It’s been a few days in the jungle now and hopefully you haven’t managed to die just yet – after all, the fun’s just begun. On the seventh day of trekking the wilderness, each character who has Water in their heart will suddenly find themselves pausing in the middle of the day. Suddenly they’ll feel a rush of cold, like a splash of cold water dumped on them. Then without warning, they’ll feel splashes of water amidst their feet. Then, through the use of a spontaneous, tall wave of water, they’re washed right off their feet. At least they don’t have time to be scared as they suddenly lose consciousness after swimming for a few seconds. Don’t worry. It’ll get better. When they wake up, they hear the following message in between the rushing sound of a river—
Don’t be lazy. Come on, we’re going somewhere.
You need to see something. Be grateful, I wouldn't do this for just anyone.

PHASE I [ day one ] Maris is easily and by far the most careless of the elements. Unfortunately this means that he’s pretty careless about where he drops off those of the Water affinity – which is to say, they land with a very literal splash. Waking up in the middle of a roaring river probably isn’t pleasant. Neither is the fact that all around, there is an abundance of coral reefs sprouting from beneath the surface of the water. If the water was calmer, it would be crystal clear that every gorgeous, colorful detail could be seen beneath the water's surface. But as is, it’s a bit of a fight to just make sure that you don’t go rushing right into an anemone and destroy Nemo’s home. “Relax, stop breaking my stuff,” Maris’s voice comes from all around when a character finds themselves underwater. Now… do you actually listen?
Because if you do, you'll find that you're actually not in any danger of drowning -- whatever Maris has done, it seems as though you can now breathe underwater (temporarily; really, don't try this at home) though you're still going to be totally soaked. You'll have to swim your way out of here but since this is Maris, it's not like he's given you any directions.
Oh, and that coral will still cut you to ribbons, so best avoid that too.
PHASE II [ day one ] Eventually, gallons of swallowed salt water and a dozen anemone stings later, the water calms down. Characters will surface and find none other than a string of kayaks waiting for them at the next river bend. They’re old and made entirely from the surroundings in the forest – it’s easy to tell that they were used by whoever inhabited this forest once upon a time. Adventurers are welcome to climb onto the kayaks, but they’re clearly expected to continue to follow the river. The water is calmer and as promised, different kinds of aquatic life can be found dwelling in the river. Important Reminder: Fish are friends, not food. Should you try to eat one of the aliens swimming around, a sudden, angry whirlpool will appear right there in the middle of the water and spit you back to where you arrived -- you'll have to make the entire swim again! Apparently Maris doesn’t quite appreciate your attempt at nibbling on one of his subjects.
PHASE III [ day two ] Further down the river, getting closer and closer to the sound of oceanic waves, a few more stops pop up along the sides of the river. Tiny houses, akin to rundown shacks will appear and you're welcome to take a look at them. Some of them possess scorch marks and others have flowers growing in between the cracks of the wooden panels. Each have scratch marks, suggesting that the guests of these little huts all had different…. sharp features.
For a while, each of these shacks appear similar to one another – up until the last handful at the end of the row. While they look just as rundown on the outside, inside of these particular shacks, there will be sheets metal and pieces of old technology, completely powered down and out of juice. A piece of paper can be found after opening up some of the cabinets. Most of it too damaged by water to make out, but one page is written in discernible language. “In conclusion, the natives who dwell in the water are gifted with different powers that allow them to stay primarily within the bodies of water in the region. However they are at peace with those who are aligned with fire, earth, and air. They have come to build small huts so that they may coexist together. Whatever rumored divisions used to exist between them are no longer in place.”
Wonder who could've been here? Either way, it seems they've left their marks -- there are no natives to be found here, and the river seems dirtier here.
PHASE IV [ day three ] The river finally empties out into the ocean. It is crisp, clear, and a gorgeous day out. The sand is perfectly fine and thin, warm underneath your inevitably pruned feet after being in the water for so long. Waves lap against the shore and carry seashells back and forth, tossed into intricate shapes not native to the typical beachside. You made it. Welcome to your Beach Episode. …. Or at least, that’s how it would be if there wasn’t a sudden loud, groaning noise coming from the water. It rises slowly and the feeling is not unlike watching the tsunami threaten to wash over the colony however many months ago. But this isn’t just a wall of water, this is a wall of monster. Tentacles sprout out from beneath the ocean’s surface and a piercing screech breaks the monotony of the beach. It’s happened. You unleashed the kraken.
... Or, at least, a giant fish monster of some sort. Gross. Maris won't be any help; he just sits and watches, shrugging if anyone approaches. It's not his fault most of you smell like food.
But should you manage to take care of the angry fishy fiend, the beach will be free to explore and enjoy and...hopefully not be too uncomfortable to try to sleep on when night falls.
Welcome to your new home.

