Until the Time Is Up

What: Mikleo invited Mary over to meet Sorey back during the ViViD intro. So, here they are, ready for this meeting.

[Mikleo's been a very busy bee these past few days. Getting adjusted to the technology, figuring out where everything is in the city, checking in with some people he's recently met, figuring out if other humans can see him outside of ViViD, making snacks for two humans and four seraphim (including himself), stealing Sorey's history books for some light reading....

The list goes on.

This, however, is something he's been keen on getting ready for. Mary and Sorey meeting for the first time. True to his word, he hasn't told Sorey about the fact that Mary isn't human. He simply tells his friend that he wants him to meet someone he ran into when he first arrived.

Then he calls Mary to schedule it and starts making some snacks for her to take home afterwards.

Look, he really loves this oven and the fact that temperature is no longer an issue for him because of this wonderful technology. Hope Mary likes butter cookies.

When she arrives, Mikleo's just finished putting the cookies on the cooling rack and answers the door, calling over his shoulder:]

Sorey, would you turn off the oven, please?

[He stands aside for Mary to enter, a small smile on his face.]

Hi, Mary. Come on in and make yourself at home.

[Okay, maybe Mikleo is a little excited for the two of them to meet. Maybe. He just thinks Mary deserves more loving friends, alright?]

[ Yes, of course she helped! And he nods at that! But damn, Mikleo. Rude. ]

Hey, I've been fine on my own! [ Huff puff! But he can't help but smile at Mary's comment. So cute. ] But I guess I'm glad he's here now, too, Mary.

[Ugh, he's right here, guys. And faintly blushing to boot.]

There's no 'guessing' involved, Sorey. You were the one who hugged me the moment you saw me.

[Hmph. "I guess I'm glad he's here, now." The nerve.]

[immobileyes]

[ Looking between the two of them, very slowly... ]

Oh.

[ Is this the rumored ROMANTIC TENSION?? ]

[unwaverings]

[ Wow, don't use that hug against him! ]

H-Hey, I hadn't seen you in a while! I'm glad you're here, okay?

[ Happy now? G-Gosh.

He's sorry for this, Mary ...... ]

[He can and will use that hug against Sorey.]

That's more truthful than "guessing."

[Mikleo is not sorry at all. Although, he does give Mary a questioning look. He definitely didn't miss that oh from her.]

[immobileyes]

[ Mary doesn't miss that look, either, flushing and quickly shaking her head. ]

I was just thinking... you two are really close.

[unwaverings]

[ No need to be so grumpy, Mikleo. He'll turn his attention to Mary at that statement from her. Well, she isn't wrong.

So he answers cheerily. ] We are! We've been together our whole lives.

[ Acting like he wasn't just half sort of arguing with Mikleo. ]

[Well, at least it wasn't a real argument.

Mikleo crosses his arms and rests them on the top of the table.]

Pretty much. Whatever happens, we always face it together.

[immobileyes]

That's really [ ROMANTIC ] amazing! Like an unbreakable bond?

[ OF LOVE?? ]

[unwaverings]

[ It's very romantic amazing, Mary!! He smiles wide. ]

Yeah! Nothing can break us apart, right, Mikleo?

[ Even if they fight sometimes like Children, they always come back. ]

That's true enough.

[That might be a fond smile. Who's he kidding? That's a fond smile.]

We've faced a lot of hardship and tough decisions recently in our world, but none of those have changed what we mean to each other.

[They might change as people, but their bond won't break because of it. In this, Mikleo's dead certain.]

[immobileyes]

I'm... really glad, then. That even if people change, their bond won't.

[ Mary herself doesn't change as quickly... maybe it's why this means so much to her. ]

[unwaverings]

[ He can't help but turn his smile towards Mikleo. He's extremely grateful to have him with him.

And then back to Mary. ]

Well, sure. If the bond is strong enough, it shouldn't matter how much the people change.

[It goes without question or saying that Mikleo is just as grateful that Sorey's been with him all this time.]

Seraphim don't change as much as humans do, but those changes are part and parcel of who Sorey is. Sorey is Sorey, no matter what.

[He feels like he's gotten at least a little wiser and knowledgeable after all they've experienced, but Mikleo doesn't think he's changed as much as a person. Sorey, on the other hand, has changed because of those experiences, and in some ways it's for the better. Some ways have...not been. Either way, he's accepted those changes as facets of his friend's character. He just does his best to try to balance it out.]

Just like how Mary is Mary, and I like who you are. [Faults and all.]

[immobileyes]

[ Mikleo's probably a little more like her, then... it makes her smile warm, a little. It's a relief to know that not everyone changes as quickly as humans seem to. ]

People can say that so easily, here... I think that's the most amazing thing of all.

[ Roxas had said it too, and so many people seemed to genuinely look past the fact that she was, essentially, a monster, and like her anyway. ]

But I like who you are, too. And Sorey's... not so scary.

[unwaverings]

[ He nods with a smile at Mikleo's first statement. Yep, Sorey is Sorey. That's just how it is! He knows he's changed a little, but he's still always himself.

But ... hah. ]

You thought I was scary?

[ Or even still think it if she only thinks he's 'not so scary'. ]

[He gently places a hand Sorey's shoulder.]

And now you know he's about as intimidating as a kitten.

[There's only one time Mikleo can agree that Sorey was a terrifying force to be reckoned with, but it doesn't need to be mentioned.]

Not to mention just as reckless and curious as one.

[immobileyes]

S-sorry... [ Mary at least has the decency to look shamefaced about it, fidgeting and twisting her fingers together anxiously as she returns to her seat. ]

I'm still not used to meeting people, so it's always kind of scary at first.

[unwaverings]

A kitten? [ Wow, Mikleo. And ... reckless? ] —Hey!

[ Bumping Mikleo's arm playfully with his elbow while he pouts a little. Gosh, what a description ... But he'll smile right away anyway.

And he doesn't want Mary to be sorry over it or anything! So he'll give her a smile and speak softly. ]

Don't worry about it. I don't mind, really. [ He was just confused, is all. ] Take as long as you need to to feel comfortable.

It's true and you know it. Besides, you have your claws. Sometimes.

[He pokes Sorey's stomach right back. Gosh, some people just can't handle the truth.

Mikleo nods.]

Our door's open for you. And there's no real rush.

[immobileyes]

... Thank you. Both of you.

[ Well, she can see why Mikleo's so fond of Sorey... and it looks like the feeling's mutual.

SHE CAN SHIP IT, RIGHT?? ]

[unwaverings]

[ SHE CAN INDEED.

Sorey gives Mikleo a bit of a look at his poking his stomach. He'd poke back, but he doesn't want to start a random poke fight when they should be conversing with Mary!

He'll flash a wide, genuine smile her way in response though. ]

It's nothing! Like Mikleo said, you're always welcome here.

[ No need to thank them. ]

[You're doing the Lord's work, Mary.]

I'm also going to be starting work at the ice cream parlor. So, you can drop by there, too, since Sorey's probably going to make a daily visit.

[And if not, then Mikleo's going to Sorey when he's got a break. Can't escape the water seraph, Shepherd.]

An ice cream p... like Roxas?

[ Well, someone sure looks suddenly happy. Mary, they might not know who Roxas is. ]

[unwaverings]

You bet I will. Anything for your ice cream.

[ Mikleo makes good cold treats please love them, Mary.

But he doesn't recognize that name. ]

Roxas? [ Turning to Mikleo. ] Friend of yours, too?

[ The way she's bringing up his name makes him think Mikleo must know him, too. ]
