the tears of roommates past
Who: Yamatonokami Yasusada (
yasusada ) & Kashuu Kiyomitsu (
adornmental )
When: Backdated | OOC: 11/18, IC: 4/5
What: Yamato finds some secrets about Kashuu's lonely life, learns of new roommates, Kashuu cries because he's a big baby.
Rating/Warning: Rated T for Tears.
[ Yamato can't say he's in an unfamiliar place, this is his room and the one that he was forced to share with Kashuu. The uchigatana wasn't going to let Yamato go anywhere else, practically over his dead body so it's here where he lives. Sitting on one side of the two beds that have been pushed together, he remains silent as he looks around and taking in that all he does is sleep here and nothing more. He doesn't go into the drawers, he doesn't make use of anything else in here but the bed. So how well does he know his living quarters?
Getting up from his bed, he walks towards one of the few dressers and begins to open them, as if just seeing what was empty or if anything needed to be removed. He's a cleaning sword when it comes to rooming with Kashuu, he picks up his slack and tries his best to do what he can so he can have an easier time but don't think Yamato will do this all the time. Kashuu has legs and arms too, if he can walk, he can clean what he passes by. But, it's a different story when it's an unseen mess, guessing that the little various things scattered in this drawer is nothing but things that have to be thrown away.
Paper lanterns that are shoved in the back, Yamato guessing it's some arts and craft Kashuu picked up and never used again. He decides to rip it in half at the exact moment that the bedroom door opens — turning, he's not surprised to see that it's Kashuu. ]
Ah, welcome back. I thought maybe I could clean up a bit around here.

Including the drawer that he's neatly set aside for Hotarumaru.
The items that had been left behind were all neatly packed away - the ones that didn't disappear along with him, anyway - but Kashuu's also added to it as time has gone on. Hotarumaru would like that, he'd sometimes think while walking through the marketplace, and so he'd buy it and stash it away for the day he returns. It's not like they're particularly close, anyway. Not really. But Kashuu had shared a room with him for his first couple of months in the city, and it had been very, very lonely once he'd left.
Maybe that's why Kashuu reacts a little more violently than the situation really calls for. As soon as he spots the paper, he's darting forward, intent on snatching it out of Yamato's hand.]
What are you doing—?!

Kiyomitsu? What is your problem? Please calm down, I'm trying to clean! I know something like that is lost upon you but — [ Balling up what he has in his hands in order to find a trashcan to drop it in later, he looks into the drawer. Searching for things that he knows his mirror wouldn't be interested in. There's all sorts of things that he doesn't think Kashuu would partake in, these little trinkets that seems more childish than what he makes himself out to be. The uchigatana may act like he's five years old, but Yamato as the older sword between them feels as if he knows better. ]
It won't take me long to clean so maybe it's best if you stand outside the room, you're acting like the type who won't throw away anything.. Kiyomitsu.
[ Not like that is a bad thing, but what Yamato does to remedy this is to bring out a few more unnamed items — about three, which can be named out in ease on Kashuu's side so maybe they don't have to be thrown away. ] If you tell me what these things are, maybe you can keep them?

And then Yamato's going on about cleaning and telling him to stand outside and making a game out of keeping these things, and his anger shifts into something frigid as it usually does when he's moved from being Regular Mad™ to being Actually Angry™. There's no salvaging this stupid origami piece now, so he crumples the half that's in his hand too, and answers the question with barely a glance.]
Glitter paint, sticky stars, glow bracelets. Those aren't mine, so you can't throw them away. This wasn't mine either- [While tossing the crumpled half into the trash] -so you're gonna apologize when its owner comes back, got it?

