[ Entering the CERES research tower will be somewhat easier than expected.
There are no armed guards that will stop anyone if they come in through the front doors (or the side doors, or any doors) and regardless of which doors they choose, there will be a desk, behind which sits a robot receptionist. If they come in through a window, there will be a robot receptionist. No matter how they break in, the receptionist is there.
Weird.
If you talk to the robot receptionist, he will give you a pamphet. It is titled CERES and You: How to Live a Fulfilling Life With CERES. Now doesn't that sound like fun reading.
After a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors (unless you really want to play Uno in the lobby), it's decided. One group will go left. One group will go right.
There are unassuming doors on each side. Time to go! ]

Attempted specimen breach detected. Calling back-up.
[ Hinata's buttons, on the other hand, have started whatever that claw is for. Celty is correct in that it's large enough to pick up a person, because that's what it's going to do; it picks her up, restraining her tightly. She won't be able to escape it; it's intended to hold onto the strange creatures that can be found on Tellus, and has strange properties along those lines. And, as it's used for that purpose exactly, the next thing that appears is a robotic arm with a syringe full of some mysterious, clear liquid. ]
Beginning test: specimen number S62312.
[And then Celty's going to get an injection of that syringe to her arm. At the moment, it will have no effect -- and then she is dropped down a trap door.
Luckily for her, one of the previous raid groups made a mess of the cages she was supposed to be dropped into! So she's free to walk right out of the compound; she won't be able to open any doors to rejoin the group. A few hours later, the injection will start to take effect. She will find that she has intense dizziness and vertigo for 3 IC days, during which she will have vivid nightmares of the jungle surrounding Tellus, and the natives. They will be fragmented. When she is awake, she will see everyone as Izaya for 24 IC hours.
That all happens in the space of a few moments, but following this, all of the doors will unlock; it seems that was a security measure in place to make sure the monsters can't escape. ]

He would've just hit it again if nothing had happened but he turns his face toward the sound of unlocking doors. WELL. He hurries the hell out into the hallway, looking around quickly.]
Katsura! Celty!
no subject
[ Katsura curses under his breath. Of course, he gets to witness the entire thing, same thing for Elizabeth. Well, uh. That wasn't good at all, was it? Instantly, Katsura makes a beeline out down the staircase he took and heads towards the main hallway while all of this is happening to Celty. His goal is to get to where the trap door was.
Elizabeth, on the other hand, makes his escape as well once the doors are unlocked and makes it to the hallway successfully. It's taking Katsura awhile to meet up with them in the hallway though.
A sign appears for Hinata:
"Where did you go..?
We have to find Celty-san.
She fell down a door in this room.."
He gestures to the room he was in, beckoning Hinata to assist. ]
no subject
[With a vague indicative flick of his hand. But Hinata goes pale as he reads the rest of the sign Elizabeth's got. Ah.
Shaking his head, he moves toward the room in question.]
no subject
"Watch above. That is the thing that got her.
This is the door she fell under— do you have any ideas?
If not, I'm going to suggest we result—
To drastic measures."
"What did you see in your room?"
Still no sign of Katsura. ]
no subject
[Hinata glances anxiously up at the claw as he shifts slightly into the room. He stops just inside, looking around and frowning at the lack of, well, Katsura.]
Er-- Mine had all of these buttons, and levers.
no subject
On the other hand, it appears as though their efforts have brought about some attention.
Namely in the form of a secretary dinosaur. He taps his way in on clawed feet and stares at them for a long moment. His job was just to write down the changes in the experiment, not to deal with intruders!!
And then he roars at them. ]
no subject
Elizabeth perks up when he sense another presence in the room, only to be roared at. What do people usually do in this situation? Well, Elizabeth is known to fight, but being Katsura's side kick who made a habit of running away, that looks like the best bet he wants to take.
He signs to Hinata, looking nervous (as a weird duck thing could look, I guess):
"I hope you can run fast."
With that, he begins to take off. ]
no subject
He has been ignoring his gut instinct since he got in here. Splitting up, okay, bad things happened, so too did bad shit happen when he pressed that button (tho he hasn't realised yet).
