It is a quiet day in mostly reconstructed Cerealia. The robots are busily running into walls that were not there before, the Cybuddy bees are buzzing...and CERES has still not said a word. Attempting to contact them still gets the User Offline error. Strange...

But who cares if CERES is offline? After all, they are the cruel and tyrannical captors. A Cerealia without them must be better than a Cerealia with them. So there's nothing to worry about on this fine, peaceful day. Or, at least, that's what it seems like, when suddenly there's a voice in everyone's head. A chosen few may recognize the voice, for they will have heard it before, but to the vast majority, it is brand new.

Looks like someone has been saved, and a reward granted... and no, you don't have a single choice in the matter.

Your heroism will be remembered, lost and stolen souls.

You have saved me, and so now, I shall save you.

All of you.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ day one ] It happens so quickly. One moment you’re in the colony, going about your daily life, and the next, you’re… floating. A moment later, every player character from the colony is transported with a wisp of fresh air to...somewhere very very different. The distance is far, but it is covered in what must have only been a scant moment, and it’s clear somehow, especially to air characters, that it was Caeli’s doing that brought everyone there.

There, naturally, being right in the middle of the jungle.

Everyone is then unceremoniously dropped. You may land on a tree, or in a patch of poison mushrooms (no really, look out for the colorful plant life, it’s probably poisonous) or in the river. There are some strange insects of all sorts and types, some of which have some uncomfortable side effects if you’re bitten, such as swelling or the uncomfortable urge to go hug the nearest person, and there are strange flowers everywhere, some of which glow only in the dark of night or the shade of trees. It is dreadfully humid, however, and a little hard to breathe--unless you’re of the air disposition.

Either way, you’ve certainly landed somewhere fantastical, so take some time to get used to your surroundings. It shouldn’t take too long to find everyone else, hopefully.

PHASE II

[ day two ] Of course, this far into the jungle, and making this much noise, it was only inevitable before some company was attracted.

Some are clearly dangerous, some are peaceful as can be and some are somewhere in between; approach at your own risk.

Either way, these monsters are all drawn to larger groups of people and a lot of noise, so it may be best to keep quiet...though the ones that keep their distance may be even more concerning.

Everyone is certainly being stalked at one point or another in the jungle -- and at night, there are eyes watching from the darker parts of the trees.

PHASE III

[ day three ] But perhaps if you follow some of those monsters deeper into the woods, you will stumble across an old, run down village of sorts. It looks as though time and the jungle has overtaken it. Exploring it will reveal plenty of homes that were clearly lived in however, by families and by people of all sorts.

There are empty rooms, covered in dust, and a central village fire, long gone out.

Small knick-knacks and various objects can be found… if you want to steal from the dead, you know. It’s a little rude. It appears they led a simple, peaceful life, however; most notably, there is no technology to be found.

And if The Bridge catches you doing it, she will look incredibly sad and ask you to put everything back in its proper place before she goes back to looking very irritated at Caeli. You may overhear words about how this “isn’t the right place” and Caeli’s unrepentant, “It is only a few hundred miles”. Looks like something went a little wrong in the transportation process.

Time to camp out for the night, perhaps. And your CereVices don’t get any reception out here, so no surfing the internet for you. If you try to connect to the internet, for some reason the device starts playing a song. Was that programmed…?

PHASE IV

[ day four ] By the fourth day, it’s pretty clear that you’re going to be stuck here for a bit. Pestering Caeli or Maris gets nothing, while the Bridge still can’t be approached for pretty good reasons. So… you’ll just have to make the best of it while they figure out their next approach.

Time to figure out how to camp with few supplies and even fewer nice places to sleep. Maybe try to make a fire (though it’s incredibly difficult, considering how muggy it is here) or try to find some bugs to eat (ew gross).

Of course, you can try hunting, but the prey doesn’t look too friendly, so be careful not to become the prey yourself. The same goes for fishing, it seems.

Some of the trees are poisonous, some of the grasses will cause unfortunate rashes, and some vines will lash out to grab at people (especially colorful ones); basically, this is an entirely untamed alien jungle, so it may not be the fun camping trip you'd like.

Time to work together to survive out here, at least for a little longer.

It’s your time to shine. This is Person Versus Wild.

PHASE V

[ day six ] On day six, the jungle goes utterly silent.

The monsters and animals disappear. The extra friends poof away hastily and suddenly. Maris and the Bridge fall silent (though Caeli admittedly continues floating there as ever). If anyone approaches them to ask, they'll just say that "she is coming".

And soon, she does appear. She moves slowly, lacking in feet; they are roots, as though that of a tree. Nonetheless, she has no troubles with moving forward, slow bit by bit. She does not speak, not at first, and behind her, trotting lightly through the woods, there is another. Both feel strongly of spiritual energy, just like Maris and Caeli. And eventually, after observing the people gathered, they can be spoken to.

BONUS

[ day ??? ] After spending some time in the jungle, emotions might be running a bit amuck. And those emotions might bring some unexpected...friends. Yes, let's go with friends.

