[well, now is as good of a time as any to make an inappropriate joke, right? granted, it's a joke that has some basis, given the context...
...but there's also no telling how it'll be received, given how this morning started. he tilts his head way back, probably making it impossible for flynn to do much with his hair—but enough to get an upside-down view of flynn's face. gone is the distant, serious expression; it's been replaced by a teasing smirk that would more typically be expected of yuri.]
What do you think? Contagious from mouth-to-mouth contact? Sounds more like a nasty virus than a curse if you put it that way. [but it's not really wrong. there's not much accounting for how his arm got broken, but most everything else was connected to a certain string of events that they've still only narrowly addressed.
not that yuri really intends on addressing it deeply. but he takes that aspect of the situation lightly enough that he can crack a joke about it. what happened? it happened, and while he's not expectant (or even necessarily seeking) a follow-up, especially given this most recent scuffle, yuri isn't about to sweep it under the rug completely and pretend it didn't happen. it's in the same vein as any other joke he'd make, whether it's about flynn's uptight nature or the lecherous gazes that raven gives to curvacious women; light and playful, but definitely with an edge.]
no subject
oh. OH. cue a hint of red spreading across his cheeks. leave it to yuri to make a crack at that if given a chance. the most exasperated sigh ever follows within seconds of the blush. addressing the most important issue first.]
Can't you at least give me a warning before suddenly moving your head?
[he IS working on your hair. at least don't make it more difficult, you lazy bum. now onto the second issue, the slightly more uncomfortable one. although uncomfortable, bringing up that part of the night... can't be called a bad idea. acknowledging it while sober and not hungover will eliminate any residual awkwardness. that can only be considered a good thing given their prior tension. laying things out and being on the same page, namely that nothing exists to be angry or upset about, sounds good. a kiss is but a kiss and a kiss with the best friend even more so. ...but talking about intimate stuff... maybe... maybe a snide comment like yuri's will suffice to get across the point. yeah, let's try that.]
And if it is then maybe I should try returning it to you.
[there. point across, right? right. now will yuri finally let him... wait... flynn's realization at what his own commentary implies comes with eyes widening and blush deepening. he successfully made himself blush even harder. good job. he opens his mouth to take that back but promptly closes it, bringing up a hand to rub his temple instead. you know what? he's just... not going to say anything else. between that little comment during the hangover, that oh so embarrassing one that hopefully yuri doesn't remember, and this, talking any more screams bad idea.]
no subject
it's nothing like embarrassment, or even surprise that flynn would make a suggestion like that. yuri knows all too well that even with zero intent to actually make good on a threat like that, flynn would say it just for the comeback. but when the comeback is followed up by a very explicit realization of the implications that go with it... well, how else is yuri supposed to react?
he's laughing. he's laughing really hard—probably a lot harder than he has in a while. and this isn't the sort of forced laughter that probably should come with the fact that they were at each other's throats not even ten minutes prior. this is loud, boisterous laughter that makes his shoulder's quake. if yuri wasn't expecting anything from their drunken endeavor before, he's really not expecting any kind of recipriocation now. the embarrassment on flynn's face is so real, so amusing, so... flynn that he really just can't help himself at all.]
You look like an Egg Bear that walked right into a barrier... [he manages to say between his laughs. it's probably a little overboard, but man. it's funny. flynn had walked right into the trap yuri had almost unintentionally set. he knew that it would probably garner some kind of embarrassed reaction, but he didn't expect a retort followed by a realization of words so shocking he'd turned himself into a blonde tomato.
at least his mood's a little lighter, even as his laughter subsides slighty. but he's definitely not getting back into a position to have flynn finish his hair quite yet—not when he's about to lose his balance and fall backwards completely, at least.]
no subject
S-shut up.
