run. PHASE IV [ xxxx ] You escape the horrors of both the first floor and the second floor only to arrive at the basement. The mysterious fourth ghost awaits with its back turned to you. It's covered in a shroud, and you are sure it's going to talk about diversifying your stock profile next. Oh, how wrong you are. Because this one legitimately wants you dead, and it will wear the face of your worst enemy or your least favorite person while swiping down a scythe to reap away your life quickly. It won't be easy to kill, but once you whittle down its life halfway, it will finally reveal its true form. I already know he won't love me back, okay? You don't have to rub it in! [ She slumps into her chair and over the table to bury her tear-stained face in her arms. ] Waaaaaaah!

[ Kougyoku can't see rukh the way a magician can, but she knows when she's being followed. Only one thing in this manor can be so red in the dark... Once she's had enough, Kougyoku balls her hands into fists and stomps as she turns around. ]

[Jennifer clutches her hands to her chest in surprise and takes a step back.

She stammers a moment before trailing off, not sure how to respond. Walking around? Turning a corner?? Trying to find out if the red thing she'd seen had been Kougyoku or something else??]

I'm sorry. There was something here, so I... I was just trying to figure out what it was. I didn't mean to frighten you.

Oh. I see.

[ Embarrassed that she'd made a fuss about nothing, Kougyoku raises her hands and lowers her head just enough to hide her lips behind her sleeves. ]

It is alright. [ Then, she takes a step back and quickly turns away from Jennifer. ] That "it"... You saw it, too? I think it was red.

[ Having already left her own presentation, taunting included, Mirai is in no mood to deal with more of these privacy intruding ghosts. However, she's a bit lost, slamming the door open while catching her breathe since she ran here.

She's been running ever since she got here, really. The power point triggers regret, but it is too late now and someone is crying. ]

Is everything okay? [ What mess did she walk into? ]

[ With the company of another girl, Kougyoku isn't sure if she should feel embarrassed or relieved. Well, at least it's someone to talk to. She turns around in her seat to face Mirai, albeit reluctantly. ]

Oh, it's so terrible! [ And the waterworks keep coming. ] I'm trying to get over him, I really am, but... [ hic ] They say you never forget your first love. Ooh...

[ Who's "they", Kougyoku? You don't have any friends. ]

[WHAT AN ANGRY-LOOKING GIRL good lord. Kaoru raises one hand, mouth obscured briefly behind the sleeve as a small noise of surprise sounds out. Giving innocent strangers heart attacks, how rude...]

Ah— My apologies, miss. [A moment of hesitation... but eventually, the hand that isn't held upward extends forward toward Kougyoku, palm out. A pretty ring is resting there, made of a metal that shines silver and set with red gems in a pattern that looks like a flower of some sort.]

I was trying to find the owner of this. Your dress is so elegant that I thought it may be yours...

[WHO EVEN KNOWS WHERE THIS CAME FROM and Kaoru should probably be more worried about the actual ghost that's lurking around waiting to eat them, but no...]

[ A gasp escapes Kougyoku when she sees the red ring glistening in Kaoru's hand. The compliment tints her cheeks as she covers her mouth, embarrassed that she was even irritated in the first place. The woman's grace—and beauty, now that she can see her—seems to erase any apprehensions Kougyoku had about her. ]

It is not mine. I haven't seen anything like it, but... thank you. I must apologize as well. I mistook you for something else.

[ Something... ]

[While Kougyoku sits slumped forward in her chair, Shinjiro's leaning back in his own with a faint look of panic on his face. He'd ditched school for a reason (fuckin' powerpoints) but it doesn't look like he'll be able to leave this presentation - or the crying mess next to him - any time soon.

Maybe he should, uh, try and make her feel better or somethin'. (It'll make him feel better, at least, if she's not a sobbing wreck any longer.)]

You oughta forget about him and find someone else.

[He means it in a 'you deserve better' kinda way but it...uh, doesn't exactly come out sounding right.]

[ Wow, Shinjiro, don't be rude. Kougyoku chokes on her sobs as she manages a reply. ]

Ooh... What do you know? [ She snivels and furiously wipes her tears away, but not too furious—she'll ruin her makeup. ] I don't suppose you've ever been in love. It's not that simple! I think.

[ Why is Ciel here? Even he doesn't know. He just wants to kill the damned ghosts and be done with it, but no, he has to deal with seeing some girl's life in powerpoint form, and then her crying over it. He's patient, at first, just tapping his foot lightly in irritation, but once the crying starts, he can't handle it anymore. ]

For God's sake, will you shut up?

