It is a quiet day in mostly reconstructed Cerealia. The robots are busily running into walls that were not there before, the Cybuddy bees are buzzing...and CERES has still not said a word. Attempting to contact them still gets the User Offline error. Strange...

But who cares if CERES is offline? After all, they are the cruel and tyrannical captors. A Cerealia without them must be better than a Cerealia with them. So there's nothing to worry about on this fine, peaceful day. Or, at least, that's what it seems like, when suddenly there's a voice in everyone's head. A chosen few may recognize the voice, for they will have heard it before, but to the vast majority, it is brand new.

Looks like someone has been saved, and a reward granted... and no, you don't have a single choice in the matter.

Your heroism will be remembered, lost and stolen souls.

You have saved me, and so now, I shall save you.

All of you.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ day one ] It happens so quickly. One moment you’re in the colony, going about your daily life, and the next, you’re… floating. A moment later, every player character from the colony is transported with a wisp of fresh air to...somewhere very very different. The distance is far, but it is covered in what must have only been a scant moment, and it’s clear somehow, especially to air characters, that it was Caeli’s doing that brought everyone there.

There, naturally, being right in the middle of the jungle.

Everyone is then unceremoniously dropped. You may land on a tree, or in a patch of poison mushrooms (no really, look out for the colorful plant life, it’s probably poisonous) or in the river. There are some strange insects of all sorts and types, some of which have some uncomfortable side effects if you’re bitten, such as swelling or the uncomfortable urge to go hug the nearest person, and there are strange flowers everywhere, some of which glow only in the dark of night or the shade of trees. It is dreadfully humid, however, and a little hard to breathe--unless you’re of the air disposition.

Either way, you’ve certainly landed somewhere fantastical, so take some time to get used to your surroundings. It shouldn’t take too long to find everyone else, hopefully.

PHASE II

[ day two ] Of course, this far into the jungle, and making this much noise, it was only inevitable before some company was attracted.

Some are clearly dangerous, some are peaceful as can be and some are somewhere in between; approach at your own risk.

Either way, these monsters are all drawn to larger groups of people and a lot of noise, so it may be best to keep quiet...though the ones that keep their distance may be even more concerning.

Everyone is certainly being stalked at one point or another in the jungle -- and at night, there are eyes watching from the darker parts of the trees.

PHASE III

[ day three ] But perhaps if you follow some of those monsters deeper into the woods, you will stumble across an old, run down village of sorts. It looks as though time and the jungle has overtaken it. Exploring it will reveal plenty of homes that were clearly lived in however, by families and by people of all sorts.

There are empty rooms, covered in dust, and a central village fire, long gone out.

Small knick-knacks and various objects can be found… if you want to steal from the dead, you know. It’s a little rude. It appears they led a simple, peaceful life, however; most notably, there is no technology to be found.

And if The Bridge catches you doing it, she will look incredibly sad and ask you to put everything back in its proper place before she goes back to looking very irritated at Caeli. You may overhear words about how this “isn’t the right place” and Caeli’s unrepentant, “It is only a few hundred miles”. Looks like something went a little wrong in the transportation process.

Time to camp out for the night, perhaps. And your CereVices don’t get any reception out here, so no surfing the internet for you. If you try to connect to the internet, for some reason the device starts playing a song. Was that programmed…?

PHASE IV

[ day four ] By the fourth day, it’s pretty clear that you’re going to be stuck here for a bit. Pestering Caeli or Maris gets nothing, while the Bridge still can’t be approached for pretty good reasons. So… you’ll just have to make the best of it while they figure out their next approach.

Time to figure out how to camp with few supplies and even fewer nice places to sleep. Maybe try to make a fire (though it’s incredibly difficult, considering how muggy it is here) or try to find some bugs to eat (ew gross).

Of course, you can try hunting, but the prey doesn’t look too friendly, so be careful not to become the prey yourself. The same goes for fishing, it seems.

Some of the trees are poisonous, some of the grasses will cause unfortunate rashes, and some vines will lash out to grab at people (especially colorful ones); basically, this is an entirely untamed alien jungle, so it may not be the fun camping trip you'd like.

Time to work together to survive out here, at least for a little longer.

It’s your time to shine. This is Person Versus Wild.

PHASE V

[ day six ] On day six, the jungle goes utterly silent.

The monsters and animals disappear. The extra friends poof away hastily and suddenly. Maris and the Bridge fall silent (though Caeli admittedly continues floating there as ever). If anyone approaches them to ask, they'll just say that "she is coming".

And soon, she does appear. She moves slowly, lacking in feet; they are roots, as though that of a tree. Nonetheless, she has no troubles with moving forward, slow bit by bit. She does not speak, not at first, and behind her, trotting lightly through the woods, there is another. Both feel strongly of spiritual energy, just like Maris and Caeli. And eventually, after observing the people gathered, they can be spoken to.

