It is a quiet day in mostly reconstructed Cerealia. The robots are busily running into walls that were not there before, the Cybuddy bees are buzzing...and CERES has still not said a word. Attempting to contact them still gets the User Offline error. Strange...

But who cares if CERES is offline? After all, they are the cruel and tyrannical captors. A Cerealia without them must be better than a Cerealia with them. So there's nothing to worry about on this fine, peaceful day. Or, at least, that's what it seems like, when suddenly there's a voice in everyone's head. A chosen few may recognize the voice, for they will have heard it before, but to the vast majority, it is brand new.

Looks like someone has been saved, and a reward granted... and no, you don't have a single choice in the matter.

Your heroism will be remembered, lost and stolen souls.

You have saved me, and so now, I shall save you.

All of you.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ day one ] It happens so quickly. One moment you’re in the colony, going about your daily life, and the next, you’re… floating. A moment later, every player character from the colony is transported with a wisp of fresh air to...somewhere very very different. The distance is far, but it is covered in what must have only been a scant moment, and it’s clear somehow, especially to air characters, that it was Caeli’s doing that brought everyone there.

There, naturally, being right in the middle of the jungle.

Everyone is then unceremoniously dropped. You may land on a tree, or in a patch of poison mushrooms (no really, look out for the colorful plant life, it’s probably poisonous) or in the river. There are some strange insects of all sorts and types, some of which have some uncomfortable side effects if you’re bitten, such as swelling or the uncomfortable urge to go hug the nearest person, and there are strange flowers everywhere, some of which glow only in the dark of night or the shade of trees. It is dreadfully humid, however, and a little hard to breathe--unless you’re of the air disposition.

Either way, you’ve certainly landed somewhere fantastical, so take some time to get used to your surroundings. It shouldn’t take too long to find everyone else, hopefully.

PHASE II

[ day two ] Of course, this far into the jungle, and making this much noise, it was only inevitable before some company was attracted.

Some are clearly dangerous, some are peaceful as can be and some are somewhere in between; approach at your own risk.

Either way, these monsters are all drawn to larger groups of people and a lot of noise, so it may be best to keep quiet...though the ones that keep their distance may be even more concerning.

Everyone is certainly being stalked at one point or another in the jungle -- and at night, there are eyes watching from the darker parts of the trees.

PHASE III

[ day three ] But perhaps if you follow some of those monsters deeper into the woods, you will stumble across an old, run down village of sorts. It looks as though time and the jungle has overtaken it. Exploring it will reveal plenty of homes that were clearly lived in however, by families and by people of all sorts.

There are empty rooms, covered in dust, and a central village fire, long gone out.

Small knick-knacks and various objects can be found… if you want to steal from the dead, you know. It’s a little rude. It appears they led a simple, peaceful life, however; most notably, there is no technology to be found.

And if The Bridge catches you doing it, she will look incredibly sad and ask you to put everything back in its proper place before she goes back to looking very irritated at Caeli. You may overhear words about how this “isn’t the right place” and Caeli’s unrepentant, “It is only a few hundred miles”. Looks like something went a little wrong in the transportation process.

Time to camp out for the night, perhaps. And your CereVices don’t get any reception out here, so no surfing the internet for you. If you try to connect to the internet, for some reason the device starts playing a song. Was that programmed…?

PHASE IV

[ day four ] By the fourth day, it’s pretty clear that you’re going to be stuck here for a bit. Pestering Caeli or Maris gets nothing, while the Bridge still can’t be approached for pretty good reasons. So… you’ll just have to make the best of it while they figure out their next approach.

Time to figure out how to camp with few supplies and even fewer nice places to sleep. Maybe try to make a fire (though it’s incredibly difficult, considering how muggy it is here) or try to find some bugs to eat (ew gross).

Of course, you can try hunting, but the prey doesn’t look too friendly, so be careful not to become the prey yourself. The same goes for fishing, it seems.

Some of the trees are poisonous, some of the grasses will cause unfortunate rashes, and some vines will lash out to grab at people (especially colorful ones); basically, this is an entirely untamed alien jungle, so it may not be the fun camping trip you'd like.

Time to work together to survive out here, at least for a little longer.

It’s your time to shine. This is Person Versus Wild.

PHASE V

[ day six ] On day six, the jungle goes utterly silent.

The monsters and animals disappear. The extra friends poof away hastily and suddenly. Maris and the Bridge fall silent (though Caeli admittedly continues floating there as ever). If anyone approaches them to ask, they'll just say that "she is coming".

And soon, she does appear. She moves slowly, lacking in feet; they are roots, as though that of a tree. Nonetheless, she has no troubles with moving forward, slow bit by bit. She does not speak, not at first, and behind her, trotting lightly through the woods, there is another. Both feel strongly of spiritual energy, just like Maris and Caeli. And eventually, after observing the people gathered, they can be spoken to.

