What: Mikleo invited Mary over to meet Sorey back during the ViViD intro. So, here they are, ready for this meeting.

[Mikleo's been a very busy bee these past few days. Getting adjusted to the technology, figuring out where everything is in the city, checking in with some people he's recently met, figuring out if other humans can see him outside of ViViD, making snacks for two humans and four seraphim (including himself), stealing Sorey's history books for some light reading....

The list goes on.

This, however, is something he's been keen on getting ready for. Mary and Sorey meeting for the first time. True to his word, he hasn't told Sorey about the fact that Mary isn't human. He simply tells his friend that he wants him to meet someone he ran into when he first arrived.

Then he calls Mary to schedule it and starts making some snacks for her to take home afterwards.

Look, he really loves this oven and the fact that temperature is no longer an issue for him because of this wonderful technology. ~~Hope Mary likes butter cookies.~~

When she arrives, Mikleo's just finished putting the cookies on the cooling rack and answers the door, calling over his shoulder:]

Sorey, would you turn off the oven, please?

[He stands aside for Mary to enter, a small smile on his face.]

Hi, Mary. Come on in and make yourself at home.

[Okay, maybe Mikleo is a little excited for the two of them to meet. Maybe. He just thinks Mary deserves more loving friends, alright?]

[ Mary, in direct contrast to Mikleo's excitement, is facing this impending encounter with a good amount of trepidation. It's not as though she doubts that Sorey is a kind person, but because he's truly someone special-- what if she's not good enough? What if he doesn't like her?

So when she steps inside, she's... immediately clenching her hands into her skirt and staring at the floor, trembling. ]

T-thank you for having me...

[ While Mikleo finally has something to help him control fire for cooking, leaving it on would indeed still burn the house down, so Sorey does as he's asked and goes over to turn the oven off.

Aaaand then he makes his way over to the door to greet the adorable little girl who ... looks very scared to him. That does not take long for him to pick up on.

Smiling and waving at her anyway. ] Hey, Mary. It's good to meet you!

[ Ah ... he's not sure if he should ask if something's wrong, but ... he'll leave it at that for the moment. ]

[Mikleo puts a gentle hand on her shoulder for reassurance after closing the door. Subtly, he catches Sorey's eye and gives a very small shake of the head. He knows his friend wants to ask, but they can talk about it later.]

Any time. Here, have a seat.

[He'll gesture over to one of the chairs.]

Do you want anything?

I'm okay... [ It's a shaky little murmur, as she shakes her head, but she seems to have found some strength from Mikleo's bolstering touch. By the time she sits down, she's even capable of lifting her gaze off the floor! ]

... [ Okay, give her a minute, she's trying to muster up the courage to be, you know... CONVERSATIONAL. ]

[ Hmm, okay. Sorey won't ask if anything's wrong, and instead he'll put all his effort into being his normal cheery, friendly self. And if something's wrong, maybe that'll help!

Um. ]

Do you like cookies, Mary? You might be able to tell by the smell, but Mikleo just made some! He's really good with sweets.

[The water seraph takes a seat next to Mary, deciding it'll be best if he remains close to her for silent support. Mikleo scoffs at the compliment.]

Baked goods aren't my strong suit, so he's exaggerating. Though...I'll admit that I think I'm improving a little now that I'm not guessing what temperature it needs to be at.

[He shakes his head.]

Honestly, I'm better at frozen or cold stuff. [After a glance at Mary:] You're certainly free to take some of what I've made home, though.

Um... can I try one? [ Well, might as well sample the wares before she hauls some of them with her, right? And she does like cookies. And home baking! That's something her mother had been good with, too. ]

[ Shhh, just take the compliment, Mikleo!

But he smiles at her interest — yes good he brought up the right thing. ]

I don't think he'd mind. Right, Mikleo?

[He shakes his head.]

Not at all. They might still be a little hot.

[Mikleo's just going to get up and grabs two plates. He comes back to sit next to Mary, putting a plate with a couple cookies on it in front of her. The other plate goes to Sorey.]

I had some earlier today, so knock yourselves out.

[ Mary will ever-so-lightly give one of the cookies a poke, to test the heat of it, before she picks it up with both hands and takes a nibble.

She looks a little like a gerbil at this moment in time, but-- ]

It's... it's really good!

[ There's her smile. ]

[ Oh. Mary's enjoyment of the cookie prompts Sorey to go for one, sitting down next to Mikleo and picking one up so he can take a nice big bite out of it. ]

Ooh, you're right! I told you he was — [ Ok maybe he took a little too big of a bite because the middle of the cookie hasn't had enough time to cool down so aaah — ] Hot hot!

[ Huff puffing to try and cool his mouth down he made a mistake. ]

[Mikleo is out of his seat and off to grab a couple glasses. He summons some cold water to put into them and quickly comes back to the table. The water seraph looks a little exasperated as he resumes his seat, handing one glass to his friend and the other to Mary, just in case.]

I told you it was still cooling, Sorey. Sheesh, my baking isn't worth burning yourself over.

A-are you okay??

[ Sorry, Mikleo, Mary's already out of her seat and frantically... fanning... Sorey...

... She didn't think this through. ]

[ Perfect timing, Mikleo ... and Mary?! W-Wow, he appreciates that, despite it ... not really being the right way to fix this problem.

He takes a big gulp of the water to cool his mouth down, sighing in relief and then turning to Mary. He doesn't really have the heart to tell her fanning him isn't a way to cool down his mouth, so he'll play it off like she helped, too! ]

I-I'm fine now, thanks to you, Mary. You really helped me there.

[ Casually giving Mary all the credit. He knows Mikleo shouldn't be upset over that anyway. ]

[He'll gladly give all the credit to Mary; it's fine. Sorey's still going to get a shove against his shoulder.]

Honestly, how have you survived the past two months?

[He loves you, really, Sorey.]

O-oh... really?

[ She helped? That is sure one massive sigh of relief escaping... ]

I'm glad Mikleo's here for you now, though...

[ Yes, of course she helped! And he nods at that! But damn, Mikleo. Rude. ]

Hey, I've been fine on my own! [ Huff puff! But he can't help but smile at Mary's comment. So cute. ] But I guess I'm glad he's here now, too, Mary.

[Ugh, he's right here, guys. And faintly blushing to boot.]

There's no 'guessing' involved, Sorey. You were the one who hugged me the moment you saw me.

[Hmph. "I guess I'm glad he's here, now." The nerve.]

...

[ Looking between the two of them, very slowly... ]

Oh.

[ Is this the rumored ROMANTIC TENSION?? ]

[ Wow, don't use that hug against him! ]

H-Hey, I hadn't seen you in a while! I'm glad you're here, okay?

[ Happy now? G-Gosh.

He's sorry for this, Mary ...... ]

[He can and will use that hug against Sorey.]

That's more truthful than "guessing."

[Mikleo is not sorry at all. Although, he does give Mary a questioning look. He definitely didn't miss that oh from her.]

[ Mary doesn't miss that look, either, flushing and quickly shaking her head. ]

I was just thinking... you two are really close.

[ No need to be so grumpy, Mikleo. He'll turn his attention to Mary at that statement from her. Well, she isn't wrong.

So he answers cheerily. ] We are! We've been together our whole lives.

[ Acting like he wasn't just half sort of arguing with Mikleo. ]

[Well, at least it wasn't a real argument.

Mikleo crosses his arms and rests them on the top of the table.]

Pretty much. Whatever happens, we always face it together.

That's really [ ROMANTIC ] amazing! Like an unbreakable bond?

[ OF LOVE?? ]