[so eloquent a response. then again, how else is he supposed to respond after getting called that. what the hell sort of a comparison is that even?? an eggbear that walked into a barrier... only from the mind of yuri lowell. two choices present themselves about what move to make next. he can either take the taunting with grumping or retaliate. flynn being flynn and this being yuri (a yuri close to dying of laughter COME ON IT WAS NOT THAT FUNNY) means only one is acceptable, namely the latter.
only one question remains: which way to go about doing so? two instant thoughts pop up. the first is plucking a hair. it'd get the point across to stop moving that damn head of his like that. but then there's option b, the option of making good on that embarrassing comment. chances are, that would not be expected at all and would likely have the bonus effect of shutting the stupid hyena up. the way yuri is angled right now would make easy enough to lean over and do just that. hmm... well, yuri seems to be fine with happened the other night and is probably about the least likely person to take a kiss the wrong way.
hair pull or surprise kiss. painful vengeance or unexpected attack. both good options. this internal debate only takes a few seconds before a verdict is reached. flynn lowers his hand and thoughtfully stares down at the idiot practically in his lap by now. considering all the bad shit that's happened in the past 48 hours, taking that goddamn smirk off his face and putting a stop to that laugh sound nice. fine, what the hell. yuri wanted him to act less uptight so why not grant that wish? angling his head a little (because this is a bit of an awkward angle but a workable one) and at a moment when yuri's not paying too much attention, flynn takes action to give the curse back via locking their lips together.]
no subject
it probably shouldn't be surprising that three times in a row, he's more or less lost to flynn; that's the way things have always been, after all. but the feeling of lips pressed to his in one of those brief pauses where his mouth is mostly closed actually comes as a surprise—yuri definitely couldn't have predicted that he'd react this way.
once again, yuri's goaded flynn into doing something ridiculous, though this time, the outcome isn't an expected one. it's only natural that his eyes widen in surprise for a moment as a result, though it's brief. the smile is still tugging at yuri's lips, almost as if they're waiting for flynn to pull back before he tries to say anything.
if flynn is going to be so bold—even if it's just to prove a point—yuri's still got not trouble with obliging. and possibly making it worse by still messing around with him while lip-locked, by way of reaching up and cupping flynn's cheeks. he's not particularly doing anything special to deepen the kiss, but he gets kind of a kick from feeling the warmth of flynn's skin against his palms. at least he's not taking these gestures too seriously, right?
he may wind up taking his curse back, but it isn't exactly like he was expecting to give it up to begin with. that's just the way it goes, even if he's got plenty of fuel to keep messing with flynn once they've parted.]
no subject
on the bright side, they finally do share a similar sentiment on something today. the touch on his cheeks can't be called unpleasant. honestly, it feels nice and might be part of the reason why the kiss continues a little longer than intended. longer though it lasts, the innocence of it doesn't get destroyed. it's far less hungry, far less passionate than the first one and ought to remain as such.
another difference is the lack of flynn's mind being clouded, a factor that means he instantly realizes that yuri's little teasing leads to the man doing an unpleasant balancing act. a hand reaches up and gets placed against his back to help keep him in place. this position is awkward enough so think for once, will you?]
no subject
he barely even knows what the kiss signifies, given the fact that flynn's been content to let it linger. yuri doesn't mind, because he can just roll with things as they are, but what started as a clear declaration of proving a point now feels decidedly more initmate. which—is a bit strange in its way.
they probably need to sort this out to some degree, don't they? especially when they were just exchanged punches a few minutes ago. so yuri finally tilts his head a bit, just enough for their lips to separate.]
You know, Flynn... [his brow arches and a smirk remains on his lips. but now he's pressing his palms with a little more force against flynn's cheeks to force his mouth into a pucker.]
I told you that you had to watch with your unintentional flirting, but you're just getting worse. Now you're an out-and-out tease. What are we gonna do with you?
no subject
...nevermind. the question answers itself quickly enough in two ways: a. yuri not moving away any further and b. yuri's hand remaining as they were. no, not as they were. those hand move from nice territory into 'i am going to punch you, yuri lowell' territory. his own hands occupied and needing to actually speak about this is what prevents another round of super punching. what it doesn't prevent, however, is the most unamused expression ever coming at the lip puckering. he takes back yuri touching his cheeks being nice.]