You've lived with Okita-kun this entire time and I know this isn't his stuff so I don't know why you're so intent on keeping something like this. [ Why is he like this? The uchigatana continues to move things within it as he finds other thing but he doesn't know who would be the one to use them. Some of the things within this drawer looks old, something he can't possible date the time on but it does hold a rather small and good little trinkets. Nothing that Yamato would think of throwing away but some are worn and tired, should it really still be inside of this thing? ]

Okita didn't live here until you showed up.
[Not officially, anyway, even though he would camp out often. There wasn't really anywhere to put his things until a few weeks before Yamato had arrived, after all. Kashuu had left Hotaru's belongings out for a while even after that, only tucking them away in the drawer for safe keeping shortly after the other two moved in.
That drawer has more than just the things for Hotarumaru, though. He's saved some magazines that he thought Jiroutachi might like, a bracelet with little plastic beads shaped like donuts to match the shoes Midare bought on their last shopping trip together, nail polish for Souza, a new ribbon for Kanesan's braid, an opening day flyer for the dojo that he hopes he'll be able to show Nagasone some day. Even swords who haven't arrived at all get things, sometimes - a light-up yoyo for Urashima, a little ghost papercraft for Nikkari. It definitely looks like a pile of junk...]
Don't make assumptions just 'cause they sound right to you, stupid. He slept in my bed, but there wasn't enough room for him to move in.

You're not answering my question, Kiyomitsu. Who's stuff is it? [ What was any of that crap but that isn't what Yamato is thinking as he tries to get back to the drawer but since Kashuu guards it, he moves to another drawer that has some other stuff that could be for people like Akashi and ( Where is Kiku's stuff wtf ) swords that must not be named. ] So is this stuff that you wanted to keep as well? All these papers and little trinkets, I'm sure a.. [ Picking Coconut pin for possibly one of the Coconut Head swords. ]
Do you even like coconut? [ Ugh, throwing that in the trash. Goodbye. ] Does someone own all of this stuff? Who are you holding it for?

[He's going to get a lock?? DON'T TEST HIM.
Anyway, he doesn't answer that yet either, but it's clear he's getting worked up again. OF COURSE HE IS. Yamato never listens to him! This is why he's aged 100 years for every day that he's had to share a room with this bum. He'll even reach into the trash to fish the coconut pin out, grimacing and being very grateful that nothing's in there but plastic wrappings from new makeup bottles, scrap paper, and tissues.]
I said stop, dammit! Listen to me for once! [PUTTING THAT PIN RIGHT BACK.] This is for Hirano, okay? That polish is for Souza, those magazines are for Jirou and that origami you ripped up was Hotarumaru's, so like I said! You better apologize when he gets back!

[ He's angry and he's being more snappy than usual which makes Yamato have to grow to silent, figuring out why he's like this. Normally he doesn't care when Yamato cleans up his mess, less work for him to do. It's when he states that each one of those things has a meaning and a purpose for certain people. He wouldn't have known, it's not like this is his fault but there is no reason to swear at him! Just what the fuck did Yamato do!
Though it's a mystery of why he has all these things, so he decides to question it because it can't be that bad? Can it? ] Huh? Why do you have all these things for them, if they've been here, why didn't they take whatever it was with them? [ Are they on a trip? Yamato doesn't know that people disappears, he wasn't given that bit of information like everyone else. ]
I'm sure we can find something to mail it off to them. You do have your pigeon? [ He's being helpful, don't yell at him! ]

They can't take it where they went. [This is said after a bit of a pause, and he moves to shut the drawer that Yamato had been rummaging through, too. He's more careful with this one, though; he closes it slowly and cautiously, like sliding a tomb's lid into place.]
We don't know where people go when they disappear, so it's not like we can send their stuff to 'em.
no subject
So there are others here, when will they be coming back? [ Yamato.. that is not the case. ] I mean, I understand within battle we can't take some things with us but how long have they've been gone? If there was dust I'd be able to guess but it looks like you make sure non eof their stuff gains a spec of dirt.
[ Yamato noticed that! He did! ]

But Kashuu only shakes his head in response to that, lips pressing into a thin line. He doesn't like talking about these things; that's why he keeps everything shut away in a drawer instead of leaving it out in the open, after all.]
We don't know when. Sometimes people just-- don't. [Don't come back at all, that is.] Or they come back without remembering what happened before. [Like Horikawa.]
Haruji didn't send 'em anywhere, and don't talk to him about it, okay? It upsets him. CERES says they disappear 'cause something goes wrong with their code and it needs to be fixed again, but I don't believe that either.
