unwaverings
When: IC: 4/11; OOC: 11/23 (backdated)
Where: All around the colony
What: Visiting some shrines and exploring
Rating/Warning: None
[Once Mikleo and Sorey have had time to settle in and check the colony for friends, the three of them make plans to meet up. Korra hasn't had a chance to see Sorey in person, after all, and she did promise Mikleo she'd show him the shrines. The gym seems one of the best places to meet up--it's a short walk from the apartments and easy enough to find for newcomers to the colony.
Korra fiddles with the CereVice as she waits for her friends to show up, having claimed one of the benches just outside the gym's front door as her own for the moment. A smile makes its way onto her face when she looks up and spots them not too long after she arrived.]
Mikleo, Sorey, over here! [Nimbly, she hops onto her feet. Looks like it's time to move on!]

Mikleo, Sorey, over here! [Nimbly, she hops onto her feet. Looks like it's time to move on!]

And he'll wave as he closes the gap between them, smiling wide. ]
Hey, Korra!
no subject
You're looking well.
no subject
Great, we're all here now! And, you know, not at the mercy of whatever ViViD comes up with. Ready to go? One of the shines is in this district, and not too far from here.
no subject
But he'll keep on topic! ]
Yeah, no weird stuff! Just shrines to check out! [ Placing his hands on his hips. He's totally in exploration mode here. ] I'm always ready!
no subject
Let's get going, then.
[Then, Mikleo becomes a little ball of green light that shoots into Sorey's body. Hope Korra's prepared to hear the seraph's voice again, though it sounds like he's speaking in an echo.]
Whose shrine is it, by the way?
no subject
Then, her eyes widen in shock as Mikleo disappears into Sorey's body. She stands stock-still for a moment.]
Okay. That was a little new. I'm guessing that's supposed to happen?
no subject
Laughing a little awkwardly. ] Oh, uh, yeah. I didn't realize that might be weird to you. [ A pause. ] I'm his vessel, so he can do stuff like that.
no subject
Technically, he's Lailah's vessel. [Gosh, Sorey.] My pact with her allows me to share her vessel, in this case Sorey. Vessels are very important for seraphim who become a Lord of the Land as well as those who consent to joining the Shepherd. Their purity protects us from the malevolence, as long as the vessel doesn't become corrupted itself. Once that happens, any seraphim attached to it will turn into hellions, if not a dragon, depending on how badly corrupted it is.
no subject
Lailah's from your world? I probably should've guessed. She did seem pretty surprised when I could see her the first time, now that I think about it.
[There's something that doesn't sit all that well with her, though, and she's frowning as she pipes up again.] What's this about dragons being corrupted, though?
no subject
You've met Lailah? That's great! She's a friend of ours, too, of course. [ He's just so excited to see his seraphim friends going around befriending humans, aah.
This conversation is kind of getting dark a little quickly. He's going to try to keep it from going too far in. ]
A seraph who's been corrupted by malevolence eventually becomes a dragon. They're ... really powerful. [ Is all he'd like to say on the matter. He doesn't want to linger too long on it, and he's going to try to push away from it. ] But we don't have to worry about that here, since I haven't been able to feel any malevolence in this world. [ Great, right? Right! ] So ... how about those shrines? [ H-Hahah ... ]
no subject
Just because there isn't malevolence here doesn't mean that there isn't corruption. We can still be affected by it if we'e not careful.
[He has a feeling that Korra won't like that answer very much. Still, it's definitely a dark subject, and Mikleo will take Sorey's side on this one.]
Message me later and I'll tell you more about the dragons from our world, Korra. It's not a light topic.
I'm so sorry, this didn't show up in my inbox for some reason :c
Come on, the shrine's this way. [Korra musters up a smile, gesturing at them to follow her. The walk lasts about a few minutes, until Korra stops just in front of a shrine that's empty, save for the tiny tree growing just above it. As soon as they're close enough, the shrine seems to muffle any of the noise coming from the other streets, making the area around it silent.
Korra lowers her voice, knowing from experience that her normal volume would sound too loud in the quiet.]
This one's earth--the spirit's name is Occidi. Usually offerings disappear right after you leave them on the altar.
it's perfectly alright!!! ;w;
Placing a hand to his chin thoughtfully. ]
Earth, huh ... Occidi ... [ Hmhmhmm ... Oh, right. He remembers something just now. ] Hey, do you think it'd be all right for me to take a picture of it with my CereVice?
[ He wants to ask, just in case she thinks that'd be disrespectful or something. But he'd like to be able to look at this place later, maybe even compare it to the other shrines they see. It'd make it easier to look at them next to each other. ]
dw about it, man. uwu
I'm guessing that the tree is his symbol?
[It can't be seen, but he's frowning at the thorns.]
The plants here don't look to be in great shape. Does that have something to do with Occidi's blessing not being as present in the colony?
;w; <3
And, it's she. [She corrects Mikleo absently as she looks at the tree again.] I wouldn't be surprised if trees were her symbol--she looked like she was made of trees herself when I saw her.
[A sigh escapes her.] I guess I should have mentioned before, the shrines are really new. They appeared in the colony just over a month ago. [Her eyes trace the wilting vines around the shrine sadly.] I wonder if it looks like this because they haven't had anyone leaving offerings for them until recently.
no subject
But he gets an idea with that last part. ]
Hey, maybe we should leave some sort of offering while we're here.
[ It's only right! ]
no subject
[Sorey most likely knows that already, but he's saying it for Korra's benefit.]
For now, we'll go with the idea that a tree is her symbol. If nothing else, it seems important to the element of earth.
[If Mikleo was physical, he'd probably be smiling a little at Sorey's suggestion.]
That's a good idea. Every little bit might count for a lot.
no subject
Don't have anything on me, but I think there's a booth that sells incense in the station. Should we just grab some of those and come back?
no subject
Yeah, that sounds good. It just doesn't feel right to move on without leaving something for her.
[ And he knows full well the importance of offerings and faith! He can't in good conscience leave without leaving at least something ... ]
no subject
I agree. The next time we visit, we can leave something more appropriate to her element or the aspects she embodies. Same for the other three spirits.
no subject
Sit tight, I'll run over to the shop and pick up the incense right now.
[With that, she jogs off in the direction of the station.]
no subject
[ And that he'll do. And he'll watch her for a moment before turning towards the shrine again and taking out his CereVice. ]
I guess this is as good a time as any to take some pictures. [ It'll pass the time while they wait.
So he'll start taking pictures from any angle he can reasonably get. And since he has time, he actually waits for the camera to focus itself now, unlike in the past. Hurray for clear pictures. ]
no subject
As it is, the water seraph is content to patiently wait for Korra to return. After a moment, however, he sighs.]
A shame that I don't know for sure how well those vines will take to an offering of water. The last thing we need is to find out that there are consequences for elemental opposition.
no subject
Before too much time has passed, Korra sprints back to the shrine, holding up the bag proudly.]
Got it. [She teases a stick of incense out of the container and lights it with a short flare of firebending. Then, she places the incense in a simple incense holder and leaves the whole thing on the altar. It disappears shortly.]
no subject
[ Ah, but he's happy to see Korra back, and he smiles to greet her as he finishes his last picture. It's one amazing thing after the next for him though, as she lights the flare herself and the incense disappears, too. Please excuse his look of awe and amazement. ]
Whoa ...