And right now, his gut and finely-honed Haven instinct is telling him just one thing: pull out his gun and shoot the dinosaur before it eats him first. Listen. Indiscriminate violence is the Haven way.
So that's EXACTLY WHAT HE'S DOING, cocking his gun, firing off at the dinosaur's legs first as Elizabeth takes off because goodness knows he doesn't want it getting closer.]
no subject
Off Elizabeth goes! He'll find that he can continue down the hall now that the door is open, if he so pleases. That said, there are going to be robot guards showing up now that the alarm has been tripped, so be careful.
As for Hinata, who shoots poor defenseless dinosaurs, his bullet connects -- but bullets don't do much to dinosaurs. Aside from making them mad, of course. The dinosaur snarls in pain and surprise, before lowering his head and charging right at Hinata with deceptive speed. He'll ram Hinata first, though at the very least that means Hinata's not getting bitten or clawed just yet. ]
no subject
???? Such conflict. Where is his leader? He doesn't want to just abandon Hinata here either.
Meanwhile, Katsura is finally almost down that flight of stairs and entering into the hallway. If he comes across any guards, well.
Let's just say a few of them had been holding him up in the mean time. He manages to escape them— probably absolutely wrecking a few— and that is what the hold up is.
Zura keeps his sword drawn as he sees more robots approach, blocking his exit to the beginning hallway. ]
—Hooo. You think it's clever to just block the exit like that?
[ he'll fight you. ]
no subject
Said dinosaur that is charging at him and just fantastic, really, but Hinata draws a deep breath and summons up his aura. It can at least absorb the impact, because he wants to dart toward the door.
...And pull out one of the explosives Katsura gave him. Firing off another bullet in the hopes it'll at least distract it for a second, Hinata flings the explosive into the room at the same time he goes to dive outside of it and around the corner.]
no subject
Unfortunately for Hinata, he'll be rounding the corner right into gunfire, because that's what the robots are going to be launching at Katsura as well. It's pretty clear that the robots are protecting one particular door at the end of the hallway, though, if they can get through them to reach it.
The door itself seems rather important as well, judging by the large AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY sign. ]
no subject
He notices movement in the corner of his eye and it's Hinata. ]
Not all of them wreck so easily. Hinata-dono, we should— [ leave, is what he wants to say, especially since there are pools of blood soaked into his turtleneck by now from some damage.
What does he actually say: ]
—get through that door.
no subject
[He has to gasp it out after a moment where he ducks back behind the corner. He can feel his arm aching and tbh he's been shot in that arm enough times, but a wet feeling is creeping along his shoulder.
Definitely shot, but that's what happens. And Katsura seems the same.]
Just charge?
no subject
I believe—! The only way we could get in there is to blow it open. [ yes, we're bomb-happy here, it seems. Though, it's obvious they are in no condition to let a bomb just fly free willy-nilly, to Katsura begins to back up, trying to coax the robots back to the room and staircase he originally was at.
Hooray for more property destruction! ]
If you adjust the knob on the side of the bomb, it will lighten the explosion to a smaller one. Ah, you know.. like an egg timer.
[ ??? ]
That can be useful in this case so we don't get injured but there is a hole in the door--!
no subject
[A bomb isn't anything like an egg timer though, oi—]
Five seconds, Katsura, and I'm throwing it! [He's twisting the knob on the side of the bomb, clenching it in his hand. He's counting down in his head, watching Katsura closely just to make sure he's heard him before he goes to CHUCK THE THING.]
no subject
Hinata CHUCKS THE THING, but at the same time, one of the robots fires its gun (well, they've all been firing their guns), but this one happens to hit said bomb mid-air.
The explosion is a bit closer than either Hinata or Katsura probably could have wanted, but it also means that the bomb explodes more closely to the ceiling -- which brings the entire ceiling of that hallway down on them. Thankfully, it also brings it down on the robots; when the explosion and subsequent disastrous debris falling finally settles (as well as the dust), everything is silent.
The robots have been crushed, and the door has been exploded open. The pathway to them is now entirely open.
However, Hinata and Katsura haven't escaped unscathed either. Katsura will have to deal with a rather large piece of ceiling pinning his leg, crushing it beneath it. Hinata will have been hit in the head by a large piece of rubble; while he may be conscious still, he will definitely be dizzy and find it hard to focus.