[She's too slow on land to do anything but watch as Namur takes the shot for her. She falls forward into him, trying to brace him against the blow so that he doesn't go flying again.]
no subject
Hang on t' me!
[And he hopes she does because there's not much time to say more before he has to jump.]
no subject
[She doesn't have a lot of time to think about it, so she'll just grab onto his back.]
no subject
He let himself get caught up in the moment, however, and the kraken responds faster than he realizes. A massive arm swoops toward him and Keimi, bound to hit them if they continue their current trajectory, and Namur doesn't seem to notice.]
no subject
Namur-chin, you need to pay more attention!
no subject
Done a good 'nuff job guardin' my back, sweetheart. The hell I gotta worry 'bout? Sheheheh!
[Seriously though, they are moving faster than fishmanly possible. Hope Keimi's got a good grip.]
If I take y' out t' sea, think y' can stay outta trouble?
no subject
I'm not going to leave you to fight that giant thing all by yourself!
[...]
And how are you so fast?!

The kraken recovers enough to know it's now incredibly pissed at the weird shaped colorful blob trying to head out to sea, and gives chase. Even with a speed Junction, it won't take long for the thing to catch up to them running along the bottom on its long tentacles. Namur starts cursing.]
Don't know if I can take that thing in the open seas.
[Damn cephalopods and their graspy, drowning-from-backed-up-gills tentacles.]
Gotta find somewhere with shit I can work with, drive it int' a corner! Keep yer eyes open for a trench or somethin'!
[Namur, meanwhile, will be focusing on not getting caught. He pushes himself harder, darting back and forth to make them more difficult to pinpoint.]

She gasps when a spot of darkness flashes across her eye-- a shallow indication of a spot deeper than the rest of the ocean floor.]
Namur-chin! Over there!
no subject
Don't let go!
[There's no good way to explain what he's going to do, but he needed to warn her to be extra cautious. Instead of trying to pull away, Namur kicks back with his trapped foot, shooting them toward the creature's center of mass. Its limbs are thicker and the suckers harder to avoid, but it wasn't expecting the move, and the converging tentacles miss. It gets Namur breathing again, and gives him an opportunity to sink his teeth into several of the writhing legs. Bright blood clouds the water. Namur finally manages to pry the sucker from his leg and charges forward, finally getting his head in the fight enough to make his haki work with the Junctions he's learned. He blocks a jab, turns, and throws a double combo that freezes a portion of the tentacle, then shatters the muscle like glass. He tries not to think of his diamond brother's arm as he does it, but there's no denying it's where he got the idea.]

But the blood in the water is getting a little much. It's becoming difficult to see, and if it gets any thicker, hard to breathe. With another click of her coral, she puts a bubble around their heads to keep the blood out.]
What do we do now...?

But the breath of fresh air jogs his mind, enough to make him realize he was losing it, his vision hyper-focused and red around the edges. Shit, no, he needs to think. Feeding can come later, though he desperately doesn't want to wait- thank Maris and his anti-river fishing laws. No. Think. Finish the fight, then eat in peace.
The kraken-seaking thrusts forward with its tail, jaws protruding, ready to grab them with teeth like sharpened masts and hook them in. Namur grunts, breaking the air bubble and pushing forward to meet it head-on with a yell. Red-tinged bubbles swirl, the sounds of multiple impacts can be heard. It's hard to see, hard to breathe. If Keimi screams, Namur won't hold it against her later. Finally, he manages to pull out of the tangle somewhat, by sending a blackened fist up through the creature's fangs just as they were closing in. It leaves a broad gap and Namur darts through, grabbing onto one of the remaining teeth and bodily hauling it after him, taking control.]
Think y' can get the best a me in the shitty water? HA!
[If he had any doubts about his ability earlier, they seem to have been put out of his mind. He smashes his heel into the soft part of the kraken's head, pulling against its teeth to help grind his foot in and, if not do damage, at least send a clear message.]
Didn't fall out the stupid tree, y' got drug face first through the whole dumbass forest!
[It thrashes, trying to break free, questing hardened tentacles like bony scythes forward to try and skewer them, but Namur wrenches its head around so its only choice is to streamline behind him or risk losing it. He dives for the dark area Keimi pointed out- a rocky outcropping, jagged and bare. An attempt at closing its jaws to sever his hand results in its losing another fang, from the lower jaw, this time, then Namur hauls it into a spin and throws it against the broken outcropping with a strength even seafolk would find astonishing. He hasn't had a fight like this in forever. It's exhilarating!
The monster constricts, partly due to shock, partly as a defense mechanism. Nothing within its reach can get away. But it's weaker now, blood loss and physical trauma taking its toll on the massive body and Namur, exulting, sinks his teeth into the thick skin, shearing through large chunks of flesh. He surges forward, ripping into the creature's underside. The kraken fights back, trying to give as good as its gotten, snapping what's left of its fangs. Namur pounds it between the eyes hard enough to send ripples of energy through the water.]
Told y' 'fore, ain't nothin' doin' fightin' me! Got a new top shit in the ocean an' yer lookin' at 'im! This sea's mine now an' don't y' never forget it!
[The kraken monster won't have much of a chance to forget. Crackling energy surrounds Namur, bursting outward in a sphere. Keimi might recognize the feeling as it washes through her, piercing every particle in her body but somehow, miraculously, seeming to miss her core. The kraken does not fare as well and goes still, sinking unconsciously to the sea floor. It'll bleed to death before it wakes. Namur floats above it for a moment, fists balled and chest heaving from the strain, then slowly drops to stand on top of the carcass, trying to calm down. He cants his head to the side, glancing over his shoulder, and laughs.]
Hungry, sweetheart?