BONUS

[ day ??? ] After spending some time in the jungle, emotions might be running a bit amuck. And those emotions might bring some unexpected...friends. Yes, let's go with friends.

Because if a character is typically grumpy, gloomy, stoic, lineface, or anything along those lines, they may find themselves followed by a bright, happy bird. That bird feeds off of those emotions, and will just cheerfully follow around any lineface character for as long as possible. Or until they smile. The birds are otherwise harmless, chirping happily every now and then and following them around like a friendly shadow.

Happy, cheerful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, energetic characters, on the other hand, will soon find themselves followed by... a different friend. Or maybe a handful of them. It depends on how cheerful they are. Either way, these creatures feed off of happiness and fun, but they will also chew on hair or an ear if they're allowed to get that close, making horrifying, chittering noises as they follow anyone who is in a good mood.

Phase I

[ One moment she’s in the colony and the next Tyrande found herself making a crash landing high up in a tree. There was familiarity in the smell and the position she found herself in. Forests, jungles, nature, all of it was her world and a world she felt much more comfortable with. Except there was something strange about this place, perhaps it was the fact that it was slightly harder to breath or maybe it was just that it was not any jungle she had known. It was difficult for her to tell and it was hardly the most important matter she had to attend to right now. First she needed to get out of the tree and then she needed to survey her surroundings.

Without hesitation she moved to the edge of the branch she was on and dropped down, landing without making a sound. ]

Dori’thur, I need your help. [ A tiny bit of concentration brought the spirit owl out. The owl fluttered above her and then landed on her shoulder. ] Will you scout for me? [ The owl made a brief and quiet noise an then left his perch. He looked to Tyrande for a second ]

Shaha Lor’ma and be careful. [ With that the owl flew off and Tyrande began her own exploration on foot. ]

Phase IV

[ Tyrande moved swiftly through the trees as she pursued her prey. Her bow was drawn as she weaved around fallen branches and vines that might have tripped the untrained eye. Each step fell silently onto the ground as she kept on the trail. The creature was not far and food needed to be found. A crunching sound could be heard followed by something akin to a low growl. That had to be it ahead.

She stopped in her tracks and channeled her energy into her bow creating an arrow to strike at the beast. Or at what she thought was the beast. She had not counted on any others having been around. She'd heard no other sounds, but this jungle was strange and very foreign to her. ]

Elune be with me. [ She released the searing arrow in the direction that she believed the beast to be in and then moved towards what she had shot. ]

[ Once Nanoha had committed to the idea of hunting, getting around to it wasn't especially difficult. She wasn't especially skilled at it, but she made up for it with sheer magical ability. Find an animal with a search spell, get closer by flying after it, and take it out by launching a magical blast at it once it was within sight.

Not that she strictly needed visual confirmation to shoot something, but when you're firing a kill spell, you had better know what exactly you're firing at.

It's crude, and probably a waste of mana, but it works, and she floats towards the fallen wolf-like creature. ]

It looks like it got pierced by magical arrows from two different directions...

[ Does that mean someone else is nearby? ]

[ A look of huffy indignation crosses Tyrande's face as she moves in the direction of the fallen creature. She had not expected to run into another here let alone someone after the same prey. A quick glance was thrown to the fallen wolf and then her focus turned to the young woman. ]

So it seems. That was an impressive kill.

[ Nanoha looks up at the night elf, and is struck by her beauty. It doesn't happen often, but nobody expects to just run into a purple magic elf. ]

A-ah, thanks. I don't hunt often, so I was a little worried.

[ Wait... The purple skin, glowing eyes, she's seen something like this before... ]

[ She looks down at her and meets her eyes for a second. ]

Is there something further you wish to say? [ There must be a reason for the staring right? Or she was simply a rude human. That was also an option. A likely option if she were honest and knew much of humans. ]
zenryokuzenkai: (embarrassed)

[personal profile] zenryokuzenkai 2015-10-05 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! I'm sorry! [ How embarrassing, to be caught staring. ]

I was just thinking you resembled someone I know. Have you met an Illidan before?

[ Just because they're both purple-skinned elvish types...? ]

[ She tenses for a split second before lifting her head up. ] I suppose you could say I have met him. We did grow up together. How do you know him? [ Why do little children looking humans know him? [
zenryokuzenkai: (ara ara)

[personal profile] zenryokuzenkai 2015-10-08 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see! He's a rather... intense person. [ She doesn't want to comment too much about Illidan. It's easy to see from her reaction to the question and how he has, y'know, demon horns that their relationship probably isn't the easiest one. ]

I met him during the charity event. He ended up on my team and we threw magic at enemy teams.