And just who's holding whose face? If anyone's a tease here, it's you, Yuri.
[the kiss WAS innocent. then the hands came into play. like so much else, all this falls on yuri's shoulders. that said, no move comes to change where those hands are touching nor does any move come to place any distance between them. the irked expression becomes significantly less so. no point exists in dancing around the topic so best to just jump right in.]
...So what now?
[such a simple question but such a loaded question. neither of them seem to mind doing this. neither of them are moving away from the other. neither of them seem to have any real expectation. so... so do they do anything with this?]
no subject
both in the manner of teasing and just because he doesn't mind the physical contact anyway. it's playful and it's fun, but with flynn, it's also comfortable, almost eerily so. most people couldn't weave moods the way they do; they'd effortlessly gone from a blowout fight to a topic switch to something intimate without even blinking.]
Dunno. [he states simply, but yet thoughtful.] I wasn't exactly planning on any of this to begin with.
[he shrugs his shoulders slightly, dropping his hands and letting them rest on his stomach. he leans back a little more to put some more weight on flynn's hands (oops), thinking it over. what now? he's never been good at planning with this kind of thing; yuri's method had always just been to do what felt right until it didn't feel right anymore. so whether that was a single night of making out drunkely on the sofa, or taking a girl back to his room for a few weeks until things fizzled out, he just had a tendency to do things without questioning it.
but could they do that? when they both know that their ideals differ, when they bicker constantly—when the inevitable end will arise when yuri has to go on being a criminal while flynn commands the imperial knights? well, it's something he could worry about later, he guesses.
do what feels right, until it doesn't feel right anymore.]
Guess it depends how much you like consorting with a common criminal. [yuri "true romantic" lowell.]
no subject
consorting with a criminal? that sounds so illicit. if it really were with a criminal, flynn wouldn't have allowed associations as willingly and definitely not those of the more intimate variety. the person easily could use a relationship to manipulate the commandant to their whims. this criminal, however, is one known since age 7. maybe yuri would tease-- no, he would tease about seducing flynn and bending the knights to his whim, but never mean it past a joke.]
Because I already don't consort with you enough as is.
[that comes out in a very matter of fact tone. really, they do hang out a lot, especially recently. they've spent more time around the other in recent weeks then they have in a long time. sure, fights and bickering happen frequently enough, but so do moments of pleasantness and fun. taking it one step further... it doesn't feel like something that'd change what they already have.
not changing anything might hold the most appeal. with yuri, no need to be anything but himself exists. everyone else back home expects perfection. nobles and others desire the status or something akin to a family or the perfect knight lover, all of which require more the commandant rather than the person. none of that matters with yuri. on more than one occasion, being told to knock off the perfect act did happen. factor in the mutual feeling of comfort with the other and attempting something more intimate doesn't have the worst ring to it. flynn pauses briefly before speaking again.]
Doing so more often and adding this aspect to it, well, I can't say I'd be opposed to it. [flynn 'they don't teach us to woo at knight school' scifo, ladies and gentlemen.]
no subject
[it isn't like that sort of response is a totally unexpected one at thing point in the conversation. maybe earlier it could have felt like more of a surprise, but there's something strange and natural about the flow of this conversation.
the fact that they can sit in this position and have this conversation at all—especially when they're in the middle of a very uncertain situation in an unfamiliar environment speaks volumes for them. yuri's content to just relax like this until they really have to get moving, and it doesn't seem like flynn is taking much issue with it, either. in all honesty, it feels like little more than just an extension of how they've always been.]
