[ in this session of ViViD is a room— large and widened, reinforced floors of shimmering onyx reflecting the lights from each of its corners, soft designs carved into each plate of smooth stone on the battlefield. the room is set up as a stadium, its enormous middle arena surrounded by hundreds, seemingly thousands of bunks and an open sky that seems so dark, you could very well mistake it for a poorly lit ( vast ) ceiling. for now, all things are in silence, not a single sound to be heard other than the quiet, echoing steps of two trainers down below, a shock of cherry red hair on one side, and a shine of silvery white on the other.
they both look excited.
more lights clap on, shining down to properly illuminate the battle arena, and with that, a grand screen lights up above them for the whole room's easy viewing, from close ups to amazing camera angles, would you look at that. the trainers speak with each other, exchange smirks, and with a fast beat tune beginning to play, surrounding the arena and booming with the beat of one's heart with each drum— it could make just about anyone's pulse race all of a sudden ( especially with the appearance of creatures most would call otherworldly ). the entire room roars with cheers and yells from faceless npcs that were moments ago nowhere to be seen, whistling and clapping for the battle's start.

pokemon battles, man. things are going to go down. ]
why didn't i tag this sooner
with metagross behind him, he approaches silver and his team. he's not here to gloat, and his expression says as much - it doesn't look cocky in the slightest. ]
I could tell that you all battled your hardest. That's more than a lot of people can say.
!!!!!! (1 / 2)
it was near impossible not to think about mega evolution. what in the world was that even. if someone had told him by word of mouth, he might have been a bit skeptic. mega evolution? what's that??? no, instead, he saw it first, experienced it first, and never has he seen something so absolutely powerful, so exciting, so
so cool
not that those very words would come from his mouth, no, but he could think it and by arceus if he wasn't already wondering how to learn how to do it with his own pokemon. imagine that.
steven gets his attention enough that he actually jolts upward a bit ( it was really quiet before, okay!!! ), and meets his eyes, takes in what . . . sounded like a compliment . . . ]
(2 / 2)
My hardest wasn't hard enough.
[ he'd train them harder, as hard as he could— train everywhere. train sneasel, work with him, with everyone. then with a subtle puff of the chest, silver straightens himself, standing up. ]
That's far from giving up, though. We'll come back as the greatest challenge you've seen, Steven.
[ remember that!!!
( and with that said— haha sorry steven, he's eyeing your mega pin, there. eyeing it like it would somehow show him all the secrets ) ]
no subject
I'd be disappointed if you did give up. It's not every day that you find someone that can hold their own against the Champion of the Hoenn League.
[ he says it nonchalantly, as easy as if he were saying his name. his smile is gentle, but serious. ]
You're a Trainer to be reckoned with, Silver. This battle was proof that my intuition didn't betray me.
no subject
—You? You're Hoenn's Champion—?!
[ a champion was saying he was a trainer to be reckoned with???
he just battled another champion????? ]
no subject
Well... I suppose I should say ex- Champion - I was dethroned not too long ago by a Trainer not much younger than you. But she's decided to keep travelling, so I still hold the incumbent title until further notice.
[ he refrains from mentioning his plans to retire from competitive battling completely - it's a little too early for that, and it won't matter very much in this context. plus, he doesn't want to bum silver out. ]

this changes things even more. if silver had already wanted to challenge him to a rematch and win— now, he had a personal obligation. the want has never been greater, and the surge in energy makes his shadow chuckle and move on its own, what should be silver's head craning back to give a chortle if one were to keep their eyes on the bit of shade.
gengar liked that. just look at his trainer firing up all over again, isn't that precious. the shadow moves again, this time, an arm reaching over to ruffle silver's hair; the teen only tenses at the surprise touch, and firmly tries to smooth his messy hair back into place, all while giving his shadow a quick look. ]
You know I don't like that—
[ gengar gives a snort, and through the shadow there's a smile, a row of white, jagged teeth that lay back and relax. see? too precious. too precious for this world.
but now— let's get back to something serious. ]
With Metagross— Tell me how you did that.
[ he's staring hard, and giving a quick point to steven's pokemon. ]
no subject
hm. ]
I assume you're not familiar with the concept of Mega Evolution?
[ it's still a fairly new phenomenon, so he's not surprised. but there's a definite link between the stickpin in his lapel and the stone set into the band around metagross' leg. ]
no subject
[ another chuckle from gengar, who's rising halfway up from the ground to join the others, silver's shadow rippling around him like a pool. heheh. hello. he's here for the funnies. ( because it's kind of funny when his trainer gets bristly like that ).
with a short huff, a tad annoyed ( but mostly impatient to find out ), he crosses his arms. ]
What is it?
no subject
ha ha. good thing that isn't true. ]
It's the bond that a Trainer and Pokemon share, given physical form. Using a Mega Stone paired with the correct Pokemon and a Key Stone, if your bonds are strong enough, a Pokemon can reach its Mega Evolved form.
[ he takes the stickpin out of his lapel, twirling it between his thumb and forefinger. it seems to glimmer in a way that's almost like it's... pulsating energy. ]
What you saw in our battle was just that.
no subject
silver is listening, so hard he doesn't even blink as he gives steven his full, undivided attention. thank arceus he's growing all these bonds with his pokémon now, and everyday he's learning more about them, and they about him. crobat isn't the only proof he has of his friendship with his team.
he wants to mega evolve them
he totally has the bonds right ]
Can they all Mega Evolve?
[ mega crobat??? mega typhlosion?? mega gengar and weavile and everything??? ]
no subject
he knows that silver is dead-set on becoming stronger, so he knows not to mess with him this time around. he'll give him all the information he has about the subject. well... most of it. ]
No - or at least, we don't know that much yet. While being in the final stage of evolution is a requirement, only a small handful of Pokemon are known to be able to achieve Mega Evolution.
no subject
so, only a select few— he just had to hope one of his six had one. ]
Which ones?
[ his eyes are fixed, but he's not only extremely curious but he also feels he needs to know here. come on. please.
he needs to know. ]
no subject
You're in luck - your Gengar has the potential to Mega Evolve.
no subject
We just need the stones, then.
[ silver looks a bit pensive though, hand coming up to his chin and thoughtful. he had a lot of ViViDing to do if sneasel was the first on his list . . . oh boy. ]
no subject
[ he watches him think, smile still fresh on his lips. he's not going to say anything specifically, okay. ]
The Gengarite is quite the beautiful specimen - I managed to find a piece of it for my own collection back in Hoenn. But before we get to any of that, I think you still have plenty of training to do.
no subject
who knew people liked training so much. this guy does.
( but he likes battles like these even better ) ]
—We'll look for you again. Just you wait.
[ and they'll be ready for it!! ]