[ charming... this can only be the beginning of a wonderful friendship ]

[ Wow.

Kougyoku shoots him a glare, gives him a once over. Short, blue hair, undeniably irritating. He reminds her of someone she knows and that's all it takes to get him on her shit list. The sobbing stops, but the look in her eyes changes and it doesn't seem to be for the better. ]

I'm sorry, could you say that again?

[Chizuru reels back when Kougyoku whirls on her. She's sure the other girl isn't trying to frighten her - she's probably just very frightened herself! - but all the same...]

[ABOUT THE DOT-EATING GHOST THAT IS SLOWLY APPROACHING THEM BOTH NOW. Chizuru isn't quite sure how to word that, so she gestures vaguely over her shoulder.]

[ Kougyoku calms down, this time blinking in confusion. Didn't she see this woman before? A faint wakawakawaka can be heard in the distance, but she doesn't know what it means. Maybe it's just a manor thing. ]

[ At that snap, Naruto's going to take a step backwards in surprise because uh he just happened to be walking on the same path as you no big here. ]

[ She doesn't know where Gon came from, but she accepts his offer and dabs at her eyes. This kid is much nicer than the last one. ]

I was just reminded of something unpleasant, but I'm alright now.

[Why does every door he opens today hiding a girl acting so darn weird? The crying makes him flinch for a second, before he's crowded into the room by the ghosts, and his chance to run is gone. Oh, darn.

The best way to escape seems to use this to his advantage. Sorry, Kougyoku, but you're going to be made a prop into Cynbel's little play.]

Making a lady cry... You are an awfully rude bunch, aren't you?

[He gestures at Kougyoku with an extended arm, turning to scold the ghosts, in his sternest (and very fake) tone. Hopefully, nobody questions it too deeply.]

Now, you really ought to apologize! What if she ruins her makeup because of this?

Ah...

[ He makes a very good point! Kougyoku dabs at her eyes with her sleeves, taking care not to smudge the color on her eyes and lips. The ghosts reluctantly moan their apologies, surprisingly intimidated by the boy before them. They just wanted to help, though! ]

[these ghosts are going full on mean girls to this poor girl, huh... Totsuka pipes in helpfully...]

No way, I bet that isn't true at all! [hopefully he doesn't make her CRY MORE....] You can't give up hope just like that, you know.

[ Ah, to be young again. Shion'll just give her a sympathetic shoulder pat-- or would she prefer several? Well, as long as she's crying. ]

[Edgeworth, after being dragged into this crazy manor by Ruby and Yang, has found himself lost as the two girls have gone on their way. Well, discovering what ViViD was like and its mechanics was part of finding out more about this world, so he decides to go along with it. That was how he found himself at the same dinner table as Kougyoku.

He sits through this presentation sullenly, much of it going over his head because what is a love life in his case, but when Kougyoku reacts (just like Phoenix Wright, minus the outburst about the person she has feelings for) and then begins to cry, Edgeworth has had enough. This time, he stands up as well, expression livid. Maybe he doesn't understand what has Kougyoku so worked up - okay, he does in a nutshell, but the feelings behind it and the bigger picture, not so much - but he understands that a young lady has just been reduced to tears. And that, in his book, should be a punishable crime.]

This is unnecessary! [This time, it is Edgeworth's turn to stand up, slamming the table with one hand. He scowls at the ghosts, and points dramatically at the presentation.] How dare you...can't you see she is distraught?! Stop this...this farce immediately!

[ see, hiccup told toothless to stay a bit of a ways behind and look out for "potential danger" as he scouted some of the room. of course, with his fantastic amazing luck, he walks right into the room where kougyoku is crying.

and he stands there. at the door way. dreadfully, dreadfully confused. ]

I-- This is slightly awkward. Did I come at a bad time? [ a glance to the girl, a glance to the ghosts, a glance back to the crying girl. to kougyoku: ] Are you okay?

[ okay, that seemed like a smarter question in his head. ]

[ crying over unrequited love... is kind of miserable, if he was completely honest, but he can't help but feel a little bit of pity for her, especially since the fact that the powerpoint is about her means that it's not about him. Gingerly, he reaches out a hand and puts it on her shoulder. ]

There, there... You're far too old to be crying like that over a boy.

Phase II

[Walking by the sudden sounds of wailing catch her attention and she comes inside the room. Lily quickly sees the source of the tears and she glares at the ghosts. It wasn't nice to make someone cry!

In her own attempt she summons Bandersnatch and begins to swat at the ghosts.]