We don't think about it much and see where it takes us? [he questions, though it sounds more like an idle musing than really inquiring if that's what he should do.
for yuri, this just seems like the right approach. it's not totally lacking in commitment, but it doesn't tie them down and leaves things open. if it works, it works. if it doesn't, then things can go back to how they've always been without it getting weird or uncomfortable. he already knows that no matter what they do, it can't last; their societal status is too different for this to be plausible once they return to terca lumireis. but here? here, those statuses don't matter.
if they can just be the two of them, boys who grew up in the lower quarter and just want to change the world; best friends who can't be separated so easily despite not always seeing eye-to-eye... then it's fine. like this, it's oddly comfortable. he can't be opposed to it when it feels like a natural turn of events.
all the same, he won't commit to this being the most serious of things, nor will he let go of the idea that getting more attached than this will bring anything but trouble later one, when they have to go their separate ways. it's asking for trouble just from this alone, and yuri knows that.
but when has trouble ever stopped yuri from doing something when he enjoyed it, or felt it needed to be done? there's no use in breaking tradition now.]
no subject
everyone may not understand things about flynn, but yuri understands far more than most. sure, he may annoy flynn or interrupt work, but never not understand how much flynn values that work. granted, maybe it is a bad idea to become intimate in light of the argument they had. then again, that argument will likely come up regardless of their level of intimacy and it's not as though that could make it that much worse. ...can it? maybe, but it's them. they'll manage. they've always worked things out in the past. if this ends up changing nothing then it won't change that.
...if they fail to work it out then it will have happened no matter what, after all. please please let them work this out. somehow yuri needs to learn how flawed his line of thinking is and how much he, of all people, does not need to carry that many burdens. one day, they'll continue this discussion and hopefully before yuri feels he needs to add further blood to his hands. the last thing needed is to end up having to really turn their sword against the other.
rather than dwell on that line of thought, flynn gives a small nod, one accompanied by a light smile, instead.]
Yeah, that sounds good.
[will this go anywhere? will it go nowhere? will they be back to being simply best friends after a month? who can say, but no matter where the road leads, it won't be to a bad end. it's them. somethings are different from they were kids. somethings aren't nearly so much. they bicker, they make-up, they joke around, they bring out both the best and the worst from the other, etc. only they could essentially hook up in the middle a jungle after throwing punches and have it feel not only comfortable, but just natural. whatever happens, they'll always be them.]
no subject
and yuri knows that these conflicts they have aren't going to go away after making a decision like this. this decision in itself—it's pretty thoughtless. it comes as the result of a night of drunken actions and not minding the potential for where it can lead. but that doesn't mean it's good or smart, or that they'll be able to make anything of it. he may be determined to make sure things don't deteriorate, but all the same, his knowing that it'll be troublesome and the furthest from something long lasting isn't going to disappear anytime soon. at least, not in some traditional sense. he can lose some of these perks, but having to really turn against flynn isn't something he wants anyway.
they're still best friends, after all.
but these are problems that he shouldn't worry about right now. do what feels right. and what feels right is to roll with this feeling until it doesn't work.]
Not even a protest, huh? [he retorts after a moment with a sly smirk. it's almost flirtatious in its way, but yet still very distinctly yuri. and very distinctly yuri teasing like the ass that he is.]
Man, Flynn... you're just full of surprises this week. Guess you do still have some of that carefree Lower Quarter boy in you, after all. [a truly uptight knight, a noble especially, would never so easily agree to a casual relationship like this. because that's what it is, and he knows that flynn understands what level of commitment he's looking for here. yuri knows he doesn't have to say it aloud, and he knows that no matter how dense flynn can be at times, they're on the same page about things.
after all the things that weigh on them don't suddenly disappear or get better by committing to anything. flynn knowing that makes it a lot easier, and also makes it so that yuri can tease this way, despite everything.]
no subject
but it really has been a week, hasn't it? maybe his model knight behavior took a bit of a backseat more frequently than not. then again, around yuri, doing so tends to feel more permissible. ending up taking their friendship to more intimate levels might have stretched it, but stretching to a degree that isn't bad. behavior like this won't continue for much longer, anyway. once home, all he's allowed to be is a model knight.
one thing that will never change, whether it be here or at home or where ever else, is the fact he has a friend like yuri, status be damned. it isn't a fact he's oblivious to entirely. the council will likely give him lip for it or for associating too much with anyone from the lower quarter; flynn fully plans on telling them to shove it... in more respectful terms, naturally. spinning things in a way like 'fostering relationships between the people and the government or between the guilds and the empire' is easy. everything in his life will planned out and need to be perfect and scrutinized should it not be and all else. the one thing flynn will NOT allow anyone to determine for him is who he associates with.