BONUS

[ day ??? ] After spending some time in the jungle, emotions might be running a bit amuck. And those emotions might bring some unexpected...friends. Yes, let's go with friends.

Because if a character is typically grumpy, gloomy, stoic, lineface, or anything along those lines, they may find themselves followed by a bright, happy bird. That bird feeds off of those emotions, and will just cheerfully follow around any lineface character for as long as possible. Or until they smile. The birds are otherwise harmless, chirping happily every now and then and following them around like a friendly shadow.

Happy, cheerful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, energetic characters, on the other hand, will soon find themselves followed by... a different friend. Or maybe a handful of them. It depends on how cheerful they are. Either way, these creatures feed off of happiness and fun, but they will also chew on hair or an ear if they're allowed to get that close, making horrifying, chittering noises as they follow anyone who is in a good mood.

PHASE I

[Lily has been a little away from others, so when she finally did decided to venture out and visit friends…this kind of thing happened. Suddenly falling the little Baskerville screams as she lands into a tree. It was quite a drop but could have been worse seeing as there were bright plants around her.

Eyes screwed shut she koala grips to the tree branch as she feels her anger bubbling up. It hurt to hit the tree and her chest fees oddly tight. After a few moments of silence, besides her little gasps for air, she opens an eye and then regrets it.

Gritting her teeth she takes a deep breath and cries out.]

WHAT NOW?!

[This day…was going to be a long one, especially since she is unsure if she can even get from the tree.]

PHASE II

[Settling a little from her previous outburst, needing the day to really do so, Lily starts to explore a little bit. The world was really different from Cerealia and her own…even the Abyss was far from this. So when she sees one of the beautiful creatures before her she can’t help but to stare. It didn’t seem dangerous as it sort of…stared at her. She’s honestly just glad it wasn’t trying to attack her in some way.

Anyone that might get close to her will see her just sitting and watching the animal…she really needed this to help her relax some.]

PHASE III

[Discovering the village Lily has taken to keeping inside of one of the homes. The lack of technology doesn’t bug her as much as she’s just hungry. With a heavy sigh she lays on the ground and trying to calm herself. In her loneliness she does summon Bandersnatch, the chain seems pretty docile right now and instead of appearing threatening, he honestly tries to comfort his master. Staying at her back or even going to the door to peer out.

However, if someone gets close enough to the home he will begin to snarl and bare teeth. This might seem more threatening than it needs to be but Lily was sleeping for the moment.]

[ when they arrive, makoto's beside himself in slightly collapsed disconcertion — the same unease he'd felt upon seeing those two strange figures once the floods receded. he hadn't approached them, hadn't even had a reason to invite doubt or panic. but after finding himself in the wilderness for days on the end, there's a necessity in approaching the unknown, even if his fears won't entirely abate.

they're both fairly intimidating, every creature falling silent as if the world itself shifted to accommodate them, but he approaches the one closest to him, carefully working out the knots in his voice. ]

We climb up one of these trees, I have to get my vessel out it's eye!

[ Though the monster does make a straight dash for Nakigitsune, seeing that he has his sword out too. All of them are the enemies. Turning around to see that the giant lizard is stampeding towards the blade and fox, he looks around trying to find an alternative weapon to battle with. ]

Whoever lived here before must have gone somewhere better, I think. [ a remark worded as more of a question. ] Or it was an emergency, so they all took off in a hurry.

[ he's blanching just at the prospect of feasting on one of those creatures. it's not that he ascribes to any particular ideology while eating, but given that these being usually subsist on the strange fauna of the jungle, makoto really isn't certain if eating them is the best course of action.

he smiles thinly, some meek, watered-down facsimile of his usual grin, trying to dissuade her against the option of seeking out her own death. if worst comes down to worse, he'll tag along, but he obviously won't be able to afford her much help besides serving as a meat shield.

on second though, he really should have asked scheduled a sparring session in advance. ]

[ makoto may or may not have spent the last fifteen minutes trudging through the indiscriminate wilderness under less than favorable conditions, shirt sticking damp to his back, perspiration running in hot rivulets from his temples and leaving him a state of muddled agitation (likely the same sort haru experienced when denied access to a pool). the insect-like creatures he was inflicted with continue to skitter about him a useless frenzy even when makoto exits the forest, taking a seat on the rock right beside edgeworth, absentmindedly swatting at his tormentors, who remained conflicted between pursuing him or the happy bird strutting behind his companion. huh. ]

Hello! It sure is surprising meeting you here. But I'm glad! I was hoping I'd be able to meet you again.

[ hand lifted in an awkward wave, he breaks the ice with a warm, if exhausted, smile. ]

I'm Makoto. Makoto Tachibana. Thank you for saving me before, during the flood.