Because if a character is typically grumpy, gloomy, stoic, lineface, or anything along those lines, they may find themselves followed by a bright, happy bird. That bird feeds off of those emotions, and will just cheerfully follow around any lineface character for as long as possible. Or until they smile. The birds are otherwise harmless, chirping happily every now and then and following them around like a friendly shadow.

Happy, cheerful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, energetic characters, on the other hand, will soon find themselves followed by... a different friend. Or maybe a handful of them. It depends on how cheerful they are. Either way, these creatures feed off of happiness and fun, but they will also chew on hair or an ear if they're allowed to get that close, making horrifying, chittering noises as they follow anyone who is in a good mood.

Well, I suppose those things would make things a little more cumbersome.

What happened? Was it CERES who did that to you?

[ At Kagari's response, Gino just makes an irritated huff of a sound in his throat. This has not exactly been the most fun thing he's done in his life. There are other things that have definitely been worse (the Sasayama case, for example), but this is grating on his nerves. Half of him wants to be irresponsible and just sit in the middle of the jungle until CERES got its act together and put them back in the colony.

The other half though, is a little too dedicated to even consider that option more than a flight of fancy.

Akane brings up a good point, being able to rest here for a little while. It wasn't in the best condition, but it was more optimal than spending another night in the jungle. He's about to agree and answer a negatory when Shinya appears. Of course he would've beaten them here. Of course he would look like he's right at home.

And of course he'd have to make a jab at Gino's expense. Already feeling cross, Gino just stares him down, lips pressed in a line. ]

Regardless of whether it'd been raided or not, it provides us with more control over protection. This way, we can tell where something is coming from, instead of remaining on edge persistently. [ He doesn't know about the rest of you, but he's drained from that alone. ]

Getting enough rest will put us in a better place; exhaustion leads to mistakes.

[Illidan dashed through the forest after his prey, letting the exhilaration and thrill of the hunt drive him. Too long had he spent confined to that city, too long had he been forced to do little more than sit and bide his time. But now, now he could resume at least some form of familiar reprieve. It was no demon he hunted, but the prey was a worthy enough challenge. He moved swiftly and silently, cloaked in shadow in his pursuit.

However, he made the fatal mistake of fixating on his prey, overconfident as he was, and neglected to keep an eye out for others in the area. Thus he doesn't realize he's in the way of someone's shot until he suddenly feels a harsh burning sensation shoot up his thigh, which caused him to go crashing down to the ground.

His first reaction upon seeing the familiar arrow was to try and pull it out, however the nature of Tyrande's powers contrasted his own in a way that attempting such merely caused a burning sensation. Thus he was forced to simply let it go without removing it, while uttering a string of cusses no good little Kaldorei should know. With the initial shock from being hit fading, he scrambled to his feet, shifting his weight to his good leg, and began looking around for either Tyrande or something he could use to facilitate removing the arrow with. Still cussing.

[ It would indeed be a very grand place to begin, but as she focuses on his clothes instead, well. That is what Kasen is focusing on too, and the fact that she does the same is something he finds gently endearing. Clearly, this is a young lady that knows what's important!

(You still have time to leave, Mary.)

But despite his thoughts, he smiles more kindly, then laughs warmly and gently. He's endeared by where her priorities lie, but he's also genuinely concerned that it's a bit more than that. ]

Oya, oya... It is quite all right! [ more or less ] Why, cleaning them up is only a matter of laundry, ultimately. It is not just that, is it?
braavado: (I've got nothing)

[personal profile] braavado 2015-10-02 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I noticed that. [Korra stares at the belongings, left to collect dust for so long.]

We don't know that much about the people who used to live here--CERES likes to keep a tight lid on stuff like this, I think. Wouldn't surprise me if they did something when they came here.
braavado: (But it's just a ferry ride away)

[personal profile] braavado 2015-10-02 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Korra winces in sympathy when she gets a good look at Celty's hand.]

Gotcha. That sort of looks like the rash I had when I touched some of the yellow mushrooms the first day. Guess it's just going to be a game to figure out which things around here are safe.
liberalarts: (totally read that as "Fuck Titties")

where's kashuu tbh he didn't sign up to babysit yams

[personal profile] liberalarts 2015-10-02 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ In this moment over any other, Kasen understands the hard life that Kashuu leads. ]

Ah, goodness...

[ Where to even start? Kasen has to wonder, because he can tell that Yamato is genuinely trying to be considerate and helpful, and he hardly wants to criticize him for that. After all, who knows how long they would be stuck here! They may just need all of the help foraging that they can get!

(What a terrible thought, though. To be trapped here so long that they must forage? Surely not...)

Kasen ends up shaking his head, and he steps closer to grab at Yamato's sleeves to asses just how many of the dangerous mushrooms he's collected. ]

No, I don't think that will help, Yamato-kun... I can't be completely sure, since I'm hardly a sword of the forest, but! I am fairly certain these are poisonous. I'm afraid we shouldn't be eating them at all. [ or touching them but he's not going to rub it in ] How many did you find?
liberalarts: (ALL RIGHT YOU LITTLE SHITS)

[personal profile] liberalarts 2015-10-02 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I beg your pardon?