his friends will be who he deems friends. yuri will always be his friend. anyone who has issue with it? well, that can be the reason why his approval rating ends up being at 95% instead of 100%. this may be why no protesting happens. being friends with yuri or being more than friends with yuri: it's practically the same which makes both perfectly acceptable.
his lips curve into a smirk that mirrors yuri's. no flirty tone accompanies his words, however. flynn is still flynn, sorry to say. that said, flynn being flynn means he can still joke in an unsexy way.]
Or maybe I'm a model knight attempting to put a dangerous criminal on a shorter leash no matter the means.
[dedicated as that would be (if an above and beyond level of dedication), flynn can't claim to be doing so for the sake of the knights. this is something fun and carefree and done without too much thought.
...huh. so. they're officially more than just friends, aren't they?]
no subject
right now, what he needs—maybe what they both need, is something a lot more simplified.
and maybe that's what this casual extension of their friendship counts as. yuri would be hesitant to call it anything but that, despite the conscious decision they've made to extend this to something more intimate. who knows? maybe it's partially just a craving for intimacy that can't be quelled by a ceres-operated pleasure district (though he's wondered if anyone has really used it). either way, not thinking about it much and just... seeing where things go is just the level of uncomplicated they can use right now as a bit of solace from all the other complications.
even if it will eventually end up getting mixed right into that fray.
for now? yuri will take it. and flynn's completely unsexy jokes.]
No wonder you never have a girlfriend back in Zaphias. You flirt with the wrong ones and have crappy lines for the ones you do like. [he reaches back up from that awkward position to press his palms against flynn's cheeks again. what a dumbass, spouting the most unflirtatious things right after they put some sort of weird stamp on their relationship.
sure, he doesn't really expect any less from flynn, but he could at least try. even yuri's trying a bit here. sure, his words aren't exactly the best, but he can tease and feign tone well enough to at least give them a little atmosphere.
(even if it's still in the most inappropriate place. repede is going to be greeted with this sight soon enough and wonder why his owners are so stupid.)]
no subject
I told you before, I don't flirt.
[he really doesn't. it's lost on him and he has no clue how to do it back. tease? yes, with varying levels of success. flirt? what even. not to mention he's not fully convinced his actions are anything akin to flirting anyway. being polite does not amount to flirting. ...okay, yes, he's been concerned about it being as such after yuri's commentary, but that doesn't mean anything. it's not flirting. just politeness. end of story.
as for the crappy comments, well, sexy ones aren't happening in the middle of a jungle. really, they're already doing things that aren't really suitable in this sort of situation. taking it up a notch into more intimate talk won't be happening. somethings simply are not appropriate outside a private setting!! yuri can deal with crappy lines until they either get back home or somewhere out of the public eye. ...should they maybe save this sort of closeness for later, too? flynn won't move away JUST yet, especially not while being the idiot's support again, but it really isn't all that appropriate to remain like this too much longer. the next words come out nonchalantly and without too much in the way of thought behind them.]
And I just don't think the middle of the jungle is an appropriate place for lines like 'Oh, I'll have some Lower Quarter Boy in me s--'
[...the realization this time hits a little sooner than earlier, but not soon enough. he cuts himself off, promptly turning red. the line itself WAS good, but just... goes past the intended pg rating. way past. god, he really needs to learn to stop running his mouth when caught up in a moment. they are in a public area and not private one. maybe no one is around but maybe someone is!! what if someone heard that? what if a child heard that??
yeah, no, anything past this is SO saved for their apartment. this might be a carefree thing that they both need, but a carefree thing no one else needs to be subject to. children will not be traumatized on his watch!]
no subject
he barely even has time to feel the heat that emanates of flynn's cheeks because his outburst of laughter forces him to pull his hands away. this is great, if only because hearing flynn utter such brazen innuendo—even if he catches himself quickly—is just comical.