PHASE I

[This was one heck of a way to return to Cerealia. She had been missing to some degree and when she first appeared, ready to run to Hirari and the others...she was suddenly in the air. Transported by some means she's quick to start a chant allowing her to land with ease where they arrive next.

Looking with wide eyes, Botan is completely uncertain of what is happening...just what did she miss?

Wary of the flowers and plant life she takes a deep breath, luckily being of the element air. In her wanders she discovers a patch of interesting flowers.]

Beautiful... [Still she needs to find the others...she notices some others that are scattered where they land. Hurrying to them in case they need first aid.]

Are you okay?

PHASE III

[Botan doesn't mind much of the wildlife, most of it seems content with her too. There are some perks to her calming nature but still he best find is the village. She wouldn't want to steal from the dead but she will at least make use of some items before she returns them.

Attempting to make a fire outside of one of the homes, she drops the gathered wood she found. It was surprisingly muggy on this world, it was rather humid in temperature though so it makes sense. Still she goes to setting up some of the sticks using some small items she found.

When it goes silent, the shikigami looks around...wary of it. Anyone that approaches might find her clearly on edge.]

PHASE I (arrival + status effects.)
[ for the first time in his life, makoto figured something was up at least three seconds before his sense of gravity abruptly subverted for levitation like a cheap parlor trick.

his plummet into the depths of the wilderness is no less unnerving, dropping him right into a sprawling mass of flowers, stems bent and petals wilting around (instead of beneath) him under bizarre putrefaction. and that might've been the end of it, if he hadn't inadvertently riled up the perpetrator(s): a swarm of moths hell-bent on attaching themselves to his flesh, leaving strangely itching rashes like a premature case of hives.

having invoked the ire of the entire insect collective in the nearby vicinity, he takes the option left to him and sprints like he's got the devil riding on his heels. taking off like a frazzled shot, however, doesn't stop him from wrenching up third-party casualties victims along the way, whether forcibly yanking them forward or scooping them up (being six foot even does have its pros and cons). ]

I'm sorry, we need to go!

[ watch out for the vines snagging at them along the way like an r-18 doujinshi. makoto can't help his preternatural clumsiness, so any misstep could mean certain death.

or maybe you've encountered makoto an hour or two after his harrowing ordeal (read: bitten by a sundry variety of arthropods) instead, only to find him: ]

    a. suffocating hugging the life out of you in complete mortification, if his face blotching deep red is anything to go by. life's rough.
    b. inexplicably trying to punch the living daylights out of you. granted, makoto's still blubbering with panicked apologies as if he currently lacks motor control over his fisted hands, but that doesn't stop the pummeling???
    c. toppling you over like a shoujo protagonist, complete with an empathetic groan issuing out of his throat as you both slide sideways ... into an inconvenient ravine ...

PHASE III/BONUS COMBO (maneater.mp3)
[ discovering the village, unfortunately, didn't counteract the nascent fear thrumming in his pulse. he'd spent some time alternating between trudging through the region and fiddling around with his cerevice to contact his friends in vain. makoto eventually ditches his efforts once the evening collapses darkly around him, finding refuge in one of the derelict homes with an intact roof, if lacking any doors or windows to stave off the mugginess.

anyone passing by might hear him (apparently) prattling off to himself since makoto has about as much subtlety as a beached whale. his complaints echo voluminously for several meters. ]

You don't have to stick so close. I don't taste good! I haven't gotten anything to eat since I arrived here.

[ upon closer inspection, he can be easily sighted with his head tucked into his arms with a horde of peculiar creatures picking on him, roosting on his shoulders, snatching into the fabric of his clothes. the general collective seems to have taken offense at his unresponsiveness, having foregone flicking them off when they latched onto his scalp in a flooding pandemic of flitting wings and sharp teeth.

at periodic intervals makoto yelps, voice gone spasmodic with battering indignation. ]

Ouch! Not the ear, okay ...

[ someone, please save him. ]

PHASE IV (cat prompt, for shame ...)
[ being a incorrigible lover of cats and their feline relatives, makoto couldn't deny the appreciable irony in being targeted by one first-hand. he'd only had a couple seconds of lurching momentum prior to finding himself on the receiving end of a distending jaw, claws snapped out to grab —

... nothing, as he'd fled, crashing through the underbrush for the fifth time that day. by some feat of haphazard skill and blighted luck, he's ended up stranded in a tree, watching the jungle cat prowl around and scale halfway up the trunk with no signs of skidding down anytime soon, staring back at him with a beady-eyed resolve. ]

    I can't take this.

[ makoto's laughing, small hiccups of self-effacing humor, but it's mostly the hysterics kicking in. at least he hasn't suffered a nervous breakdown yet. small blessings. ]