But if they can find a way to carry on, they're almost to their goal. ]
no subject
Any sorts of screams that Katsura may have let out have drawn silent as the dust begins to disappear. Well done, at least there are no robots? Let's think of the positives here. Katsura shifts underneath some light rubble and tries to push himself up so he can escape but— everything hurts there on his right leg. In fact, he's weak enough to where he is stuck for the time being— about he manages to call out Hinata's name: ]
Hinata-dono!
[ a bit of hacking from this dusty air, jfc.. ]
Are you alright..!?
no subject
Chumps who haven't gotten enough things messing around with their brain, apparently. Hinata can feel blood dripping down his face past the haze of dizziness that's overwhelming him. He doesn't respond to Katsura for a long moment, two, a minute...]
—ngh.
[Focus, Hajime. He does, very slowly. Enough so that he can gradually push himself off of the floor.] Katsura? [He's going to just unsteadily make his way in that direction. Ah... There he is.
Blinking, he squints, but Katsura breaks into twos and that's just awful so he has to shut his eyes briefly, lowering to rest heavily on one knee until he finds it a little easier to move.]
no subject
He'll call out, again, this time sounding a bit weaker: ]
Hinata-dono. The door is open.
If you can, investigate. If you cannot..
[ what are we to do now. ]
Assist me.
[ ... ]
We should escape.
[ Are you going to allow him to say that after coming so far? Katsura was brave, indeed, but-- his title showed he had a reputation for running away from battles.
There's a bit of crumbling, and, up and behind Katsura is Elizabeth, lifting the ceiling just enough where Zura can pull free if he desires to. Katsura does manage to wiggle himself out of the debris by using his good leg and lies there rather helplessly on his back, wearing a few other miscellaneous bruises.
What do you say, Hinata? Head back and go through that open door? ]
no subject
[Hinata breathes deeply. He opens his eyes again very slowly, looking up and seeming surprised that Elizabeth is there. He didn't even notice where he came from. Gathering his strength, he stands, keep himself from tottering. Then he approaches Katsura.]
Come on... You can help us out, right? [--to Elizabeth, as he leans down on the side with Katsura's good leg, offering him his shoulder and arm.] We'll get the hell out of here after we've investigated. Together.
[Now that he can focus a little (not a lot) better, the pain is beginning to set in. A persistent throbbing through his whole head, like something is hitting it over and over.
Tch. Whatever. He's not giving up here.]
If you really can't go, I'll go check it out by myself, but...
no subject
Who does Hinata think he is? Oh, wait. Protag status. Katsura nearly forgot.
Seeing as his leg is downright crushed, him standing on his own is impossible. Rivers of fresh blood were seeping out of various cracks in his flesh, a few shards of bone sticking out.
Eli drops debris once Zura is safely out of the way, and goes around to the othe side of Katsura, also hoisting him up. Katsura can stand, on his good leg, but the right one seems lifeless right now. His breath is unstable, but his demeanor is strong and collected.
Hinata sounded so determined. It seemed to give Katsura a boost, too. ]
.. You're right. Let's .. — [ god, it was hard to talk. ]
Let's proceed forward.
[ This was spoken— yes, spoken vocally, by Elizabeth... who carries a pretty masculine voice, despite his feminine name.
Thanks for finishing his sentence, buddy.
Onward they go into the mysterious open door— carefully.
How stubborn are they, exactly..? ]
▶ FINAL CHECKPOINT.SAV
. . . CONTINUING RAID.EXE. . .
[ And what they find with their protagonist-levels of determination is...
Well, it's a room full of junk.
There's a terminal not far from the entrance to the room, but the machinery running it has clearly been damaged by the explosion; there's nothing more than an ERROR message flashing on the screen.
But they don't need the terminal to realize what this place is, because there are handy dandy labels. The room is massive, much like a warehouse, and along the neat rows of junk are labels.
Labels like Ocular Implants and CereVice Upgrades and Transmitters. In fact, it seems as though CERES imports all of this shoddy tech from somewhere else, and then just dumps it in here until it'll be of any use.
This is what they stick into your bodies.
Congrats! ]

But eventually...]
They just put a bunch of crap in us...?