if nothing else, flynn gets a small break from supporting yuri's weight, because he's pulling away just to get this laughter out. this is like "tears in his eyes, so intense that his chest hurts" laughter, because the words are just so, so dirty. it's not as if he thinks flynn is so pure that it's a shock to hear; they're both adults, and they're both men who understand how these things work. but he knows that flynn isn't one to be so bold, especially out in the open. he has a reputation to maintain, and such crass statements would surely tarnish that back home.
but man, is it great to see flynn say something so casually, even if it's short-lived. for him, it's nice to see those traces of the lower quarter still exist in him; he hasn't totally cast it aside to be uptight.
not that yuri is going to help the situation at all. flynn's already embarrassed and yuri is shameless. so when his laughter has toned down and he's caught his breath a little, he'll sit upright, turning to face flynn.]
So there's an appropriate place for that, huh? [yep. yuri's going to make this fifty times worse, because he's not taking it very seriously.] I'll remember that if we ever get back to the apartment.
no subject
bad but not bad. jokes like that are entirely unacceptable in the public sphere, doubly so whenever they return home. somethings are meant to remain private. that said, allowing that perfect knight act to falter like this feels good. full responsibility will be taken if anyone else had fallen within earshot of that, of course. should no one be then, well, just this once (possibly one of the last times, too) allowing himself to not be perfection incarnate, to let that lower quarter brat shine through, might be okay.
when yuri turns around, the expression which greets him is a cheery, if still somewhat red one. yeah yeah, laugh it up; flynn will, too.]
I'm surprised you know what counts as an appropriate place.
[color flynn impressed, oh he who thought naked in the kitchen was okay! though not really. pain in the ass as yuri can be, he no doubt can guess what flynn's idea of acceptable is with more intimate matters. apartment and talk like this? falls right under that acceptable umbrella.]
no subject
[yuri has no shame in calling it out as is. whether it's here in the jungle, their apartment, walking the streets of the colony or sitting in a tavern in dahngrest... yuri wouldn't have any shame making the same jokes. but he knows flynn, and he knows well enough to know that this is the sort of situation that embarrasses him because it's possible for anyone to overhear.
maybe that's why it's almost a little surprising that flynn remains in good spirits about things. the fact that he's laughing despite the embarrassment—to yuri, it's a step forward rather than a step back. it means there really is a little more left in flynn than he'd thought. or maybe than he wanted to believe, because yuri's been so staunch in his feelings that flynn was too far beyond those things at times to really let himself believe otherwise. an oddly complicated situation from someone who prefers to keep things simple.
but whatever. that's another time's problem, right? flynn seems to be enjoying it regardless, so yuri doesn't have much to complain about right now. it's been a rough few days, and getting to this point hasn't been easy, so he isn't about to take that knowledge for granted.] Considering you're that worried about a line, we'd have to save it for a place like that anyway.
[did he just?
...yes, yes he did. he sure did just casually make that implication shamelessly, with a laugh. maybe he doesn't mean very much by it since it's way too early in any regard to think about those things (if only because they're stranded in the jungle, honestly), but hey. no shame—and maybe he just still gets enough of a kick from teasing flynn.]
no subject
...despite how much some days involve wishing it could be all let out. he's honestly envious some days of yuri and of everyone else. most of them say what's on their mind without any thought to the repercussions. it results in consequences for those actions, sure, but it's also a sign of how free they are to say those words. very few times exist when he's capable of doing the same.
most of those times involve yuri, sometimes even in a place where it isn't overly acceptable. his lower quarter side might slowly be coming out around brave versperia and some in this world, too. it's a nice change.
what isn't nice, however, is that crude comment. an immediate and unhappy frown comes at the implication, all amusement abruptly ceasing. once and at his own failure he can laugh; twice and yuri purposely saying such stuff (and with a laugh to boot) he won't approve of. what makes it more annoying is knowing that this is purposeful teasing, teasing he can't help but fall victim to. for all the times flynn comes out on top, the one that tends to come out victorious in battles of teasing isn't him.]