[Illidan dashed through the forest after his prey, letting the exhilaration and thrill of the hunt drive him. Too long had he spent confined to that city, too long had he been forced to do little more than sit and bide his time. But now, now he could resume at least some form of familiar reprieve. It was no demon he hunted, but the prey was a worthy enough challenge. He moved swiftly and silently, cloaked in shadow in his pursuit.

However, he made the fatal mistake of fixating on his prey, overconfident as he was, and neglected to keep an eye out for others in the area. Thus he doesn't realize he's in the way of someone's shot until he suddenly feels a harsh burning sensation shoot up his thigh, which caused him to go crashing down to the ground.

His first reaction upon seeing the familiar arrow was to try and pull it out, however the nature of Tyrande's powers contrasted his own in a way that attempting such merely caused a burning sensation. Thus he was forced to simply let it go without removing it, while uttering a string of cusses no good little Kaldorei should know. With the initial shock from being hit fading, he scrambled to his feet, shifting his weight to his good leg, and began looking around for either Tyrande or something he could use to facilitate removing the arrow with. Still cussing.

[ A string of curses in her native tongue came out as she saw what had happened. This was not something that should have happened. There was no reason for either of them to be so careless and yet here they were. She moved swiftly to his side with a minor look of concern on her face. Luckily he had no way of seeing this look of concern and thus he would have no way of knowing that she might be concerned. ]

Illidan! What were you doing out here? [ Of course this was his fault and not her carelessness. It was completely his fault. ] How far did it go in? Let me see. [ There was a hint of concern in her voice along with a good deal of annoyance. ]

[He hobbled as he turned to Tyrande, keeping the weight off the leg, looking very very very displeased.]

What was I doing out here? I was hunting, what were you doing?! Taking over for Maiev in her absence?[He hissed as he tried to take the arrow out again, but again he failed, which only served to agitate him more.] It went far enough.

[personal profile] anudora 2015-10-04 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ The mention of Maiev brought more annoyance to her face and she tensed consideringly. Once again she found herself feeling lucky that he could not see any of those things. He would not know that he'd bothered her by bringing the woman up nor that the suggestion bothered her. The only indication of anything was simply a tightening of her voice. ]

Hunting as well. I would have been very successful had someone not gotten in my way. [ And that someone was him. She swatted at his hand as he tried to pull it out again. ]

Stop that. Let me help.

I got in your way? I was hunting it first!

[He limped a few steps back and turned so the the wound was facing away from Tyrande. He was wary, even with the feelings he had for her, he remained distrustful. Letting him out was her greatest mistake after all.]

What are you going to do?
anudora: (pic#9551764)

[personal profile] anudora 2015-10-04 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You know this? That you were here first? [ She let out a huff followed by a chastising sound. ] Of course you do. If you did not you would still insist on it.

[ She knelt down and put a hand to the arrow on his leg. ] This will only hurt briefly, Illidan. Brace yourself.

I would have noticed you, had you been hunting it, and avoided you.

[He seemed hesitant to comply, shifting as though he were contemplating whether or not it was a good idea. Well, obviously it was something he should comply with, but between his pride and paranoia, he looked as though he were almost ready to run for it]

I can manage it on my-

[Well that was an interesting display, and not one Rei was sure she'd ever seen. Slipping out of the tree, she walked closer, hoisting a large gym bag over her shoulder and studying the Spirit Owl as it departed.

Two crows squawked and drifted out of the trees with her, lighting on Rei's shoulders as she approached the Night Elf.]

A familiar?
anudora: (pic#9551770)

[personal profile] anudora 2015-10-04 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
A companion. [ She corrected gently as she looked at the ravens that landed upon Rei's shoulders. ] Dori'thur is my companion, a spirit owl and a dear friend. [ There was a gentle smile on her face as she looked up to where Dori'thur had flown to. If he could not find something of this place then none could. She had trust in her companion. ]

Yours are familiars?

I do.

[The two birds stare back at Tyrande, eyes glittering with an unnatural intellect. They aren't simple animals, they're actually Rei's own guardians, the goddesses of Mars twin moons. If Tyrande is blessed with any supernatural sight...they very likely burn brightly.]

And no, they didn't. I just came home one day and they were waiting for me, but that was last week. Shortly after you arrived, actually.

[Someone judging Jade? Perish the thought. He does have a very formal stance which speaks of his life in the military, well that and the military uniform that he's always wearing. He's only gathered a few stains here and there from the dirt and the mud, but he otherwise looks oddly unmarred. And his expression at the moment is primarily a somewhat neutral-looking business face. If he's feeling any emotions, they ain't making it to his face right now. And, he may be looking right back at her to see what he can assess about her.]

Is that so? That's quite valuable in the current situation. [He strokes at his chin lightly in thought.] Do you intend to keep any findings to yourself, or are you planning to share with the class? [He's mostly spoken in a formal manner, but some hints of sarcasm leak into his last words.]