[ Kasen looks positively scandalized, because wow??? He wasn't ready for this rudeness to start, and being the refined, elegant sword he is, he's always taken aback by poor manners. Or at least, that's definitely what he would say. ]

Well! I certainly shan't be lending you any aid now!

[ don't fall for it hawke he couldn't help anyways ]

braavado: (No offense but...)

[personal profile] braavado 2015-10-02 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Korra takes pity on him and doesn't mention the frankly embarrassing scream, but he can probably spot the amusement on her face anyway. Not that she's trying to hide it.]

Okay, Katsura. [She tugs him onto his feet, quirking a brow at him.] You sure you didn't get injured. Your face looks kind of red.

[...okay, so she's not above teasing him a little.]
liberalarts: (of fucking course you do)

[personal profile] liberalarts 2015-10-02 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
As am I for you.

[ He bows his head lightly to assert that he is indeed glad that one of his comrades hasn't befallen a terrible fate, but he's still grumpy about the whole situation. Kasen rolls the ribbon lightly between his fingers, then sighs as he bows his head more deeply and passes Namazuo the ribbon. He's trusting someone else with his hair, but it's probably only because he doesn't have a mirror to make it perfect. ]

Please... Do you have any idea what just happened?

[ Then, after a moment, he adds: ] ...You fell in the river, I take it?
braavado: (But it's just a ferry ride away)

[She pauses beside him, scanning the area for more of those vines. Once she's sure the coast is clear, she reaches down and scoops up his hat.]

That was close. Those vines are getting better at sneaking up on people like that. [The hat she offers back to him now, along with a helping hand up if he needs it.] You okay? Sorry if I surprised you there.

[ Kasen had really only glanced over (or so he thought), because to himself, he's definitely thinking something along the lines of "I'm certainly glad that I wasn't dropped into a river." He's already had bad experience with being dropped into unfortunate places, so to not have two in such a short time is a relief.

Yet he's quite suddenly and very rudely addressed, which gets Kasen to naturally bristle slightly, He's a very proper, elegant looking person, and he takes a very particular and personal offense to rudeness. He's a prat, basically. ]

[ Looking for the rest of his comrades is proving no easy task in the jungle. Kasen isn't actually suited for this sort of work anyways, since every time a vine brushes against him, he only thinks of how its getting his clothes dirty, and honestly, he's very slow going through the jungle at all to avoid his clothes getting ripped. It seems Kasen's scouting abilities decrease significantly when there's a possibility he might get dirty... But the local grandpa is lucky in that Kasen is nearby when he hears Mikazuki's voice, and as such, he heads towards it without hesitation. That's at least one more sword accounted for, after all!

Though when he steps out towards the tree Mikazuki is stuck in, he doesn't actually see him at first. He instead sees a large animal heading towards Mikazuki's vessel, and that gets Kasen to pause in surprise for a moment. It doesn't quite occur to him that Mikazuki might be stuck in the tree above, so he's wondering what even happened here. Did he turn back into a sword?? Is he a ghost??? It's a mystery to be solved shortly, though he expresses his confusion by speaking Mikazuki's name. ]

Mikazuki-san?

[ Though as the animal turns its attention on Kasen, it's with a growl, and that's enough for Kasen to shift to a defensive stance with his hand on his own sword. He won't draw and aggravate it unnecessarily, since he's hoping it might just leave, but... If he has to kill it, he will.

does this count as sinning ]

[This is the coolest part of the jungle.]

Well... I agree that it is warm here. [In fact, his tongue is lolling out as his fur dries and he's hit by the heat. Listen. He's in animal form. It's fine if he has to pant.]

But I would take a forest over the mountains. I'm used to forests more. [Even if this one's a jungle.]

Phase II

i. The Artist

[Rather than hunting, Sai can be seen up on a tree sketching the unique wildlife below.]

ii. The Ninja

[Late at night, Sai sits in front of a small fire. He'd come across a small group earlier and stuck with them for the night. It's his turn to keep watch, so he sends out a slew of inky mice to monitor the perimeter. Each sends him information throughout his post until one suddenly destroyed causing the ninja to immediately stand up, dark eyes peering into the darkness ahead as the image the little mouse sent him via their chakra link before its destruction lingers in his mind's eye.]

There's something out there.

Phase III: Colors of the Wind

[Late at night, amid the edge of the old village Sai can be found with his CereVice replaying a certan song while talking to one of his inky foo dogs.]

--think I have enough colors with me.

Bonus: The Creeper's Reflection

[When Sai runs into a new person while exploring the jungle, they might notice a little creepy fairy hovering around him, nothing like his ink creations. When Sai runs into someone new, he immediately puts on a cheerful smile before greeting them. When he does, the fairy draws closer to him, hovering hear his ear as if ready to take a bite out of it. Sai tries to ignore it as he greets the newcomer.]