If you know what I think is appropriate then you full well know that comment isn't.
[this is where he draws the line. dropping the perfect knight act can be permitted, but two factors need to be present for it: the right environment and the right company. yuri fills in the second requirement but the jungle damn well doesn't for the first. ...actually, for the implication, apartment as a whole doesn't fall under the right environment. only certain places qualify. by certain places? he means bedroom. only bedroom. not couch, not bathroom and definitely not kitchen.]

[which is obviously not what yuri is trying to do right now. the words had come out as teasing as anything else he'd say—even yuri has his limits to what he'll do and not do, after all. propositioning flynn for sex in the middle of the jungle wasn't on his to-do list (figuratively or literally, as it were), so clearly he meant it in jest. there's not any reason for flynn to take things so seriously... though he guesses that is just the way he is.
it leaves yuri simultaneously rolling his eyes and smirking. he kind of lost every fight today; even his goading flynn ended up in an unexpected kiss that wound up changing the game a little. this is is one small victory, one of the few things he can consistently lord over flynn... so maybe he's not too fussed at all over the way he wins, but he can't help but roll his eyes in a way that intends to remind flynn to loosen up once in a while. they just made a strange and unplanned decision that opens up a lot of other avenues they wouldn't have had before, so there's no point in souring the mood over a couple of jokes.
don't make him regret his decision when he already has so many reasons to try and run away from it.
at least he knows how to get flynn's mind off it that doesn't involve teasing or flirting.]
We should probably get moving soon, find the others. Who knows what this place has in store for us.

...says the one who initiated the make out in the middle of a jungle. some standards, huh? the action isn't one he regrets, not with how it turned out, but it still necessitates more mindfulness of his own behavior in the future. which WILL happen. he can't allow the perfect knight demeanor to falter, at least not while out in public, not even around yuri. it'll be difficult, however it can --it will-- be done. dumb antics, if ones of a lesser stupidity level than excessive drinking, can be saved for their apartment.
crude remarks will also be saved for that place. any further commentary on the matter never comes thanks to the successful topic change. flynn doesn't mind transitioning into this. actually, it feels long overdue. the fact nothing attacked them while so preoccupied with all the prior conversation is nothing short of a miracle.]
Good idea. I scouted out the surrounding area earlier; there wasn't anything of concern nearby but also no signs of the city.
[whether that's good or bad, who can say? they lack weapons, but there's also seemingly a lack of ceres.]

[he's not all that interested in just teaming up with anyone, and a group of 100+ people seems more like herding cattle than actually making progress.
before he can say much else, repede appears from some of the foliage—it's probably tough to say whether that timing is convenient, or if repede intentionally waited while his owners sorted out their issues, but there he is, ready to... not stick around and wait any longer. even the dog is silently saying "let's go" at this point.]

Yeah, I agree, though we should find a place to set up camp prior to searching around. [flynn stands, allowing himself a casual stretch that wouldn't have been nearly as permissible around anyone else.] It shouldn't be too difficult to make some simple housing, possibly some makeshift weapons, too.
[between aurnion and knightly training, they'll be set. chances are he could even get a solid fire going despite the less than desirable environment for it. yeah, it won't be too bad out here. the worst of it is just the oppressive air, air that seems to be getting more and more difficult to breathe.
a slightly apologetic smile comes from flynn's end toward repede. they may have overdone it a little today and the one who suffered for it was their third companion. a mental note gets made to give repede an extra good belly rubbing later as an apology.]
Sorry for the delay, Repede.

[it's obviously not an issue to yuri about being able to set up camp. he knows that flynn could probably build a whole city if he really wanted to... but it doesn't necessarily seem like the best idea right now.
not until they have a better idea of what's going on. if the group ends up moving in their efforts to find... well, anything resembling civilization, they could just be setting themselves for a whole lot of work for no good reason. especially considering repede doesn't seem to have anything useful to report back; he's just waiting for the two idiot now.]
